Introduction
You see, it is the Hunters’ duty to protect the village and control the population of these savage beasts. It is considered an honor far greater than any that could be imagined to become a Hunter. But the life of a Hunter is dangerous, for the creatures they attempt to slay are most fearsome and often hungry. To them, Hunters are little more than a snack that puts up a fight.
But should you and your friends be able to slay these beasts, the rewards would be incredible. Weapons of incredible ability, armor to match that of the beasts’ skin, jewels that would make a king jealous and money to spend on whatever you like. It would be an incredible experience.

Reviews
ViceVersus wrote:Howdy-hey, guys and gals. The first thing I want to make a note of is that I've never played the Capcom game before in my life, so if you feel like something is a bit off in my review, then it's probably because I'm not as familiar with any backstory as the rest of you are. That said, let's get on with the review! When I read over the Introduction page, I was a bit confused. Wasn't sure what to make of the RP, you see. If you asked me to give a basic summary of the plot, I would have said something along the lines of -- "here be wyverns; kill they ass!" and that's it. There's a note about the Hunter's Guild, of course, and the fantastic wealth waiting for those who kill the creatures, but so what? And no, that "so what" isn't meant to sound rude. Look at it this way -- this is a fantastically exciting setting! There's money to be made, there's glory to be taken! But I don't know how I'm supposed to feel about it because there's no mention of a real conflict, mention of characters, anything like that that might connect me to the reality created here. Should I be angry? Have the wyverns been attacking families, and I need to join this roleplay so that I can kill wyverns in revenge? Or should I be greedy, considering how much I just love money? Or, even, should I be desperate because the money in wyvern-killing is the only cash that'll save me from being evicted from the Lord who owns the land that I live on? See what I mean? You've at least given this rigid structure for setting, but I don't know a thing about the plot, actually, or the characters. However! Don't get me wrong! The first few posts here flick by really fast. Nicely paced action. As I said before, this is an amazingly fascinating world we're running around in -- but I don't know a thing about the characters. Who they are, what they want, that sort of thing. And no, I didn't look at the character bios, because in my opinion that's cheating. Who a character is should always come across in a post without a handy little sheet there, off to the side. :P I'm really looking forward to seeing a main conflict come up in this Hunter's Guild. I'm looking forward to seeing more of a story spring to life between the characters, maybe once they're actually done with the hunt, and I look forward (just in general) to reading more. You all have a firm command of language. I saw only one notable typo that leaped out at my eyes ("Bertius LOUDED? his crude weapon .. ") but that's the sort of thing that was probably just a slip of the mind. Best of luck to you guys, and have fun with it! That's the most important thing.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 4 authors
Setting

A Rathalos it was, enormous and red and covered in scars from various encounters with what Theos assumed was probably a combination of Hunters and other wyverns. Rathalos were territorial, he knew, so fighting often broke out amongst them and other creatures seeking dominance. But judging from the size of this wyvern, he wasn’t often the loser.
At first, like many of the creatures that entered the forest, the Rathalos stopped at the nearby pond for a drink. Dipping its head into the water, it opened its mouth and drank greedily. Theos crept closer, hoping to find the weakest points in the monster’s armored hide. There appeared to be a scar across its neck from a sword or a bite; Theos mentally noted that, hoping it would pay off in the future.
Backing away, Theos hoped to get away before the creature noticed him, but as he crawled, his weight snapped twigs underneath him. Sighing, he looked up to see the Rathalos tilting its head, listening, and waiting. Theos backed away more carefully this time, but it wasn’t enough. The Rathalos let out an earth-shaking roar, and then looked directly at Theos.
Theos’ survival instincts kicked in; the man stood, turned tail and ran. He could hear the creature’s wings beating as it rose into the air. Chancing a look back, Theos saw the wyvern hovering, and then watched as it swooped forward, talons extended before it. With a monster coming at you like that, there’s really only one thing you can do: duck.
Theos threw himself to the ground, the Rathalos’ talons missing him by inches. Looking up from his prone position, Theos watched as the monster circled and came back at him. Pulling his bow from his back, Theos notched an arrow. As the Rathalos came hurtling towards him, Theos released. The arrow pierced the monster where the shoulder would be on a human, the point joining wing to neck. Despite the good shot, the Rathalos barely seemed to notice.
Hurtling towards its prey, the Rathalos opened its jaws and released a stream of flames. Seeing this fiery breath streaming towards him, Theos did the one thing he could: he jumped into the pond.

