And concubines aren't necessarily "in love" with the person they serve. Kind of like how strippers don't really love the customers, except the harem probably isn't entirely made up of people who opted for that occupation. You are correct. But I didn't know how else without being demeaning...

Anything is legal for the king... Just remember, the Padishah of the Ottoman Empire had four wives, additional wives he may have had wanted, and a huge harem with upwards of dozens or even hundreds of concubines(some of which were male), all run and managed by his mother, the Valide Sultan. I think you are following these tropes way too much, to be perfectly honest. A trope is meant as a "fill-in", a static, flat character there to serve as a vehicle for plot but not necessarily a participant. I suppose some literature is indeed meant to use tropes for major roles, and often ...

To be perfectly honest, it seemed like a decent year. Not too old, like 934, and not too young like 67, in terms of powerful beings. But I suppose my justification at the time was that his deep spirituality and Ewok mysticism opened the floodgates to outlive his human peers. But it's not a big deal ...
