Aylen glared back at Kiba, raised her head and bared her own teeth at Kiba. A menacing growl started in the back of her throat and made the air around her seem to vibrate. She watched Kiba tear away a front leg from the carcass and walk away, into the forest. Aylen snorted and went back to ripping the flesh from the carcass and eating her share.

As Nova journeyed back to where he assumed the others were, he heard a howl in the distance. He had not known the two she-wolves long enough to completely distinguish their calls, and only gave a parting guess to who it was, before walking towards the sound. Nova was tired of walking. He walked here, there, and everywhere it seemed like. When he finished this segment of life's grand game of walking, he arrived on the scene of Aylen tearing away at the flesh.

Seeing that the prime sections had already been stripped away, Nova didn't really see any reason to try and rush in. He watched her patiently, not saying a word. Her ravenous appetite was apparent, making his own hunger seem like a mild stomach ache in comparison. While he waited, as he had never expected or offered to be served first in his old pack due to his lack of rank, he glanced around at the billowing tree tops, the stoic heights of the mountains of the distance, and the hints of a long lost blue sky covered by a gray overcast day that hung over the woods. The forest never ceased to amaze him.

Aylen's ear twitched when she heard Nova somewhere behind her. She growled warningly but turned away. Her muzzle was covored in blood as she walked back to the bush she usually curls up in, close to Nova's rock. She stopped a foot away from her bush when she heard a screech and saw the great bird she had seen earlier. She smiled a wolfish grin and padded into her bush and curled up.

Nova remained passive as Aylen departed to where ever she often goes to be alone, and decided that he could finally relieve his hunger on whatever remained on the carcass. There was still a good chunk of savory meat about the flank, so Nova layed down there to begin eating. He noted that Kiba had been here as well, as there were two sets of bite patterns along the bone, and wondered where she had gone to. This pack didn't seem too coherent, he thought, with he being mostly apathetic when it comes to trying to form a solid relationship with the two of them, and Kiba and Aylen never seemed to stand less than five meters from each other willingly. This would be a long winter.

Kiba noisely gnawed on the food. She then fell asleep of what a pig she is. But, after 1 - 5 mins, she heard rustling of leaves. "
Probably another deer." Kiba said to herself. The sound sounded heavy, lighter then a bear but stronger then a deer. It got louder, so Kiba stood and scanned the area. But didn't see anything . Kiba growled and lifted her tail. She turned her head and saw a male wolf, running towards her. Kiba pounced on the wolf, and bit the wolf's back, but the wolf rolled over and bit Kiba's neck. Before he could get a grip, Kiba bit his snout and hard. He rolled over and Kiba got the chance to end him. She latched on to his throat, unable to breath, he stopped struggling and slowly died. The male wolf was large, black and full of battle wounds. Kiba also had a good fight, she came home with four scars on her throat.

Trotting at a moderate pace back to the general rendezvous point, Nova thought about how wonderful it would be to have a nap. A nice rest after eating a good meal was always a treat, a pleasure that he rarely got to indulge himself in. The sky didn't help this whimsical thinking, the overcast cloud cover seemed to be hinting at an imminent storm. Arriving at the rock, Nova smelt Aylen and saw Kiba, and took a moment to realize the former was in a thicket nearby and the latter was just arriving. "Goodness, what happened to you? Hunting accident? You realize Aylen already found some food, why didn't you just continue eating that?" Nova inquired, seeing the poor state of Kiba's throat.

Aylen opened her eyes, yawned and saw Nova and Kiba. She let out a small laugh. "Nova, your skill must be lacking. I didn't find it. Kiba did." Aylen stood up, and shook some leaves out of her fur. She saw Kiba's throat and grinned. "Was it a lone wolf?"
