Introduction

ImageImageImageImageSetting
It has been seven years since the rangers Kate and Keith defeated Team Dim Sun and sent the remnants of them scattering across Almia. Since then the region has enjoyed the peace and prosperity that the duo and the rest of the Ranger Union helped to provide. Almia is flourishing, and the Ranger School is seeing a rise in students each wishing to do their part to maintain the region's current position.

But of course, beneath the bright facade, there are those who wish to take advantage of the region's current state and twist it to their own benefit. Underneath a new leader, the remnants of Team Dim Sun are starting to gather once more.

The Ranger Union
While the structure of the Union and it's associated Ranger Bases has remained largely the same over the past seven years, Kate and Keith now head the organisation with Hastings as their advisor. Isaac and his younger sister Melody are the pair in charge of the mechanics and have come up with numerous ways of making the capture stylers more efficient. Meanwhile Rhythmi is the one who is at the forefront of the operators.

Other than those notable exceptions, the people involved remain the same, along with the way things are run.

The Ranger School
The past seven years have seen the Ranger School expand, both in the number of students and staff and the quality of the courses that are provided. The staff have completely changed since the events of Shadows of Almia, although the grounds have remained mostly untouched, with only an expansion to the main building to allow for the classes and more dorm space.

The building that once was for capture and field clear classes now encompasses the entirety of the ranger focused classes. Meanwhile the two classrooms inside the main building have been converted for general studies classes, with an extra classroom added for the operator classes. The basement has since been converted for the mechanics classes.

Unlike the years previously, students are allowed to keep partner pokémon with them now, although this tends to be rare as the sort of bond required isn't one that most students have been able to develop yet.

School Curriculum
For the first month, students attend all the available classes before deciding on one particular path to follow. The occasional student will choose to choose a second course, although with limited time to study for it this is an unusual occurrence.

General Studies This class covers the basics, everything from pokémon types and first aid to basic fitness training and geography. Everything that is considered useful to know is covered in this class.

Ranger Studies Captures, field clears, missions. The Ranger Studies class focuses on what is means to be a ranger, and the responsibilities that come with the position.

Operator Studies Language and communication techniques are the focus of this class. While not as physically involved as the rest of the classes, this class is more focused on theory.

Mechanic Studies This course covers everything from basic computer repairs to full styler upgrades. It is a very hands on class, although there is a good amount of theory work to balance things out.

Field Week For one week during the school year, students are assigned to various locations within Almia to see how their chosen path is out in the field. While operators tend to be sent to the Ranger Union, the hopeful rangers and mechanics get spread throughout the various ranger bases in the region.

Guest Teachers Every couple of months a guest teacher gets invited to spend the day at the school. This helps the students gain another perspective on the work they will one day undertake.

Will huffed and gave a small pout in response to the Vulpix's snickers; he knew perfectly well that the Pokémon had overheard the conversation. The brunette didn't find much humor out of the teachers teasing, at least not as much as Dia did. Quickly, he stuck his tongue at him, before returning his attention to Amara as she skipped backwards, towards the door.

"Oh, yeah we can leave now if you want. I think I've seen this room good enough for today." He took another quick glance around the place, taking in the desks and bookshelves, the wide open space in the center, for the last time until they began classes soon. He could feel some excitement return to himself again, which helped push some of his embarrassment out. "Definitely can't wait to get started in here." He grinned slightly, nodding his head. He just hoped the teacher didn't hold on to teasing him for too long after this.

William quickly began to follow after Amara after she'd finished, looking back at the teacher and giving a small wave. "It was nice to meet you as well!" He replied, and then turned back to where Amara was, only to find him distracted by his surroundings again. He took a small curve over to one of the desks, looking over it. It seemed nice enough, easy work space. He wouldn't mind sitting in that for long classes, really. Besides, fun classes distracted from discomfort...

"Oh!" Will quickly looked up from the desk, before giving a quiet laugh. "Sorry, distracted. We can go ahead and move on now, to wherever you want to head next." He gave a small nod before starting a short jog over to Amara, and stopping at the doorway to walk with her, back to the school's main building.

In the end, Amara was certain that befriending William would cause more trouble for him than it was worth. Honestly he was exhausted right now and was sorta glad they couldn't share a dorm, that sort of energy and enthusiasm would just drain him completely.

