Introduction
Four scholars walked slowly down a narrow corridor each one of them carrying wooden torches that burned dimly. The corridor was built of stone, rather it was carved of stone, and was moist and faintly lit by the torches. The scholars wore long grey robes and had equally long grey beards. All four were elders at the College of the Ancients on a secret exploration to locate archives depicted by ancient mapstones and this corridor, supposedly, led to that very archivial room.
"Do you think it exists?"
"It must. It has been told on the mapstones."
"But are they accurate?"
"When haven't they been?"
"I suppose you are correct. What do you think, Scholar Johvan?"
"I can feel the energy from the Archives from here. They must be real."
The scholars kept a consistant pace as they continued down the path. Slowly the smooth mined-out walls of stone had taken on the shape of hand-layed bricks, bricks the miners did not leave behind. As the scholars proceeded on a faint blue aura was visible on the walls and there was a certain tingly sensation within the air itself. "We must be close," one of them spoke. Seemingly out of nowhere a massive hollowed out chamber was before them. It was an immense room with a domed roof of marble with majestic columns and intricate designs. Paintings depicting mages and elemental mastery were everywhere. The room was circular in shape and had four individual levels each having hundreds upon hundreds of books within bookcases lining the walls. At the very bottom of the archival chamber was a stone, a transparent blue stone that must have weighed a hundred tons. It's glow was immensely bright- bright enough to light up the whole room. Around this stone were mulitple smaller glowing stones hovering orbiting around it. Unbeknownst to them, their discovery would forever tear Avion in two.
What the scholars had discovered was the Magi stone, an ancient stone capable of altering the very fabrics of existence. News of this finding quickly reached even the furthest most remote regions of Avion. The stone had immediatly undergone studies and the books were shipped back to the college for translation. However, on the opposite reaches of Avion, there was a mysterious development taking place. High in the sky a massive two mile long glowing fissure had begun to open up. The fissure seemed harmless enough and was very, very high up in the sky, though it was by no means an ordinary event. Some even claim the magi stone was responsible, that the scholars had stumbled upon something meant to be forgotten.
As of now, all is relatively calm within Avion but surely it won't stay that way. The two kingdoms in Avion, Valtrenna and Stormhale, are fiercely disagreeing about the Magi stone. Some say that soon there will be a war - that the two kingdoms will clash and that the fate of Avion and the magics within it will be determined by brawn and not brain. Others think that the dimensional fissure is a sign of the apocalypse and that soon an unholy army will pour unto the lands to destroy all life. The truth is yet to be discovered, and the choices of your character may very well change the course of Avion forever.
Summary: In a kingdom unfamiliar to magic arises a conflict spanning all of the nations. Scholars from a college in the northern-most reaches of the lands have located an underground archive full of stones that empower their host with magical powers and scrolls depicting ancient magical devices..but is it magic, or demonic influence? Is it safe or is it too risky for the hands of mortals? Were they meant to discover this or was it a creation by the gods cast away meant to stay hidden? Avion is on the brink of war and demands answers.

A brief summary of your character.
What is your character's name? (name)
What do the locals call them? (nicknames)
How old are they? (age)
What is their profession?[.b] (job)
In short, what characteristics do they posess?
A summary of their history would be...
What equipment do they carry?
Anything else?
did you read the rules? (then go read them.)
>>>1: My biggest rule that I enforce in all of my threads.. Be literate! You're a smart, educated person I have no doubt! But please take advantage of that and make well thought out, neatly constructed posts! It doesn't matter how much content you can fit into a post, but what does matter is that it looks nice, flows, and contributes to the roleplay.
>>>2: There is to be absolutely no "godmodding" "powerplaying" "autokilling" "autohitting" or any of the sort! I trust you all know what these are. There are exceptions, however.
- Exception a) You may autohit NPC characters. But don't take this to the extreme. Don't go around randomly killing NPC's unless you're ready to face the consequences. Roleplay actions have roleplay consequences that mimmick real consequences. Kill an NPC? You're going to have people hunting you down. This can very from an angry mob with pitchforks to an entire city full of guards. Post smart.
Exception b) Small autohits are alright. Things like slapping, posting, grabbing a characters hand and pulling them, pushing them, etcetera. Why? Because it would require a bunch of short one-liners to accurately give every character time to react to these, and they don't do harm.
Exception c) Me, or any other GM's that I may or may not appoint, reserve the right to do things in the roleplay that others may not, such as creating huge plot shifts, or massive changes to the roleplay. Things like the fall of nations, the creation of armies, etcetera.
>>>3: As in all of my roleplays I don't create posting minimum or maximum requirements. I don't mind if you post three liners, or three paragraphs. As long as you're not disrupting the flow of the roleplay, and are able to convey enough content and meaning for other roleplayers to work with, than by all means post any length you want, as fast as you want. There is no posting order, either. I feel that these limit the speed at which a roleplay can grow.
- Exception a) I don't want you posting one or two liners. That's simply not putting any effort forth. You may do it, if it is absolutely necessary, but it should not be. But I understand writers block and how severe it can get.
Exception b) Don't overtake other roleplayers and slip in a post every time someone else does it. (player a posts, player b posts, player a posts, player c, a, d, a, b, a, c.. you get the idea. Player a is completely overdoing it.)
