Introduction
Animal control kills the chimp and the lady is taken to the hospital. They treat her as best they can, give her a shot for the rabies, something for the cold she suddenly has, tries to take down the fever that just won't go away. And she seems better. The next morning they find her dead and take her down to the morgue where, later that night, she wakes up, hungry for a midnight snack. One of the janitors gets bitten, one of the patients, a doctor. Over night the entire hospital is filled with crazy, canibalistic zombies. And it isn't long before they escape...
And that was ten years ago. Back then the government denied it all, tried to keep it a secret, but nothig they did seemed to work. It wasn't long before they stopped trying to fix it and just started killing. But nothing lasts, and over the course of a month most communication went down. Half a year in and there was no military, no government. No more electricity, no more cars, no more worring about the oil spills. And things went to hell for a long time.
For the first few years it was like this, pure chaos. People were running from the zombies, and most didn't get away. Anyone bitten became infected, if they weren't eaten. They would get sick, like the worst flu of their lives, then go mad, then die...then wake up, hungry for flesh and brains. People soon found out that there was only one good way to kill a zombie. Destroy the brain. Weather this meant shooting them in the head or taking their heads off, as long as the brain worked so did the rest of it. Now, that isn't to say they're otherwise immortal. They don't live forever, even if they do continue to fed on the living. Eventually they just sort of, shut down, and the better health they were in before bitten, the longer they last.
But then people began to learn not to be afraid anymore. They went out, in packs, like animals, and killed hundreds, thousands of zombies, and cleanred out towns and cities and reclaimed them as their own. They set up perimeters to keep out the other zombies, and to screen anyone who wanted inside the walls. By about year 8 things were begining to look up again. With these newly reclaimed cities and people to protect them, those who knew how to get the electricity going, or restart gas pump, were able to get back to their jobs. People were able to see at night without the use of torches. They could dive out of town and look for survivors, or go out as hunting parties and kill more zombies.
Evetrything was looking so much better. There were of course the occasion mess ups. Someone in the coty would leave, get bitten, and not tell anyone. but that wasn't too bad. Not until the virus mutated. Now it's not just humans to worry about, it's the animals you have to watch out for as well. And, as if that wasn't bad enough, the virus has developed an incubation period, meaning that once bitten a person might actually have long eough for their wound to heal before they died and came back. Now those cities out there don't let anyone in, and they raise their own meat and fruits and veggies.
So, who are you? Are you one of the people who live in one of these cities? kept 'safe' from the outside world? Or maybe you were on the outside of one of these cities when they started shooting first and asking questions later? Then again, there's always the chance you never even knew these cities existed. Some people never tried to seek out others and became drifters, killing and moving from place to place to stay alive. The possibilities are endless, and the only question you have to ask yourself is, how long do I want to survive in this Hell?

As of now he was driving an old pick up truck, one of the ones made long before he was born, when cars were still made of metal. It had been black once, but now was a mozaic of paint chips and rust, and holes in some places. but when he'd found it at a rest stop a couple of days ago it had had a full tank of gas. There wasn't much room in it, of course, but then he didn't need much room for a suitcase and a couple of machettes. He had no plans to pick up any hitchhikers along the way.
Flipping through the station, and yes, somone had figured out how to get the radio stations back on the air, he listened in here and there as cities put out warnings, telling people that 'you will be shot on sight' or 'just stay the fuck away.' He could tell they didn't have southern acents like his own, so he must be more north than he had thought. But he had no idea where exactly he was. Even though he was on the interstate the signs were in desprate need of repair, if they were even still up.
"Exit 112 to...where damnit?" Vincent said, frustrated, as he clicked off the radio. "The devil knows where...cause there is no God anymore..."
Up ahead was a bridge, and at the far end there was a pile up, a bad one. There were ceratin to be bodies, unless the zombies had picked this place over already. but what botheres Vincent was that he wouldn't be able to drive past it. He supposed he could turn around, take a different exit or something, but he liked this direction. He felt that maybe there was something waiting for him this way. And so he pulled over, grabbed his things, as well as the shovel from the back of the pick up, and headed for the wreckage. Just as he'd suspected, there were zombies.
They came at him at different speeds, the three of them. Two were fresh and fast, two were going slower, but not as slow as the last poor bastard, who had half his face and one arm missing. Vincent smiled as the first two approched, looking like siblings to him. with the first swing he took a head off, and the body fell to the ground, twitching for only a second. He had to do a 360 to catch the other of the pairm and as he did the shovel went half way into her chest. Leaving it there Vincent drew his revolver and fired one shot, right between the eyes. Turning away as the body fell at his feet he fired three more shots, putting them all out of their misery.
Once this was done he opened up his suitcase, reloaded his revolver, and calmly began to change out of his now blood soaked shirt.

if a city comes along and we enter it, i'll add a location to the Places for it, or if you guys just want me to add other Places I can. any ideas are welcome, and the plot is pretty opened, although my guy plays a key role in future events involving the infection and virus
