Personality:
In a lot of ways, Cara is your stereotypical rich girl. She has always been ignorant to a lot of the problems that "normal" people face, and a lot of the time, comes across as being arrogant, ignorant, dismissive and entitled without even meaning it. She has a tendency to think that her normal is the same normal as everyone else, so complaining about how unworthy this building is of having her as a resident, when her co-residents can barely afford rent doesn't always make her look great. She's definitely materialistic, and loves having the newest and nicest of everything, but while she doesn't realize it sometimes, she is changing for the better, as of lately. For most of her life, she was only friends with people who were exactly like her in appearance, financial status, and background. Being tossed into a building with more diversity in those aspects has done good for her outlook on the world and her knowledge of how the real world works. While her disposition certainly reflects her background, it is important to note that Cara is open to change. She wants to grow, but as everyone can guess, something as significant as changing the way you've acted for over two decades, isn't something that will happen overnight.

She wants to be compassionate and down-to-earth, and genuinely tries to relate to people's problems and offer advice, but she takes a little longer getting there because a lot of the problems that she has are so different than those of the people she lives with. It's hard for her to shake herself free from the mindset that she is better than these people. What might come off as her being arrogant or out of touch with reality is simply her not living in the same reality as the others. She really tries to understand where they're coming from and does have a lot of sympathy for them, but just as much as she wants to offer that support, she doesn't. It wouldn't mean anything for her to give her input when she doesn't fully understand their situation and her opinions don't hold any weight. Because of this, Cara tries to keep to herself. She definitely doesn't isolate herself and enjoys conversing with the others, but she doesn't throw herself onto people and wouldn't be described as an open book. By the others, she would probably be described as being positive and easy to talk to, but not overbearing or extremely friendly, because she doesn't consider anyone else in the building to be a real friend. On the surface level, this may seem innocent, and reflect what she thinks it is - her knowing her place, and assuming that since she's the odd one out in this building, that no one really wants to be friends with her. However, it would be a lie to say that part of it doesn't reflect her thinking that she's a bit above most of the other residents here. She has friends, sure, but it's taken some time to make them.

Those who do know what Cara is truly like, usually have to accept, or at least put up with, her negative character traits, in order to enjoy the good ones. She's generous, enthusiastic, energetic, and sociable with people she trusts. She's very much a girly girl, and adores pampering herself and taking "me" time. Something that she definitely struggles with is accepting adulthood, and the responsibilities that come with it. It might tie into her upbringing, but in more ways than just that, Cara is still in an irresponsible and reckless teenager state of mind. She rarely takes account for her actions, struggles with accepting that she's wrong or having to apologize for anything, or thinking about her future in the way that a twenty three year old should be.

Likes:
Parties, vanilla scented things, the gym, iced coffee, babies, alcohol, fruity drinks, dancing, shopping, spas, warmth

Dislikes:
Cold weather, being out at night (if she's sober), beef jerky, her father, her stepmother, terrorism, beer, rodents, insects

Fears:
Terrorism, being cut off from her father's money (the only link she has to her "real world"), being infertile, STDs

Background:
Caraline was born into a life of wealth and privilege led by her parents, Lauren and William Forrester. She grew up with a younger brother, Ryan, in the Upper East Side of New York, essentially taking on an embodiment of a silver spoon life. The preschool she attended cost more than some colleges do, and she went to the same private K-12 school as the children of billionaires, politicians and actors and musicians.

Her mother was one of the 2,606 victims of the World Trade Center attack in 2001. Cara was only a child at the time, and while not old enough to fully grasp the idea that her mother had perished in an unthinkable way, she knew that her mother was dead. She had been close with her mother, who had opted to raise her rather than follow the Upper East side norm of hiring a live-in nanny to deal with the 3 AM feedings and crying fests. It was only when Cara was old enough to start school that her mother resumed her top position at the law firm her father (Cara's grandfather) owned, and even then, for the short amount of time that she was working, she still made time for her daughter and son. The same couldn't be said for William, who, when he wasn't spending time at the investment firm he was the CEO of, or cashing in on the mass amount of shares from the technology company that his late father had passed down to him, was having affairs. He was doing so before his wife passed away, so needless to say, once she was gone, he moved on fairly quickly. Cara moved on from her mother's death as well. It was a tragic event, but she never felt responsible for it, it didn't cause her lifelong depression or ruin her chance at a normal life. It sucked, and no amount of nannies could ever replace her mother's devotion, but Cara was young enough where it became normal to live without her mother.

She doesn't realize it, but it did have a bit of an effect on her as she grew up. Not only did she lack her real mother, but when she turned seventeen, her father started dating their au pair, Alice. At this time, she had been living nanny-free for nearly three years, so her father suddenly hiring a twenty-one-year-old Swedish woman to care for her and her brother was absolutely strange and illogical. Sure, Cara had become a tad bit rebellious. She was out nearly every night partying underage with her friends, but her father wasn't around to parent her ever before, and she was used to disregarding his authority. Regardless, she didn't need someone only four years her senior babysitting her, and soon it became apparent that Alice wasn't there for Cara or her brother. Six months after moving in, William proposed to her. To say that Cara was caught off guard is an understatement. She had seen her father go through pretty, young girls on a monthly basis, but none of them, especially not one who came from nothing, ever lasted. And yet, suddenly, he was marrying this one. Maybe it was because she was so young, or maybe it was because Cara really wasn't okay with the idea of her mother being replaced, but either way, she had it out for this woman, and in an attempt to run her out, made the possibility of the four of them living peacefully together impossible.

Cara was spoiled and used to getting her way, and as a last ditch effort, refused to apply to any colleges unless her father kicked Alice out. It was the seventeen-year-old version of holding her breath until her face turned blue if her parents refused to buy her the doll she wanted. Unlike that, though, this didn't work. Her father told her to go to school or get a job, because he wasn't going to let her rack up thousands of dollars on his credit cards, party all night, be disrespectful, and not try to advance her life. Although she was an average student in high school, she hated the idea of spending another four years in school, so after graduating, she agreed to get a job. The job, however, was just being a promoter at a nightclub, which meant that all she had to do was bring pretty girls to party with her, to make the club attract more men, and in turn, make money. She got away with doing this for two years, while telling her father that she was working as a "salesperson" for some made up entertainment company, before he realized that she was lying. She had been living in her own nice apartment in Tribeca at the time, and once the lease on that was up, her father refused to pay for it again. Finally, she agreed to start college, but after being overwhelmed during her first semester at NYU, she insisted that she only go part time. Her father obliged with the request, and paid for a lease on a three bedroom apartment in the area, under the condition that she share it with her younger brother, who happened to also start NYU around that time.