>>>4: This isn't necessary but I highly reccomend you plan battles between player characters. It smooths things out and keeps things flowing, and creates a more friendly environment!
>>>5: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, INTENTIONALLY TROLL, FLAME, WHINE, DISRESPECT, SLANDER OR INHIBIT OTHER ROLEPLAYERS ABILITY TO ENJOY THIS AND HAVE FUN. Why? Because if you do, Omega Shenron will eat your soul. Yeah, I'm that serious.
Don't be afraid to ask questions in the OOC! Form plot twists, plans, grand designs, anything you want - I don't even care if it's simply friendly chatter, have fun with it and create a friendly environment. This isn't really a rule, this is just advice. I'm going to try to keep the OOC thread up to date with lots of healthy information about the roleplay, as well, so it'll probably pay to get familiar with it.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 10 authors
Immediately the pitterpatter turned into a constant thud as the wagon had stepped onto the brick and stone clad road known as the Highway of Avion. The road was barren, an unusual trait given that the Highway of Avion was a rather populous commerce route that, under normal circumstances, would be packed with wagons and travelers alike.
After some two hours of traveling down the Highway of Avion the farmer had reached the main gates of Stormhale. They were magnificent, they reached high into the sky and were powerful and elegant, almost divine in nature. Two marble columns stood powerfully wielding golden grates that stretched almost a hundred feet straight up with granite walls extending as far as the eye could see. They did not compare to the walls of Valtrenna, but they were surely a spectacle to behold. The farmer was in awe, this was his first time delivering crops to the Stormhale Marketplace- he had seen nothing like this before. The gates were open, of course, and he and his wagon proceeded through them, the roads still barren. The only other company was that of a slight breeze and the scorching sun above.
Faintly in the distance could he hear the sound of clammering citizens, was it a riot? No, but it sounded like one. As he passed numerous houses and workshops and businesses with Stormhale Banners hanging from them the sound of clammering grew exponentially louder until it was almost a roar. Finally the farmer could see what it was all about - hundreds of citizens were gathered around the grand square, a massive flat location used to issue royal decrees. High atop the crowd in a balcony on a marble wall stood the king infront of a throne desperately trying to calm the crowds. It was total chaos, dissent - everyone seemed to be screaming something else.
"The magi stones must be destroyed!"
"The magi stones must be preserved!"
"We must use them to destroy Valtrenna!"
Everyone had a different argument but all the same focal point - the magi stones. "Silence!" the king roared to an almost godly volume. The crowds began to grow silent gradually until total silence. "The Magi stones are indeed powerful - but too powerful for the likes of man. As your king I must bow to your biddings as citizens, though we musn't act hastily. The stones are perhaps dangerous, and with the discovery of the Rift we musn't treat them as weapons or toys!" King Aelus spoke powerfully but sincerely to the audience of citizens who responded well to his words. They respected him and trusted him. This was one of but many speeches about the magi stones, a campaign of his to rally the citizens of Stormhale to agree upon the destruction or containment of the stones; and his campaign was working. Not long ago was the kingdom in complete dissent, now they are much more tame. Though whether or not the King of Valtrenna was managing his kingdom as well as King Aelus was another story.
King Aelus turned and walked away from the crowd into his castle's grand balcony chamber. It was a soothing lounge quite massive in size that was exquisitely decorated with banners, artwork and expensive furniture. He sat upon one of the six silky red couches that had been huddled around a fire burning slowly and valiantly within a fireplace. King Aelus let out a heavy exhale and rested his head on one hand. He was in extroardinarily deep thought about the magi stones. He didn't know what to make of them, but he wasn't about to put his citizens at risk.
The giant, brown eagle could not agree with Zechariah more. The winds were favorable, the sun did not pose a problem, and no precipitation hindered their visibility. It was perfect weather to fly. The only problem was that down below, the Marketplace was packed. Something important apparantly happened, and the 21-year-old hunter missed the announcements. To make matters worse, the traffic meant he had to wait for quite some time before landing. Two hours later, Deborah finally found a spot to land. Zechariah fed her a trout before dismounting and heading to the butcher's stall, deer on his back.
He carefully handed her the carcass inside the bag. "Looks like there was a speech, or something, because I had to wait a long time to land! What gives?"
The butcher counted the coins to pay as she responded to the query. "Oh, just the usual rants and such about the magi stones. So far, it's been all talk, but from what I've seen, our great king calmed everybody down. There's still a long way to go, as far as convincing everybody to destroy or contain those things goes. I wish somebody would volunteer to find them and do something about it, then we would not have so much fuss over the topic!"
"You think?" Zechariah put the gold in his pack. "It'd sure make trips to here much easier! I might as well volunteer, destroy those rocks, and get it over with!"
"Good luck with that! You're gonna need it!"
BOOM! was the sound made as a door of a worn down house was forced open with more power than needed, and people with lavish clothes and swords came rushing in, demolishing the thing that was once used to close the entrance. They seized the children and a man, who was the father of these poor beings. They wore tattered black rags that were once white a long time ago, and the house reeked with the smell of man and children who have not washed for months and months. A guard who was holding the man caught a glimpse of this smell and started to react. Then many more started to complain of the smell, holding their noses and cursing.
