Psycho, Pet, Ari.

Eighteen / 18.
Gender
Male? That's what he's been told but Nova will respond to female and gender-neutral pronouns as well. Occasionally Nova will switch between referring to himself as male or female, whether this is just to mess with other people or because he genuinely feels like he needs to express his gender differently is something he hasn't figured out yet.

A bright red, not unlike the colour of fresh blood.
Height
5'1".
Weight
98lbs.
Body Build
Slender, somewhat feminine.
Physical Mutations
None.
Notable Scars
Faint scars covered partially by his tattoos.
Piercings and Tattoos
Nova has several tattoos that look like stitches; a small one is below is right eye and another under his bottom lip and there are several going down his neck which carry on down his chest, more of the same cross his chest horizontally as well, these ones are simple X shaped ones. Starting from his right shoulder, another stitch-like tattoo curls around his right arm and hand, eventually stopping on the tip of his middle finger. Each of these tattoos are a bright red in colour, matching his aura.
Casual Wear
When dressing casually, Nova has a tendency to wear brighter colours that don't always go together. However his favourite outfit consists of a long-sleeved white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows and the top button left undone, inside the shirt is lots of little loops that look like they could hold something, under this he wears a black sleeveless shirt. Polka dotted red suspenders hold up a pair of black pants which are rolled up to the knees and a pair of red slippers are worn on his feet. His red hairpins are present on whatever outfit he is wearing at the time.
It isn't uncommon for him to choose to wear something more girly either. His choice in dresses ranges from simple to elegant to something childish that makes him look younger than he is, which given his softer voice means he can easily pass as female if he wants to.
Face Claim
Juuzou Suzuya - Tokyo Ghoul
Nova is weird, though that's putting things nicely. He's the sort of person who loves getting into someone's personal space to see them freak out, yet is oddly shy when people try to do the same to him. Nova possesses a rather childish personality and sees most things as a game, even his own life. He's unstable, reckless, and a sadomasochist.
Most people are rather put off by his behavior, especially when he starts laughing at things others don't find funny. Nova is overly expressive, often gesturing a lot while talking and he's accidentally hit people while doing this before. Oddly enough, despite his general friendly nature, he is rather awkward about physical contact, shying away from it and flinching if someone does manage to touch him.
Strengths
- Unfazed - Nova takes everything in stride and is not easily fazed by anything.
- Creative - Nova has a rather vivid imagination and can sometimes come up with interesting ideas that other's may not have thought of.
- Accepting - More so than some people, Nova accepts abstract ideas and other ways of thinking or feeling.
Weaknesses
- Reckless - Nova's reckless personality often has him disregarding his own safety.
- Blood lust - The sight of blood often sends Nova into a battle frenzy from which it usually takes knocking him out to calm him down, although oddly enough the sight of his own blood makes him laugh instead.
- Social situations - Nova's personality is off-putting enough that most people don't want to deal with him for too long, especially with how he gets in everyone's personal space.
Fears
- Being confined - Due to his past, Nova will panic if left in small spaces or tied up for any length of time.
- Crowds - More specifically, crowds of adults, Nova still has some trauma from his past.
- Blood - Or rather, what it does to him.
Telekinesis.
Power Class
Psychic.
Power Description
Telekinesis is the ability to move objects with one's mind. The power has a limit on both the size and amount that can be moved at once and the bigger the object that is being moved, the less of them that can be controlled (e.g. a single chair as opposed to several knifes). Currently Nova is able to move things the size of a small table, though not for long and only within a limited range. He favours smaller objects such as marbles, pens and knives.
Nova's telekinetic ability requires him to have touched the object he wishes to move before he can actually do so. If someone were to ask he would perhaps go into great detail about a gruesome blood pact to contract the object to him, but it is nothing more than a simple brush of bare skin against the item in question. This wears off after a while, however, and so the "contract" needs renewing every couple of hours. The range is rather limited as well, once an item is ten metres away from Nova it leaves his control until it is back in range. Both the distance and the length of time the object can be used for will increase with practice.
When using this ability, Nova gains a bright red aura, usually focused around his hands which his uses to direct those objects he is controlling.
