In the year 2050 man had prospered. We suceeded in terraforming Mars and Venus to livable conditions. Also man made cities were put on Jupiter's moons. Space colonization had swept the floor for the human race. The ending months of 2050 was a historical point for mankind. Not only had we just perfected the science of warping across space. We found a planet that we humans could easily inhabit. Serenia was this planets new name. Supposed to be paradise for man outside the solar system. Small scout missions were conducted to ensure the safety of settlers. No intelligent alien life forms were ever found on the planet. Though the idea is possible. Little animal and plant life was on the planet which they had now named Serenia. Though the planet provided great energy through geothermal and wind power. Precious minerals were abundant within the planet's core. So thousands bought the oppurtunity of a lifetime to live outside of our solar system. It took three years for each colonization shuttle to find Serenia. After five years in 2058 problems began to grow out of proportion. The surface temperature of Serenia is ten degrees farenheit. Plants wouldn't grow in the planet's soil and loss of supplies was fatal to the settlers. The animals fur blocked off the only guns they had which was laser rifles. Only regular would work but nobody had carried a regular gun anymore. Death stared the colonists in the face at every turn they made. So the governments of the worlds recalled the colonization to get the people to safety. Everyone but our colony of Red Eagle. Red Eagle was one of the three colonies under U.S. jurisdiction. Safe from weather in a poorly chosen place by the military. It was placed in the Char mountain's large caverns but 632 miles away from the closest military outpost of any country. The risk was taken for the largest collection of diamonds on the planet. Records were lost of the town even existing at all due to computer failure on the only terminal with their information. At it's peak Red Eagle had 2,000 people settled within it. Only a hundred so far are left. The others died of starvation, mine cave ins, or disease. Food is down to one storeroom full and thats enough to feed about a hundred people for two weeks. People are actually considering walking out into the blizzard to try and find the emergency rations silo. Though due to a fire in the town center the file holding the location was lost. The emergency radio in the town can only play emergency broadcasts across the planet to other settlements. But being the only people left on Serenia there is no point nobody will hear it. Panic has stricken the people though most cope with accepting death. Every need of ours is met but food is about to go out. Our late mayor stated "we will survive, even without supply shipments ,and even without the government. We are the human interplanetary colonists and we will live on." Now staring death in the face my children tell me. Do you have what it takes to spit in his face or will he take you away?
