Introduction
Kiba sniffed the warm summer air, and shaked off dirt off her snow white coat. It's not much camaflouge, but who needs to hide when your a big bad alpha female. She didn't have a mate or a pack, hence the reason she's searching for her mate. Kiba was a wolf with rare emerald green eyes, and precious icy snow white fur. Her temper was like a alpha. But she calms down in front of a pontential mate. But fairly aggresive towards intruders. Kiba was a lone wolf, she was always traveling, doing everything alone. Kiba shifted her head to the left, then to right. She inhaled and exhaled deeply. She raised her head towards the scorching sun, puffed up her cheast, and gave a long nice howl. She zipped off, searching and searching, for the life she wanted.

Aylen laughed. "Who said I wanted to be a alpha female?" she asked as she followed Kiba just to annoy her and hopefully to start a fight. "Yeah lone wolf. Except you just ran away from a bear. That's a fine example of a lone wolf." Aylen said with an edge. Her black eyes sparkled with the thought of sinking her teeth into Kiba's throat.

Kiba ignored the ignorant she - wolf, she even pretended to snore. Then finally said, "Hey, i never said you wanted to be alpha, and prove it, you reek of desperation. Now shoo off to your stupi- i mean irregular adventures." Kiba opened one eye and her emerald green eye was staring into her's, showing no fear, and showing the she - wolf no wish to fight.

Aylen laughed. "You know varg can't smell fear, anger or desperation. Unless your not a varg. Oh, Maybe you just an over grown fox." Aylen spoke using the word Varg which was what wolves called themselves. The varg. "Funny how your calling me desperate when your the one who is obviously desperate for the rank. I mean I have a fine example of what you are. Even after I say it you'll deny it, just like my sister. Your a brat. You deny the rank for alpha so you could have others beg you to be alpha. Or just that you can show others your a fine choice for the rank. Can't believe I'm confronting another Varg just like her." Aylen said as she stood up and locked her black, cold eyes on Kiba's. "Your exactly like her. No ones gonna want to be your friend, or even your mate And me on the other hand, isn't like you. Unlike you I actually tell the truth even if it hurts." Aylen turned around and started walking for the mountions. When she saw Nova she growled. "I'll come back when the she-wolf admits the truth about herself."

Nova listened from a distance, getting the general gist of the conversation. He was rather drowsy, and it was hard for him to keep his mind focused. But even in his current state, it was apparent that the two she-wolves were at odds with each other, and he was about to intervene, when a thought struck him: Why Bother? He was not their alpha, he was not their great mediator, and it was apparent that these two wolves were simply incompatible. And he was stuck with them. Their rants towards each other were rather hard to follow in his sleepy state, although he was aware that Aylen was about to storm off. Listening carefully, he advised her not to go off alone into the night, especially with winter about to approach and she being injured. "But I realized how much my opinion matters to you, you have made that apparent. So be my guest, and do whatever you want." Nova added, meeting her gaze but not repeating her growl.

Kiba sighed and actully thought about Aylen and she was partially right, so Kiba got up and trotted after her saying, "Aylen don't g-... I see you stayed. Ive thought what you said, and well your kinda right. I'm not saying this just to rebuild relationship, i'm just saying, your right. And i'm not sucking up to you. I just.... don't like it when pack members to run away." She looked at Aylen with no intrest into fighting with words or with teeth and claws.

Nova cracked a small smile at Aylen's remark, glad that she stayed both for her sake and his conscience's as well. Seeing that Kiba was approaching to try and make amends, he decided to let them be. He mumbled something along the lines of goodnight, before walking a few paces away, where he studied the area for a decent place to lay down for the night. Spotting the rock that he had lounged on earlier that day, he figured that that would be suitable until they had established a more permanent shelter. Nova laid down on the ground next to the rock, feeling its heat it had absorbed from the day emanate into his body. Giving a last look at the two conversing she-wolves, he took a final yawn before resting his head on the ground to try and get some sleep.

