- Personality
That's not to say that Raf is purely this reticent grump. Those who know him well might read his face as easily as a book, for he has subtle cues that hint at what he's feeling inside. On top of this, he's much more open with those few individuals he's close with. Though he might not express himself as openly as others, Raf will eventually ask for advice when he's in a tough situation, or discuss his troubles with a close friend. Initially though, he tries to bare the weight of his problems alone. When the situation is flipped, and it's a friend in need of support, Raf's quiet patience shines through. He's always ready to offer a shoulder to lean on, able to lend an ear and offer sound advice when asked, or merely let his friends vent.
Unending determination and a strong sense of justice are undoubtedly the essential components of what pushes Raf to be a hero. He's persistent in his activities, resolute in bringing criminals to justice, and possesses a stubborn resilience (or stupidity) that sees him pick himself up whenever he's been thrown to the ground by an opponent. Defeat never sits well with Raf, be it on the sports field, against a criminal, or in his school work. His competitive streak helps drive him, a desire for perfection in his work seeing him practice time and time again until he's confident with his skills.
For all his faults, Raf is fairly dependable. He sticks to his promises and rarely gives anyone an excuse to think he won't help when assistance has been promised. At times he's considered too serious, but generally that's only by those who aren't too close to him. With friends and family he's far warmer. Though he'll never be the type to hold loud, boisterous conversations, he'll let the occasional witty joke flow from his tongue, gently tease his friends, and offer comments on various topics.
Though his skills working with the New Guardians team need drastic attention, he's found that playing on his soccer team has helped form strong bonds of kinship with his fellow players. Building up a solid platform of trust and shared interests is a sure way to Raf's good side, and once there he is a loyal and attentive friend.

. .. Strengths

Intelligent: . .. Though Raf wouldn't consider himself a genius at all, he's always done fairly well in school. In particular he's found a niche for himself studying the law, and finds words to come easily when pen meets paper, which is ironic given the lack of spoken words from the Italian.
Athletic: . .. A life-long fan of football (not the American kind), Raphael has been playing almost as long as he could walk. He can thank his father for that.
Stoic: . .. Raf's quiet nature might not always be the most inviting, but there's no doubting that he can take a lot of pain and persevere without breaking. Oddly enough, though he doesn't always share his emotions, he's always been a solid shoulder to lean on when needed, and offers a calm, attentive ear should a friend need someone to talk to.
. .. Weaknesses

-
-
Team work: . .. Raf's people skills aren't always on point, plus he's used to working alone. Because of this, he has problems working with a team and achieving a goal together.
Technology: . .. His knowledge of computer systems and modern technology is only about as good as your average citizen. I.e, he can use a cellphone like any other teenager, utilise google effectively, and stream movies online, but ask him to do anything beyond this and he'll give you a blank look. Raf is definitely not the next hacker extraordinaire. His usual fix for a tech problem is to try turning the device off and then on again. If that doesn't work he's screwed.

Rarely speaks Italian, . ..since properly moving to America, Raf has forced himself to speak only English in an effort to perfect his second language. As a result he only breaks into Italian when returning home, or if addressed in the language first.
Can sense on-coming storms , . ..usually Raf feels the shift of the air, and with a little concentration can read the wind currents.
. .. Fear
-
-
Asphyxiation,. .. the wind might be under Raf's control, but he's learned from experience that it's a dangerous force. A previous exploration of his powers saw Aeolus create a tornado around himself. An accidental vacuum formed in the eye of the winds, and Raf was unable to breathe. The only reason he didn't die was because the winds collapsed when he passed out.

- History
His life was perfectly normal for the first 17 years of his life and would have continued on it's average trajectory had a freak storm not changed everything. Raf's uncle worked as an archaeologist, uncovering valuable pieces from by-gone eras. While excavating ancient Roman ruins, Raf and his family came to visit. The ruins were little more than skeletons of what had once been at the site, yet Raf's uncle Bernardo walked them through what was left and described the ruins in such a way as to almost bring them alive. As his uncle moved to show Raf's parents another section, Raf remained where he stood, transfixed by the idea of what might once have been there.
It was then that the winds began to pull at his clothes, their velocity picking up as a sudden storm materialised. Raf ran for cover, taking refuge beneath an overhanging piece of rubble. The winds picked up and the rain pelted down, a small landslide was set off in the hill behind the ruins. The overhanging piece began to creak in the weather, and fearing he might be crushed, Raf ducked into a small gap in the wall. Whether the storm shifted some of the dirt, or the gloves allowed a path to open, Raf has never been sure. All he knows is that he found himself within a dusty chamber, where faded mosaics lined the walls, and atop a crumbling, concrete stand sat an object covered in a layer of dirt and dust. Despite the storm raging outside, Raf found his curiosity pushing him forward, his hand stretching out to brush the layer of dust from the object.
Unbeknown to him, as his fingers first brushed against the golden object, the storm outside came to an eerie halt. Both his hands found themselves admiring the objects, which he saw to be a pair of gloves. There was a second of nothing, of anticipation, before a deafening sound, a flash of light, and the explosion of air radiating out from the epicentre; from Raf and the gloves. He watched as symbols began to glow, his eyes widening in shock and wonder before a shout left his lips as the gloves flew up his skin. He woke some ten minutes later, laying in a pile of dirt with the sun peaking out of clouds above and his worried parents rushing towards him. Though his hands weren't covered in gloves, golden bands were now on his wrists.
He waited until he was in private before attempting to pull them off, only to find that they wouldn't budge. From there it was a slow discovery to learning the origins and capabilities of the gloves. The symbols engraved on their surface weren't in any language he recognised, so he drew them out and tried to translate as best he could from a dubious online source. What he found was their name; The Aeolus Gloves, and as the name came, the story of their creation at the hands of a master craftsman, then infused with magic, appeared too. They'd been bound to many individuals since their creation, gifting each one with powers over the winds.
Trial and error and a little bit of help from his new magical accessories were how Raf learned to control his powers at first. His parents' land saw more than a few windy nights thanks to Raf. His sister, Abrielle, was the only one he told. She encouraged him to use his powers for good, like The Wardens. Though reluctant at first, Raf's sense of justice prevailed, and though the results were at times messy, he earned something of a name for himself within the region. When he was approached by The Watcher six months ago, his initial reaction was to refuse the offer of joining the junior team. He wasn't good with team work, preferred working on his own. Yet, the opportunity to learn and better himself prevailed, and he found himself accepting the offer.
For the first five months he continued living in Italy and attending a local university, studying the law, while spending his free time teleporting to the New Guardians' New York base for training and missions. Just under a month ago, a scholarship he didn't apply for arrived, offering him a fully paid ride through Ascot Academy, which offered a program that could possibly get him into some of the top law schools in the States. He accepted, moving permanently into the base so that he might attend the Academy without the use of teleport pads.
