Introduction

Sora's time of sleep may have been uneventful for him, however it wasn't so for the people who weren't sleeping the year away.

Kingdom Hearts itself, sensing the imminent danger it is in, has summoned people - as well as those who aren't so much people as things - from every corner of every galaxy to defend it from the rising Organisation XIII.
Those who are called are plagued with strange dreams, as well as a sudden intuitiveness about their own world and it's failings. These feelings slowly drive them to find a way to get off of from whatever world they may inhabit and seek out a certain person.
Or Nobody, to be specific.

Once Kingdom Hearts has called you, it will never stop.
Even if the danger passes those who refuse the call will be plagued by misfortune for the rest of their lives.

Will you take up the mantle of a protector of Kingdom Hearts?

Joxans looked down at her world from her penthouse with a content expression.
Not that she was content, by any means, since she couldn't actually feel content anyway.
But no one had to know that, right?

She scratched at her left shoulder and turned to get dressed to face the day ahead.

After a long day of slowing down particle fusion to make her scientist friends happy, Joxans once more had a content look on her face.
She once more got dressed, but this time it was so that she could face what lay in her dreams.
They hadn't been what most would consider the norm in dreams either, even if they were dreams..
They felt so.. real...

There were many voices, they all said the same thing.
They whispered it.
They screamed it.
Heck, some of them even sang it to the tune of Michael Jackson's "Bad".
But they all said the same thing:
Help us!
Help Us!
HELP US!
Help us,
Help us,
You want to,
Uh-huh!
"WHO AM I SUPPOSED TO HELP!?" Joxans screamed at what was soon becoming a cacophany of voices arguing about which song was more appropriate.
Silence.
Help... Us..?
"Who are you?" she cried into the nothingness.
We are all the hearts. All hearts.
"And what is that supposed to mean?"
It means you will help us. They said.
Just wait. They will come.
"Who will-!?"
YOU WILL KNOW!

An alarm clock went off near Ian's bed.

"I hate mornings." Ian mumbled. "What were we going to do today, again? Oh, right! Mr. Gearloose and I were going to fix the Gizmo Shop's clock. It's been stuck at 6 something for a while."

Ian changed into a long-sleeved blue polo shirt, black track pants, and white tennis shoes. He then left his room and entered the main room of the Gizmo Shop. After a few hours of replacing various parts, the clock was fixed.

"Well, Ian, that was a bit of work. How about you take a short break?"

"Thanks, Mr. Gearloose. I'll be up by the bell, as usual."

Ian brought his flute up to the top of the Gizmo Shop. He usually played it up there when he had a chance just to unwind. As he was putting it up to his face, he heard a voice.

"Help us."

"Hello?"

"Help us."

"Help me help you. Where are you?"

"Help us."

"Probably just the brownie I had right before bed last night." Ian began playing his flute.
