Daniel could still feel it. Something about him wasn't feeling the way it should. He wasn't quite sure how to describe it.
Pain had always been a side affect of excessive use of his power, but this was different. Was it because there had been another him, using his power so close....
Daniel shook himself out of his line of thought. Not because he didn't want to think about it, but because he already had. He had thought of every explanation he could think of, and came up with no real idea he was sure of. He was tempted to think that Cyler was involved, that Cyler was doing this to him. That somehow he was poisoned. But according to the test Korra had done for him, there was no trace of poison in his system.
And he remembered Gabriel again.
Daniel didn't like this. Granted, he didn't like his past situation either, being in the middle of a gang war. Being hunted by Cyler to prove his strength and have his revenge. But at least the rules were normal. There were no odd twists, no unexpected meetings with himself, no confusion. It was simple. Nice.
As Daniel wiped his nose, he realized it was bleeding. He stepped into an alleyway to wipe it up, and when he looked back up his mother was standing in front of him.
"Okay, now I am definitely going insane" he told himself, under the belief it was a hallucination. He was half right.
"Only if I was really alive, or really your mother, or anything other then an image your subconscious developed to give you a message that you are being too stupid to see otherwise" she said to him, cold and blatently. Well, at least he wasn't that crazy if he was at all. His real mother, nor a hallucination of her, would just blatently insult him. He thought that, anyways.
But he also wasn't in the mood for playing games with his own head. "If you...me...have something to say, just say it".
"Your an idiot. And you are procrastinating. You cant just sit here and do nothing. You need to help someone important".
"And who is that?"
"Again, idiot" she said. And he immediately figured it out.
"Gabriel?" he asked, but she was gone. He cursed at his own subconscious for a moment, before realizing how stupid that looked. Still, why did Daniel have to do this?
He really wanted to punch something about this.