Belongings in hand, he entered the room to his dorm with Diamond at his heel and was pleasantly surprised to find it currently unoccupied, although the bags and cases on three of the beds was a clear indication that Amara was the last to find the dorm. Not that he would complain with being on the bed that was close to the doors that lead into the hallway and to the en-suite bathroom.

Dropping his belongings on the floor next to what was now his desk, Amara flopped onto his bed for the year and sighed, wondering if all of his days at the school would be as non-stop as this one had been.

After leaving the ranger classroom, the trio had made their way back into the main school building. They had taken the time to look around the operator and general studies classrooms, but they were rather similar in appearance to one another and without the teachers in sight, they hadn't stayed there for long.

A quick glance in the teacher's lounge revealed just where those teachers were, although they seemed to be deeply involved in some sort of conversation and Amara hadn't wanted to disturb them.

The next room had Diamond attempting to push the red-head back out of the door. The library was crammed with books that had the bookworm in Amara almost drooling at the thought of all the knowledge he could get from those pages. There were a few other students in the room as well, some simply browsing the shelves while others were gathered around one of the study tables, speaking in hushed voices.

After that, the three had headed down into the basement where the mechanics class was held. According to rumors, this place was formerly off limits, although with the rise in popularity the school had seen, the space was put to use as a classroom. This was another room that Amara had been eager to see and he wasn't let down.

There was a large variety of tools hanging from the wall with boxes and cupboards that were surely filled with various materials for the mechanics students to play around with. A lone white-haired boy was sat in the corner of the room, screwdriver in his hand as he crouched over a project of some kind. In Amara's opinion, he looked rather similar to their headmaster and wondered if they were related in some way.

By the time all of this had happened it was getting rather late and Diamond's stomach growling informed them that they should probably go and eat. After a meal that wasn't at all quiet with all the students crammed into the cafeteria, Amara, Diamond and William headed up to the next floor and parted ways before entering their separate dorms.

Which lead to the situation Amara now found himself in. Three girls had entered the room, immediately giving high pitched squeals as they spotted Diamond before sighing and frowning over the disheveled state Amara had ended up in. Thankfully it was getting late and a yawn from Diamond spared him from the three for the time being.

As Dia dozed off, spread out over the pillow, the four gave quiet introductions, although the other three seemed more than well acquainted.

The girl with the light brown hair and warm brown eyes introduced herself as Anastasia Blake, although requested to be called Anna. She was hoping to become a ranger with her best friends backing her up as operators.

This prompted the two darker haired girls to introduce themselves. The one with the longer hair and bright blue eyes was Adelaide Henderson who preferred to be called Addy. Krystal "Call me me Krys." Henderson-White was Addy's cousin and the pair were childhood friends with Anna.

The three seemed to react rather favorably to Amara's introduction and he stuck with his earlier story of not knowing what he wanted to do yet. They did promise to give him a makeover at some point however, something which left him feeling somewhat terrified.

It wouldn't hurt, right?

The rest of the adventure through the halls of the schools had been less eventful than the one in the ranger classroom, it seemed, and William couldn't help but laugh when they went into the library and saw Amara's reaction. She really did love books, which was an opinion William couldn't quite share as much. While he didn't mind a good book every once in a while, he sure wasn't drooling over libraries, and definitely didn't stuff his face into a book whenever he had free time.

The operator classroom and mechanic classroom had been pretty cool, Will thought, but he didn't pay attention much since he wasn't planning on spending much time in either of those. The white haired person in the mechanics room had made him feel a bit awkward for some reason though, maybe just because Will felt like he was intruding in the guy's privacy and making it hard for him to concentrate on whatever he was working on, but he didn't seem too disturbed by them...or at least, William hadn't noticed if he had been.

So, as he headed for his dorm and gave his goodbye and see you soon to Diamond and Amara as they went off to their own. Though as he turned away, he could feel his hands shaking with excitement to meet his roommates. You know, I wonder what they're like...but I bet they're all really great!

As he arrived at the door, he gave a quiet knock, warning whoever was inside, if there was anyone, that he was entering, and then used the key to unlock the door. He moved it open before and stepped in before spotting a brunette laying back on his bed. A smile came to his face. The first one he'd meet! The guy was rather attractive, William wouldn't lie, and as he shut the door behind himself, he gave a small wave.

"Hey there!" He said, announcing himself, as it seemed the male hadn't really noticed him come in, or had chosen not to... "Looks like we're roommates!"

