Background Information

Two years ago Bourne was being hunted by Black, a previous agent of Operation Treadstone. By chance the two ran into each other and battled it out, though with more field experience Bourne succeeded in capturing her. Bourne held Black in his custody for three weeks before she agreed to help him stay out of the CIA’s grasp. They had a brief romantic fling that ended when Black was shot during a chase and was presumably killed. Bourne escaped thinking that she was dead, not knowing that she survived. Black was hospitalized for a week and a half before released into CIA custody where she was kept locked up in the Operation Outcome facility.

Roberts met Martin four years ago during a mission. After dating for a year they got married, though marital problems caused them to go into counseling. Though the counselor, the two were admitted into the facility where they were put into Operation Outcome. Their marital problems increased while at the facility and they could no longer be kept together. For the last three years they have worked for the facility as experiments for biological enhancements in field agents. Recently, however, the two heard news of rumors that the Operation was going to be terminated. This was when they made their escape.

The Martin sisters were never close as children. Despite being half-sisters, they lived in separate houses with separate families. Strangely, both became government agents at around the same time. Serena, the older of the two, was employed by the FBI while Lily became an agent of CIA and was immediately submitted into Operation Treadstone. Contact between the two ceased until Lily, now known as Amara Black, managed to call Serena, now Maria West, while being held captive by Bourne. West became depressed when she heard of Black’s death, but through her husband she was told that her sister was still alive. For this purpose, the couple broke Black out while escaping.

After being shot in the chest, Black was hospitalized and underwent minor surgery. The bullet had scraped past her heart and the surgery was to correct the tear created. At times she still experiences heart pains similar to those of a heart attack, though she is not in any life-threatening sort of condition. Hospitalization was completed and Black returned to the Operation Outcome CIA facility where she was tortured for information on Bourne. She has been treated fairly for the past two years but suffers from traumatic nightmares and flashbacks of being tortured.