"Aw why are we stuck in this muckhole," said one guard.
"Yea, we could be out in the plains relaxing and taking a break!" exclaimed another.
"I know what you mean," replied the guard "I don't even know why I signed up for this job."
"You can leave if you want." said a low but stern voice.
"Yea but this is a high paying job you know," said the guard without noticing the different voice. "Heck if I--" His word was dropped from his mouth as he turned around to see who it was. Standing behind him in black armor with the red cross engraved in the chest plate of the armor stood Astral Azcus.
"S-s-ss-sir!" exclaimed the guard as he stood up to salute him. Then the noises of complaint dissipated, and all the guards with one voice said "sir!" and stood up to salute him.
"You all know that we represent the kingdom of Stormhale," said Astral as he looked around at the guards, "we as the enforcers of the kingdom should be noble and strong. However you all should know better than to complain at the stench of the poor. You and I were privileged to be raised in a well suited environment, but that privilege is not meant to be used as a factor to distinguish you from them. We are after all, human, so we shall be treated equal, as humans."
"You all shall be punished for your complaint and misbehavior." continued Astral "And as for you Ardent, you shall get twenty lashings on top of the punishment given to the group for not holding your job to be of importance. You are lucky that I am not expelling you from the group." With that Astral motioned for two men standing out side to take Ardent, the guard, away to get whipped. Screams could be heard as they ripped him out of his seat and took him to the chamber.
All the guards stood in silence.
"Now for what we came for," said Astral turning to the children and man who were looking at him with a mix of fear and reverence, "Edmund of the plains, you are hereby fined 400 shackles of silver for the acts of multiple thievery. Pay with silver or your life."
"Please sir," said Edmund going on his knees "I am a poor man, and my children needed food. I-i-it all went down hill when my wife died and I lost my job. you see.... Sir please, please. Oh God have mercy. I was hungry and the food looked so good, then my child was sick and the medicine, oh why did I take it! Sir, please have mercy." At the sound of their dad's desperation the children began to wail.
"That's enough of ya" said one of the guards and punched the man in the stomach making him kneel "a crime is a crime whether committed by the poor or rich. If you cannot pay with money, then pay with your life."
"Please... hack ack ack.... sir... ack heck.... I don't have any money" said the man coughing trying to regain his wind.
"Well, if you do not have any money, I guess I have no choice." said Astral reaching at his waist where his sword lay unsheathed in it's case. The children began to run to their father, but the guards grabbed them before going any further. One of the guards smirked to another, as they stood waiting for the glorious moment. Astral's eyes were cool and calm and no emotion was flowing out of him. Edmund closed his eyes embracing himself for the beheading. He could hear metal clinking which was probably the sword. Then he heard sounds like that of glass breaking. He opened his eyes and in front of him was a sack.
"Take this, that should be enough to pay for your fine and the door we broke." Said Astral "learn a lesson from today, never break the law under any circumstance. Start anew, this should be enough to open up a business, I can even get you a stand outside the street if you want. Guards release him."
"I knew he would do that." Said one of the guard to another as he released the boy from this grasp.
"Guards we're leaving," Astral said. The guards began leaving the worn down house as the children embraced their father, who burst into tears of joy at the mercy of this enforcer. He had to know his name. "Sir," asked the man shyly "if I may have your name...."
"It's Astral," he said as he left.
"Thank you sir Astral!" said the man, wiping away his ever-flowing tears.
"Well, there goes your month's worth of salary." said a man dressed in royal clothes standing out side the house.
"Porter! How does my liege fare?" said Astral with a bow.
"He does well, physically, however mentally he is in distress."
"Oh, what's wrong?"
"It's the Magi Stones, stone that have profound power beyond human powers."
"Oh, I heard of those before. They say that these powers are unmatchable.... Anyway what brings you all the way out here?"
"To fetch you, the king is sending you on a special mission. your first I believe."
"A mission..... to where shall I report"
"The castle by noon. I have a ride ready for you."
"It's okay I'll ride there by myself."
"Suit your self."
"Send my liege my greetings."
"Tell him yourself. You will see him."
"See him...." repeated Astral too himself as Porter rode away off into the distance.
Astral rode into the big gates of the main city on his white horse. There he drifted off into the market place looking at the objects there without thinking about it. All that was on his mind was his mission. What could the mission be. Why was he chosen. How was he going to the task. Where-
Astral's trend of thought was broken as he bumped into a man who seemed built naturally and had two visible scars on his face.
"I beg your pardon," said Astral as he bowed, and went on. Soon after he was at the castle gates.
"Halt who goes there!" said one of the guards.
"Astral Azcuz of the red cross knights. I am here to see the king."
"For what reason are ye seeking the king?"
"He has a mission for me." said Astral as he held out the letter that Porter gave engraved with the royal seal.
The guard took a good look at it and then, bowed. "Come right this way," he said as he lead Astral into the castle.
"Sir, Astral please wait here, the king will be with you shortly" said the guard as he walked across the huge flight of stairs into the king's chamber.
Zechariah went to the other guard, requesting an audience.
