Shit. Caught. What could she do not? She flinched at the sound of the register slamming shut, her heart beating faster as her palms grew moist, and she tried wiping them nonchalantly on her pants, though the gesture would likely not go unnoticed in the crowded diner. The astute eye might have also noticed that in the entire time, Lisa had not once made eye contact. This she wasn't too aware of, but she knew she had to salvage the situation. Pretend like it hadn't happened.

"I'm not lying," she said defensively, fingers flicking against her thigh. "I do live in Montreal. But, uh, my family came from, uh, yeah. Israel." She smiled, cringing as she did so, knowing Feliyn could probably see right through the lies. What was the cover story? Montreal. Yeah? Javid put too many details in the dossiers, and she simply couldn't keep them straight. Lying was too stressful, but when one was a member of what the Enemy dubbed a "terrorist organization", they became necessary for the sake of the cause.

Lisa flushed, blinking rapidly. She looked down at the counter. "I'm not lying," she mumbled, not very convincingly, as her gaze slid back over to Leah, glaring at the British teenager and her cell phone. "You little ghabiya, will you quit that tapping?!" she hissed, quite unable to take it anymore. The tapping combined with being caught in Javid's lies was too much.

Lisa Karim jerked away from Feliyn, flinching with the gesture at being touched unexpectedly by a stranger. With widened eyes she stumbled back a step. "I'm not - I'm not hiding anything, Allah s'aahid," she stammered out, stumbling a bit over the words, before turning to the teenager in silence for a moment before she spoke again. "N-nothing. Nothing. I just - I - the - the - I can't stand the tapping." Lisa pointed to the girl's phone.

"Um, nothing." Lisa said, looking down. "Just - forget I said anything." She shoved both hands in her pockets, suddenly conscious of her stimming. She looked over at Ana when the other woman had spoken, silent for a moment before responding. "I - I wasn't lying," she insisted, her gaze avoidance, high pitch and stammering telling another story altogether. Another one of her downfalls - once she held on to something, she just couldn't let it go, couldn't back down. Lisa didn't know how to laugh at herself.

Lisa Karim was definitely not American.

"It's Lisa," she answered automatically. At least that lie was one she had down pat, thank god. She took the pot pie, setting it in front of her as she dug in with a fork, taking small bites, careful. She'd been living in America and Europe for the better part of the last eleven years, and she'd grown accustomed to Western cuisine. In some ways, she didn't miss her uncle's awful attempts at cooking. But sometimes, she felt a craving for her aunt's kebab. She didn't find too many Middle Eastern eateries around, and the few she did find? None could hold a candle to her aunt's cooking.

She perched herself on a stool at the counter as she ate, laying her fork against the side of the pot pie between bites, chewing thoughtfully. "It's good," she commented, trying to fill the silence. Compliments were usually good, Lisa thought.

She didn't speak for a long while, occupied with spooning the pot pie into her mouth, savoring the intricacies of its distinctly American flavoring. That, and debating whether or not to check her phone. In the end, technology won out, and she slipped her Blackberry from her pocket, scrolling through a few messages, before she put it away, resuming her meal, piece by piece. When she spoke again, she turned her face slightly, towards Feliyn's general direction. "01001100011010010111001101100001," Lisa recited, mostly to the wall, though loudly enough for Feliyn and Ana to hear.

Lisa set down her fork and beamed. "That's my name in binary code," she said, swiveling to face Ana and Feliyn, resting her hands palms down over her knees. "If you tell me yours, I can tell you what it is in binary too!" And this time, her smile was genuine, unlike her very clearly fake smiles when failing at lying.

For a woman who spent most of her waking hours plotting the best ways to murder thousands of people most violently, her unshakeable interest in coding and programming was almost incongruent. In another view, they weren't really all that mutually exclusive. Programmers were notorious for spending their time interacting with inhuman machines, and her ability to separate her emotions from the reality of what she did made her a useful asset indeed.

"010001100110010101101100011010010111100101101110," Lisa recited proudly, speaking slowly enough so that Feliyn could hear each individual enunciation. "That's Feliyn. And Ana, that's 010000010110111001100001." She cocked her head to the side. "Personally, I find binary much easier to understand than either English or Ar - " she cut herself off. "Never mind." Lisa flushed again, turning back to her pot pie, resuming eating at the same deliberate pace, hunched over her food.

