Fading Light - The Last Darkness » Places

         The engine was revving and Blake had a tight grip on the wheel. He looked up to the hotel doors and saw them open and Eve begin to move out towards the car. At that moment Blake saw why Eve had her bow drawn, hundreds of people were leaving the buildings and the first thing they saw was the car Blake had managed to win. "Shit." Blake hissed as one hand released its grip and planted firmly on the horn. "COME ON!" Blake yelled earnestly through the glass of the car windows, "GET THE HELL IN THE CAR!"

Suddenly a woman was banging on the passenger side of the two door car. "LET ME IN! LET ME IN!" she screamed as she violently attempted to get in the car. Luckily the passenger side door was locked. Blake shook his head in defiance of her want and told her to leave, "You can't... I'm sorry, I don't.. won't have enough room... RUN!" The woman didn't listen and kept banging herself against the door. Blake beeped his horn again, catching Eve's eye, "HURRY UP! WHAT'S GOIN' ON?"

Blake looked in the rearview mirror and his heart beat faster than he ever could have imagined as he saw the street lamps falling one by one as the slinkers paved the way for the night crawlers to start their descent on the town. Blake gritted his teeth and once again beeped the horn, what the fuck was going one in the hotel?

Samara

Samara watched Nicole as she talked about their revised plan. She nodded silently in agreement that they had to leave, Blake or not. They'd come this far already, which wasn't that far at all, and lost the life of a companion to boot. They couldn't afford to risk their own lives anymore for others... Samara had lived through too many darknesses to fuck up now. "Alright.. if he's not here soon we leave." Samara said flatly. She pushed a stray clump of red hair out of her eyes and breathed deeply.

The raucous outside was growing and Samara was growing impatient and uneasy but suddenly over all the noise and screaming a horn filled the air. "What the hell is that?" Samara asked as she watched Eve move towards the window. "Blake! the blonde yelled in relief, turning to Nicole and Samara, "Nicole! Samara! Let's go, he's got a car!" Samara's eyes widened in astonishment as she moved towards the window, trying to get a look at this car. "Oh no.. Hurry! We've got to go now!" Samara looked out and saw the mayhem that was growing.

People were pushing and shoving and running out of buildings without cause or composure. Samara couldn't believe the scale of which shit had hit the fan. "Jesus.. what is going on?" Samara asked out loud. Her train of thought was cut off as Eve continued to speak "You two go first, I'll make sure you make it safely." Samara nodded and turned to Nicole, "I'll go first, get to the car, you follow and stop anyone trying to get to the car, Eve, follow closely!" Samara turned and readied herself as Eve opened the door and stepped out. Samara went to move out when suddenly a window from across the way shattered and two slinkers rolled across the ground, colliding with Samara and sending themselves and her across the way and into the bar.

Samara hit the bar with a thud and let out a yelp as her head hit the backing. "Damn it" she grunted as she scrambled to her feet. Samara kicked off the ground and went to bolt for Nicole and Eve but was grabbed from the floor by one of the slinkers as it growled deeply at her, baring it's sharp teeth. "Fuck off" she spat as she kicked down hard on the creature's head.

As her foot made contact Samara was tackled by the second Slinker, pinned against the bar top, her hands clasped with the claws of the slinkers, interlocked in a life or death struggle, "Jesus help me!" she yelled out across the way.
