As Shizuka was making her daily rounds at the dorm, she managed to catch a glimpse of Yuzuki running off outside. "Nakahara? What's going on?" She wondered as she ran down the stairs to no luck, since she wasn't able to catch up anyway.
"Did she perhaps see something in the basement? Regardless, I think I'll check it out. Damn, hope these things don't pile up--there's still Shiori's case to consider."
Back at the diner, Shiori turns down Sora's offer to pay. "No, it's no trouble. Guess we'll just pay for our own then." Shiori remarked as she waited for their order. Soon enough, Sora began to talk.
"Oh, sorry. I got carried away with my stories after asking you about telling me something from the dorm! So? Anything interesting happening there?"
Shiori thought about it for a moment. Recalling one particular incident, she proceeded to narrate it to the boy.
"It was around two years ago, I think. It happened in a room, right across ours. A classmate of a dormer stayed in overnight at her room, since they had a project to finish. Well, as you know, your sister believes the place to be haunted and that's exactly what the dormer warned her about. At around two in the morning, she heard someone knocking on her door. She didn't pay any attention to it though and just went back to sleep. She told the story to us first thing in the morning--" Shiori paused for a bit before continuing.
"Come to think of it, it was the first time Shizuka went along with the stories. Anyway--"
Scenario...
Girl: "It's true! I woke up to some bastard tearing my door down! It lasted all throughout the night--it was so annoying!"
Shiori: "Hmmm...maybe it's a ghost or something..."
Girl: "What? No way!"
Shiori: "I don't know...this building had already survived a fire...who knows, maybe it's someone who died trapped in one of the rooms."
Shizuka: "I think it's too early to conclude just yet but, it's true. This building already has a history where it survived a fire that broke out. Many died trapped in their rooms. Place was once a hospital, you know?"
Girl: "My God! Good thing I didn't open the door. Otherwise--I may have seen a burnt man--ughh! So creepy!"
Shiori: "Yeah...Good for you."
Shizuka: "Yeah--wait. Those people died because they were trapped in the rooms. So if that's the case, then won't it be more logical to assume that the knocking was coming from inside the room with you rather than the outside?"
Scenario end...
"And after that, the girl immediately went home, white as a sheet." Their orders arrived and Shiori started eating while thinking of more stories. "Shinji has mentioned a weird thing to me back then too but--I don't think you're ready to hear about it just yet..." Shiori hesitated, taking Sora's age into consideration.
