Alistaire has a tendency to get lost in his own thoughts, spacing out more often than not if you were to ask his peers. Although you wouldn't be able to tell by his carefree, nonchalant attitude, he has major insecurities about himself, especially now that he's been claimed as a son of Hades, an uncertain and slightly unwelcome change in his opinion. However, when he sets his mind to something, he is headstrong, adept, and willing to do whatever it takes to finish the task at hand, making him a very reliable individual.
â History â
Alistaire grew up with his mother, Destiny Barnes, in Stowe, Vermont, a quiet, small town with a New England feel to it. He and his mother were very close, and she often helped him with his schoolwork, keeping him focused when his ADHD started to take control and aiding his reading, as he tended to mix words up due to dyslexia. When he was around thirteen years old, he was in class, and like usual, he was spacing out. The teacher called him out on it, making a fool of him in front of the class. He felt unusually angry at the circumstances, and in reaction, pounded his fist on his desk. At the same moment, an earthquake hit the school, though it wasn't big enough to cause any concern. Alistaire didn't bother excusing himself and simply ran out of class and towards home. When he arrived, his mother was waiting for him, having gotten a call from the school explaining the situation.
When she confronted him about it, he ran upstairs to his room, slamming the door behind him, another small earthquake manifesting itself. His mother opened his door, knowing she needed to speak to him. She explained to him that she didn't know who his father was exactly, and that all she knew was that he was a god of some sort. Naturally, Alistaire brushed this off, thinking she was delusional.
A few weeks passed, and Alistaire had not returned to school, not wanting to deal with the repercussions he would have to face if he did. His mother came to him, telling him that someone had come to see him. A smallish boy, looking to be around his own age but very short, trotted into the room. He looked like any normal kid, though he did walk a little bit funny. The next thing Alistaire knew, he learned that the kid was a satyr and that he was there to escort him to a place called Camp Half-Blood.
Alistaire was hesitant at first, but the satyr boy, named Taavi, explained to him that if he did not "make haste," as the satyr put it, monsters would soon start detecting his presence in the area, especially now that his powers had begun to manifest. Taavi illustrated to Alistaire that the earthquakes had indeed been caused by him, and that other powers would likely come to light soon enough as well.
Once at Camp Half-Blood, Alistaire was put into Cabin 11, the Hermes Cabin, where all of the unclaimed demigods were put. There, he met a boy who would become his best friend, Castor Hayes. Neither of the two had been claimed by a god as of yet, and both wondered if they ever would.
When Alistaire was sixteen, almost seventeen, something wonderful and also terrifying happened. He was claimed. He was claimed by Hades, the lord of the Underworld. The gods were supposed to be asleep, or dead, or something, so he wondered how it could be possible that Hades was able to claim him. Alistaire had mixed feelings about the situation, unsure if he even wanted to be claimed now. He was moved to Cabin 13, the Hades Cabin, where he met the twins of Persephone, Ivy and Rowan. Now, it was up to him, the twins of Persephone, and his best friend, Castor, to find the artifacts needed to wake the sleeping gods.