The male turned his head away from the phone he'd been looking at, and a glare came to his face, which caught William off guard. Had he done something wrong?

"Dear god, did I ask you to talk to me?" He snapped, and Will winced. "Obviously this one can't take a fucking hint..."

"Er...sorry, didn't mean to intrude. I just figured it might be a good idea to introduce ourselves to each other since we're going to be living with each other for this year?" William forced himself to smile again. "My name's William Hunt, it's nice to meet you...?" He left his tone open to let the other know he wanted his name.

"Keh, regrettably." He muttered, and Will guessed he'd said it about them living together. "Rhydian Smith, that's my name. Learn it, don't forget it. I don't want to have to repeat it to you more than I need to." He looked back over at William. "And Will, learn to take a hint, when people obviously don't want to be spoken to."

"Um, yeah...sorry..." And awkward silence came over the room, and William moved over to his bed, hopping up onto it and then looking over at the table. His eyes narrowed after a moment, and then he looked back at Rhydian, "why do you have pieces of a girl's uniform...?"

Rhydian seemed to perk up at this, and a grin came to his face before he sat up and lifted the clothes off. "Oh you know, they were laying around in the grass, so I took them."

William thought for a moment, before he felt something like anger come up in his chest. "Those are Amara's! You took them!?"

Rhydian suddenly let out a loud laugh and tossed the clothes up and down in his hand. "Wait, you were the one rolling around with that bitch? HA! You've got to be kidding me!" He clapped his hands together, and William couldn't help but see him looking like a Seel, slapping its fins together while it let out its honks. This guy was much less attractive to him now.

"Give them back! She needs those!" He said, reaching out quickly, but Rhydian pulled away.

"Calm down there, you a little desperate? Think giving back her clothes will win a 'favor' from her?"

"What? No! She's just my friend!"

"Holy hell, calm down." Rhydian said, before chucking the clothes at William. "You can have them back. Try not to get too high on the smell she left over on her clothes, you perv."

William quickly took them and set them to the side to fold up so he could return it to her tomorrow. "I'm not a pervert..."

He really hoped the others weren't like this.

Tuesday, September 8th

For Amara, the next morning dawned bright and early. Or rather, just early. It was just shy of dawn, the sun not yet risen over the distant horizon. He would have been perfectly content to sleep in until seven, giving him half an hour to get ready before waking Diamond up and snagging something for them both to eat before breakfast in the cafeteria finished and they had to start getting ready for class.

Instead, he was shaken awake at five by an apologetic looking Anastasia. Blinking away the blurred vision left from his sleep, he looked up at the girl with a silent question upon his face, only for Anna to turn to her friends, the darker-haired duo wearing identical looks of determination.

A vague sense of dread filled him as the trio all but dragged him into the en-suite bathroom and shoving a chair in the way to prevent his escape. "We'll let you out once you've had a shower, then we'll do your hair for you, okay?" With the door inbetween them, Amara couldn't quite make out who it was that spoke, although he guessed it was likely Adelaide since she was the one who seemed most interested in makeovers.

He shuddered a little at the thought of letting anyone do his hair for him, but he likely wouldn't be let out until he complied with the trio's orders. Giving a sigh, he resigned himself to being their doll for the morning and turned on the shower.

He was finally let out of the clutches of the three girls just in time for their first class to start. Once breakfast had started Anna had slipped from their dorm to grab them all something to eat, Diamond having taken the opportunity to escape the chance of being subjected to similar treatment to the red-head.

In the end he supposed they hadn't done too bad of a job, even if the entire look and the process to getting it was far too uncomfortable for him. When I get the chance, I am so going to take my hair down.

It was mostly Adelaide's work, the otherwise quiet girl leading the entire operation. The three had pulled his hair into a tight bun held in place with pins, leaving his face to be framed by curled locks that ended up being kept in line with a pair of dark green Vivillon clips.

It almost hurt to have it done up in such a way, although Amara imagined that it was something he would get used to if his roommates continued to give him makeovers. I am not getting up at that time again though.

It was a tired and vaguely annoyed Amara that arrived at his first class of the year. Stepping through the door, he allowed his shoulders to slump as he gave a sigh of relief at the fact that his roommates would be in the other general studies class for the year.

