A couple of days pass, and they are told that the quarantine is escalating – but no one bothers to explain this any further. Not long later, they are left alone as the policeman on duty runs off to attend an emergency. Again, they are told nothing.
No one returns for many hours. The prisoners in lock-up are growing rowdy after having gone without food for 16 hours.
They yell at the cameras, confused by the absence of an officer since they were served dinner on the previous night. They want food, and they want answers. Finally an officer stumbles down the stairs, but there’s something wrong.
He is bleeding and his face is pale. He is only able to take a few steps before he collapses. There is a stunned silence, followed by curious chatter. A few minutes pass before the officer moves again.
He gets to his feet and turns towards the prisoners. He snarls as he lunges at them. The prisoners flinch back. The officer continues to push his body against the bars. His arms stretch through the bars and snatch at them.
His keys are dangling from his belt, close enough to grab off him.
Meanwhile, outside is complete chaos. New York has been divided into zones by the military, many are still safe, but they are quickly falling as zones become overrun with undead.
The infected have no desire but to eat uninfected human flesh. They are able to move quickly within the first few days of infection, but slow down after that time.
Moving through the city is difficult, as abandoned cars litter the streets and military fencing creates chokepoints. This won’t be easy.
You are a prisoner, locked up in the holding cells at the police station. You have no idea what’s going on, but your first clue is that zombified police officer. You're hungry because you haven't eaten in so long. To add to your troubles, you have literally nothing because your things were confiscated when you were locked up in here.
Character sheet is mostly up to you, but I do request the use of a live action face claim, and include age and at least 2 paragraphs.

The police station is eerily empty. There is some evidence of foul play, blood on the walls and floors, papers scattered across the floor and a couple of desks overturned.