Lisa Karim continued eating in silence. She could in fact hear Feliyn speaking, though she couldn't make out the words unless she really concentrated, and she wasn't really in the mood to try just then. It was one of the upsides/downsides of her condition, to have far better than average hearing. Sometimes it meant she could hear conversations from down the hall. And sometimes it meant she couldn't tune out the incessant sound of an air filtration system.

That's when her Blackberry rang, a loud, shrill ringing, buzzing in her pocket. She jumped ten feet, her fork falling from her hand onto the remnants of her pot pie, splattering food on her shirt. "Khara!" she spat, not too subtly. Running a hand over her shirt, she answered with the other. "Ah - hello?" There was a pause, and then, "No, no, our bus broke down." Another pause. "I'm fine, really, I'm fine." She paused again. "Allah s'aahid, I said I'm fine." Another pause. "I know, I know." She picked up her fork. "I will. I like it here. It's a nice town." She looked down at her shirt, crinkling her nose in disgust. "Okay. Bye." She disconnected, laying her Blackberry next to her plate as she sighed. "Khara, khara."

Lisa stared past Feliyn as the woman walked by, unable to hide the confusion on her face. It was a look she wore often, mostly because it was genuine. She let her hand cover her Blackberry, the other one drumming silently on her thigh as she watched the door to the kitchen. What had she gotten herself into here? It seemed everywhere she turned, she did something to expose herself further. Lying was not good for her. She wasn't meant for it.

Lisa jumped at the sound of the crash, oblivious to Ana, leaping off of the stool as she rushed for the kitchens, shoving past the other woman, throwing the door open to find Feliyn lying there, unmoving. "Ya Allah," she breathed, bending over the other woman, resting her hand on her shoulder as she checked for a pulse with the fingers of her other hand against her neck. "Wake up, wake up." She turned over her shoulder toward Ana. "Call 911! Khara. Just what we need right now." Lisa looked back down at Feliyn. She tugged at her shoulder. "Are you all right?!" If she didn't move, Lisa would have to - oh god. CPR.

Lisa took Feliyn's head under her arm, lowering her body gently to the floor, to keep it all level. She wasn't a doctor, or a nurse, or, hell, even trained properly on emergency medicine. But she thought she knew what to do. She tugged at the woman's shoulder again. "Feliyn," she said. "Feliyn!" Lisa bent down, ear to the woman's chest. There was a heartbeat. No response though. "Khara." She placed both hands on her chest, beginning CPR. Compressions and breaths. Simple, right?

Lisa staggered back a step before recovering her balance. She reached out to Feliyn, helping her sit up, supporting the other woman's weight on her arm, even as she resisted the urge to flinch away from the blood. "Are - are you all - all right? You - you - you were unconscious," she stammered, stumbling over her words, her English taking on a bit of a noticeable accent here, now that she was sufficiently distracted from hiding it.

"Sherlock?" Lisa asked, frowning. "I thought Sherlock Holmes was a fictitious character?" She looked over at Ana. "Are they sending medical personnel? She could probably use a once-over." Lisa looked back to Feliyn. "Are you sure you're going to be all right? You're, um, you're bleeding a lot."

"Her name is Feliyn, and she fell, and she was unconscious for a few minutes, bleeding profusely from the cranial area," Lisa promptly answered, indicating Feliyn without much thought. She looked up at the cop. It was the same one she'd seen the other day at the Auto Shop. She swallowed involuntarily, hoping he wouldn't recognize her as the woman who had been sneaking away.

Lisa Karim flushed. "Sorry," she mumbled, also rising to a standing position, beside Feliyn, as she looked over to Ana. "I was just trying to help." She wanted to leave as soon as possible; cops always made her uncomfortable, probably because they spent their time tracking down people like her. Murderers and terrorists. She might not have been your typical cold-hearted killer, but Lisa was by no means a hands-clean accomplice. And law enforcement was not a friend of her organization.

Seeing no response, Lisa mumbled an inaudible apology, excusing herself as she slipped out of the kitchen, past the cop, hoping to make a speedy return to her motel room, before the cop had an idea who she was. Feliyn had already given the man her name, or, her alias, and it would only be a matter of time before someone asked for a last name. Or any name at all. And used it to track her down.
