The "guardians" are all male. They are all pretty much "evil"....bonded guardians just feel a connection to the one they are bonded with and obey them. Whoever holds a crest holds a guardian. I decided not just females have to hold the crest. Although the casket girls were female...

Okay that makes more sense. No, not at all. I put romance in the tag because you don't ever know how a story line will play out. Romance is an option if people wish, but not a theme in the plot.
