Ethan had already been dressed for several minutes. He was staring at himself in the mirror, listening to his heartbeat race. He could feel it hit the wall of his chest. As he looked himself in the eye, he felt as though something was staring back. Ethan was all too familiar with what was looking back at him. His own hatred of himself. The darkness that was always threatening to rip him apart and constantly remind him that he wasn’t worth the ground he walked on. You have crossed a line. You are in a married man’s home. You are wearing his clothes. YOU SHOULD NOT BE HERE It echoed in his mind over and over again until tears threatened to fall. Ethan looked away from the mirror and picked up the soaked clothes off the floor. He headed out to the living room, where he figured Kai would be. Immediately, his clothes were taken from him.

Despite the day he has had, he was not expecting this level of kindness from the music therapist. Ethan was in his secret hideout. He doesn’t deserve to be here. He wasn’t the best client and there were others that were probably more deserving. Though none of that mattered at this time. The thunderstorm was forcing him to stay and his clothes were now somewhere else in the apartment. Ethan would have to wait until morning to attempt to head back to his own home. He wanted to go now. His body was screaming at him to dart out the front door and figure out some way home, but his feet were frozen to the floor. ”You can take my bed for the night.”

The words repeated in his head for a moment as he processed what Kairo was offering to him. Ethan’s eyes grew wide and he shook his head. ”N-no I couldn’t This is your house. You have to sleep on the bed. I will sleep on the couch and I won’t take no for an answer Kai.” He stated more forcefully than he had originally planned. His ears caught up with the words that had come out his mouth and his face turned bright red and he avoided any eye contact. ”P-please...I insist I sleep on the couch…” He was softer with his tone and walked around Kai to the couch to further emphasize his point.
