Nemesis stalked about the palace of Hades, her metallic shoes verbrating against the marble walls of the depressing house and the servants cowering at her very sight. The lights were dim, as they always were, for sunlight never shone through the menacing clouds of the underworld and the air was muffled like the same kind inside a coffin or a tomb that had not been touched for a great many of centuries.

The desperate Goddess searched for her lover with haste, looking into each room for a mere second and calling his name all about the Palace. She would gladly have sacreficed her pride and asked a lowly servant for guidance, though they quivered with such fear whenever in her presence, that they couldn't seem to get words through their useless mouths. Nemesis was enjoying the new respect she had gained in the dark depths of the ground; respect she had never been shown nor given by the Gods and Goddesses on Mount Olympus. Nemesis winced, loathing her sisters, brothers, and "comrades" for the way they had used her. Especially Zeus, the one who had summoned her for all the menial chores and tasks on Mount Olympus.

Persephone glanced down from her bedroom window. And saw the vial woman she called, Nemesis, stalking about the grounds. "Just give up already..." She whispered. She turned and her dresses twirled around as she did so. "Hermes!" She called as she swung open her bedroom doors. "Hermes!!!" She yelled again. When the young man showed, with his winged sandels, Persephone sighed. "Hermes, where is my husband?" She breathed quietly. But Hermes just stood and shook is head, "I have no idea you highness, after Nemesis showed...." He hung his head. Presephone just sighed and waved Hermes away and stalked back to her room.

Up on Mount Olympus, things were not going exactly as Iris had hoped.

With Hermes' sudden disappearance (no, really, where in Hades had the god went? This was his job, not hers), Iris had been granted the wonderful job of being the message slave of Olympus. Oh, how Zeus had promised her riches and tokens and prayers and temples if she did her job right and this crisis, caused by the one and only Hades, was finally averted.

Smooth talk by a not-so-smooth man. She really should not have trusted him within ten cubits of her. Or, for that matter, any entity who was so self-righteous about his or her own messaging capabilities that (s)he had never, ever heard of the advent of the 'letter'. No, everyone had to rely on her, the great rainbow queen! Goddess of prettiful, natural phenomena! Iris, the multicoloured one!

Ugh. She hated gods sometimes.

Noticing the approach of one of the lesser demigods of the land from a couple hundred metres away, she sighed and disappeared, only to reappear right by her. The girl (for she really was no more than that, if she was acting so surprised by Iris' dour expression in these times) tremulously gave the goddess a small, rectangular package covered with iridescent wrapping paper and ran off, looking as though she could barely contain her urination.

Iris furrowed her newly-waxed eyebrows and unwrapped the paper, revealing a plain white box. She opened up the flaps and found...

... absolutely nothing.

Good Gods, she'd have to talk to Ares about killing a few of these demigods.

The dread king of the Underworld was taking a solitary walk along the banks of Styx. The waters were murky and if possible darker in then skies. Those inky waves gave the pale hands of the struggling shades within it a sharper contrast. When ever there was plague, famine, or some great war, the river became littered with them. They would flood his realm in frantic panic, filling the bank in a writhing mob, in their haste they would push their fellows into the relentless currents of Styx. Not surprising there were more then usual today. It was one of Persephone's favorite entertainments to kindly fish them out.

The surface world just started it's recuperation from the first wave of his wrath. Hades however was far from being appeased. He was brought into this recess not by choice, but in retreat of his brother's thunderbolts the most powerful weapons of the gods, even an immortal avoided the lengthy recovery a wound from several well placed hits would bring. Had he his spear and helmet at the time, he would have gladly fought him even if it would be a an up hill battle.

Hades' looked upward at hearing the sound of little fluttering wings. Hermes wearing his famous winged-sandals hovered over Styx, he touched the water's surface with his traveling stick, and a shade desperately grabbed a hold of it. "Leave it as is!" grunted Hades, irritated at the younger gods meddling. Hermes sighed and pulled the stick away from the man who screamed in frustration before sinking back beneath the waves. "What is it you want?" Hades demanded. Hermes flew towards him and made a perfect landing. "Greetings uncle, you're just the god I wanted to see," Hermes gave him a friendly smile, he gave the young man a scowl in return. Hermes took a step back nervously, his winged sandal fluttered in response to the movement. "My father wants to speak to you...on civil terms, I need a time and place that is convenient for y-," "Is that so? Since when has Zeus ever been concerned with what's convenient to anyone but himself!" Hades gave Hermes a look of disdain and walked away from him. "You should get going, after all you have your work cut out for you, with all the new subjects you'll be bringing to my kingdom" Hades roared with bitter laughter. "Uncle this isn't you in all the centuries that I've brought the dead here I've come to know you enough to tell that you truly have a just heart. If the other gods have angered you then talk to us, there's no need for this, give me a time!" Hades wasn't sure what angered him more, Hermes' words or the fact that he had hoped and made a flip in the air catching up to him, although the boy had the good sense to land a few paces behind him. "My anger is with all who dwell up there! You know the way out Hermes, or do I have to show it to you?" Hermes started floating a few inches off the ground Hades was pleased to see that he was taking the hint. "B-by the way Hades..." "What!" Hades spun around to meet his nephew face to face. Hermes drifted backwards a bit as he spoke. "Your wife is looking for you..and if I'm not mistaken so is Nemesis, at least I thought I heard her calling you." His eyes followed Hermes' with his own to make sure he didn't detect any bit of amusement. He could imagine his private affairs might have become a fountain of gossip on Olympus. Hermes took off without warning, probably feeling uneasy by the stare off.

Hades sighed as he made his way towards his palace, he used to count the days until winter when he would be reunited with his beloved queen, now he counted the days for the season to end, he had placed himself in his own personal and very awkward Tartarus, living with a his wife and his lover. Hades made a V-line for Persephone's rooms which were connected to his, he was in a rush so the servants prudently stayed clear of his path. "Hades...Hades," Nemesis was calling him somewhere just around corner from the hall way he was in, he thought it best to go to her first, rather then have her burst into Persephone's room it wouldn't be unlike Nemesis to do something so rash. He rounded the corner to see Nemesis' backside. "Who is this Hades you speak of and does he realize how fortunate he is, to have one as lovely as you calling his name?" He asked sardonically, as he leaned against the black marble wall.

(( Wow this sucks, I write this long intro up only to realize that our "fearless" GM, has abandoned her own character. U_U I'd say lets luvly_bones and I scrap these post, and make the story just about Hades vs Zeus without the Nemesis part, but eh GM leaving her own RP is a failure waiting to happen. I love Greek mythology, if any of you want to start up a RP based on it, let me know I'd be willing to play any god or interesting mortal (Helen, Hercules, Odysseus etc).
