The second Lacie turned those pleading eyes to Faith, Faith engulfed the other brunette in a warm hug, rubbing her back soothingly. On her face and in the way she held Lacie, she remained soothing and calm. On the inside, however, she was seething with a suppressed rage that many would be surprised to see her with. Faith did not hold in her anger often. After a few moments, she pulled back enough to stare into Lacie's eyes.
"You go in there and smile for your little girl. And you spend today with her and your friends as if nothing else is wrong," she told her friend. Emotion nearly choked Faith up for a moment, but she swallowed it down. "You do not let him have any power over you or that precious angel. You've been doing great so far without him and you will do even better with us, do you understand me?" She shook Lacie just a little, as if to emphasize her words. "And if that slimy bastard even considers coming after you or Amber, we'll be ready for him and he'll have one hell of a fight if he thinks he's taking her. But you are not in this alone, Lace. Not ever."