Holly was ready to explain that Roman reminded her of Peter Pan because in the movie, the kids that Peter Pan brought to Neverland had English accents, and he really reminded her of one of the Darling boys, but she couldn't remember their name so he would have the honor of being like Peter Pan instead, until she could remember the name of the actual boy she thought he was more like. She was also about to inform him and Brooklyn that Roman was absolutely nothing like Grumpy, because he did not have a white beard, and that he was only most like Dopey because Dopey was the only one without a beard, and rather than just choose a different character to associate Roman with, somehow the not-having-a-beard thing stuck with her enough to award him the title of Dopey's doppelgänger. She couldn't though, and it wasn't because Cara calling out to her distracted her enough. It did for a second, but what really made her stop her initial train of thought was Roman thinking that Stinky was the name of one of the dwarfs. Holly's face scrunched up into one of initial confusion, as if she wasn't sure if he was serious or not, before it changed into one that was a bit critical. "No, there isn't one named that!" she corrected him, deciding against the possibility that he was just kidding. "There's Bashful, Doc, Grumpy, Sleepy, Dopey, Happy and Sneezy! And if Cara was going to be any Disney character, she wouldn't one of of the dwarfs!" Holly insisted, going more enthusiastic then. It probably would have made the most sense for her to associate Cara with one of the princesses. Maybe Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty or Rapunzel for having blonde hair, or Ariel for having a lot of expensive and cool things. That wasn't how Holly's head worked, though. "She would be Nemo because her mom is dead!" she concluded, with a level of excitement that was the clearest representation of how she just didn't comprehend social boundaries like normal people did.

"And Chanel, you would be Joy from 'Inside Out'!" she said, abandoning Roman and Brooklyn now that she felt like that conversation was through, as she neared Chanel, Cara and Collin. She was excited, though then again, when was she not? "I hope you're wearing sunscreen, Chanel, because I'll have to tell your mom that you're not when I talk to her because that's how you get cancer!" she said informatively on her way out, as she noticed the exposed mid-drift that both she and Cara were sporting.

Chanel smiled between the two siblings, her grin growing wider at Cara's face towards Collin. While she disagreed with most of what Cara said, about her not having a grudge since her tone and passive-aggressive description suggested otherwise, she could get behind the smoothly inserted compliment and itinerary (that involved drinking). She, too, turned to Holly, who of course commanded attention in her own right, but only momentarily. While Cara was still peeved with her brother, and understandably, she would still try to remain cordial, if at least to keep tensions at bay. "I remember going to The Haunted Mansion when I was, like, six and me and my brothers were in tears by the end of it. I was literally traumatized." She laughed, recounting how ridiculous they must have looked. She had been to Disney again since then, but the childhood fear was so severe that she still wasn't keen on going in, even though she knew it couldn't be as horrifying to a twenty-something like it was to a small child. Roman's voice interrupted her before she could say anything more, but she only rolled her eyes at his intentional mocking, although she was now distracted enough to hear their conversation, even as she continued speaking to Collin. "We'll overcome our fear together while we're here," she began, beginning to face Holly and the others so that she could tell Holly to come as well since Roman and Brooke were instigating. "But I don't know about the Tower of--" she started, before stopping mid-sentence at Holly's exclamation.

Chanel's attention was fully on the others. Roman sputtered, his jaw dropped and looking as shocked as Chanel felt, but that didn't stop Chanel from being annoyed with either of them. She was still taken aback when Holly made her way towards she and Collin, innocently continuing without realizing the impact of her words. Chanel glanced back at Cara before looking to Holly again. She tried her best to play it off, but anything about someone's dead mom was a bit hard to recover from. Chanel stuttered for a second, nodding distractingly as she tried to gather herself. Luckily, Makayla appeared, grabbing the girl by the arm. "I need to talk to her for a few minutes. We'll catch up with you all in a few minutes." Chanel nodded quickly, understanding that that they needed to leave now. "Yep," she finally said. "You got it." When everyone was outside the apartment, Roman and Brooklyn included, Chanel fed both of them a dirty look. Even though they didn't force Holly to say something so uncalled for, like the child Holly was mentally, the girl could only be held accountable for so much. Just moments ago, Chanel had been the one to tell Cara to play nice, but now she was very close from turning against her own advice. While some could consider her relationship with Cara shallow, since the two girls didn't even know the worst parts about each other, Chanel still cared about Cara enough to get protective and downright angry when she felt the girl was wronged the way she just was. She knew Cara could stir the pot, and quite frankly just be mean, but dead moms were off limits by all standards, and with her friend being involved, she was more even more defensive. It took a special bone in her to not completely tell them off, only because she did want this to be a peaceful trip, even though things were already going left, but still, she managed to settle for a tense exhale and a tight smile. "Off to a great start, aren't we?"

Brooklyn and Roman had irked Cara even more than Collin did, because while she might have been able to be the bigger person and brush off Brooklyn coercing Holly into conversing when she wanted her out, as a harmless act, Roman's words reminded her that it was going to be impossible to act civil towards the two of them. Cara had half the mind to tell Chanel that the two of them needed to just leave, and they could catch up with everyone else (Holly and Makayla included) later on, but then Holly took the conversation with Brooklyn and Roman to something innocent and slightly amusing, to something that seemed to somber up the mood for everyone else. Makayla was on the scene only a few seconds too late; something that the girl was clearly aware of in the way that she made it clear that she wanted everyone else out so she could address the comment that she must have overheard. While Cara felt the need to tell Makayla that there was no harm done, she also didn't want to overstep her boundaries. She wanted this trip to be fun, but she also recognized that just because she didn't get offended by Holly's words didn't mean that some other time in the future, Holly wouldn't say something of equal shock value to someone else and receive a drastically different response. Holly was a sweet girl, with innocent being the best way to describe her, and though Cara was well aware of how she meant no harm, she also figured that it wasn't her place to keep Makayla from trying to teach her better.