"For what reason, might I ask?"
"I volunteer to find those Magi stones everyone's been talking about! If anyone else is going on that trip, I want to join them!"
"What a coincidence!" The guard laughed. "Sir Astral was assigned that same mission! Follow me!"
It did not take long to meet up with the knight in black armor. The thought of one person being given such a responsibility made the hunter wonder what Aelus was thinking. How can one man, even a knight, handle all the challenges ahead? Maybe There was not much risk, to begin with.
"Let me guess? It has to do with the Magi Stones? You look like you could use a hunter with an eagle! I'm seeking an audience with the King, anyway!" Zechariah brushed some dust off his leather tunic. "Good ol' Aelus! What would have happened to my sister and I without him, back at Falcon Forest?"
He brought out a few berries and held out the hand with them to Astral. "I'm Zechariah Lex Ossi, but you can call me Zechariah, or Zech!"
"Yes, thank you, please send him in," King Aelus responded gazing deeply into the magnificent fireplace still within the grand balcony chamber. "And have somebody bring in more wood for the fire - I hear cold winds are heading our way."
"Yes, my liege. But there is another - a volunteer to aid your knight in hunting down the Magi Stones," the guard added with somewhat of an uncertainty showing in his voice.
"A nobleman?" Aelus questioned, he did not want to entrust such a high priority task to just anyone however if they were capable he seemed no harm in it. He was assigning the task to a high ranking knight of his, so there wasn't much room for error.
"No, a hunter, though he seems capable enough."
"We need all the help we can get, I suppose. Send them in."
"Yes, my liege."
King Aelus stood and faced the wooden doors as they were opened by guards bearing massive steel halberds. It was mainly for show, though if it came to regicide the halberds were a great defense. Immediately he had ran his eyes over the hunter to assess him. "Ah, I believe we have encountered eachother once before, have we not?" Before Zechariah could respond, King Aelus walked over to Zechariah to shake his hand. "You are the one who chose land over knighthood! A very noble decision, if I do say so myself; you are certainly one to be admired."
He then diverted his attention over towards Astral. "As are you, Knight Azcus! I have a task for you both- you probably already know what this task is. The Magi Stones.. we can not let those brutes over in Valtrenna acquire them. They must be respected, treated with care, admired and not used as playthings or weapons. However I am not sending you alone - there is a man I wish for you to seek out. His name is Rubius Makarrah, though you would recognize him as Scholar Makarrah. Have either of you a past with him?" Aelus inquired to the both of them as he maneuvered back over towards one of the couches before plopping down on one gently.
There was a second figure whom Aelus wanted the two to connect with, Knight Mornmist, however he would prefer to inform them of Scholar Makarrah first, given his extensive knowledge on the Ancients and the Magi.
He was familiar with the man, but never spoke a word to him. Much of what happens in Eagle Forest does so while hunting goes on, leaving little time for conversation. Even if Zechariah had time, he would have a hard time conversing, since he is not quite a social person.
Aelus’ message echoed through the crowd and temporarily sated their unease. When the herald had be adjourned, the king retreated back into his chambers with a face encumbered by affliction. She watched him depart soundlessly and joined him off the terrace. Aquila was still and silent as ice, so much so one could often forget her presence, and when she stood guard, she was seemingly a statue forged or rime. The king made his way to the hearth and took a seat, and she stood away in a corner void of the fire’s radiance. Her lackluster eyes flickered for the flames and watched them twist and contort in a savage dance, until the sound of footsteps deterred her eyes from the jive. Her fingers did not move for the hilt of Frostfang, but were always resting casually upon the pommel. When the owner of the steps entered, she listened…
“My King, the knight you have summoned is awaiting your audience. Do you wish I bring him in?" the guard spoke. The man’s boldness irked her, but she ignored the slight. Weapons after all, did not speak. The rest of the cabal gathered into the chamber, and she studied the vessels of each soul.
Interesting.
As he got closer to the door he could hear the voices flood all around him. All talking over each other. Shouting and raising their voices. Had they learned nothing? He had tried to get them to conform to civil conversation with everyone taking turns to raise their opinion, but it always ended up with them talking over one and other and being subsequently offended by the other. It made days like this a literal royal pain in the ass.
He pushed open the large oak doors which triggered a unanimous silence in the throne room. Everyone looked in his direction and then bowed down on one knee. He glided towards the throne and took his seat. "Well then, what was so important that I needed to be disturbed during my time off?". The silence was fragile. No one wanted to speak, no one wanted to anger the king.
One noble stepped forward and cleared his throat. "Your majesty if I may. We were again discussing the 'magi stones' and the great rift that has opened up in the skies above us. We were talking about whether it would be a good idea to invade Stormhale?" The noble slowly sank back into the crowd that had gathered. Bróen sighed and rubbed his forehead. "For the last fucking time." He shouted. "We cannot simply invade Stormhale. How do we know they have not already unlocked the powers of these stones. How do we know they can't incinerate our entire army as we march forward. How do we know what these bloody stones do? I will not the risk the entire safety of my kingdom for something that could be so dangerous. Don't get me wrong I want these things more than any of you but I will not blindly go marching into an unsure fate for some rocks that so far have done nothing but scaremonger with that bloody rift over our heads." He lowered his voice and took a deep breath. "What we need right now is a diplomatic solution if only temporarily. We need to arrange a meeting with 'King Aelus'."
