Princess Anastasia slipped on her royal purple gown, and hurried as she heard her father calling for her. The carriages were out waiting at the bottom of the steps of their castle, and the doors were opened as she and her father, King Edward, climbed in, and rode off to a new kingdom, that King Edward hoped would take his daughter's hand, in exchange for some publicity, and land.

Her purple gown fitted her nicely, and made her look curvy. She had on a white robe over it, and wore her princess tiara she's had since she was born. It was really the only thing she had that reminded her of her mother. Her father vowed to never take a new Queen, unless the Kingdom he ruled would fail. He truly loved her mother, Queen Annie. They'd been arranged to marry as Anastasia was.

She's known about this deal, for about a week, and she's finally coming to terms with it. She doesn't like the idea of living with a man she is supposed to marry, and doesn't even know. Maybe he'll be... her Prince Charming?

Lamont paces the confines of his study. Why would his father agree to a betrothal between him and a nobody princess of some small, forgotten kingdom? Yes, the princess was said to be beautiful. But... The betrothal contract had much in it for Argerturia, and not much for Baillika. They would gain another ally, true, but what use was such a tiny kingdom?

Shaking his head firmly, Lamont smoothed down his red satin tunic, brushing off any specks of dog hair that could possibly be left from his time in the kennels that morning. No use worrying about what was already done - he could only hope that the princess, no, Princess Anastasia wasn't a harpy in disguise.

Just then, the man-servant knocked on his door. "Prince Lamont? Your father requests your presence in the foyer of the castle. The Princesss' carriage has been spotted by the sentries."

Lamont opened the door. "Thank you. Tell my father I will be right there."

"As you wish."

And with that, Lamont followed behind the man-servant at a leisurely, almost lazy pace. He was in no hurry to ruin the rest of his life, after all.

King Edward and Princess Anastasia soon arrived, and were escorted by a servant to the royal foyer. She looked around, the castle here was so much bigger than what she lived in at home.

Immediately, when her father saw the King, he bowed, and she followed. He greeted his friend with a hearty smile. "Ah, my friend, you look as if you aren't a day over the crowning."

Anastasia spotted a young man, arrive in the foyer at a leisurely pace, as if there was all the time in the world. She watched him for only a minute before being dragged up to the King by her father. "This is Anastasia, my daughter." He said, and she bowed before the King whom she'd never heard of.

As he straggled in, Lamont rolled his eyes at the other kings' greeting. Yes, his father did look older, much older. He had seen paintings.

His father grinned, and replied. "And neither do you, my friend."

Lamont winced a little in sympathy, however as the Princess was dragged around. His father did that to him t..."Father!" he yelped, as the King grabbed his ear and pulled him out of the doorway.

"And this is my son, Lamont. Shall we leave them to get acquainted? My son can show your daughter to the set of rooms we have set aside for your use while we are here."

Lamont rubbed his ear, not bothering to be subtle about it, before looking at the girl. He did have to admit, the tales didn't do her beauty justice. But that wasn't anything to base a marriage on. After all, look at his parents. Theirs' had been an arranged affair as well, and he was the only good thing to come out of it. "Well, Princess? Shall we be off, and leave these two doddering old fools to gossip?"

"Well, Princess? Shall we be off, and leave these two doddering old fools to gossip?"

Anastasia simply nodded, after exchanging glances with her Father. She watched the old men talk about the good ol' days, and King things, before looking at her future husband. She had to admit, that he wasn't nearly as handsome as her maidens had said he would be. She nodded to the man, looking over him. His red tunic seemed a bit over-dressed, but she didn't mind too much. She liked well-dressed men.

"Where are we going?" She asked as they walked from their Fathers.

"Wherever you would like, Princess." Lamont commented, before added. "Perhaps to your rooms as my father suggested? Surely you are weary from travel and would like to tidy up a bit."

Lamont started off in that direction automatically, without waiting for an answer, or to see if she would follow. Any of the female nobles he knew would jump at the chance for a bath and a nap after travel. And surely she wasn't any different. Perhaps if he dropped her off in her rooms, he could go out riding before supper.

"Well, Prince, I was hoping you could at least tell me your name, since surely you know mine." She followed him, curiously, looking at paintings or out the windows as they passed by them.