Once she was outside, Chanel's sarcastic remark received a more relaxed and natural one from Cara as she slowly walked towards the stairwell, rather than the elevator. She didn't need to be trapped in a confined space with Brooklyn, Roman, or her brother, because while she didn't feel bothered right now, having to be so close to them for even a few seconds had the possibility of changing that. "She deserves points for creativity," Cara smiled, hoping to signal that her mood wasn't ruined. At least not because of Holly. The things that came out of Holly's mouth in general were never taken as seriously as they would be coming from anyone else. Had Brooklyn or Roman, or anyone else for that matter, made a comment about her mother being dead, Cara would have easily taken offense to it, and understandably so, but Cara knew Holly. She knew her better than most people, simply because of how frequently she hung out with her, so this wasn't the first time that she had brought up her mom. It was obviously a callous approach to the subject, but Cara knew well enough to know that Holly didn't think of the implications of the things that she said. In her mind, the comparison really was as innocent as Nemo's mother in the film being dead, and Cara's mother in real life being dead. It was factual, and the emotional ties that came with it didn't even register to Holly. The fact that Cara knew just enough to know that Holly had a non-traditional relationship with her own mother lent itself to the cause too. Cara didn't know too much about the way that Holly and Makayla were raised, but Holly had mentioned numerous times that her mother and Makayla's father were incarcerated. Having a mother who was dead, and having a mother who was in jail were still two totally different things, but it still spoke to how Holly probably didn't have a perfect enough vision of what a mother was supposed to be like to really grasp how tragic it could be to lose a mom. In addition to all of that, the fact of the matter was that Cara was no longer emotionally tied down to the fact that her mother was dead. Some would probably claim that it was too emotionless to respond in such a way, and that maybe she was burying feelings, but she really wasn't. The way that her mother died was gruesome and horrific, and not having a mother to love and grow up with was sad and unfortunate, but she had come to terms with that long ago. It was no longer an open wound, and being reminded of it didn't really stir any negative emotions in Cara. "I just hope Makayla doesn't actually freak out on her, you know? You live with her, you'd know better than me if I should expect to feel guilty for the rest of the night if the next time I see Holly she has puffy red eyes and tear-stained cheeks," she added, still sporting a small smile. "Do you think we should just start walking there, or wait for them down here?" she continued.

The way that Roman furthered their conversation with Holly was really harmless. Cara probably didn't think so in the moment, but for Roman and Brooklyn, they were both being pretty nice and tolerant. Roman was teasing Cara, but it was in the lightest possible way, so she didn't think that they deserved anything other than a middle finger or eye roll from Cara. The way that Holly responded to it, though, took it from that innocent level to one that made Brooklyn feel indirectly guilty in the snap of a finger. In their defense, neither she nor Roman had even remotely brought up Cara's mother. It was something that was off limits, and that went without saying, even to Brooklyn who could take things far quite often. Anyone would know that that was off-limits, but the exception to that was clearly Holly, and only because she didn't understand that what she said was hurtful. Although Cara didn't necessarily seem bothered by it, it was hard for Brooklyn not to cringe at Holly's phrasing of her Nemo line in itself, but also at the awkward moment of silence that followed before Makayla yanked the redhead back into the apartment and as politely as she could, told the others to get out so she could respond to Holly's comment in private.

The way that Chanel looked at her and Roman once they were all out of the apartment didn't go unnoticed by Brooklyn, but she also didn't feel the need to address it. While Brooklyn did feel guilty for indirectly getting Holly into a situation that wasn't going to leave her happy, she and Roman also didn't say anything that could have led them to expect that Holly would take the conversation in that direction, so she didn't think that anyone could blame them, even if they would blame themselves. Before she could turn to Roman to ask him if that was as unexpected to him as it was to her, Collin was by their side, extending to wristbands in their direction. "Just so I don't forget to give these to you guys, these are those wristbands I was telling you about earlier. They act as room keys, park admittance passes, and you can use them to pay for food and stuff, if you want." Cara and Chanel had already started walking a bit ahead of them, towards the stairs, and since Collin planned on staying with them (at least until Cara kicked him out of that group), he figured that it made sense to make sure Brooklyn and Roman had what they needed to be on their own. After what had just happened, which still had Collin feeling surprised and somewhat awkward, he figured that giving them the tools to split up was more than necessary. "Much appreciated," Brooklyn answered with a raise of her eyebrows as Collin mentioned their payment feature, taking the two MagicBands and slipping one onto her wrist before handing the other to Roman. Collin gave them a bit of space, apparently trying to catch up with his sister and Chanel, which gave Brooklyn a minute to address Roman, finally. "This might actually be the first time that I feel bad for coercing Holly into saying something to piss off Cara," she admitted.

"You know you better fix that face before I have to fix it for you," Makayla said, eyeing Holly during their brisk walk towards the park's entrance gates. There were people all over, something that Makayla knew to expect because this was Disney, after all, but it was also close to a holiday, which meant that more people were taking vacations. She felt stressed out already, and crowds weren't going to help that cause. For some people, it might have seemed easiest for Makayla to just apologize to Cara later on about the "Nemo incident", and to not have waved the others off so she could handle it right there. Her intentions weren't to seem dramatic or disruptive, it was just that Makayla was the only person who could truly and fully understand that there was a time to let the things Holly say slide, and there was a time when not to. If she let Holly say things like that with no repercussions, Makayla would not only feel irresponsible in relation to other people's emotions, but towards Holly as well. It was one of those things that parents always said, about how their kids didn't realize it then, but disciplining them was for their own good in the end. Obviously, with Holly, things were a bit more complicated and difficult. If a kid colored over their bedroom walls with markers, and their parents disciplined them, the child would know that they were wrong for destroying their house. They would understand that that action equated to being punished, and it would serve as a deterrent for them when considering doing it, or something similar, again, because they could process things like that. It took more than that with Holly, though. Makayla was sure that after their alone time in the hotel room, that Holly would never repeat that Cara was like Nemo because both of their mothers were dead. She could comprehend that that specific line would get her into trouble, but Makayla still wasn't convinced that Holly actually understood why it was inappropriate. Even after the physical side of her anger diminished, and she tried to get Holly to explain and acknowledge that she understood why she was wrong, it was clear that the message wasn't getting through. Makayla tried to relate it to her own life, asking Holly if she would appreciate it if people constantly spoke about how her mother was in jail for doing bad things, or how she didn't know who her dad was, but it only served as a reminder that Holly's mind didn't work the same way that other people's did, when she seemingly-honestly said that she wouldn't mind that.