Griff surely thought it was ironic how his fellow nobles if you could call them that, a more proper word for them would be lackeys kissing the royal ass so they wouldn't have to face the iron shackles and guillotine, were arguing on what to do about the magi stones. As they argued Griff stood back in the shadows of the royal court wasting time with the young guards in their burnish armor and perfectly polish halberds at hand as he waited for the king to enter the court and silence his lackeys. This was as usually routine for the court as ever except for one thing. This time it was different because he had something to grandstand at the court this fine day, yet it is not time yet for him to show what he has. The fine emperor hasn't even had time to settle on his throne and listen to the bickering of his feeble lackeys.
So that is what Griff did for most of the day just standing there with his back against the wall waiting until he thought it was time for him to show what he had to show. When the bell rang for the seventeenth hour Griffian pushed himself off against the wall and whispers, "Time for me to have some fun." Without care who he forces out of his way he moves onto the center of the court where the crest of Valtrenna lays.
Coughing loudly he gets the attention of the squabbling nobles, the guards fresh out of the war academy, and the vigorous emperor himself. Smirking he bows to the emperor then starts his show, "My fellow lords and my mighty emperor many of you have heard of the magi stones. The mystifying, all-powerful stones that give you the power of the supernatural. The power to create oceans with one snap of your fingers and destroy mountains with another. The power to heal mortal wounds that would bring down even the strongest of strongest. Yes these all powerful objects that seem to come from the tales that our elders would tell us as we hundled around the hearth. Well I think the day has come for us to go and meet Stormhale on the battlefield and destroy the only threat that is stopping us from going to the north and getting those magi stones." Some of the nobles gasp at what he says, others yelled up in agreement, while most just sulked farther into the shadows of the court trying to hide from the fury they expected from their emperor. Griffian just continue to smille deciding that it was time to show what he acquired.
Everyone in the courts quieted when Lord Griffian pulled out a stone about the size of a fist from his pocket in his trouser. It was a light blue color almost white that radiated a dull almost unnoticeable blue glow. It was ice cold to the touch that it felt more like ice than a stone. This was a magi stone. How Griffian got it is a mystery to all except for him. And that is how it was going to be. "Yes my colleague and my lord emperor this is a magi stone. This is our first step in controlling the magi stones. Controlling Avion." He ended his rant with that. He was answered with an uproar of agreements from the nobles, but he ignore them all just looking at the emperor to see his reaction. Everything counts on what he did.
The King gripped his seat tightly as the ground begun to shake violently. The walls vibrated, furniture shifted slightly and paintings had been turned crooked. A chandelier rocked dangerously back and forth above and small pebbles fell from the ceiling. The violent vibrations had ceased as fast as they had begun, lasting a total of three seconds. "Damned Magi Stones!" Aelus exclaimed, he was rather quick to connect them to the earthquakes. Aelus saw them as nothing but trouble and was certain they were causing the earthquakes. This was not the first to plague Stormhale, there have been a total of three earthquakes so far, each lasting some three seconds each. They were not deadly, but they weren't natural.
"Make haste, travel to the outskirts of Stormhale's walls. You will find Scholar Makarrah's tower due west in the plains, not far from the Highway of Avion. Tell him you were sent by me, and he will know what to do," Aelus instructed the three.
This was more than he usually had time to say in Eagle Forest. However, he never had to opportunity for much chatting, to begin with. That makes him pretty rough around the edges. Immediately, we went to the door.
"Well, fellas, you comin'?"
Loki leaned against the wall of the stone corridor using all of his willpower to keep his eyes open. The boring dribble of nobles and politicians never interested him much. The hall was crammed with members of the court arguing their stance. “Magi Stones” These two words have put the entire lands in turmoil. With these stones the world has produce more cowards and idiots than ever before. The cowards fearing the unknown, wanting to destroy the stones before any research is done. Then you have the idiots who automatically assume they are a source of power to claim and utilize for warfare. No one seems to notice or care about the massive two mile long split in the sky. If the magi stones are weapons used by some ancient force… Then who were they used against? Everyone seems to dismiss the fissure because its high in the sky. Suddenly the king entered the hall to hear the pleas and request of the high strung nobles. Many pleaded for the king to invade Stormhale. Like the arrival of the Magi Stones had forced a shift in the balance of power. "Ignorant simpletons, we have no intelligence concerning the matter. The stones could be a Stormhale invention. Our walls have never been breached in its history. These storms could be a method to circumvent that." All of a sudden the Emperor's Hound began marching to the center of the court with a fierce purpose set in his mind.