Aylen narrowed her eyes on Kiba. She didn't say anything but nodded her head slightly and watched Nova go to sleep on the rock he was on earlier. She sighed and padded over to some bushes growing at least five feet away from Nova's rock. She sniffed them before circling around them and jumping into them, making a spot in between the bushes as she lied down. She rested her head on her front paws and her black fluffy tail hiding her nose. She wasn't going to sleep, but be on look out. Her black eyes glowed softly but the specks if silver in them shined like the moon.

Kiba looked down at the ground she was standing on, turned her head to see, then walked to the path of the humans. She leapt over the fence, seeing everyone was at their shelter, sleeping. Kiba crept silently through the camps, and saw a human. The human was awake, and alert of Kiba. The human being was young, and watched Kiba carefully and full of fear. Kiba flatened one ear, and looked to the side, then looked at the human and bared her teeth at him. He slowly dropped his stuff and took out a sharp weapon. Kiba didn't know what it was, so of course, she jumped back and snarled. The human tried to yell and shoo her off, but it just made her angry.
Kiba snarled at him, knowing he would injure her more with the weapon more then she would injure him. So she ran and jumped the fence, towards Nova and Aylen, knowing she would certainly come back.

It was dawn of a new day, and Nova was up rather early. The period of rest had reinvigorated his body and mind, and he stood up to stretch out his stiff limbs. He noted the positions of Aylen, laying down a yard or two from where he had been, and Kiba, who seemed to be covered in more foliage and dirt than he remembered from last night, before padding slowly over to the pool of water to splash his face. The shock of the cold water dispersed the final remnants of fatigue that lingers after being asleep, and Nova finished off his morning routine with a drink. Thinking ahead, Nova's calculating mind knew that they would soon need to hunt, for he knew that carcass from the other day was practically stripped of its meat. Perhaps he should go out and find some prey, then he could finally feel like he contributed to the group. However, there was a problem. He didn't know which way to start going.

Kiba walked over to Nova and politely greeted him with a "good morning." Kiba shook off the depris that was on her fur and drank cold river water. Her coat was now an ashy grey color. "Has Aylen woken up yet?" Asked Kiba. "Is it today when we choose alpha?" Said Kiba before walking off to Aylen.

Aylen watched Kiba and Nova moved away, but was suprised when Kiba came walking up to her. She blinked and stood up. She stretched and lifted her nose when a breeze came in. There was some rabbit in the area, but they is three of them. A rabbit or two would never feed. She also smelt some squirrels in the area. squirrel hunting was her favorite thing to do even if it didn't fill her tummy.
Aylen trotted off into the forest where the smell of squirrel was all over the place. She was about to smell the ground when a flash of brown crossed her path. Without hesitation she darted after it. The squirrel was heading for a tree but Aylen was able to jump over it, turn and snap her jaws on the squirrels head. She dropped the squirrel and smiled, lifted her head and let out a small joyous howl when another squirrel darted from a hiding spot. Aylen bolted after it.

After returning the gesture to Kiba, Nova watched Aylen leave for the forest. Nova somewhat brushed off her question about deciding the alpha, as he didn't really want to deal with that right now. He still wasn't totally sure if the two she wolves could restrain themselves from tearing at each other, and in any case didn't know who he thought should rightfully lead. There was that small desire within himself to be a leader, after all that was what was expected of him when he departed from his own pack, but he felt he lacked to confidence to be a competent alpha.
He heard Aylen's howl in the distance, and judged by the sound of it that she had brought something down. "Why don't you go see if Aylen needs some help? I'll be...scouting around the area. I think we better find a better place to sleep than in the open once the cooler days come." Nova suggested to Kiba, gesturing towards the forest. He did kind of want some time to himself, transitioning from being a lone traveler back into pack life was still in effect for him. Plus Aylen and Kiba having time to talk and work together could never hurt, right?