It was sad, but at the same time, it was frustrating for Makayla who couldn't let things like what Holly had said go, without feeling embarrassed, uncomfortable and awkward. Makayla had grown up in a household where corporal punishment existed, but she was never necessarily abused. Maybe nowadays where hitting your child was frowned upon entirely, the way her father treated her as a kid would be seen as abuse, but Makayla didn't think of it that way. If she deserved to be punished, it would happen, and that was it. There was a difference between being punished and being abused, and that difference separated her childhood experiences from Holly's. Between the fact that Makayla wasn't Holly's mother, and that-- that she knew that Holly's relationship with physical punishment was moderated like hers had been, Makayla rarely ever punished Holly that way. She had the patience of a saint with the child, but even she could only remain that way for so long before snapping. She felt bad after doing so, but even with those feelings lingering, she could remind herself that Holly had just potentially made Cara feel like complete and utter shit, and that wasn't right or to be tolerated either. Holly could pout all she wanted to, but Makayla would still remind herself that what she had done was necessary. Even if Holly didn't grasp the bigger picture surrounding the incident, she would know better than to bring up Cara's mother again.

If Cara hadn't texted Makayla exactly where she and the rest of the group were waiting, there was no way that they would have found them, but once they reached the outside of the gift shop, Mickey's of Hollywood, like she was directed to do, Makayla spotted them. "Sorry for keeping you guys waiting. We're good now," Makayla said immediately, though they had only left the hotel room five or ten minutes after the others. It still felt like a bigger burden than it probably was to them.

It did probably speak to how Holly was, in that even after the incident with Makayla regarding what she had said to Cara, Holly was still excited for the day. She was still sniffling and blinking back tears as they neared the park's entrance after a shockingly silent walk to the park, but after Makayla's final warning, Holly told herself over and over again to stop thinking about it. To stop thinking about how Makayla was mean to her for no reason, specifically, because even after all of that and Makayla explaining why what she said was wrong, Holly still didn't really get it. She comprehended to an extent that Cara had to be sad about her mom being dead, but she didn't understand how stating that fact made her the bad person. It wasn't like she was making fun of Cara or trying to joke about it. She just truly saw the two things as being similar in the most basic of ways, and didn't understand that the connotations attached to death were inappropriate in the context in which she shared it in. Even though she had sensed the anger in Makayla's voice the second she yanked her back into the hotel room and the others left, Holly didn't expect her to be that angry. It caught her off guard to say the least, and though she didn't think she deserved that or that it was fair, especially since Cara hadn't seemed upset, she knew better than to argue at this point. In fact, she knew enough to even be careful in how she worded her apology to Cara, since normally it would have went something like "sorry for saying that your mom is dead like Nemo's, even though it's true because his mom and all of his brother and sister eggs got eaten by a fish or a shark-looking thing", but instead, was simply, "Sorry for talking about your mom and making you upset, Cara," once they reunited with the group.

With that off of her chest, and her then feeling like she had followed all of Makayla's requests following the incident, Holly felt like she could finally relax. Or not necessarily relax, since Holly was rarely calm, but instead, focus on what made her happier. And here, there was a lot of that. From the store that they were standing in front of, with ice cold air streaming out of the open doorway, that was almost as enticing as the souvenirs Holly got a small glimpse of from where she stood, to all of the people, and the music, and just the energy in general. They were in Disney! Not even Makayla and her meanness could ruin that.

“You didn’t make me upset, but I appreciate the apology,” Cara said. Had she not been feeling considerate of Makayla’s role and authority over Holly, Cara probably would have insisted that she had no reason to apology. The comment hadn’t bothered her because the topic wasn’t something that she felt sensitively towards. It had made for a bit of awkward silence and tension, but only because everyone else probably thought that Cara was going to react with more emotion (obvious or hidden) than she was. It wasn’t like Cara was a stranger to emotion or even passive aggressiveness, but she was being entirely honest when saying that Holly hadn’t upset her. It just wasn’t that deep, especially when it came from Holly’s mouth. Had she went ahead and told Holly not to apologize, though, Cara was aware that she would be crossing into a weird territory, because it was very apparent that Makayla had been the one to make Holly apologize. As ignorant as it probably sounded, it didn’t even cross Cara’s mind that Holly’s flushed face and slightly pink eyes could have had anything to do with Makayla hitting her. Cara’s upbringing never involved punishment like that, so from her own experience, she simply figured that Makayla had kept her in the room to yell at her, and probably threaten to send her home if she didn’t calm down. She figured that severe enough threats of that topic could warrant a similar reaction from Holly, and that was the only reason for why she didn’t truly feel bad for Holly. Being yelled at was probably enough to make the girl upset, but Cara saw that as being harmless. Had she known that Makayla had hit her, she definitely would have felt differently, even if it was clear that Holly wasn’t hurt and maybe even understood why what she said was wrong.
She and Collin had found a bench right outside of the store that she had told Makayla to meet them at. Chanel, Brooklyn and Roman had made their way into the store, and though Cara had initially walked in with everyone, she returned to the bench soon after when she decided that she didn’t need to buy anything yet. Their resort offered the option of having all of their purchases immediately sent back to their hotel room, to save them from having to carry bags around the park, but Cara still didn’t feel like shopping at the moment. She would probably feel differently after seeing that Chanel had purchased ears, since she definitely needed some cute pictures this trip, but there would be a bunch of shops and stands on the way that she could purchase from. Before Makayla and Holly showed up, Cara glanced at her phone to confirm that their Fast Passes for Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster was ready, and their one for the Tower of Terror was a little while after. There were other rides they would do too, but those were two of the big ones that Cara, personally, wanted to hit. She had proposed stopping for lunch first, so as Makayla and Holly showed up, she figured that it would be best to see if that was what everyone actually wanted to do. “The others are just looking around,” she said, standing up from the bench and turning away from Makayla and Holly for a second to peak into the gift shop that the others were in. She didn’t initially see Brooklyn and Roman (and admittedly, made no effort to look any deeper into the store once she saw Chanel), but she did see Chanel standing with a guy. Though a knowing smile crossed her face, she didn’t resist calling out to the girl and interrupting whatever was going on. The boy was cute, but Chanel could definitely do better. “Time to stop neglecting your friends in favor of retail therapy, Chanel!” she playfully chided, stepping into the store fully then to stand beside her. “Makayla must’ve yelled at Holly because she seems upset, but I’m sure she’ll be fine. Do you think we should just do the rollercoaster first and then eat? I know I’ll feel gross flipping upside down and stuff after eating. You suggest it though, since I don’t wanna seem like a control freak,” she said, smiling still, but half-serious.

