0 · 270 views · located in Isiah

a character in “At The Edge of the World”, as played by Hydrall

Description

Age: In his 40s, he hasn't bothered to keep track.
Height: 6 foot 2 inches without his oversized clogs.
Weight: 380lbs
Race: Teela
Eye Colour: A dark brown.
Hair:
â€ĸ Colour: Originally brown.
â€ĸ Length: He's bald.
â€ĸ Style: The style of bald.
â€ĸ Worn: Bald.
Skin colour: Dark.
Shape of Face: Round.
Teela Markings: Orange spirals on his stomach, a blue line down the outside of each arm, and a purple splot over his right eye.
Other distinguishing features: He's utterly enormous, both vertically and horizontally.
How does he/she dress? He usually wears his cook's apron (hardened by fire and various spilled things to the point of near bulletproofing, or so he claims) at all times, with a normal tunic and leggings underneath.
Health: As healthy as someone that overweight can be.
Disabilities: He is a vehicle built for a speed slightly faster than a duck's waddle, with roughly the same body motion.

Personality

Mannerisms: Rather loud and about as subtle as a freight train full of elephants in heat. An open, honest man without a speck of guile in his heart- even good-natured pranks worry him. Not exactly a brave man, but not a total coward- He's more of a nervous one.
Relationship skills: Good at making friends, probably due to the pressure.
Habits: He wrings his apron when under stress or being interrogated.
Hobbies: Besides cooking
Favorite Sayings: "Ah, you must eat!" "I am but a simple cook, yet..."
Speech patterns: He speaks with an accent, but if this is his second language he doesn't show it. He tends to be careful not to offend and verbal backtracking is common.
Style (Elegant, shabby etc.): Definitely more on the shabby side.
Educational Background: He went to the Academical Guild for the necessary few years, but other than that he is not especially learned.

Any Mental Illnesses? Nope.
Character's short-term goals in life: To become a great cook and impress the world. How he will impress the world on a ship so far away from the planet may be a difficult problem.
Character's long-term goals in life: To make enough money to buy himself a house where he cannot see the sea.
How does Character see himself/herself? As not nearly as large as he is.
How does Character believe he/she is perceived by others? He tries not to think about that, but generally assumes no one notices him.
How self-confident is the character? Not very confident at all, but he hides it behind a veil of bravado.
Does the character seem ruled by emotion or logic or some combination thereof? Emotion, mostly.
What would most embarrass this character? Being informed of a mistake or impolite action that he didn't notice.

Introvert or Extrovert? Extrovert, slightly.
How does the character deal with anger? Laughter. He laughs and laughs until he stops being mad, because as big as he is he might hurt someone.
With sadness? Sitting around and cooking pointless meals
With conflict? Trying to stop it by joking and keeping the conflicting parties apart. When there's no other choice, he usually leaves to try and avoid being caught in it.
With change? Change worries him, because he's not sure how to deal with it, being used to seeing the same sights every day.
With loss? Hiding himself in his kitchen.
What does the character want out of life? To become a great cook and to leave the sea behind.
What would the character like to change in his/her life? Little.
What motivates this character? Technically, greed. But also hunger.
What frightens this character? Being alone, especially if he's the one who made himself alone. Also the sea, hence his desire to be as far away as possible.
What makes this character happy? People working together, getting along, and eating his food.
Is the character judgmental of others? No, because that might invite judgement on himself.
Is the character generous or stingy? Generous with his food.
Is the character generally polite or rude? He tries to be polite, but a lifetime as a ship's cook can make one have some unfortunate mannerisms.

What are the character's spiritual beliefs? He is a follower of Ciel, like many sailors.
Is religion or spirituality a part of this character's life? Not a major part.
If so, what role does it play? He prays to Ciel before a journey, hoping that He will watch over their ship.

Equipment

He has his cooking supplies- Pots, pans, ladles, spoons, knives, cleavers, mallets, and all the things needed to make either five-star meals or bearable hardtack.

History

Socioeconomic Level (child): He was poor and on the streets, then poor and a cook's assistant on a boat.
Socioeconomic Level (adult): He is famed for his culinary skills, to the point of being requested to join the crew of the Erythoril-ship.
Occupation: Ship's Cook, high class.
Income: Medium. He's still just a ship's cook.
Talents/Skills: He is skilled with the arts of procuring, preparing, and presenting food, as well as eating it. However, he's also good at making food last far longer than it seems like it should.
Birth order:
Parents: Unknown father, mother was a tavern whore who drowned in the bay while Daller was still young.
Siblings: None that he knew of.
Spouse: Never married.
Children: None.
Significant Others: None who really matter.
Biography: Born the child of a ship's captain and his woman in a port who threw herself to the waves for unknown reasons, Daller lived on the streets for much of his childhood before stowing away on a passing ship. Luck was with him, and the cook, a man named Liopond, needed an assistant. Over time the boy showed remarkable talent for the culinary arts, and eventually was sent off to the Academy for training as an official cook of Isha.

Despite having willingly fled to it, he feared the sea more than anything, as it represented a vast emptiness to the boy. His dream, over time, became a desire to leave it behind- To make enough money to live somewhere where he could not see the waters. On a planet covered in it, this could be problematic and, some might say, impossible. Now an adult with many years of sea travel behind him, he's closer to realizing that dream than he thinks, as his skill in the kitchens brought him to the crew of the new ship and, presumably soon, to the edge of the world and off it.

So begins...
