Haven, a place in Self Interest

Setting

In 2002 the Wizarding Government decided that there was no need to hide themselves. Panic and Riots ensued, causing much destruction in both words. Many wizards and their families fled to avoid the radicals, muggle and wizard alike. No one had expected the sudden violence. Maybe in a year or more but not within a couple of months. They looked for a place to create safe society of wizards. That’s when rumors began to spread. It was said that in the ocean there is an island. One that was privately owned by the Slayter family. They were a high class family of wizards that didn’t boast their wealth. The location of the Island is unknown unless learnt from the secret keeper. Which is always the first born female on the mother’s side. Adrienne was the first Secret Keeper. Her daughter Tora took over as the primary secret keeper when Adrienne died. Tora didn’t live on the island though she would visit it in the summer months with her family. She had three children and after she died her daughter Willa took over for her as the Primary secret keeper. At this point only her father and her siblings knew of the island’s location. Willa was tempted to not tell her daughter, Annabeth of the location but after some consideration she did. Annabeth was the one who began to make it habitable along with her husband Hunter. They built the first lasting building on the island. These rumors proved to be true. The cottage looks over a large expanse of field and initially had four bedrooms. She shared a room with her husband. The two children, Richard and Eira, had separate bedrooms. Her cousin, Stanley, had a room as well. But as her children married with other families they added on to it. They often left the island for work and school or when they needed to buy necessities. It was Annabeth’s idea to use the island as a safe haven. Of course with everything terms and conditions applied so it you met none there was no way for you to live at the Island. There are tailors to get clothing and mend it. There is also a market that sells the produce that is grown on the island or brought to the island via the boat. There are also some animals such as chickens and goats. Anything not on the island is either brought to the island or people are free to go to the main island and bring it back. By 2015 things are already in full swing. The island has a small village there. All the buildings are in the main field. All the housing units and non-housing (i.e the stores, schools etc). There is one restaurant, which is more of a communal dining area. Though it can easily be made up to look nice. There are many wizards after all. Many do travel back to the mainland at times for special occasions. There is no worries about them coming or going as they aren’t able to bring anyone back or be followed. There is absolutely no apparating DIRECTLY onto the Island. There is an outpost, which is a sturdy floating platform about 100 feet from the outside of the effects of the charms and spells. There is typically a boat that will carry passengers to and from the island. If there is not then it is either on the way or already making it’s way to the island. There is a mountain range that runs through the middle of the island. There are forests, small lakes and rivers that liven up the island. The island is large enough that many places have yet to be explored. There is an abundance of wildlife. Life on the island is peaceful but there are always things that can go wrong.