He had to admit that the name Pluto sounded familiar, but he didn't think not knowing the name of some mouse's dog was that big a deal. If anything, he thought Jupiter had a better ring to it. Brooklyn's remark on his alleged greasiness made him run his hand through his hair, recalling the heat and how he'd desperately need a shower by the end of the day. He shrugged at her rhetorical question about who owned Pluto, scanning the hats another time before interrupting himself in order to turn to Brooke and cast her a disgruntled look. "Don't you have some children to make cry?" he said from behind her, catching sight of Cara and Chanel in the other corner. Despite getting quite a nasty look from her earlier, she appeared to have returned to her usual cheery self, the pair of Minnie Mouse ears on her head compensating for any lack. Cara seemed well enough, so Roman was fine with moving on in the sense of not dwelling on it. He wasn't particularly looking forward to stepping out in the heat again.

At the register, he saw a carousel of large, rainbow lollipops. Ever having a strong sweet tooth, he stepped from behind Brooke long enough to grab one, not taking into account that the sweetness of it would probably make him thirsty. He was aware that he was going to end up looking like a six foot five year old with the hat and lollipop, but he didn't see himself caring particularly much once they were outside and he was close to having a heat stroke again. "You know Disney World is bigger than Manhattan?" he said as he stripped the plastic from his candy. It went over his head the irony of him not knowing something as simple as Pluto's name while simultaneously knowing such an arbitrary fact. Although he was done browsing, he still remained inside in an attempt to delay the sun's rays for as long as possible. He did glance outside, though, spotting the two sisters and noting their arrival. "The girls are here. I can't tell if Holly's crying or finished crying," he said, only really able to discern the pink in her face. "You know when we're eating?"

Chanel and her new acquaintance were in the middle of discussing the different parks when she heard Cara call her name. While Cara was able to catch on rather quickly, by the time Chanel had excused herself from the discussion, she still hadn't perceived that anything flirty was going on. She wasn't one of those girls whose looks were completely lost on them, nor was she on the other extreme where she was too aware of her appearance. If anything, she thought herself more the latter, and more adept at being able to tell when someone was hitting on her, but the recent event clearly showed that she wasn't her radar wasn't as developed as she thought it was. Chanel also had the problem with being unintentionally flirty thanks to her personality. What she saw as just being friendly could sometimes easily be perceived different. It was something she and her friends had discussed many times before. Recounting a night out and everyone gushing over someone Chanel thought she had just been talking to, but her friends swore that the girl was flirting. Even though Chanel was technically single, and in some ways still getting over it, she still wasn't mentally ready for anything. She didn't even want to dabble, at least not sober. Come tonight, the story might be different.

"Oh they're here? Cool." Chanel didn't find it necessary to remark on how Makayla probably did more than just yell at Holly. "Yeah, let's do the rides first and then eat," she contended. She wasn't one to easily get sick on rides, but she had had her share of riding on a full stomach, and the thrill wasn't as nice when you could feel your last meal sloshing around in your belly. She'd much rather do a few adrenaline junky activities and then replenish herself with food. "You mean the ones with the passes, right?" she said. "If we get there early and the line isn't too long we could go through the regular one, then use our fastpass to ride again. Also, I'm not super picky on where I sit with rides, but if we can get the front, that would be awesome possum," she said as they headed outside to where the others were. Even though she knew the two girls were already outside, she pretended to be shocked when she saw them, namely Holly. It only took half a second to notice Holly's damp eyes and flushed face, but if Chanel was being honest, it was better than she was expecting to find. It was no secret that Chanel could be dramatic, so as a kid--who are already dramatic in their own right--getting spanked, or even yelled at, could warrant a long, overdone crying fest. If she was Holly, Chanel probably would have still been crying, if not because her feelings were still hurt, than to just make noise. Still, even though Holly didn't look as upset as she was expecting, and Chanel tried not to baby her, she still scurried over to the girl and gave her a hug, as if she had been gone for longer than fifteen minutes.

"Holly!" she said, shaking the girl. Chanel remembered the other pair of ears in her hand, and pulled them up to Holly. "It's about time you're back. I got you something. Now we're twins," she said as she placed the headband on Holly's head. She was typically sweet with Holly, while still trying to maintain some appropriate level of her actual age, but Chanel felt the need to overcompensate a bit since the day had gotten off to an odd start. And even though Holly was sixteen, in a way she was still a child, and you don't want crying kids at Disney. What's more, she didn't really expect Holly to suddenly have a major teen moment and push her away, wondering why Chanel was hugging and being nice to her. But still, with sixteen year olds, you could never be sure. She'd lived with Holly long enough for her to witness a few instances where the girl acted her age. As she situated the ears on Holly's head, she made it a point to not meet Makayla's gaze. She didn't want the girl to give her an uncomfortable look over the gift, which Chanel had admittedly used the Magicband for. If there was a problem, Chanel would tell her it was an early Christmas gift or she got a good deal for both by flirting the cashier. "Oh yeah," she said, remembering the announcement she was supposed to make. "We're going to do the rides first and then eat so we can keep the barfing to a minimum. I think we're still doing that diner spot?" she said, glancing at Cara for clarification as she gave Holly her phone's camera so she could see herself. "Good?"

There were a lot of things that excited Holly. Really, she could find a reason to get hyped up over nearly anything. In her current mood, though, even though in a few minutes, being in Disney would have been enough to pull her out of her slump, getting a gift was probably the only thing that could pull her out of it immediately. Cara's acknowledgement that she hadn't been upset had made Holly feel a bit better, and she was tempted to look to Makayla with an expression that would read "see?!", but she knew better than that. It was still too soon for her to be that brave, but at the very least, Cara's normalcy made Holly feel less horrible. Like a child, the majority of the reason that she was feeling upset was because she had gotten in trouble, and not because she had potentially made Cara feel bad. She did think about that a little bit though, even if she still didn't entirely understand why the comment would offend her in the first place. Though an ounce of bitterness would remain towards Makayla (though Holly wasn't going to risk expressing that too blatantly), Cara's confirmation that she was fine, coupled with the hug from Chanel and more importantly, the gift, had Holly's eyes lighting up with excitement. "We are twins!" she exclaimed, laughing aloud as she looked at herself in Chanel's camera. It felt obligatory to click the button to take a photo of herself before handing the phone back to Chanel. "Thank you!" she said, a phrase that would have come eventually, since she was definitely overwhelmingly excited over the pair of ears that made her officially Disney-ready, but was expedited as she glanced towards Makayla.

