Hunter looked at the black she-wolf and snorted. Aylen licked her chops which were still covored in the bear's blood. "Bear learned not to mess with us." She growled out. Her brother simply stood up and started walking in the opposite direction, away from the bear. Aylen looked at her brother and walked after him until they were walking side by side. "We should get out of here before some other.... hunters see us." Hunter spoke quietly but firmly. His ears flicked backwards listening for any sounds of someone or something following them. Aylen growled uneasily and lowered her head as she launched herself forward, leaping through the snow, and shortly afterwards she was followed by her brother. They ran like that a few hours, stopping when they came to a stream.
Hunter could see his breath in the cold weather but focused entirely on the ground. There was blood. A blood trail in Aylen's paw tracks. He growled and took in a deep breath. His sister smelled slightly of blood from the bear but if you dug deeper you could smell her own blood, under the bear's blood scent. "Where are you hurt?" He growled out.
Aylen looked up when she her brother. She was hurting but she was ignoring it ever since they left the bear far behind. "They bear caught me it's claws when you bit it's back leg. It's only a scratch." She whispered out and turned to the right. Hunter snarled when he saw the wound on her left hindleg. It was about five inchs long and it was deeper then it should be. "I was a fool. You smelt of the bear's blood. I was too blind to see your wound and or smell your own blood. You should have told me!" He snarled out. He was angry his sister didn't tell him, and that she hid it better then he ever could, but he was really worried. He lost one sister and he didn't want to lose another.
"Hunter, I'll be fine. Been worse, before. Didn't you say we had to go farther?" Aylen asked as she started licking her wound. "We should be, but now that your hurt we won't be going any further." Hunter turned as he spoke and started smelling the ground, and walked past a couple of trees. He stopped when he saw a bush big enough to hide a full grown wolf. "Here. You will hide her until I come back with some prey." He didn't give Aylen anytime to argue with him, because he turned, leaping away through the snow.
Aylen growled and glared after her brother. She looked at the bush and slowly made her way toward it. When she was close enough to push herself into, hiding herself within the bush.

His ears twitched slightly as a distant sound snapped him out of his thoughts, but after a moment without hearing it repeat, he dismissed it. Probably just some territorial howl from some arrogant wolf nearby. He had been journeying along the stream bank for a while now, and his earlier meal was beginning to fade. That was probably one of the toughest realizations that occurred to him in the months after leaving his pack, that he would have to feed himself. Of course, it wouldn't be that bad if he was proficient at all at tracking, but he lacked any such skill, and it was often by luck that he stumbled upon any suitable prey.
His nose suddenly picked up a familiar smell. Blood. And somewhat fresh. It was somewhat faint because the scent was being water downed by the moisture of the river, but it was indeed there. He marveled at his luck. A wounded prey just on the other side of the river, he judged. Nova looked for a suitable place to ford the river, and after finding it, crossed without hesitation. Didn't want whatever was there to move on. Already anticipating the meal that he was about to discover, Nova trotted along, nose in the air. One might figure that it would have been awfully easy for him to waltz right over to the source, but the scent wasn't strong, and the moisture in the air didn't help at all. Not to mention that the wind was dead calm, preventing the smell from being blown into his face.
Tracking never was fun.

Aylen felt a burst of pain in her left hind leg but she ignored it as she continued her attack. She used her size and weight to push the wolf over and roll him onto his back. She bared her white pointed teeth down at the stranger. "Who are you and what do you want? If you lie I'll snap your neck!" She snarled.

Hunter bolted out of his hiding place and after a newborn elk, that was barely learning out to stand. It was weaker then it should have been and was born at the wrong time of the year, but was that was the way of nature. Take the weak and live the healthy ones that will make more prey for the wolves. But before he could get close enough to he tripped over something that he didn't see before in the snow. He snarled and jumped to his paws and turned on the thing he tripped on. He blinked. It was a white she-wolf and instead of attacking her, he snarled, "Watch it!!"
Then Hunter turned and bolted after the now running away herd of elk, but the newborn elk and it's mother were still there. He stalked around the mother, watching her every move, waiting for an opening to attack the newborn elk. Then he saw it. The mother elk was slow to get in between him and the baby but he was fast when he darted toward the elk and bit into the back of it's neck. He jerked it backwards and felt the tension in the baby elk's muscles go limp. He lifted his head with baby elk in his jaws and slowly dragged it toward Aylen's hiding place.

Surprisingly cool headed for the situation, Nova responded simply "I was simply here to grab an easy meal, however I had no idea the prey I was looking for had such teeth and temper." He used that moment to roll himself to his feet in one quick motion, placing himself a couple meters from her. He waited for a hint of malicious movement, at which he would make his move to defend himself if needed.

He growled and sat down watching the she-wolf from a distance. "Hmm. Seems to me that your lost, and not me. My qustion is why are YOU here?" Hunter asked in a warning growl, that sounded smug and confident. He wasn't afraid of the she-wolf, mostly because she was wounded and was probably having a hard time staying alive.

"I was simply here to grab an easy meal, however I had no idea the prey I was looking for had such teeth and temper." Aylen let out a warning growl and limped backwards when the stranger got up and moved away. She layed her ears flat against her skull with her tail held high. "Don't mock me, scavenger." She spoke angrily. When he told her he was looking for an easy meal that sickened her a bit. He didn't really seem like a hunter but a scavenger and among most wolves being called a scavenger was an insult.
Aylen wasn't going to let her gaurd down in front of some wolf. Then all of a sudden she smelt it. Blood. Elk. Hunter. She growled at the wolf and started limping toward the smell. it wasn't long before she found the baby elk Hunter had killed. She knew Hunter had killed because it had his scent on it. Aylen threw herself at the food and started digging into it.