Griff gave a long winded speech telling of the stones majestic power. He talked about the stones creating oceans, destroying mountains, healing wounds, and other fantasies. Loki laughed to himself thinking there have been no destroyed mountains, new ocean structures, or miraculous wounds being cured. He sighed and though Griff was nothing more than another deadly sword. He was just as eager as the rest to meet Stormhale on the battlefield to obtain the magi stones. "It seemed as though Loki was the only Valtrennan around that had not seen a shift in power or opportunity to attack. Everyone claims these stones are so powerful but no demonstration of their power has been witnessed."[i/] He watched carefully as Griff held up a light blue orb in its hand. The orb pulsed and seemed to be frozen to the touch. The nobles began to gossip amongst themselves in a rowdy fashion. Even with Griff holding a stone, no demonstration of its power had been shown. To wage a war with no information is a task only the ignorant would take part in." Loki looked around the court and realized that he was actually surrounded by idiots.
Loki pulled his hood over his head and turned to leave the meeting court. He suddenly realized that many of the citizens wanted war. These Magi Stones have sparked the flames of war stirring throughout many of the decrepit old geezers. Although the Valtrennan king may be charismatic he is still young and inexperienced. In order to sate the desires of many of the nobles he will eventually have to submit to their demands for conflict. [i]"It's time for me to travel to the College of the Ancients and see what information I can gather. We need real intel and not wild speculations and myths."
"With all due respect, gentlemen, even if you were able to use that against my home, how do you it will not destroy you, as well? If we do solid research on them, which can only be achieved if both nations work together, we may pinpoint their advantages and disadvantages, plus possibly find a way to end the rift!" As she spoke, her dove symbol on her brown leather dress could be seen by the High General. "My brother, Zechariah Lex Ossi, has seen much animal aggression in Eagle Forest that is unnatural since the beginning of that same rift! As a well-experienced hunter, he knows when wildlife feels threatened by something just by observing its behavior! If it continues and spreads, not even your walls can protect you, regardless of how well they served you, thus far! The stones might or might not be responsible, but there could still be a chance they could be related to something else potentially dangerous or even help us turn the unfortunate events around! I am asking you, not just as the Dove of Stormhale, but also as the daughter of two knights killed by an assassin's hand and the sister of a brave and caring hunter, to help Stormhale study the stones and pinpoint the source of this rift, once and for all!"
Griff felt a slight tingle in the back of his mind when he was giving that speech. Someone was watching him that was more than just a dimwit noble that was surrounding him currently, it was someone that was more intent in what his words meant than what he said. To snoop out one of the few people in the court that actually had half a brain he turned slowly showing the nobles the magi stone, as he did that he searched throughout the crowds. He smiled when his eyes fell upon a cloaked figure leaving the court. "A Loki I wasn't expecting you to be here to watch my show. Oh what he must think of me spitting about war and such. Power hungry probably is what he thinks. He wouldn't be half wrong though"
Griff lifts his hand to tell the guards to stop the fleeing Loki from leaving the court, but out from the crowd the pesky diplomat from Stormhale calls the attention of all the other nobles and emperor to her. From her lips she spouts words of cooperation between Stormhale and Valteranna working together to study the magi stones and find the source of the rift. It was hilarious to the assassin/noble how innocent the Dove of Stormhale was. She acted like it was simple for the two kingdoms to work together. And maybe it was that simple, but Griff didn't care this broad was going to ruin his plans if she was able to unite Valteranna and Stormhale together and he just couldn't let this happen. He waits until the girl is finished then counters, "Ah yes Dove that would be nice wouldn't it. Us and Stormhale working together to study the magi stone and find the origins of the Rift in perfect harmony. Well until Stormhale gets what it wants and stabs us in the back. Fellow nobles do not listen to this Dove-feathered Viper all she wants us to do is open ourselves up so Stormhale can come and wash us away into oblivion so no one can stand against them as they control everything. Listen to me your fellow Valtrennan not the Dove. Let Velteranna prosper always and forever" He lifts his clenched fist into the air.
A roar of agreement erupts from the crowd of nobles and continues on for a few more minutes. Griff then continues after the crowd quiets, "However even though I don't believe in what the Dove spouts I think we should give her chance. Emperor let the Dove and me go to the College of the Ancients with a few others and find out what we can. If not for that reason then we should go anyway because a party from Stormhale is heading that way as we speak. With that I am done my emperor"
"Assassin, if you think I would want a war personally, you are seriously mistaken! You have no idea what Zechariah and I went through for seven years after one of you from a different nation killed our parents, fully trained knights, and pursued us! Had the crusaders from Stormhale not arrived and given Zechariah the chance to shoot the killer, he and I would not be alive to this day! Don't tell me after that amount of time, you would rather face humiliation than be involved in a war! That was why my brother did not want to be a knight, anymore! Emperor, he would have been so much like you, had his career not ended! You two would have gotten along well!" Tears began to show. "I'm begging you, please keep him alive! He sacrificed so much to protect me, including knighthood! If he were to die because of me, I would not forgive myself!"
Meanwhile, the nobles were once again in dispute. They argued about whether to believe her. At this rate, if the assassin wanted all of them on his side, it was useless. What she said, whether it was her intention or not, was enough to break the unanimous support he had.