The glance was short-lived, as she returned her attention to Chanel, who had temporarily become her favorite person in the group. "And Makayla didn't want me to tell you before because you were busy getting ready and stuff, but since you're staying in the same room as us you're officially our sister now until we get back to New York! And that's exciting because if you ever want to talk to us at night now you can, and if you ever need a Band-Aid or anything like that, Makayla will give it to you!" She looked to Cara, then, suddenly caught up in this train of thought, despite it not being very relevant to what they were currently doing. "And you're our friend, so if you ever need a Band-Aid Makayla will give you one too, but if there's only one left then Chanel would get it because she's our sister, so make sure you don't get any cuts if Chanel gets one first," she continued, frowning somewhat at the never-going-to-happen dilemma, though her suggested solution seemed good enough.

Holly's caution towards angering her sister was more short-lived than even she could expect it to be, as her next thought was probably one that would warrant an eye roll, though she still meant no harm at all by it. In fact, it was probably a clear representation of how impulsive most of what she said was, since it was ironic at the least. "Are we going on a roller coaster? I've never been on one of those, have you, Chanel?" she asked, following it up quickly with, "Do you think they'll let Makayla go on it since she's so short?" Literally not more than a second went by after she uttered that thought before she realized that Brooklyn and Roman weren't with them. While the others probably would have been okay, if not happy, to move along without the duo, Holly was blissfully unaware of them being unwanted. "I'll find Brooklyn and Ro!" she offered, because the opportunity to see Brooklyn, show both of them her new ears, and go into a store seemed perfect. She was risking getting in trouble with Makayla again, but the excitement in the past two minutes had surprisingly made her forget that for the moment. In what was somewhat unfortunate for her, Holly didn't have to do much looking around at all, since a few seconds after she walked into the store, she spotted Brooklyn and Roman steps away from the exit with their own purchases. She about-faced to follow them in their path outside towards the group, and though her initial plan was to ask them if they loved her ears as much as she did, that plan was abandoned quickly as looked to Roman with curiosity and fascination. "I didn't know you liked lollipops."

Had anyone other than Roman brought up the random trivia fact about Disney's size in comparison to Manhattan, Brooklyn would have questioned the validity of it, partially because it was a strange thing to think about, but also just to be difficult. Roman was weird enough to know random facts like that and be right, though, so she decided to keep quiet, though she did spend a minute or so appreciating the piece of trivia. With how much property Disney owned, and how compact Manhattan really was, it wasn't incredibly unrealistic sounding. Like that comment, his one about the girls arriving went unanswered too, but only because after Brooklyn had paid for her hat and placed it on her head, she was following him out to see them for herself. Like Roman had said, it looked like Holly had been crying, but barely so, since before they could even step outside she had approached them in her typically assertive manner, though all she commented on initially was Roman's lollipop. That wasn't too surprising, but only because Brooklyn was sure that Holly was jealous and probably couldn't ask them the million other questions on her mind now that she was too busy thinking about candy. The lollipop did look good, and the bright rainbow colors were probably put on there for that mere purpose, but Brooklyn disliked sugary candy like lollipops that made her teeth feel like they went from being clean to having multiple cavities in a matter of minutes.

While the nice thing to do probably would have been to offer to buy Holly one, especially since she had that wristband, and since she and Roman had technically been involved in getting her in trouble earlier, Brooklyn wasn't going to go down that route. "There's nothing Roman likes more than big, rainbow lollipops in his mouth, Holly. You should know that by now, if you're really his friend." Even if Brooklyn had left it at that, she probably could have gotten off the hook with a roll of the eyes from the others, who they were then approaching and only might have heard her comments, but she didn't. She had told herself that she was going to be good this vacation, and she had been, but being a little troublesome couldn't hurt, she decided. If anything, it was just to get back at Roman for his comparatively-innocent comment about making children cry. "He likes them in the ass too, but don't tell Collin that, because I don't need the two of them going at it all night while I'm trying to sleep. I need my beauty rest if we're going to meet Cinderella tomorrow." As if she had said nothing wrong at all, she looked to Chanel, someone who she normally would never care to acknowledge, and said, "Cute ears. Where to now?" She didn't feel like interacting with Cara, so speaking to Chanel was the best way to kind of still do that, but not make Cara feel important enough to be addressed at the same time.

Maybe it was because Roman and Brooklyn were temporarily gone, that Cara was able to smile sincerely when Chanel slid a pair of Minnie ears onto Holly's head. Out of sight, out of mind, was the motto she was living by for the moment. If those two weren't tagging along, Cara was sure that she could have a good vacation with the others, even her brother. She would claim until the end of time that Collin was the more problematic sibling, and that she was completely fine behavior-wise until he started bothering her, but that wasn't entirely true. Like right now, Collin was usually okay with sitting back and going with the flow. He could be snide sometimes, but not to an extent where he was really a bad or deviant brother. That wasn't something that Cara would ever admit, especially not with how he had been acting recently, though. Out of sight and out of mind could only last for so long, because before Cara had a second to compliment Holly on her matching look with Chanel, comment on how she would make an effort to not need that bandage, or insist that Makayla would be tall enough to ride anything they wanted to go on, Holly was off to find Brooklyn and Roman. Since they must have been leaving the gift shop then too, it didn't take more than a minute for Holly to return with them, and since it was such a short period of time, there wasn't much time for Cara to speak to the two girls beside her before then.

Though she was clearly not excited by the return of Brooklyn and Roman, she did her best not to be too obvious of it. She didn't made a snide remark about Roman's hat, or even roll her eyes at their arrival. They were back in her sight so they couldn't be entirely out of mind, but she would try to adopt a different motto: "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". They could follow them around like the unwanted stalkers that they were in Cara's mind, but that didn't mean that she had to acknowledge their presences. Or at least that was what she thought for the point two seconds that existed before Brooklyn opened her mouth and made a remark about Roman possibly engaging in sex with her brother. Instinctively, Cara's eyes widened, though her glare was sent in Collin's direction, because they were his fault and his problem. As if they were stray animals, Cara felt like if he was the one trying to allow them to assimilate into their normal and domestic culture, he was responsible for keeping them tame and in line, and he was clearly failing at that. "Don't listen to her, Holly. Some people really just don't know how to behave in public," Cara said, her tone snippier than she meant it to be, but only because she was truly addressing Brooklyn in the most civil manner she could muster, as she placed a hand on Holly's back to usher her back over to the proper side of the group.

