Setting
The harsh climate and bombardment of the elements leave its people both weather worn and hardy. Ice storms coming in from the north are prevalent, and the surrounding wilds are ripe with hostile wildlife and all manner of ills that Terra can throw at them. Few denizens of Windcrest aren't battle-hardened.
Windcrest is predominantly populated by humans; though, the humans of Windcrest are reputed to be slightly larger than is typically average, and they possess an iron fortitude. Other races from all over Terra also are known to make their home here, and Windcrest sports a large number of refugees that have fled northward from the wars that have routinely ravaged the Midlands.
Windcrest's primary revenue comes from mining and fishing.
The city walls are laced with adamantium that the mountains are rich in and have been imbued with the protective enchantments of the Patronus. The city defenses are maintained by the Knights of Le'thorian and the local militia.
(RP Notes: Windcrest's local culture is loosely influenced by a mingling of Norse, medieval western Europe, and fantasy, but due to the large number of refugees from other regions of Aslund, other cultural denominations are present as well. Windcrest is not a particularly advanced city, and it lacks in many modern comforts. The harsh climate wrecks havoc on machinery and you won't find much in the way of motor vehicles and other such things.)
"Let me go!" Eirik kicked and yelled. He even tried to bite the soldier's arm as the man grabbed his wrist to stop him from getting free of his shirt.
Once Oriel had ahold of Eirik's other wrist he received much of the same treatment, as Eirik kicked him in the shin and tried to bite his hand.
"Don't you bite people it's rude, now go with your caretaker." He said flatly, reaching down to pick up his bag.
"Frakkin' Urchins." He said as he nodded to Oriel. "Just doin my civic duty." He said, nodding before he turned to head back to his station.
"Oh, and keep an eye out for the Admiral, rumor has it she's gone missin'"
He rose to his feet, "Now, come on. Arrow will be wondering where we are." he said, starting back off towards the orphanage, dragging Eirik along with him if necessary.
With the order received, the squadren flew into a line formation as the hatched under the ships opened up reavealing their payload. Over the forests, clear of any civilians. "On my mark! Three...Two...One...Launch!" The lead commander shouted as the bomberers unleashed their payload. As the bombs made impact with the ground, they bore for a few seconds before exploding creating deep and narrow holes. The bombers flew steady, carving a massive trench in front of the lava flow.
He knelt an quickly used the hood of his cloak to make a make-shift mask while also protecting his body from the elements around him with the rest of the hooded cloak. The sole Male Drachini then stood and moved to the outskirts of the town. He didn't need to tell people to move, as people were already grabbing their things and high-tailing it out of dodge. He smiled. Good.
Lightning sparked around his body and he raised his hands to the sky for a moment before he jumped.
"Lightning Dragon Slayer, ancient technique...Thunder Pit!" He cried. A yellow circle with the semblance of a Dragon appeared and he then rocketed towards the ground behind the trenches created by the bombers. His hands slammed into the ashen-covered dirt, and for a moment, nothing happened, before suddenly, for a mile in each direction a fifty foot deep trench was created, curving around the town. Lightning of yellow and purple sparked within the pit, annihilating anything caught within the hole whether it be organic or in organic. It was true neutral. Anything caught inside would perish from electrical shock and burns, their atoms being pulled at by the magic.
Demor stood and watched the bombers make their runs, and felt the heat of the lava, relishing it in as his blood was naturally colder than most people's due to his being reptilian in nature. He sighed and set to work creating additional trenches to slow down the lava flow.
His hand slowly went up to his ear, dabbing into the blood gently. He blinked, horrified. He jumped into the air and into the city, finding somewhere he'd be safe behind those walls. He flipped his hood up and curled into a ball, chanting softly to himself to try and heal his ears with what little wind Magic he knew.
