Introduction
One moment we’re young and spry, living in the moment without any thought of regret. Though we overlook it, the world is bustling with activity and innovations, ripe for the picking before us.
The next moment, we’re staring into the glazed-over eyes of a decrepit bag of withered bones, watching as the epiphany of all our regret and sorrow, a stream of tears, rolls its way down our cheeks.
It seems so foolish, the answer is known, yet we can’t help but ask:
“Where has the world gone?”
No one really knows anymore, how the world ended. Humans no longer extend across the globe; we are confined to cities that are encased in glass, like snowglobes, in order to protect us from the baren wasteland that was once our planet. Years upon years passed, while we tried to go on with our lives. It was never the same, of course. It never would be.
One city in particular soon became something of gossip, a place full of monsters and death. It was originally known as Orb Number 22, the twenty-second city formed as a human refuge, but it soon became known as Olympus. The human population there fell drastically, replaced by beings that looked human, but called themselves gods.
Morrigan claimed to be their creator, the Ruler of the Gods, but in reality, she had created monsters. Human weapons of mass destruction, they alone can survive in the barren wastelands. Her Knights make frequent trips to the other cities, known as Orbs, to pillage and steal, gathering supplies and subjects for Morrigan's gruesome experiments.
Her two greatest Knights, Knightmare and Terra Knight, are the brunt of her force, and none compare to them. Except for one, in particular. Knight Rain, the only Knight to reject Morrigan and fight against her, has become a thorn in her side. Morrigan wants him subdued or gone, but there is a catch. Knight Rain is Knightmare's twin brother, and as such, Knightmare is reluctant to fight him, even if she herself doesn't understand why.
In the City of Olympus, the Gods walk among the humans, disguised. The Gods clash and fight, while the city around them crumbles. It is no longer a way of life, or a place to survive.
~The universal behavioral pattern that ensures the survival of an organism.
~Pain causes discomfort so that the organism is inclined to stop the pain.
~Fear causes the organism to seek safety and may cause a release of adrenaline, which has the effect of increased strength and heightened senses such as hearing, smell, and sight.
~Self-preservation may also be interpreted figuratively; in regard to the coping mechanisms one needs to prevent emotional trauma from distorting the mind.