She couldn't stop Brooklyn and Roman from following them, but Cara also now wasn't going to make an effort to wait around for them ever again. "Come on, we don't want to miss our time for the ride," she said, even though they had a while before their fast pass expired. With her hand still on Holly's back, since she was sure that she would be the one out of all of them to try and lure Brooklyn back into their circle, she pushed onward towards the ride, shooting Chanel a "can you believe her?" look in the process. When they were at least a few feet ahead of Roman and Brooklyn, or at least when she assumed that they were, since she didn't actually turn back to check, she leaned closer to Chanel to say, "Should I say something to her? Because it's getting really hard to be the bigger person here."

To some people, it probably seemed like Makayla was overly uptight about how Holly behaved. They probably saw her as being like a helicopter parent, there to correct every wrong move Holly made without giving her space to breathe. She knew by now, at least deep down, that everyone she was on this trip with (or at least the girls) knew that she was only like that because of how Holly was. It wasn't that Makayla was obsessive and controlling, but more-so, cautious and protective. She didn't want Holly bothering other people or crossing lines for the sake of those people, but she also didn't want Holly to put herself in a position where people would ever have true reason to dislike her. It could have been easy for Makayla to not care about Holly unknowingly taking advantage of Cara's generosity, or allow her to be overbearing and intrusive towards Chanel in their apartment. She knew that the charm of Holly would wear off eventually if Cara found her knocking on her door every single day to hang out, even when Makayla wasn't home, or if Chanel came home to find her rummaging through her things. Though both situations would have involved a very-innocent Holly who wouldn't have understood how unacceptable or annoying she was being, after a while, Chanel and Cara would prove that they were human and become less tolerant of it. Makayla stepped in to stop some of Holly's quirks to protect her from rubbing people the wrong way, because she knew that Holly thrived off of socialization, but that need to be involved in everyone's lives would eventually come back to bite her if it wasn't for Makayla's wariness.

Since mostly everyone knew what they were dealing with this week, and especially since her conversation with Brooklyn had allowed her to securely know that they weren't going to be the most hated people on this trip, she did want to give Holly a little bit more breathing room. She hoped that their alone time in the room just before this would insure that that breathing room would still come with acceptable behavior, though. Even if she was going to step back a bit, it would only take one wrong word for Makayla's instinctive fear of them being "too much" to come out, and for her to feel the need to rope Holly back into line, and she knew that. Nonetheless, she decided to lag back a bit, falling in between Roman, Brooklyn and Collin, and Cara, Chanel and Holly. She had clearly heard what Brooklyn had said to Holly a few seconds back, and could tell that Cara's reaction that involved ushering Holly ahead was partially in response to the inappropriateness of Brooklyn's words, but also probably because it seemed like she and Brooklyn were using Holly as a pawn. Brooklyn would agitate Holly, or provoke her into doing or saying something that might offend Cara, and then Cara would respond by luring Holly away, almost as if they were trying to prove that they had the most control. Makayla doubted that it was a game of winning Holly's affection in the grand scheme of things, but more-so that she was the most convenient thing they had in the moment to prove that they could one-up each other. It wasn't the first time Makayla had witnessed them doing this, and she wasn't sure if they even realized that they were engaging in the back and forth game involving Holly, but it was how she interpreted it. Cara had pulled Holly away, and as inappropriate as the comment was, it was nothing truly offensive, so Makayla had no reason to really react aside from smirking ever-so-slightly at how audacious Brooklyn could be. When you weren't on the receiving end of it, it could definitely be humorous.

Chanel was innately dumbfounded and exasperated at Brooklyn's nonchalance in pairing with her crude comment, especially in front of Holly. Cara swept in before Chanel had to kiss the ground and pray. Even though the drama and pettiness was getting to be too much simply because it was too early on the trip, Chanel was concerned with maintaining the closest thing to harmony she could muster for as long as possible, so she didn't completely ignore Brooke by going with Holly and Cara immediately. She offered a soft smile and pointed in the direction they were headed. "We're going on the ride and then eating afterwards. We have Fastpasses, so you can don't have to go right now if you guys want to do your own thing," she said, only being discreet about her suggestion that they separate for the sake of group peace. She glanced at Collin as if to remind her that these were technically his guests and that her subtle nod was also in his direction. She obviously didn't mind Collin hanging out with them, especially since she'd vouched for him not too long ago, but it would be tacky if he just let Roman and Brooklyn hanging. Chanel was sure the three wouldn't think of it like that, but Chanel would feel awkward and responsible for them if she was in Collin's position. "Like finish your lollipop," she said with a slight laugh that was meant to lessen any tension and also because the sight of Roman looking quite childish was comically paradoxical. "But yeah, Collin can probably catch you up on the rest of the plans." Another subtle nod at grouping the three of them together.

She left them at that, take a short, but deep breath as she caught up with the other two. Chanel made sure to nod Makayla over, but she decided not to wait up. It seemed that the only ones really bothered by Brooke's comments were her and Cara, as Makayla didn't seem affected, and Roman even looked amused. She caught him saying something to Brooklyn, but his face didn't suggest that he was scolding her over her joke. When she got to the girls, she gave Holly a slight tickle from behind before playing it off by standing next to Cara casually. She simply shook her head at the girl's question. Maybe if they weren't stuck in a room together for the next couple of days, but there was no point. "Too much effort," she said, purposely being short with her words to emphasize of how little importance the Brooklyn and Roman situation was. She didn't want to feed it excess energy, let alone any energy at all, if she could so help it. "Doesn't confrontation fuel her? If it involves this one," she said, mentioning Holly without nodding to the girl since she didn't want to accidentally get her attention, "Let her sister handle it. Otherwise, just tell Collin if they get to be too much." She came close to saying that he would probably be the best option for Brooke since there was clearly something going on between them, but she knew that would open flame to something that didn't need anymore heat. Instead, she left it at, "She'll listen to him. And if you want, just give me the look, and I'll talk to him so you don't have to keep repeating yourself. Because if you don't woosa, then Chanel doesn't woosa. And Chanel needs some woosa-ing."