Power Limitations and Weaknesses
- The ability currently has a range of ten metres before the objects leave Nova's control.
- Every two and a half hours, Nova has to retouch the items his wishes to be able to move.
- There are limits on the size and amount of objects being controlled; the bigger the object the less that can be moved at a time.
- Nova has to move his hands and fingers to direct the objects he is controlling.
- Once sent in a direction, the ability to redirect an object increases in difficulty the heavier the item is, since it is more mass to make change direction.
- Nova cannot move anything that is alive with this ability, nor can he control anything that is animated or used by another person's ability.
The first and only memory Aria Valentine had of his family was of the car accident that tore his parents and baby sister away from him. It was also this incident that saw his ability first awaken, the parts of the car he was in contact with twisting to protect him from the impact. He was six years old at the time and while he survived the ordeal physically unscathed, his memories before then had been suppressed, that particular memory only stayed because of the trauma.
He was sent to an orphanage, a month after the incident and after it was deemed unlikely for him to use his ability again. The ability seemed to have only surfaced to save his life and further attempts to release it resulted in failure. It was thought to be safe enough for Aria to continue living among the "normies" without any training.
He was a rather odd child, not making friends easily with the other children in the orphanage. Aria would dress up in girls clothes as often as he did boys and when asked he would hum softly as he thought before saying that he wouldn’t have minded playing dress up with his sister. His caretakers would frown a little before turning away and letting him continue as he wanted.
Of course, this fairly content life could not carry on. The English town that the orphanage was in was a small one and corruption wasn’t unheard of, several noble families would donate money to the orphanage and in return would "adopt" children into their family. It was an open secret that these children would be raised as servants while young enough to be trained as such.
So far within his two years at the orphanage, the now eight year old had avoided attention by virtue of being too "weird" and "traumatised" to be of any use. But by now Aria had rediscovered his ability again, and the people coming to visit the orphanage were especially on the lookout for those children with abilities. And these people just happened to spot Aria using his.
The sight of Aria, already small for his age and wearing a dress made the people who found him mistake him for a girl. The fact that he was levitating marbles through a little obstacle course he had made in his room left them thinking that the girl could be useful in the future. That Aria turned out to be a boy was only a slight deterrence, there were ways to deal with that.
The Sinclair family, while nobility, were perhaps more corrupt than most of the others that contributed to the orphanage. So not an hour later Aria Valentine became Aria Sinclair and left the building with nothing more than the few marbles in her hand and the dress she was wearing.
Upon reaching her new home, Aria was informed that she was now to live as a girl before being shown to a room and locked in it. The room was small, more of a storage room than an actual bedroom and uncertain of her future she curled up in the corner and cried herself to sleep.
A month later found Aria in that same position but for a different reason. Her new family had decided that while castration would stop puberty from making her body more masculine, it would be malnutrition that would keep her small and stunt her growth. On top of this she was to learn how to use her ability in any way she could, she had a party to attend in two months and she was not allowed to disappoint her family.
Hunger made it hard to concentrate on anything, let alone her ability, Aria would find herself fainting several times over the course of the next two months as the telekinesis drained all the energy she had gotten from what food she was allowed to eat.
By the time the party arrived, Aria had learned to control five marbles at once, though perhaps due to her familiarity with those objects they were the only things that responded to her metal nudges.
She was dolled up in a pretty red dress, her hair now reaching her shoulder blades was tied back with a red ribbon, although her feet were bare and Aria could feel a chill settling in as she was led to one of the basement rooms in her family’s manor.
The party, as it turned out, was more a gathering of families who showed off the abilities of the children under their care, and while the children performed, the adults drank wine and discussed business.
Aria hated it, but a quick glance at the other children showed that she was the only one who felt that way. They all seemed to be older than her and wore expressions of casual indifference, although they all seemed to eye each other and her with looks of distaste, like they were contemplating who they could get away with killing.
In the end the party wrapped up quickly enough, although her family weren’t particularly impressed with her performance. Her meals were taken away for the next two days and she was warned to do better next time.
