I second Brazen about the PDFs as I'll likely have a copy of something if needed as well. And I don't think we've any issue with people's characters being dealt with by Mr.Celestial if people fail to post and have vanished, don't respond to PM etc and basically just show they don't care anymore. I agree with Brazen about the IC death especially if someone does just vanish entirely but informing you beforehand does change matters.