As he held a scroll containing shipment information close to his face to get a better look, a sound shook through the halls, a quaking presence that shifted the entire earth around him. He slammed the scroll to the table, steadying himself on the edges. He gave an alarmed look at his Housecarl, Ghalok, who was already standing at the ready, his stance wide to prevent him from falling. "Something's happened, Ghalok. I want you to see to it that whatever it is, our citizen's make it to a safe area. Rally them at once, and begin the march if you must." Ghalok nodded, snorting as he broke into a trot out into the street's of Windcrest. Dextrii made for his throne, where, on the back, rested his personal staff. He gripped the wood, immediately assailed with the magical energy it possessed, and wheeled around, making his own way out into the streets.
Once he was outside, it was more apparent what had happened. The Volcano near Windcrest had become volatile. The ash clouds that descended toward his hold alerted him of that. Already, Ghalok was helping scared citizens load their families and belongings onto carts drawn by horse, and make their way to the opposite of the Volcano. His heart rate quickened, this was certainly a mountainous first task as his role of Jarl, but he planned to face it head on.
"Ghalok! Continue the evacuation, make sure nobody is left behind. I'll slow the eruption best I can while you lead them to safety!" He barked over the screaming crowd. Ghalok simply continued what he was doing. Calm, cool and collected. With that, Dextrii strode for the limit walls of his hold, his staff forging a path through the crowd.
As he made for the city limits, he chanted under his breath a spell of incredible warding, and he could feel the staff start to sap at his energy as the power required to fuel the spell was drawn from him. He felt short of breath, but he kept chanting. A luminescent barrier began to creep around the edge of the wall, slithering slowly upward, until it formed a barrier the length of the entire wall of Windcrest. It was positioned just to cover the flank that would be immediately hit by the volcano
Zhou's airy legs might as well be huge angular chainsaws that reduced a set of seared pine trees to kindling as he rammed at speed legs first through the forest canopy. Buried to his knees in solid stone Zhou shook his head and their two blue lantern-eyes to look about. He'd landed leeward from the town's oncoming pyroclasm. Good.
As he crashed his way through the forest canopy to the road one could see his torso is filled to the brim with palm-sized red crystals. Some of them glow with the faint thrum-thrum of a human heart. The dragon poked at them with an angular claw for a moment to ensure they were still intact before calling out to town in a booming Draconic, ((THE HUMANKIND SEE A WILL OF MYRKUL'S VEIN COME TO SAVE THEM. THEY MUST LEAVE THEIR HOME OR FACE THE WRATH OF NATURE.))
Felix "Hawke" Williams walked up the mountain grinning at the special before him. the volcano, which blew it's top sending fire and hell all over the area around him. A fireball flew towards him which only made him grin harder. with a slight gestured backhand he absorbed the fiery heat from it. the crackling sound of the lava hardening was almost as loud as Felix's laugh as he erupted on fire. he came here to watch the immense power of fire emerging from the volcano. laughed again as his blood red cloak whipped in the wind that came out of nearly nowhere.
"I must truly be mad!" he cackled to himself, as he thrusted his hands to the ground burning an area of the forest around him to ash. "I Came to watch the world burn!" he threw a fist to the air and a giant flaming bolder burst into dust in the air. "And here I am saving a part of it!"
a few minutes later
Felix was completely on fire now. turned into a form of blazing energy caused by the amount of power he's absorbed from the lava that was flowing around him. anything within three feet of him was already solidified and everything else was slowly cooling down and hardening. he was standing near the top half of the volcano trying to absorb the mass amounts of pyro-energy emerging from the volcano. "shit." he grimaced, "I'm absorbing too much energy! I'm going to have to vent it!"
In which He did. violently.
minutes later
Felix quickly vented the mass pyro-energy in the form of a column into the air. and as the last of it dissipated, he passed out on a solidified mass of lava towards the top of the mountain.
The hot black metal of his arms pushed under the young man's body to raise him up. Not that Hashism particularly cared for humans but the loss of new magicians was not a cost he was willing to ignore. The carbonite bombs that stilled this volcano would not still the earth underneath for long. The pounding of earth as much a hazard as the fire the young man failed to channel.
The deep voice chanted a shadow-step spell and darted down the mountain. Racing through the world long black smoke trails behind Hashim. In a dark world devoid of heat and light it is lit only with the colors of Hashim's fire.