Surprised at her sudden movement, Nova stood at the ready for the expected attack, when he realized that she was backing down. Satisfied, he watched her for some time and was about to turn away when he saw her lay down and start eating something on the ground. Circling her, he saw that it was a baby elk, obviously dead for some time now. Nova couldn't help note the irony of this wolf and let out a small chuckle. "For one so eager to call others 'scavengers', you don't seem to care about eating a carcass you found in the middle of nowhere." he commented, and turned to see the small signs of how it got there. The grass bending back into shape, the broken twigs, and the displaced leaves on the ground showed the trail where the elk was dragged along. Maybe there was more food at the other end.
He didn't care to try and force the elk from the injured she wolf, for one it wasn't a very wise move as he didn't really want to be shown fighting over the carcass when it's supposed owner returned. Besides, he wasn't hungry, he had been planning the cache the food until later, for like most animals, he only ate when he was hungry, not for enjoyment.
Starting down the trail, he turned his back on the hypocritical wolf to show his lack of fear for her, and started down the trail.

Hunter bounded away from the strange she-wolf and off to find his sister and the baby elk carcass he left for her. When he got to where he left the hidden food, he found his sister already munching out on it, but there was something wrong with the picture. She didn't smell like her normal smell. Another wolf was here. He started sniffing the air around the carcass and his sister who was focused on eating. "Who else was here?"
Aylen looked up with a blood stained muzzle. "A stranger. Brute. I won. Do I have to mention anything else now?" She growled out as she started swallowing a chunk of steamy meat. Hunter checked on his sister's wound and let out a small whimpered which turned into a concerned growl. "Are you okay? If only... Lyra was here. She would know what herbs to use it make you better." Before he left Aylen reply he pounced on the food and started swallowing chunks Aylen couldn't swallow whole.

As he followed, he heard a sharp yelp pierce the air, and recognized it as wolfish. Perhaps it was a wolf in trouble taking down the said prey he was tracking. Maybe he could jump in to help and share the reward, or simply overpower the predator to take it all for himself. Either way, he padded quietly and quickly through the under growth, until he came to what had been the source. It was a small clearing with a puddle in the middle that had a fair amount of blood. The scent was definitely wolfish, and more likely a couple. And fresh. Had he stumbled upon a pack? He had been planning on resting out the season in the area, and didn't want to have a bunch of brutish neighbors. Perhaps he should investigate.
He followed the path of the two wolves carefully, stealthily. That was one advantage of a smaller frame, no bulk to carry tromping around in the forest. It was strange, he could have sworn he was going in a circle, until at last he realized, he was. From a secluded vantage point downwind, he noted three wolves, and of course, he recognized one of them from before. Intrigued at the small group, he watched.

Aylen was chewing on a bone when she saw Hunter's gaze on something in the distant. She looked over and her hackles raised up as she got to her paws with her tail lifted and her left hind leg on the ground. She felt the pain but it didn't mean anything to her, but finding out why Hunter wasn't doing anything. "Other wolves." She spoke flatly to her brother. "I know." Hunter replied. Aylen glared at the brute she called brother. "Well? Aren't we going to drive them off?" She asked. "No. I've been thinking. We won't get anywhere with you being injured. We need help. A pack."
Aylen's glare turned into a stare of astonishment. "Who are you and what have you done with my brother?" She knew Hunter and this was odd. He never wanted to join or make a pack of his own, but now... He's Changing. Hah! My own brother the one who hated packs wants make one... Aylen thought angrily, as she turned and started walking away, with a slight limp. Hunter turned and watched his sister stalk angrily away. He stayed where he was and sighed.
Aylen tensed her muscles and jumped over the small stream, but instead of landing on her paws, she stumbled and fell into the snow. She whimpered when a burst of pain shot up her left hindleg. She looked at her leg and saw that it was bleeding now, but it was worse then before. Aylen was angry and sad, but looked up at the sky and saw a cloud the shape of wolf legs spread out as if it was running. "Oh Lyra. You shouldn't have left us so early."

Heading through the trees toward the sound, Nova came upon the cool stream. Taking a few quick gulps from the surprisingly sweet water, he noted the tracks of the earlier she wolf and her body on the other side, laying upon the ground. Her injury must be getting to the best of her, he knew several wolves who lived in sorrow after getting hurt, as their prideful minds cannot deal with their useless bodies. He watched as the other wolf journeyed over to give help, a generous act, and watched to see the outcome, mindful that the forth wolf might be lurking about.

Hunter watched the scene from the kill sight. His gaze went to the white she-wolf and the strange grey brute. He walked over to the stream and let out a small growl. "You can take what you need from the kill, if you agree that we... could start a pack." He spoke to the Grey wolf and white she-wolf. "If your tryinging to help, she won't accept. Aylen's doesn't like help." He said those lost words to the she-wolf and sat down looking at his reflection in the water.

Making a pack would not be such a bad idea, Nova mused. It would be nice to, at least for a few seasons, to enjoy the security and companionship that came with it. Plus he didn't have to track all his food himself. "I may be willing to concur to starting a pack, although I would like to know why half of the wolves here are injured, is there some abnormal danger in this area I'm not aware of?" Nova asked, directed at the male. "I am Nova, son of Arid by the way." he added, seeing that Kiba had introduced herself.

Aylen watched her brother talk to the brute called Nova and the white she-wolf known as Kiba. She lifted her head when she heard the name. An ache inside her chest started and she let out another sad whimper. She knew another Kiba, someone important. She sat up and watched the strangers and sighed. "Fine." She spoke softly, barely above a whisper.
