Mizuumi's eyes shot open and she sat up in her bed, coughing as smoke filled her lungs. Fire? She thought to herself, feeling her heart lurch as the sound of cracking wood could be heard. She jumped out of bed, picking up her boots and dress, there was no time to put on her clothes so she would have to make due with what she had on. She picked up her violin case and tucked her flute into the zipper, then wrapped her shoes up in her dress and tied it to the violin strap. Her eyes scanned the room to see if Leoh had come up to bed but he was no where to be found. "Leoh!" she screamed. Perhaps he hadn't gone to bed and was downstairs when the fire broke out. How could a fire start here? She ran to the door, her bare feet pounding on the hardwood floor. She opened the door and looked down the hallway, only to realize the fire has already spread up the stairs and there was no way to get down from the upper level.
Slamming the door shut, she ran to the window, grabbing her spear off the floor beside her bed and crashing it into the glass, causing tiny shards to scatter across the floor and outside. She looked out the window and glanced down at the ground. It's too high! There is no way I would be able to jump from here! She took a couple of steps back, ignoring the sharp pain in her heel as she stepped on a piece of the broken glass. She could've actually managed to climb down if she hung herself out the window and stepped down onto the lower roof, which she was fully capable of doing, if her extreme fear of heights hadn't got the best of her. She stood there, clutching her spear, half using it as something to lean on while her legs became shaky form breathing in all the smoke. "Leoh, Where are you!" She called out to him, hating to let him see her in such a distressed mood. She pressed her back against the wall beside the window she had broken, coughing rapidly at the smoke. Had everyone else gotten out okay? She thought to herself, more worried about them than she was about herself.