Kiba followed to what Nova said, there is nothing else to do out here, rather then going back to those humans, and Kiba knows that that's not going happen.

Aylen missed the last squirrel when Kiba interrupted. She watched the squirrel bound up a tree, but stopped when Kiba mentioned Hunter's name. Aylen was on her feet in seconds and bared her teeth in a silent snarl. "Don't ask me that qustion ever. Again." Then she licked her lips and walked back to Nova's rock muttering bad words under her breath about her brother.

Guess he was wrong. Nevertheless, Nova was not there to greet them when they had returned to their central meeting location at his rock, but instead was walking up and down the creek. There wasn't that much to see, only trees and dirt. The only thing he could find interesting was the obvious, that the ground became steeper as he went upstream, and lower as he went down. Figuring from experience that lower elevations had milder climate, Nova chose to explore downwards, further into the valley.

Aylen was pacing in front of the rock still seething about her brother when she realized something. Nova was missing. She followed his scent trail until she figured something out. He was going downwards. Rookie mistake. Aylen thought as she followed Nova silently. The wind was also going upwinds, toward Aylen, letting her get big whiffs of Nova's scent. She finally got close enough that she could see him, walking along side the stream. She went to the right behind some bushes and a tree that had a boulder right beside it. Aylen went into a crouch and crawled behind the boulder without making a sound. That when she moved. She jumped onto the boulder and launched herself at Nova, knocking him over and obviously getting the upperhand of the fight. She nipped the fur around his neck and jumped away with a snarl. "Hah! I win!"

The cool forest air played across the face of Nova, and he took in the sweet scents of the wind. There was moisture, of course, from the river which guided him on his journey. There was the rich smell of upturned earth somewhere nearby, likely a small woodland dweller a little while ago had scurried near him, for the smell was very faint. And of course, there was the prevailing smell of the great pines that towered above him, each needle giving off a unique aroma. Nova enjoyed walking into the wind, it allowed him to smell what was in front of him before he even saw it, even though it cost him the ability to know what was behind him. Of course, Nova paid the price when he hit the dirt after Aylen tackled him. Instinctively jumping up with a growl once she removed herself, he realized that it was her. Taking it in good humor, Nova responded with a "You should be careful when tackling things that might bite back", flashing his teeth.

"Teeth? Oh! Is that what you call those little thorns in your mou-" Aylen stopped mid-sentence. Her ears were perked and the hackles on her back were rising. The wind has been blowing Nova's scent into her face, but what she forgot about was other predators smelling her and and Nova. It was a cougar. Aylen could smell it but she didn't know where it was. She flicked her left ear back twice, meaning cougar. It was a sort of silent language Hunter had taught her. He told her almost all wolves knew this, and Aylen was hoping he was right. She did it again at Nova, hoping he would understand.

Nova had been looking away from Aylen and at the horizon as he listened to her comment, preparing a retort of his own while she spoke. However, as he listened, he realized that he was listening to the sound of silence, for Aylen had stopped mid sentence. Turning his head slowly to see what the problem was, he caught her in mid gesture. Confused, he saw her repeat the same action, and realization dawned on him. His father had taught him a similar signal once, but this was the first time he had seen another wolf convey it. Cougar. He nodded slightly in understanding, keeping quiet and his movements controlled. He knew cougars didn't often initiate fights, that would be the wolves job, but they were often the ones who walked away should there ever be one. He then caught the scent of it, but the moisture from the river diffused the scents location. Looking into the foliage, he caught hints of movement, but nothing significant enough to rule out that his mind was playing tricks on him.