Not many people had arrived yet, and he couldn't see Will among them so he was honestly unsure as to whether his new friend would be joining him in this class or not. Still, he picked one of the seats towards the back of the classroom, ending up sat next to the white haired boy he remembered seeing in the mechanics classroom yesterday.

The two traded polite nods of greeting, a mutual desire to not talk silently agreed upon before they turned their attention to the front of the class and waited for their teacher and the rest of their fellow students.

  1. Hopefully I played Alexander alright? Tried to keep him as simple as possible...

William had slept...alright, that night, to say the least. Rhydian had left the dorm after several minutes of the two of them sitting in a tense, uneasy silence, and the brunette felt like he could actually breathe once the new stranger was gone. How was he going to survive with that guy around? There was no way...

Luckily, it seemed that whatever kind of deity it was that controlled the events in his life, they weren't too cruel. He'd met the other two he'd be sharing a room later, when they came in together. One introduced himself as Samuel, "but please, just call me Sam," and the other Lukas. Sam was rather quiet, but not in a bad way. He seemed to have a rather soothing, calming atmosphere around himself. Lukas, on the other hand, was quite the talkative one, and Will felt like they hit it off rather well.

Of course, when Rhydian returned, it was awkward once again, but thank goodness the others were there; it was much easier to ignore his negative energy when he was distracted with Lukas and Samuel's talking. Of course, they all explained what they wanted to do as the time went on, with William giving his goals for becoming a ranger, Samuel's want to help others as an operator, and Lukas's very eager interest in mechanics.

Of course, soon it was time for them to get some sleep, if they wanted to be up early enough to get ready and eat breakfast, so they had to break it off for the night around 12:45, and crashed onto their beds.

The next morning Will woke up, he felt drained. The day had been a bit chaotic before, or...just new, with lots of things to look around at and see. And with the late bed time, and early rising, he was definitely feeling deprived of energy. Ugh...this isn't good...not for my first day...

A long sigh escaped from him before he sat up with a groan, and looked around at everyone. It seemed Rhydian had already left, though many of his things were rather thrown around. Lukas was still sleeping, and Samuel seemed to be in the bathroom, if the sound of water from the sink made that clear enough.

Forcing himself to finally stand up, he made his way to the bathroom, and opened the door. Samuel stood by the sink, splashing some water on his face before walking over to a towel and drying it off.

"Good...morning." William said, yawning halfway through and stetching his arms over his head.

"Good morning, Will. Did you sleep well?" Samuel replied, offering a slight smile over at him.

William gave a quiet laugh. "Well enough I guess, but I think I'll be falling asleep much earlier tonight. I feel dead."

Samuel nodded. "Don't worry, you'll be much more awake in little while, once you get moving around and all." He offered some kind of reassurance, and Will nodded. "I'll survive! It is the first day after all, so I'm sure the excitement will help as well."

Samuel nodded once again, before continuing to get ready for the day. Will followed suit, fixing his hair, washing his face, and plenty more before he moved on to getting his uniform. Lukas had finally woken up after some time, but rushed to put himself together. If he hadn't, there was no way he would've gotten breakfast.

And so, William felt this morning was off to a great start as he made his way for the first class.

William made his way to the classroom after some time of lounging around in the lunch room, and opened the doors to a rather busy room, with a teacher he didn't recognize near the front; they hadn't met him yesterday, it seemed. Looking around, he wondered if Amara was in the same general studies as him, before he noticed her sitting down next to the white haired student they'd seen yesterday in the mechanics classroom. A small smile etched into his lips, before he went over and sat down next to her.

"Good morning!" He said, giving a small wave. "Did you sleep well Amara?"

Amara heard the sound of someone sitting on the other side of him, although didn't bother to turn to see who it was until he heard Will's voice. As he turned to face the other boy, the red-head plastered a smile onto his face, doing his best not to let his discomfort show. "Ah, morning Will."

Diamond let his presence be known here by trotting out from under Amara's desk and butting his head against Will's leg. Amara simply rolled his eyes at the obvious ploy for attention before answering the question Will had asked him.

"I slept well enough, though sharing a room with someone other than Dia is gonna take some getting used to." Inwardly he sighed, deeply wishing he could have gotten a room on his own. "How about you? Did you sleep well? How are your roommates, do they seem alright?"

Amara would have likely have carried on asking questions were it not for the yawn that suddenly forced him to stop. What was perhaps rather odd was that at that exact moment, the door to the classroom opened and a man with brown hair entered, yawning as well, a half-asleep Floatzel following him.