Loki slowly paced his way leaving the court when his path was interrupted by two guards. "Sir we cannot allow you to leave yet. Sir Griff of the Order of the Scythes has request you stay," the guard spoke with a trembling sound in his voice. A devious grin grew over Loki's face as he stared at the guards. He steadily approached the guards like a predator preparing to pounce on its prey. Out of the cuff of his gauntlets two small blades began to protrude under his hand. Just as Loki was about to strike, a figure within the crowd caught his attention. Her long blonde hair swayed as she walked into the court. Loki slid his blades back under his gauntlets and told the guards if the Fifth Blade wishes to speak with me then I will wait to see what he has to say. He then turn and slowly approached the blonde woman. Loki recognized the woman as the infamous Dove of Stormhale. A sigh of disappointment came flushed over his face. "Not only do we have to deal with ignorant and cowardly nobles, but they were stupid enough to allow the enemies diplomat to learn of this meeting. No one but the High General would have told her the court was convening today. That lecherous old man, I may need to silence his ignorance sooner rather than later."
The blond woman began speaking of her home and the need for research on the Magi Stones. She then began speaking of her brother and the increased animal aggression within Eagle Forest. She spoke of her brother with such pride as though he were a warrior known throughout the land and not some common hunter living in the woods. She then spoke of how her parents were killed by an assassin as though that had any relevance on the matter. Loki placed his hand over his face and let out a quite chuckle. "Well at least the nobles of Stormhale are as stupid as the ones of Valtrenna" he uttered.
As soon as the woman finished speaking Griff countered her reply with tales of collusion, betrayal, and trickery by Stormhale. Loki laughed to himself realizing that Griff was planning to perform every act he accused the woman of performing. Griff ended his speech by with a few words of patriotism and lifting his fist in the air. The nobles all cheered and applauded. Loki then realized that the Dove of Stormhale had played directly into Griff's hands. Now that the entire court was in agreement with Griff it was only a matter of time before the King was forced to consent as well.
After Griff's speech the Dove began to lose her composure. Something he said must have infuriated her greatly. She berated him calling him an assassin and blaming Valtrenna for her parents death and their persecution. She then began to shed tears and plead for the emperor too save her brother's life. Loki then began to ponder the purpose of Stormhale's king sending her as a diplomat. Not only did she fail to persuade the court but she revealed information that Stormhale was sending a party to the College of the Ancients. All reports stated the king of Stormhale possessed a brilliant political mind, but this was a move of sheer ignorance... Or was it?.. Now the king of Valtrenna would have to respond by sending a party there as well. Loki then approached the diplomat and Griff and began to speak softly.
"You're not a very good diplomat are you. Do you really not realize the predicament you are in. What proof do you have that Valtrenna was responsible for your parents death. You are also quick to call one of the Order of the Scythes an assassin. You claim your brother is a mere hunter, but he does serve the king of Stormhale doesn't he? Would he kill for you king? That makes him no better than an assassin and makes you an ignorant child for believing otherwise. You do not seem to understand that in this hall you are an enemy. It would be wise for you to speak more carefully and carry you self in a more dignified manner if you value your life." Although his words were harsh he felt the woman needed to hear them and realize the situation she was in. The fifth blade or many of the other nobles could have her executed at any time. If Valtrenna killed a Stormhale diplomat then war would be inevitable. Although as he pondered the thought that the chaos of war could put an end to his constant boredom.
She quickly realized she was not behaving like she should. Not even bothering to look at anyone, she brushed away the tears and said, "Thank you for your time! I shall wait outside for your response!"
Hannah did not say anything else. When she looked at the guards and walked trhough the door, she waited outside to see what they had to say.
When finally King Aelus bellowed like a storm, the very air seemed to still as the crowd silenced. Lanna felt his words fill even the slightest gaps between people as they stood in one great cluster, soothing them. He spoke with wisdom that could only come from a king as old as Aelus. When he finished his small speech, Lanna felt herself filled with pride for her kingdom and wise king. She had always admired her king. She felt no doubt in wishing to someday stand in his army to protect all of Stormhale.
Yet... it seemed now Stormhale was so insignificant in the greater scheme of things, a threat that hovered above all of Avion. It felt like no mere coincidence that Lanna had found her way back home after six years of traveling and learning about the world. The young warrior still stood in the grand square as the crowd began to split apart. She did what she always did at that moment. She waited for a feeling to guide her in the right direction. Within mere minutes, the shine of royal armor in the sunlight caught her eye, and she discreetly followed, making her way towards the castle itself. She did not know how she would go about requesting an audience with the king, but she knew she could not leave Stormhale again until she did so.
Her thoughts spoke to her quietly as she trailed behind the small group of royal soldiers. "Six years has brought me here. This is my destiny. I must find the magi stones."
"Ah, Avion how you've done me in. Mistreated and beaten up you have left me- even moreso your beloved servants and mistresses," an old and weak voice spoke softly. The voice came from a bearded man who stood on the top of a staircase in front of the tower. The staircase was part of the tower, it was connected to the only door into the structure. It consisted of only seven steps, each a different height and length all inscribed with mysterious designs. The figure stood holding a dusty tome in hand which was opened to the exact center pages.
"You've beaten me down, worn me away with your magi. Vast are the planes of Avion, even more so the magi within. Those who harness the magi power must first harness their own will," the voice continued. The scholar was not speaking to anybody, in fact he was not particularly aware that he was speaking at all. The old man had a tendency to speak while reading scriptures and tomes. "I apologize, I appear to have been-"
Rubius paused before taking in the realization that he was all alone. He had fooled himself into believing that there were others around. Perhaps his old mind was beginning to finally take a turn for the worse. He was a wise man indeed, but old, and as with all old men their intelligence soon begins to fog and haze.