With a clearing just a few hundered yards ahead of him, the young man crouched himself down, propping his weight on his vertical bowgun. His rough, paw-like hand reached into one of his many pouches, a handful of ammunition, turned over with his thick fingers: Piercing, Pellet, Cluster; along side his normals could some serious damage. Bertius louded his crude weapon with a couple of cluster shots, if it was going to be an opening he wanted the recoil to be over and done with as soon as possible. Pushing himself back onto his feet, the unmistakable cry of a Rathalos echoed past him; his face lit up with his toothy grin. He bounded into the clearing, stopping short by a few feet to the edge of a tier, the scaled wing swooshing past as the beast made a dive for someone below.
The fireworks lit up, the mouth igniting into a pillar of flame. Bringing his bowgun into his firing position in sync with a widening grin, Bertius' eyes followed the other person scampering toward the pond, "Hahahaha! That's it for you!" He bellowed from the bottom of his lungs, firing a cluster round just above the Rathalos. The explosion off release soon subsided, the smaller shells silently scattered, the majority landing on the wyvern, a couple impacting the ground beside it. The recoil thrust itself into his upper arm with some force, Bertius let the weapon settle before firing again.
The Rathalos reared it's ugly head to take a glance at the new enemy. Bertius stared it in the eyes, firing his final shell in its facial direction, another volley of explosions.

He knew that his bowstring was soaked, which meant that it wouldn’t work, so Theos did what any responsible Hunter would do: he pulled a Flashbang from his belt and tossed it in the Rathalos’ line of sight. Before it even went off, Theos had turned tail and began running in the village’s direction.
On his way, however, he realized that a lone Bowgun Hunter wouldn't stand much of a chance against a fully-grown Rathalos. Grunting, he stopped and headed back in the direction of the battle.

"I'll be right back," she said to whoever might've been listening. There wasn't a reply. Her fingers tightly clutched her bow. The village was unnaturally silent. Her only company on the street were a cat chasing a rat. Her feet scraped against the rocky ground, and she winced. She was being incredibly loud.
Deciding against slow and stealthy, she broke into a run, past the thin line of trees that surrounded thee village. The pond, about a quarter mile away, someone had just crawled out of it and hurled something at a- Rathalos? Gwen blinked. So that was why everything was so silent. Turning her head quickly to the side, she saw another man attacking the beast. Driving it into town? No, it was just fleeing whatever the man had thrown at it.
Instinctively drawing her bow, notching an arrow, and taking careful aim, Gwen remembered what she was dealing with. The typical stuff ran through her head. Weak spots. Eyes, underbelly, the inside of their legs, even. As the monster barreled to her, she seemed like the weak girl trying to solely defend this village. Heh.
She drew the arrow back and let it fly, aiming to the beasts's eye. It missed, instead thwacking above it. The Rathalos kept moving as though it hadn't been hit. Gwen silently cursed and notched another arrow, but the monster was too close and moving too quickly. "May as well try," she muttered, and just as it passed her, she let the arrow go once more. It found it's mark in the monster's left eye. The thing roared and blindly let out a burst of flame in her general direction. She sidestepped, but a little on the side of her arm and leg had been singed. She kept moving, knowing the pain wouldn't register until later-ish, so she'd be good. The arrow was still lodged in the beast's eye. So now it was half-blinded, furious, in pain, and probably seeking revenge for Gwen's shot. It began to head towards her, it's mangled eye now useless. It had been robbed of one use, and if she could shoot the other one..
No chance. She had to back away, slowly, fear began to build. She was too close to this thing. She looked around or the two men before, surely they'd still be here. Yes. Just don't die. That's my main goal right now.

He had a pitfall trap tucked away in his Gunner's Pouch but there was no way to deploy it correctly from his vantage point, and he wasn't going to leave it and give up his current advantage. The best continued to rage for a short while, in the distance he was the more bird like shadow getting nearer, it had probably heard it's fellow wyvern's calls of distress and assistance. The next couple of shots he picked out of his pouch were paint, that'd be useful for now, especially if they were to be making a retreat in order to better plan it all out.
Loaded careful, he fired the first squarely on the Rathalos' wing span, just on the edge of both under and oversides. Bertius' second shot was a little more careless than that, firing at the ever looming second wyvern, not expecting for it to make impact, that was before he saw it's face light up slightly, not to mention a distance groan of shock.
Bertius quickly looked to see the Rathalos, was the calming efect of the tranquilisers working? He wasn't sure, it still seemed as belicose as before.