The man's shirt was untucked, the top couple of buttons left undone and his hair was a mess, looking like he had just rolled out of bed not five minutes beforehand. Judging by his yawns and sleepy observation of the class, that may have very well been the case.

Still, he did seem to gather the student's attention rather quickly and after a couple of minutes he smiled. "Welcome to your first class of the year. This is general studies and regardless of which course you decided to pursue, you will be coming to this class until you graduate."

He shrugged here before carrying on. "Well, now that the boring stuff is out of the way. This lesson will be relaxed. I'll be going over the basics of what you'll be studying here, but before that we'll take some time to get to know each other. All you need to do is introduce yourself when I call on you, and say a couple things you want to do while you're here. I'll go ahead and start, yeah? I'm Alexander Jones, though feel free to call me whatever you feel comfortable with. During your year here, I hope to help you each down the path to your dreams. And take lots of naps. He tilted his head to the side before glancing over everyone with sharp green eyes. "Something like that. Now, when I call your name out just stand up and introduce yourself, okay?"

Here the man paused to look down at something on his desk. "Hmm. First up, William Hunt."

William gave a smile down to Dia as the Alolan Vulpix nudged his leg, his eyes seeming to light up some with his second meeting with the Pokémon. "Good morning Diamond!" He said, smiling and leaning down to scratch the white fox behind his ears gently. "You rested well last night, I hope?"

The brunette gave a small laugh as Amara explained her night, and then nodded in agreement. "Definitely, but hopefully your roommates are at least nice, yeah?" He asked, before shrugging at her own question. "Well enough, I suppose. Me and two of my roommates were up past midnight, so I probably didn't get as much sleep as I should have for the first day. As for my roommates...I've...gotten along with all but one of them so far." A small frown came to his face as he brushed his hand through Dia's fur again, though he seemed to glance up and look around at everyone in the classroom. "There's this guy named Rhydian, we didn't exactly hit it off...all too well."

William sat up straight at the sound of the man entering the room, along with the Floatzel following behind him. William's eyes lit up again, with the usual reason of seeing a new Pokémon and wanting to maybe talk with it and pet it, but also because of the teacher. So he'd ended up with a laid back teacher! That was a good thing, right? That meant perhaps, if he was late, he wouldn't have to worry so much...since their teacher was just as late already on the first day. At least, that made sense to him.

William kept his attention on their instructor...or, more so his partner, with William's curious eyes staying put for as long as he could, until he heard his name being called, and he paused for a moment, looking around awkwardly and then standing up in his seat. "Ah...hello everyone." He said, offering a smile and a slight wave. Most eyes seemed to be on him (some looked like they were dozing off or like they were up to something else at their desk), something he wasn't used to. At least, he wasn't used to having people paying attention to him in a good way. He could feel his face starting to go red as he made eye contact with several of them, including Alexander.

"Er..." An awkward laugh escaped, and he sheepishly place a hand on the back of his head. "My name's William Hunt, I'm from Snowbelle City in Kalos. I came here because...I'd really like to become a Pokémon Ranger so that I can help Pokémon and people alike. It's been my goal for several years now, and I'm excited to be able to get started with working towards it." He finished, giving a small nod and then quickly sitting back down in his chair, his face still red as he looked down to the ground to avoid looking at anyone.

Alexander gave a yawn and nod as William finished, looking down the list. "Glad to have you in my class." He said simply, before dragging his finger and landing it down on a name on the page. "Alright, let's go with Samuel Anderson next?" He looked up, before his eyes landed on the next brunette to stand up. Samuel gave a smile to the class, exhibiting much better confidence and openness than William had obviously. "Hello, my name is Samuel Anderson, though you're all welcome to just call me Sam." He began, looking around. "I come from Azalea Town in Johto, where we owned a small farm. Anyways, I came here to pursue the occupation of an Operator, as well as learn alongside and help with everyone I can. I'm glad to meet you all, I hope we can all become friends. Let's have a good year together." He finished, before sitting down easily in his chair and turning to a girl who sat next to him, whispering a couple words as they both laughed together.

Alexander nodded at Samuel, giving basically the same greeting to him as William, "Good to be able to have you as a student," before looking down the list again, and then back up. "Would Amara Rivers mind introducing herself next?"