Aylen looked around at the trees, looking for signs of a tawny brown pelt. It was then that she remembered the last time she got into a fight with a cougar....
"Black Hide!" The younger version of Aylen was tackled to the ground by a large grey silverish wolf with a black streak on its side. Then she heard it. A roar that sounded like a cat yowling. Cougar roar. The younger version of Aylen jumped to her paws while shaking out her fur as the silver brute snarled at the cougar. Aylen lunged for the Cougar's back but then the cougar swiveled around smacked Aylen on the shoulder dragging its claws across her shoulder, leaving long jagged cuts....
Aylen shook her head. The fur on her shoulder twiched. If you really looked at her shoulder, you could see the scars left from the cougar fight. Thats when she saw it. Large, Tawing Brown, Green eyes... Aiming for Nova. Aylen moved without thinking, pushing Nova out of the way, but the Cougar was able to sink its claws into her haunches. Aylen let out a snarl that turned into a whimper as she turned, biting the Cougar on the shoulder and jumped away.

The sandy pelt, the wicked snarl, and the fierce claws were all lunging at Nova in a flash, and was it not for the sudden push he received from the side, he would have been sure to be on the receiving end of the cougar's fury. Nova did not have time to think about what provoked such an unnecessary attack, but took a moment to regain his focus. Realizing that it had been Aylen who had saved his hide a moment before, Nova jumped in to return the favor.

Although their stature was roughly the same height, the Cougar's frame was much more well muscled than his own, making it quite a sturdy individual. Taking advantage of the Cougar's focus on his companion, Nova lunged at the side of the animal, fangs bared and claws ready. He crashed into the side of the animal, sending them both off balance and into the adjacent river. The water was deep enough that Nova was forced to let go of his grip on the Cougar if he didn't want to sink, and instead he got to the surface, pulling himself up onto the bank, ignorant of the fate of his foe.

Kiba heard the fight with the couger and heard the whimper/snarl and immediately identified it, either Aylen or Nova. Kiba dashed to the destanation and stopped when the couger made eye contact with Kiba. "Now Aylen, this the chance." She thought, wishing as hard as she can to send her the "mind message". It all stopped when the couger snarled at Kiba. She flashed her teeth and rasied her tail and stood in a battling stance. She looked at Nova then Aylen. Kiba was ready.

Aylen went into a crouch watching the fight, ready to jump in, but froze when Nova took the fight to the water. She was afraid of water. Deathly afraid. Just then Kiba came into the fight. Aylen was ignoring the pain come from her wounds on her haunches. They hurt like crazy but there was no way she was going to let her... packmates get hurt. Aylen growled when the wet cougar crawled out of the water, making hissing sounds and glaring at them. Aylen lunged for the cougars throat. She missed. The ground was wet and muddy from the water running off the cougar and she slipped. Even though she was able to get her teeth into the cougar's scruff. She felt the cougar's claw sink into her flesh, and next thing she new the cougar had it teeth in her side and then all of a sudden she was in the water.
Aylen was scrambling for the surface but couldn't swim and the cougar still had its claws in her. She turned and bit the cougars ear, making a distraction as the cougar let go of her. She made a dash for the surface. Aylen started swimming back and was able to feel her paws sink into dirt again. She was here, not in the river running from her old pack.

Nova grunted as he slipped on the muddy bank, his vision skewed by the thousands of water droplets that covered his face. Pulling himself together, he saw that the cougar was once again in the river, by Aylen's doing. Aylen herself was several meters downstream, having been dragged by the current before she was able to pull herself out, Nova guessed. Kiba was nearby and ready to help, and apart from being disorientated, Nova was still fit to fight, or at least his adrenaline told him so.

The cougar, was a sorry sight to see pulling itself out on the other side of the river. It had numerous scratches that had tore into its flesh, a ripped ear, mild confusion, and a whole body covered in mud. Nova considered it intelligent when he saw it limp away into the forest on the other side of the water. "Whew...what a coward...can't finish what he started...good thing too..." Nova panted, allowing himself to collapse on the bank, his burst of energy from the fight subsiding. He had escaped with only minor injuries, as his attacks had mostly been cheap shots on the side where the cougar couldn't retaliate. But a fight of life and death was no time for chivalry.