I wonder where those knights are, the man thought to himself. He was sent a letter describing a handful of knights that were to venture his way so they could travel to the College of the Ancients. Ah, the college... it was an intriguing construct to Rubius. He had never traveled there, but always wanted to. Oh, just the thought of the knowledge contained within their walls! And even more, the knowledge contained within the tomes discovered in that vault! The thought alone made Rubius grinning with joy. His passion was the ancients, he wanted to know everything about them.
Perhaps I should travel to meet them at the highway.. to save time. The thought lingered in his mind for quite some time.
"So, you want to find the stones, too, huh? Well, I already volunteered and am waiting on a couple of knights to get ready before we head on out to find Makarrah! If you want to go on this mission, you might as well lend us a hand! We'll tell Aelus about you when we get back!"
Just then, the eagle came and landed next to him. "You never cease to impress me, Deborah! Good girl!" He turned his face back towards the woman, watching his tone to seem calmer. "If you're worried about getting a mount, she can handle two people at a time. I'd have my sister fly to Eagle Forest with me all the time, I would know."
Despite her strong, armored appearance, Lanna spoke in a voice that was delicate the one of a common maiden, of someone accustomed to only speaking when necessary. "How is it that you knew of my goal?" In her mind, her own voice, louder and clearer, resonating with confidence, answered her. "Fate. You were meant for this." As always, her heart compelled her to move with the flow of things, letting the course of events around her guide her to where she would be needed the most. She seemed to think for a long moment, appearing to be concentrating intently to anyone passing along.
Finally, she lifted her gaze to the man, eyes only shifting slightly to catch the landing movements of the great eagle that landed beside him. Keeping her gaze fixed on this creature, she spoke gently, her voice calm, but certain. "Yes, I'm glad to come along. I have traveled a great distance for this. I cannot hope to guess how you knew my intentions, but for this perfect coincidence, I am grateful." She moved her gaze from the bird to the man, a small smile on her lips. "My name is Arlanna, Arlanna Valren. I welcome you to call me Lanna, if you would like. Please, lead the way to your group of knights, friend."
At that moment, Lanna felt herself filled with a sense of great ease, confident more than ever in her choice to leave home all those years ago, to pursue a quest to find her own purpose in the world. For so long, she had wondered if she was simply insane, if her constant "feelings" of being meant for something great were just her imagination. Now, everything was pointing her straight to the magi stones, and rather blatantly. Despite her outwardly calm composure, Lanna almost felt herself shaking in excitement inside, eager to know what would happen next.
Slowly, Lanna drew in a breath as she stepped forward and carefully followed Zechariah's example, climbing atop the back of the large bird. Once seated and seemingly comfortable, though noticeably a bit tense, she reached forward to lightly hold onto the man's sides. She had never known herself to fear heights, but even still on the ground, she felt so high up as she peeked down briefly. Again, she drew in a breath, sitting still and waiting.
"Lead on, Zech," she began quietly, shutting her eyes. "I certainly do not mean to keep my allies waiting."

How about Valtrenna? Are you waiting for conor to post, or...?

Re: Avion Divided
Edit: I was rereading Griff Aethean's description, and I finally realized that in the picture, he was holding a bird on his arm. Before, my eyes had, for some reason, registered it as a strange helmet/mask of some kind.
Re: Avion Divided
EDIT: Pardon my language, but I hate when people think they are infallible. All I see in this roleplay are people who have the capability of good and evil.
With the rift coming, plus the animal aggression coming from it, I seriously doubt even Valtrenna can handle those wildlife once they are agressive enough.
Re: Avion Divided
Oh and Aquila is an npc from now on. Now that they've caught up with the gm there is no need for her. I really just wanted to use her to move the story forward. Felt like we were stagnant and almost dead there for a while.

I think you should just create a character. Or have your sword turn into one. By just being a sword your post will be dependent on whoevery your weilder is. If they slow down, drop off, or don't post regularly you will just be hanging in the wind.
Or create a character and have your sword take over their mind/being. That way you won't have to wait on anyone to interact with the rest of us.
I do intend to get a permanent wielder for Iridescence. I'm just saying that that is not set in stone. Things happen.
And since what I'm most interested in is the unique relationship between Iridescence and its wielder, it might be a bit boring if I also played the wielder myself. Even though that might make the conversations easier, I'd rather have an interesting one than an easy one.
Anyway, my point is: If I played the wielder myself as well, it would defeat the reason why I created Iridescence in the first place. It is supposed to be a character that can't really do anything itself. It just interacts with its wielder and others through telepathy, and observes things.
As for its wielder becoming inactive... Well, I'll just have to hope that doesn't happen. Or even if it does, that's where changing owners comes in.

Rule number 2.
>>>2: There is to be absolutely no "godmodding" "powerplaying" "autokilling" "autohitting" or any of the sort! I trust you all know what these are. There are exceptions, however.
I wouldn't do anything to your character you weren't ok with.