Amara had smiled and nodded as Will answered his questions. Although the teacher introducing himself meant that he couldn't give the other boy a reply. The idea of having to stand up an introduce himself made him slightly nervous, what could he say that wouldn't give him away?

He admittedly only half listened to Will's introduction. Most of it he had heard the previous day as the pair had gotten to know each other. After that, their teacher gave a brief comment before moving onto the next person.

And then it was his turn. "Would Amara Rivers mind introducing herself next?" He gave a barely noticeable flinch before standing up.

Plastering a bright smile onto his face, he gave a slight wave before beginning. "Hey, it's nice to meet you all. I'm Amara Rivers, and I'm not sure what path I want to follow just yet, though I'm hoping to find out." A yip interrupted him and Amara blinked before crouching down to scoop Diamond up into his arms.

"This is Diamond, he's been with me for a couple of years now. Uhh, I hope we can all be friends."

At the teacher's nod he sat back down, relieved that the ordeal was over with. He sighed a little as the man gave no further comment, simply continuing down the list of students.

Amara absently listened as each of his fellow students took turns to introduce themselves, only really paying attention when the last one was asked to introduce himself.

"I am Nathaniel Bennett, and before anyone asks, yes, the Principal is my uncle. I'm here to become a mechanic." Short and to the point, the boy sat down without waiting for a prompt to do so, and Amara couldn't help but watch the white-haired teen for a few moments longer before the teacher clapped to gain everyone's attention again.

"Well I certainly look forward to teaching you all over the coming year. We will now spend the next bit of time going over an outline of what we will cover during your stay here, then I will be open to questions." The man gestured at the board behind him as he pressed a couple of buttons on the laptop on his desk which prompted an image to appear on the board.

"To start with we will cover the basics. Geography, mathematics and the like. Yes, I know they're boring, but this will free up your other classes for more interesting topics." He paused to smile at the students, causing a couple of them to swoon, and Amara to huff a laugh at his classmates' reactions to the man.

"As the year progresses, we will start tackling more complex topics. History, politics and law are the bulk of what you will learn here. No matter which path you choose to follow, or even if you decide on another career altogether, these are important things to know about." Alexander lifted a mug to his lips and took a couple of sips before carrying on. "And finally, to round out the year we'll take a look at lighter topics. Art, language and other such things. These I imagine will be more fun and they'll be a nice way to round out the year as they won't be as intensive as your other subjects. Now, any questions?"

Amara shook his head, he didn't have any and while the course load seemed to be a lot, he imagined that it would be a fairly easy year for him. Some of those particular topics he had touched on while studying to become a nurse, so if they proved too easy he could simply learn ahead instead.

Alexander Jones was many things. Lazy, childish and intelligent were all words that could be used to describe him. Above all those, however, he was a cultivator of potential. His lazy side often caused people to relax around him, which in turn provided him with the opportunity to observe their true selves.

This year's class seemed to have more potential than the previous few years. Oh he didn't doubt that more than half of the students would drop out at some point, either before the year was up or just after graduation. The life as a ranger, mechanic or operator was a demanding one and many found that they didn't have what it took to keep up with the harsh standards.

In particular, four students stood out to him, and as he waited for any questions the class might have, he took the time to observe those teens in particular.

Nathaniel Bennett was one student he had heard a fair amount about from the Principal. The boy seemed to have inherited his uncle's intellect, although his social skills weren't quite up to par with the man. He had briefly spied the boy making his way to the mechanics classroom the previous day, and according to Harrison, the white-haired teen had to be practically dragged to bed by his roommates.

Next up was Samuel Anderson. The teen was friendly, if perhaps apparently a little quiet. His introduction certainly revealed more than most would think at first listening. The boy may be quiet, but he had a subtle charismatic air to him, and he wouldn't be surprised if others found it easy to talk to the teen. If nothing else, Alexander was certain that he would make a decent operator in the future, if that was where he decided his path led.

The third of the students he was interested in was William Hunt. Seemingly full of energy, he had glimpsed the boy a couple of times the previous day along with the Rivers girl. He had seemed to be non-stop, although no less observant for that abundance of energy. It wasn't a surprise to hear that he wished to become a ranger, William's enthusiasm and love for pokémon would benefit him with that path.

