Introduction
MATRIMONY
- The kingdom of Aramis, for the past few decades, has had a problem.
A human kingdom in the vast, fantastical landscape that is the world of Arcania, the nation has often undergone hardship, but it has endured. Wars, economic depressions, occupations, and tragic losses in the royal family all are in the history books, as are a few dark times of rulers who are not looked on with fondness. But every civilization has its ups and downs, and Aramis is no different.
But still, Aramis has a problem.
Aramis is a land of natural resources. Therefore, much of its exports are raw goods, and much of its imports come from other nations who receive those goods, some mostly human, others dominated by other creatures, but most somewhere in between. These imports are what the goods have been turned into; textiles and tools, made my craftsmen and artists. This system has always worked, and it should be working today.
However, a small snag had developed.
Actually, four snags. You see, like most other nations, the borders of Aramis are home to the lawless of society, people who don’t follow the rules and decide to avoid whoever makes them. Neutral people who claim allegiance to no one but themselves and maybe whoever’s paying them right now. Scoundrels and thieves, bounty hunters and bandits. For the most part they are ignored by the more ‘civilized’ sections of Aramis; they are a necessity that every kingdom possessed, and as long as they were left alone they didn’t cause too much trouble, aside from the occasional raid on a caravan that was actually important.
That was, of course, until the rise of the Bandit Lords.
In a dog-eat-dog world, eventually the Alphas are going to rise to the top. Around the borders of Aramis, there were four; North, East, South, and West. Each having their own ‘territory’ that they agreed upon with the other three. In this territory they united the ‘lawless’ under their flag, and the dogs that once scavenged for scraps and leftover bits began taking down bigger prey. ‘Bandit packs’ began to seem less like thieves and more like wandering armies, and more and more supplies and goods were being taken off the trade routes. For once, the fringes of society learned what prosperity was. And the land of Aramis was threatened.
High King Mirndof responded with force; he was not one to negotiate with bandits (not that the Lords ever offered a chance themselves, either). What began as skirmishes slowly grew into a small-scale war on the borders, a secret war that was only known to those who went out there.
Unfortunately, the two sides were evenly matched. The Aramis forces were spread thin due to simultaneous attacks from each of the four Bandit Lords, but as the Bandit armies were small to begin with, both sides suffered heavy causalities. After several years, the two sides stopped their attacks and talk of peace began.
And in an era such as this, the easiest way to achieve peace is through one thing: marriage.
Reluctantly, the High King offered up each of his four children as husbands and wives to the Bandit Lords. Though it was called a marriage, it seemed more like a business transaction; in exchange for the benefits of their new royal titles (which they could use to improve the outskirts of the nation as they did before, except with less violence this time), the raids on Aramian goods would stop, and Aramis’s borders would expand, gaining territory that had been owned by the Bandit Lords. Win-Win, save for the reluctant vows that must be shared between eight people now.
The High King is not as cruel as he could be; his children and the Bandit Lords are allowed to agree who marries whom among themselves. The Bandit Lords have marched their armies to the capital for the celebration.
In a month, the ceremony shall be held, and the eight shall be married. With or without their consent is for them to find out.
THE ROYAL CHILDREN OF ARAMIS
- The royal family of Aramis currently consists of five people: the High King of Aramis, Mirndof Yllryn, and his four children. His late wife, a beautiful woman by the name of Merian, passed away thirteen years ago due to a tragic accident during one of her many travels (traveling was the woman's passion). Due to the nature of her accident, the four children had grown up under close watch of guards and are not let outside the boundaries of the capital without an escort (they are, however, free to roam the nearby forested areas as they please). The eldest, the crown prince, is currently in line to the throne (as tradition states), though the ruler of Aramis has not always been the eldest male of the family.
As an interesting note, there have only been five other instances in the rule of Aramis where the leader has been non-human or married to a non-human.
- The Crown Prince of Aramis: Asun Yllryn (TiMMMaY!!!)
The Eldest Princess of Aramis: Azreal Yllryn (bandgeek)
The Second Prince of Aramis: Laiden Henry Yllryn (elidor845)
The Youngest Princess of Aramis: reserved by Horseygirl
THE BANDIT LORDS
- The Bandit Lords are only called "Bandit Lords" in the capital. To their people, they are merely referred to as "The Lords." They are enigmas, people of colorful backgrounds that managed to have the strength, cunning, or charisma that compelled people to follow them. It's not like the alternative is too good, either; starvation is a very real threat in a lawless society, and there are even worse dangers than that. The promise of food, shelter, and protection is one that attracts many who have nothing. As such, the Lords have very devoted followers. Thanks to the effort of the Lords, dusty ghost towns and wretched hives of scum and villainy are becoming safe places to raise kids and people are getting three meals a day.
The Lords have met with each other on several occasions, as they worked to divide the borderland territories that they guard from other groups of bandits and raid for supplies for their own people. Very little is known about their pasts (or even much of their identities), but what is known is that the North and South are controlled by women, while the East and West and ruled by men.
- The Lord of the North: Rania Ogrin (Zodia195)
The Lord of the East: Kainen Thelmar Artin (InsanityRenaissance)
The Lord of the South: Aurora A. Justice (BleedingLover)
The Lord of the West: Hibari Kyo (TwistedSong)

Home to the royal family, the royal palace sits atop the mountain that the city was built on.

The capital of Aramis bears the same name as the kingdom itself, and is a sprawling center of commerce and home to the royal family

The kingdom of Aramis is a healthy-sized kingdom, it's natural boundaries making it hard to conquer from the outside, and it's fertile land and resources making it prime for commerce.

Re: Matrimony
I will kill characters.
:D
Also, I've been entangling myself in other RPs and other sites, so idk whether I will still have the time I was previously planning on committing. Should still be able to get posts in at least once a week, more depending on what other RPs I've got going weekdays.
But yeah, I'll put in the effort if someone remakes this. Seemed pretty cool.

Re: Matrimony
Frankly, I'm kind of annoyed now, so if this starts back up or if he says what's been going on would someone please drop me a PM?
I, along with all of you, put a lot of thought into my character and this looked to be a fun RP, but I'm tired of holding myself back despite all that. I'm gonna be looking for other RPs to join now.

Although, I do see that Insanity was last on very early this morning, so Matrimony may not be a lost cause. Hell, what do I know though? :P
Anyway, I wrote my first IC post in well over a year today!

Jynxii wrote:Well I wanted Maggie to be the typical little sister. I'm not saying Az is, rather that Maggie is a little over sensitive and dramatic. Again, it was Magie's point of view, and although the reality might be different, that's how most little siblings react. I know for me, my little sis always thought I hated her even though in reality: I just didn't want to play with her sometimes lol
Ah, okay. I suppose I wouldn't know, since I have no siblings. XD Though I suppose... with my cousins... Maggie's point of view makes a lot more sense. C:
And happy birthday Tim! <3
Re: Matrimony
So I can drink legally for a change. :D