It carried on similarly for the next two years and by the time she was ten, Aria had gotten more proficient in her ability use and was given slightly more to eat than she was before, if only as long as she continued to perform as well as she did. She felt like little more than a pet, something which a couple of the adults had taken to calling her occasionally.
Aria was, however, not far away from breaking at this point. She would behave in public, but when alone in her room she would start laughing to herself, even as tears escaped her eyes. She stopped sleeping as much, her health deteriorated and the Sinclair family was left wondering if she was worth the upkeep as her performances started to slip. It wasn’t until she passed out during one of their gatherings that they decided against keeping the child.
When Aria next awoke she was alone, with nothing more than her dress on her. They had left her in a dark alleyway, a single marble still clutched in her hand. And out of the corner of her eye, Aria spotted something gleaming in the meagre light. Upon closer inspection a knife was revealed. Whether it was out of pity or if this was some sort of twisted way to feel less guilt over abandoning her, they had left her a way to defend herself.
Aria quickly learned that living on the streets as a girl wasn't a good idea. People saw him as an easier target and would try and steal his food frequently. So it wasn’t long before Aria used his knife and cut his hair until it fell messily to around chin length.
He was certainly treated differently looking more like a boy, begging for food was harder and Aria wasn't good at stealing since he couldn't use his ability. And the others on the streets saw him as more of a threat now. It was three months after he started living on the streets that he was actually attacked.
Aria had been trying to sleep, it was a luxury but he had already gone a few days without sleeping and he could feel exhaustion clawing its way through. He was abruptly awoken by the sound of footsteps and barely rolled away in time to avoid a knife that managed to clip his bottom lip.
Aria's ability lashed out and his knife flew at his assailant, striking the older man in the chest twice and putting the man down for good. Red eyes widened at the sight before Aria threw up what little food he had managed to eat that day. As he passed out he heard a slow clapping noise and saw feet stop in front of him.
When he woke up next he was somewhere warm. It was something he hadn't felt since the orphanage and Aria had almost forgotten what it was like. Of course, he wasn't getting such treatment for free. Aria soon found out that he would have to earn his stay in that room along with the food he would be given.
As it turned out the people who found him were probably worse than his previous family. In order to earn his keep, the ten year old would have to fight in underground tournaments, the money he earned would go to the people who had "sponsored" him and while some of it would be used to keep Aria fed, clothed and warm the rest would go to the people who had taken him in.
In the end it wasn't such a bad thing. There was something about fighting, the sight of blood, that after the first few times would send the child into a rage and Aria's sponsor only encouraged that. Within the next year, Aria slowly lost all sense of who he once was, wearing dresses to fight as frequently as he did a shirt and pants.
By the time he was thirteen, Aria knew nothing but fighting and trying to train his ability. At fourteen he stopped using the ability altogether, instead preferring to get in close with his knives. At fifteen a group of government agents raided the fighting centre, swiftly taking down those who resisted and arresting those who surrendered peacefully.
Aria was discovered in his room and taken in, the young teen practically feral from his near daily fights in the arena. He was covered in faint scars and still fresh wounds, knives tightly held within his grasp as he tried to fight against being taken. In the end they knocked him out in order to transport him.
It took two years of conditioning and visits to psychologists for Aria to finally be cleared for human interaction, if tentatively for the time being. It was decided that in order to get him used to being around people, Aria would attend Furushima Academy, the people in charge of him figuring that if he went feral again, ability users would be better suited to calming the teen down.
Aria's final act before joining the Academy was to change his name to Nova Aria. And so, a year older than the others joining at the same time as him, Nova entered the student body of what would become his home for the time being. It was a bumpy start, what with Nova shying away from others half the time and getting way to close to him the other, and the teen kept sneaking off of school grounds to get his stitch-like tattoos over the top of his scars, but it seems like things are otherwise going smoothly. For now.
"He's nice enough, I guess."
Nova tends to float between liking Kosei and being perfectly willing to ignore his existence. He appreciates the other's cheerful personality, like a ray of sunshine or a bright star in the sky. Although that doesn't mean he wants to be friends exactly, oh Nova would be perfectly content to hang out with Kosei, but he's a little too likely to become upset over some things and Nova is hardly the sort of person who would understand if he took something too far. But still, Kosei is someone Nova likes.
