Aftermath: Reanimated, a roleplay on RPG

Introduction

Until the GM can sit down and write a proper introduction, you get these need-to-know things:

The outbreak will not take place until a decent amount of characters have joined. Until then, this is your typical slice-of-life world in Manhattan, New York. Please use this time to flesh out your character pre-pandemic, and to establish relationships with other character if need be.

There will be random instances where 'events' will take place, in order to keep other players on their toes; from hordes to raiders to even military airstrikes. Please keep this in mind.

Should there be enough interest, eventually players may be able to escape Manhattan. Until then, all play will take place on the island.

In-Character

Notes on the Setting

Obviously this isn't reality, but it is a modern, apocalyptic version; a real place that once had real laws. While society's laws and law enforcement have since fractured, thus leading to a chaotic world full of raiders and zombies, breaking certain moral laws may have dire consequences, depending on the company you keep. So please play your character accordingly, and keep in mind that certain acts (theft, murder, etc.) will possibly have negative consequences for your character that are expected to be taken into consideration by you, the player. Long story short, be realistic in your play and, if need be, civilly remind others to do the same.

Regarding Characters

-- Characters must fit into the setting. Aftermath: Reanimated revolves primarily around the struggle between humans and zombies. Demons, vampires, werewolves, aliens, experiments gone awry – all are not welcome here as they do not exist in the realm. If it exists in the REAL WORLD, it exists HERE (zombies being the obvious exception). If you can want to play a college student(easy), then you're fine. Doctor? Perfect. Alternatively, if you can provide a good enough explanation (i.e.: using some compelling material from the background) for why your shiny unique self is here, that's cool too.

-- Canon characters (that is, copyrighted characters) are not allowed (eg Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, Alice, etc). Characters related to these characters (children, cousins, etc) are also not allowed. Please be original with your characters!

-- Be reasonable with your character’s skills and abilities. In most cases, a character's skill set should be linked to their careers, or even hobbies. For example, a character well-trained with sniper rifles might have the linked talent of personal firearm use and have a talent to focus on far-away objects, but unnatural reflexes and telekinesis and immunity to gunfire and extensive knowledge of kung-fu and so on and so forth just gets to be ridiculous and are not accepted. Keep in mind that common as fights may be, they do not need to always be on a gigantic, building-destroying level, and that the hub is more than just a battleground. Realism is still key here in the sense that survivors (and raiders) wouldn’t take too kindly to trigger-happy fanatics trashing their safe-houses, and that such done to death “epic” battles sadly do just get boring after a while.

-- Have a basic profile for your character before posting in any public rooms. This doesn't mean the character profile had to be pristine or fancy – just enough to let people know what your character looks like (preferably their faceclaim) and what they are capable of. Profiles must detail any weapons the character usually has with them before play; again, do not go overboard with your character’s weapons inventory. They should only be able to carry a realistic amount of gear; this includes provisions, ammunition, first aid, etc.

-- Face-Claiming is a thing here, and therefor we ask that players look over the list of active characters to make sure you're not accidentally creating a doppelganger. In the event that a person uses multiple models for their faceclaim, as this is a thing that can happen, we ask that players put a definitive notice in their profiles so players know which face to look at.

General Conduct

-- No god-moding, auto-hits, auto-kills or narrating the actions of anyone else’s character without their permission. If your character is attacked, you must acknowledge it, at the very least with a hit or miss response. You may not change the capabilities of your character at a moment’s notice to avoid taking damage. On the other hand, if it is your character’s intent to hurt or kill another player’s character, it is strongly recommended that you contact the player through PMs to inform them and ask their permission to do so, as doing such is simply polite. Death is permanent.

-- Keep it IC! Brief notes and OOC comments like “be right back” or “got to go” are fine, as are post clarifications or corrections, but please utilize an OOC avenue for any other OOC purposes. If you are having a problem with another player, please use PMs to work it out. If a reasonable solution cannot be reached, contact a moderator to see to the issue.

-- Before you post, read the room description or PM someone asking about the current scenario. Doing so will give you a good feel of the environment you’re about to put your character in, and will often affect how you play them. Likewise, read all other posts that may already be in the room before posting yourself, since this helps integrate you into the preexisting play. This demonstrates not only that you care about the RP that’s already going on, but that you actually have something to contribute to the session.

-- Abiding by posting order ensures that everyone gets a turn and is encouraged in most circumstances, although should play be divided (for example, if there are two or more RP's happening at the same time that don’t have anything to do with each other), you may disregard the rule. Keep in mind that integrating others is usually a good thing, though, and even with this exception, please be prepared to get back into a rotation.

-- Go for detail in your posts. Nothing turns you off to role-playing with a person like spending ten minutes on a brilliant post and getting a dry one-liner in response. This doesn’t mean you have to write a novel, though; just try to give others as much to work with as possible without taking forever and a day to post.

And above all...

Respect one another! Give new players a chance and don’t be afraid to RP with someone you’ve never played with before. If you see someone make a glaring error, politely and constructively address the matter. We were all new once, and no one is perfect, so please be polite and helpful to one another. Bashing, bullying, flaming, name-calling, etc. will not be allowed. If you can’t say something nice, don’t say it at all, and if you truly cannot stand someone, it is recommended that you make use of the ignore function before any more problems (the nature of which tend to be self-incriminating) can emerge.