The final person he was interested in was the aforementioned Rivers girl. Amara Rivers had seemed to feel some sort of discomfort when he had called her name. Although given the way the girl was currently tugging at her hair in order to dislodge it from its prison, perhaps that was more due to the term of address than being singled out. There was also something about the smile she had put on that seemed too bright, almost fake. Although the fondness in her voice when she spoke about her partner was certainly genuine. He had a feeling that the girl was already set on which path she wished to take however.

Still, even though those four stood out in his eyes, Alexander certainly looked forward to seeing how this year would play out.

William couldn't help but give a small laugh at Diamond's demand for being introduced, though he guessed it was more so for the attention the Vulpix would receive from the other students as Amara did so. The brunette didn't waste time giving the Pokémon his attention as well, anyways.

It was good to know Samuel was in this class with him as well; he felt like they'd hit it off well enough so far, much better than Rhydian at least (just relieved that Rhydian wasn't in this class with him was...very much an understatement). Then there was Nathaniel Bennett, hadn't they seen him the other day at the mechanics classroom? He couldn't really remember, a lot had happened that day and they'd really just glanced into the classroom, or at least, with his attention span of the place he had, it had felt like it.

Alexander seemed to give a quick rundown of what they'd be learning about, and while there were a couple things that seemed extremely boring (he imagined he would struggle to keep up good grades and rates for those topics if his attentions decided to betray him then), but for the most part? The class wouldn't be plenty fun. Especially with their teacher, if the way he came to class today was going to end up as an everyday event. Plus, his Floatzel...

I...I wonder if I'll get to pet it? I hope so..."

William thought for a moment as Alexander closed his short talk and opened it to the class for questions, and while most didn't seem like they had much, one thought happened to come and go through the teen's mind. So, he was quick to raise his hand to get the instructor's sleepy attention, in hopes that the answer he wouldn't receive would be one to lift his spirits higher about the way this class wasn't sounding so far.

"Mr. Jones, is this class going to mainly be in the classroom?" He began. "Or maybe, do you think we'll be able to go out occasionally and do things outside? Maybe a trip or something...?" He figured the answer to his question was probably going to disappoint him, but he couldn't help himself in asking. The idea of being able to maybe go outside occasionally, perhaps play with some of the Pokémon...or really just be able to escape the desk he sat in more than they'd ever been able to at his old school back in Snowbelle City...? That wouldn't most definitely, and easily, be his ideal way to spend a class every once in a while. Besides, he always felt cramped up in the uncomfortableness of seats when they were stuck in them all day long. It was painful for him with his abundant amount of energy that seemed to be "refilled" each morning after a good night a rest.

With the class descending into near silence after their teacher opened up for questions, Amara leaned back in his seat to idly observe his fellow students. Will's hand going up and the question that followed.

The man gave a slight smile before responding to the question. "Unfortunately your lessons with me will be primarily in the classroom. There may be a trip or two further down the line should it become necessary, however it will be the other classes that will have you out and about more frequently." Alexander inclined his head here slightly before focusing on the class once more.

"Now, do we have any other questions?"

It was Amara who raised his hand here, waiting for the teacher to acknowledge him before speaking. "What sort of level will these subjects be at? I've already studied a few of them before. Will we be able to study ahead if we need to?"

The man hummed in thought for a moment, "depending on the level you studied at before then some of the things we will cover you may already know. May I ask what you were studying for Miss Rivers?"

The red-headed teen nodded, forcing a smile to his lips. "I was studying to become a doctor or nurse." Not that it was my choice, however.

Alexander merely lifted a brow at Amara's response, "I assume that means we'll be covering some of the same things you've already studied then. Feel free to speak to me if that happens and we'll arrange for something more advanced then."

He nodded in thanks, relaxing into his seat, content to wait out the rest of the lesson.

"Now, any last questions?" There wasn't time for anyone to respond however, as the bell signifying the end of the class rang. The teacher blinked sleepily at the time before shrugging. "Well, looks like that's it for now. Lunch starts in half an hour and your next lesson starts at around half past two. If I'm remembering correctly, you'll be joining with the other class for your Operator Studies introduction. If you have any more questions, feel free to come over and ask, otherwise I'll see you all again tomorrow."

With that, the man sat in his chair, slumping over and almost dozing off in his seat, while the Floatzel snickered behind him. This was the signal for several students to leave the room, some of them talking loudly about the class in groups.

Nathaniel left the class alone, and Amara watched him leave before turning to smile at Will. "So, what do you think?"