"He's so... So bland... Boooring~"
Nova's opinion on Lucien tends to change from day to day, sometimes several times a day. Lucien is rather monotone and while Nova can appreciate that it is his coping method, it doesn't change the fact that he would rather see some sort of emotion from him. And so while some days Nova takes to avoiding Lucien, others he will actively try to provoke some sort of emotion out of him, likely much to Lucien's hidden annoyance.
"Oh! Him? He has these pretty marble thingys that follow him around. It's so cool!"
Nova likes Alfred, and only partly because of his personality. Nova has a slight fascination with marbles and Alfred's angels look enough like them that he will often trail off mid-sentence to stare at what they're doing. Of course, Nova does like Alfred's personality too, and while he personally prefers a darker sense of humour, Nova does find some of the things Alfred comes out with rather funny too.
"He's sorta mean... But that's fine!"
Nova seems to swing between liking Taikan a whole lot, and being terrified of the other's existence. On one hand Taikan's ability is something that Nova can admire, on the other... Well, Taikan seems to want to redecorate everything with Nova's blood whenever he's around. While normally Nova has no sense of self-preservation, something about Taikan's hatred makes even him take notice. And promptly disregard his instincts.
"Stay away from my sister!"
Nova dislikes Keiji, not so much for the way for the other acts, honestly Nova has no idea what that is all about, but rather because he keeps saying weird things to Natalia. Something about the other boy sets whatever protective instincts Nova may still possess into overdrive. Not to mention certain incidents when Nova wears the female uniform.
"He's fun!"
Nova finds Abel a rather fun person to be around. He openly shows his emotions which is something that Nova likes, as long as he doesn't anger Abel accidentally. Although the funny things he says to people sometimes... Well Nova isn't sure what they're supposed to be but it makes some people go red or something? As long as Abel doesn't try with his sister then the other boy will be safe.
"He's cool! Those stabby things he can make are cool too! And... Uhh..."
Elias is a person Nova enjoys hanging out with. That Elias seems to like Nova and perhaps even understand them on some level is just another point in their fellow student's favour. When Nova isn't with their "big sister" then it's likely that they're following Elias around somewhere. Or causing chaos. There's also the fact that Elias' smile does funny things to them. Are they sick? Is Elias sick? Nova is rather confused, all they know is that they don't want Elias to go away.
"She's... Different?"
Nova isn't quite sure what to think of Nao. On one hand she's rather distant and detached, on the other she seems to get along well with nearly everyone, or can tolerate them at least. Nova wouldn't mind being her friend one day, but he isn't quite sure how best to approach her in order to avoid coming off as too weird.
"She's the best big sister ever!"
If it's not already clear from the way he acts around her, Nova views Natalia as an older sister (despite the fact that he is actually older than her). She's kind and seems to tolerate Nova's presence so when not unintentionally annoying the other students, he has taken to following Natalia around like a little puppy. She is probably the only person Nova really cares about (as much as his understanding of his emotions allows him to) and so if someone were to hurt her, it wouldn't be a surprise if Nova went after the perpetrator for revenge.
"She's... Uhh... She seems sad all the time."
Nova doesn't have much of an opinion on Shizuka, because despite her being in the same class as him she doesn't really pay him any attention either way. He would love to get a reaction from her, but she's always either stuck in a book or about ready to cry. Those times that she turns to talk to thin air sure are weird though. Nova would like to become her friend though, because she seems to lonely all of the time.
"She's fun! And she can turn into a biiiig puppy!"
Nova likes Kylie, likely much to her displeasure. He finds her ability amazing and whenever she's in wolf form he will try to play random little games with her. She does seem rather rude though, and she doesn't like Nova's big sister much...
"She's cool. But she doesn't seem to like me or my big sister much..."
When it comes to independence, Nova and Chiharu are pretty much opposites. While Chiharu can clearly look after herself, someone needs to keep an eye on Nova most of the time. As the one who usually does that isn't liked by Chiharu, it's a surprise he likes the blonde girl. Although that could be the fact that he finds her ability interesting. It can stop his marbles and everything!