She wasn't one to jump into bed after a long travel, for it was a new place that she needed to learn, and new people to meet. Anastasia looked at the Prince, in the eyes as he stopped outside her door. "Surely, you have a name, sir." She smiled, and felt comfortable around him.

Lamont blinked. Hadn't she listened? And surely she had know his name when she first learned of the betrothal. He ran his hands through his brown hair almost absent-mindedly. "I didn't realize I had leave to call you by your name, but if you insist, mine is Lamont, Anastasia."

He then gestured to the door. "Here are your rooms, but..." he paused. He was bored. His friends were away from the castle, learning about their fathers' estates. He doubted she would be much entertainment, most likely wishing to see the solar, or the gardens, or perhaps the stillroom, if she was adventurous, but... "Is there anywhere else you would like to see, before supper?"

Princess Anastasia sighed, "Lamont? " she rubbed her chin as if she were thinking. "No, thank you, I suppose I am exhausted from the long journey. Perhaps you can fetch me before dinner, Prince?" She giggled, and opened her door slowly walking inside.

"As you wish!" he called through the closed door.

Then he sighed. Thinking. He had been planning on going to ride a bit before supper. But... He should go play polite prince. Play enthused prince. But he wasn't. Not really. He despised giggly girls. Yes, she had only giggled once. But a giggle was a giggle.

Shaking his head, he turned on his heel. He had a good hour before supper. He would perhaps smell of horse and sweat during supper, but it couldn't be helped. If needed, he could always explain it away as his steed needing exercise.

"Lamont!" Anastasia called out as she came out of her room shutting the door quickly. "I think this room may be in use.." She was a bright red, with her facial expression as shocked, and her hands still clutched to the door handles. "Maybe there's another place I can stay?

Inside the room there were two servants, a guard and a maid all "getting it on". Perhaps they didn't know it was a royal guest room? Anastasia laughed mentally.

He turned back around, at the sound of his name, then paused at the princess's comment, to hide what would be a rude laugh at her expression. It was all too obvious what she had walked into. In use? Well, servants would were human. All too human."Well, Anastasia. At least you know the rooms are fairly well sound-proofed, now? You should sleep soundly." then he held out his arm. "My apologies, princess. That was uncalled for. Shall we try another room? There are none made up, but I am sure we can find a servant someplace."

Okay, so he wouldn't be going riding at this rate.

"Can't I just go riding with you? I'm sure you have an extra horse somewhere, and I can change into my riding dress. It's not like we have anything better to do." She smiled sweetly, and looked at him as she accepted his arm. Slowly walking with him.

"Very well." he agreed. "How well can you ride?"

He then dropped her arm and backed away for a second to look her up-and-down, before placing her arm back on his. "And can you ride astride? I'm not sure where any the side-saddles are kept."

"I competed In national this past competition season. So, the question is.. How well can you ride?" She smiled, loving how she kind of turned it on him. "Oh, I ride astride a few times. Ill be fine." She chuckled , before adding as she retook his arm. "I've rode some I was no higher than my knee now. " feeling accomplished, she had a nice smile.

He grinned. "I rode before I could walk, growing up." then, added teasingly, "I think I can manage myself."

Lamont then frowned, as if in thought. "You can change in my mothers' room, if you'd like. She is... away, on a diplomatic mission. She won't mind." Hmpf. Both an understatement and an over-statement in one sentence. No, she wouldn't care, much as she had never cared about him. And yes, she was away indefinitely. A diplomatic mission, yes, but... One carried out on her back, most likely. He shook his head. No, that was being uncharitable. His mother was quite a talented diplomat in her own right.

OOC: Does this work? Anyways, do you want to do a time skip to them coming into dinner, all flustered and sweaty, and the kings jump to conclusions? Or do you want to play out the ride, and have, oh, a horse spook and throw its' rider? Just a thought.

(Time skip is fine. :D)

Anastasia then got dressed, and rode out the evening with her new fiancΓ©, actually having an alright time. Maybe this wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Soon, they were called in for dinner, and she walked in after him, being escorted. She was a little out of breath from running up to the castle, but smiled as they sat. "Father." She nodded as she sat next to Lamont. Her father eyed her, a small twinkle of relief on his eyes.