Looking around, he spotted the Gunner that had saved his life not long ago.
“Come on!” He yelled, waving his hand in the direction of the village. “If we go now, we can make it back before this fight gets out of control. I’m not about to let someone die on account of me.”
With that said, Theos turned around and began running back to Kokoto. It was a long way, but with the Rathalos asleep, he was sure he would make it…
That is, until the green wyvern landed in front of him.
Now, few people realize that the Rathian, the female counter-part of the Rathalos, are in fact more dangerous than the males. The Rathalos is packed with brute strength and cunning, charged with the protection of the nest and the baby wyverns. The Rathian is designated to hunt for the food, thus having much more experience in combat. All in all, Theos was in danger. There was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

She released it, and winced directly afterwards. The arrow struck the line of muscle between the wing and chest, where the forearm should be. The dull tip didn't even penetrate it's flesh, it bounced off near the man's feet. But it did serve as a distraction. The dragon whirled around and raised it's wings, flexing it's talons as it looked around for it's attacker. This thing was fast.
Unfortunately,Gwen had not brought any of her usual tricks or fancy stuff with her. She had just come outside to check. She took a step to the side, already another arrow notched. The dragon wasn't approaching her, more confused. It couldn't quite pick a target yet. Gwen glanced back at the tranquilized beast. It was on the ground, barely struggling against the affects of the shot. It wouldn't be awake for more than two minutes. And by then, we might be dead. she thought grimly. Gwen wasn't sure whether to take another shot. Drawing it's attention would mean death, surely. But she couldn't let these guys die right there. She also doubted she could make a shot at this one's eye, it was keeping all of it's defenses up high.
"Where to shoot?!" she said loudly enough for one of them to hear. She didn't have a clue .. These guys obviously knew what they were doing. Hopefully.

With his recoil getting easier, so did his reloading, Bertius was in a steady rythem of two shots in, two shots fired. He was strafing his way so the eyesight was not in use, the pot shots flying all over the mother wyvern's body, one or two missing completely. The trees were getting more dense, his opportunity to fire shots proportionatly fell, nd in time he was folding his bowgun back up in a full sprint back to the village.
Bugs, creepy crawlies, Felyns and passive herbivores populated his journey back, but Bertius ignore them all, slowling down to a stroll like walk as he reached the village's perimeter, out of breath slightly, he parked his backside down on a log and caught his breath, waiting for the arrival of the other two.

"From the sound of it it looks like you ran into the Rathalos and Rathian I've been tracking. I've been monitoring their activity, trying to get a sense of their daily pattern." He adjusted his gold and black chain metal armor. "I WAS trying to wait and set up a trap, but it looks like that plan is screwed. By the sound of it and the vibrations in the ground, the pair will no doubt be agitated enough to try and attack this village." Henry grabbed the hilt of the longsword on his back, It was a Bone katana, dragon, fashioned from the fangs of wyverns, velocidrome hide, and a couple of lightcrystals."Only choice left is preemptive strike. I've got a couple of stashes hidden throught the mountains, I can keep them busy for a while, if it comes down to it I could kill both alone butI wouldn't feel like trying that option. Leaves me feeling really sore. What I'm trying to say anyway is I'm going to go buy some time, rest up and resupply, I could use some help dealing with this problem."
Setting

Bertius wasn't bothered about the implications that the other hunter was talking about, after all, he was the ones that beat down a berserk wyvern into submission with the other two, this fellow was just shooting blank words. "It certainly is all well and good saying you were tracking but I imagine that several others were 'tracking' them as well, so in reality you may as well just admit what you were really doing. I, for example, was after some flash bugs."
His expression remained fairly neutral seeing as that woman wasn't within ear shot, that was all he was worried about at the minute. If the phrase was bigger fish to fry, then he had fishing on the mind; fishing and frying of course.

Henry nodded to the big man, and took off on a brisk walk down the path towards the hill.

Re: [OOC] Monster Hunter: Legends
I would like to first apologize for my lack of posting and time. With the growing success of another of my RP's it's becoming harder and harder for me to find time and creative power to post in my other projects.
That is not to say that I am going to let this adventure die. In fact, I plan to do quite the opposite.
With that said, should I become complacent, I give you all permission to control Theos until such a time that I can return and post.
Thank you,
Organizedchaos
