A Cursed Dreamer
1. An individual who has either melded with the past, or had an ancestor meddle with the past, resulting in them and all their predecessors to be cursed until the end of time.
Or until the curse is broken.
Once upon a time, many years ago, certain people meddled with the strings of time. For whatever reason these individuals decided that it was in their place and power to change the past or the future, and for a time it worked, however the changes that man made did not go without consequence. As more and more events were altered, changes followed like ripple effects. People were never born, or some were killed before their time. This era was a dark and dank one, the waves of time unraveled.
The Fates; three old woman who hold the strings of life, realized what these men were doing and decided to put a stop to it, but not before warning them of how their deeds could twist their souls and turn them evil, how it could corrupt their lives and their destiny's. This warning was ignored, and so The Fates wove a curse so sinister there was no hope of escape.
A Dreamer's Curse.
They have been cursed to live in the world of their own dreams until a descendant can break the spell, cursed to try and distinguish the difference between reality and dreams until someone can redeem their souls.
This curse has carried on through the years, never broken, never relenting, and now it has been passed on to you.
The life of a cursed Dreamer is very complected. Each group of new Dreamer's are sent into a new book every year, and the book always challenges their weakest traits. That is the point of the Curse; to take and twist everything you know and believe it. It will literally flip your life upside down, times and dates between the two worlds will mix together, and soon you'll have to pick one over the other.
This curse was developed as a punishment. It doesn't matter if the Dreamer has read the book they are sentenced to a hundred times in reality, once they are in the Underland memories will become blotched and faded until they return to reality.
When the Curse first activates, it is as if the Dreamer falls down a rabbit hole, and when they come to on the other side, they are in Underland. Usually, the last Dreamer before them has left a letter of some kind in Underland, explaining what happened, and after they've read the letter, they will wake up once more. Surprisingly, the Curse gives them that day to get their thoughts on track, and then, when they fall asleep, it begins.
The Dreamer starts off in the in between place, and from there they will talk with their ancestors until they are ready to move on to their door, where their journey begins. Dreamers learn that, while they can die in the real world, you do not die in your dream world until you are killed there. and even then, they do not leave the in between place until the curse has ended. However, things are different this time, the curse is presenting a group of Dreamers a chance at freedom if they destroy one of their evil ancestors, and save not only the future, but the past.
Will they be strong enough to save everything and redeem their bloodlines, or will it all be for nougat. A great evil is stirring, and they've all been thrown into the same book, something that has been unheard of.
Welcome to a Dreamer's curse, we all have the potential to turn evil, it just depends on how we interact with the curse.