Now that she was finally in Orlando, she really wanted to enjoy herself. It wasn't to say that she was planning on moping the entire time, but she wasn't giddy over the vacation, and didn't really see it as such because of the finance aspect. The ambiance of Disney helped melt that away, though, and she quickly adjusted to the vacation mindset. While she wanted to help Cara, and she knew she would be mediator, and maybe Collin too if he wasn't so impassive, but she didn't want to have a job throughout this whole trip. She'd be a bitch if she told Cara to suck it up and deal with the fact that Brooke and Roman were here and that they were both asssholes, and that the former specifically would without a doubt go out of her way to probe Cara. It was just day one, so she could do fine for now, but it was also day one. She couldn't keep fake smiling. She does enough of that in New York. She wanted genuine smiles and genuine memories that she could look back on without feeling guilty over a self-created facade even she couldn't convince herself of. She glanced back through the crowd, only barely able to spot the others, as a thought crossed her head. Hopefully it wouldn't get to this point, but she might even chat with Collin alone to discuss the importance of them both dealing with their own. It would depend on how the day turned out. If not so good, then she would talk to him simply because he seemed the only other option. She couldn't be responsible for everyone on this trip. "I haven't been on a rollercoaster since...high school, I think? I always have to pee when I'm on them."

Holly was only a step or two ahead of Cara and Chanel, but she was overjoyed at the opportunity to lead the group, even if it was only for a few minutes and she truly had no idea where she was going. It allowed her to feel like she was setting the pace; like she didn't have to rush to keep up with anyone, or have Makayla yell at her for getting distracted. Everyone else was distracted themselves by Brooklyn's comment, which Holly had only frowned at, finding it disturbing but in a more innocent way since she didn't catch the obvious sexual innuendos attached to it, so she had a minute or two to truly gawk at the sights as they walked towards the ride. Everything looked so cute and charming, and for someone who had left New York City on only a few instances in her entire life, it was a bit of a culture shock. It was like something you would see in movies, only better. Between the stores, the smell of baked goods as they passed what must have been a bakery or candy store, the tons of cool balloons that were being sold on stands on the side of the "street" they were walking down, and the lively atmosphere that the crowds provided, Holly was feeling energized and overwhelmed at the same time. She wanted to go into every store, to touch every toy and merchandise, to talk to every person they passed, and definitely to get one of the lollipops that Roman had, but she didn't know where to start. She tried to remind herself of the ride they were going on. The ride! How exciting that would be. She had never been on a roller coaster before, but luckily, she was only feeling excited and not even remotely nervous. She didn't have enough context to know that it could potentially be scary.

"What does woosa mean?" Holly questioned, making it clear that she had only tuned back into the conversation occurring behind her at that, because had she been listening the whole time, she would have had more to say. "Does your mom like roller coasters?" she added, in what would only make sense to her as being a relevant follow-up question to Chanel stating she hadn't been on a roller coaster since high school.

Collin's mindset was now that he had to just roll with the punches that this trip was going to throw at him. He couldn't even remember how Brooklyn had convinced him to let Roman come along. Even though Roman didn't seem as blatantly troublesome as Brooklyn, in the sense that up until now, he wasn't being as provocative, Collin also felt like Brooklyn wouldn't act this way without Roman there as her wingman. It was probably not the most sensible of thoughts, since Collin knew just as well as anyone that Brooklyn could be a menace on her own, without the help of anyone else, but it was what he wanted to think to liberate himself of guilt. He had agreed to let Brooklyn join them on this trip partly to spite his sister, since he was beginning to reach his limit of dealing with her bitchiness, but also because he was a bit infatuated with Brooklyn. Even if it wasn't in the sense of him being delusional enough to think that she would ever want to date him, the idea of being able to sleep with her every night while at Disney was surely enough to have him insisting that accommodating her wouldn't be a problem. She asked about bringing Roman along a few days later, when it was too late and awkward for him to say no, and now, yes, he was regretting extending the invitation even to her. Part of him felt like expressing this to Cara, waving his white flag of surrender and admitting that he didn't know how to deal with the duo of trouble this week either. Maybe they could rent out a room for them at a separate hotel and solve the problem. At the same time, admitting that he was wrong to his sister was something that someone as passive as Collin was was going to struggle with. At least this early on in the game.

He didn't want to have to spend his vacation watching them to eliminate problems, but at the same time, if he didn't hover over them, he knew there was going to be an issue between his sister and Brooklyn. Then again, Collin felt like Brooklyn was the type to thrive off of knowing that people were giving attention to her bad behavior, or to prevent it. Maybe he exaggerated that a bit in his head, to tell him that his best course of action was to ignore Brooklyn and Roman. Starting with Brooklyn's comment about him and Roman, and Roman's reaction to that. Brooklyn and Roman were his problems more than they were Cara's, but what if they could be no-one's problem? What if no-one acknowledged them outside of the hotel room? Brooklyn had been really fun in bed over the past few weeks, but Collin was suddenly coming to the conclusion that maybe that wasn't worth the crazy that came along with it. He would have to grow a pair and stand up to Cara in a more direct way, rather than indirectly trying to piss her off by bringing Brooklyn along.

Since he knew that Cara and Chanel were probably annoyed, if not angry, with him already, he didn't hurry to catch up with them, and instead, silently excused himself into a store so that he didn't have to walk with either group. He would leave the store a minute later, after only buying a water bottle, but it would give him enough time to be out of sight thanks to the crowds that separated him from even Brooklyn and Roman, who had been at the back of the group.

Chanel was beginning to wonder more seriously about her last roller coaster when Holly chimed in. She grinned slightly as she fluffed her hair off her neck in an attempt to cool down. She secretly thanked herself for not wasting time straightening her hair, since the heat, along with the Florida humidity, would have pulled her curls out before long. "Woosa is what you say when you want to calm down. So if you're frustrated and upset and need to relax, then you can say it." She was going to leave it there, since there was nothing more to be said on the word, but she realized that maybe Holly would think that Chanel was upset about something. So, she clarified. "Back home I was too busy to woosa and relax, so I really need to do that. And now that we're at Disney World, and it's supposed to be fun, I can finally woosa. Because you can't have fun if you're stressed and not relaxed, you know?" It was the easiest and most appropriate explanation. It went without saying that going into the details of how crappy working back to back was, all while dealing with the stress of the holiday season, never mind whatever emotional stress you were already dealing with. That could all be summed up in a word--busy. It was something that didn't bother Chanel, being busy. Remaining still for so long freaked her out, and that was long before she was afraid of being left with her thoughts. It was a trait that her eldest brother didn't get, and had made it known he was peeved by. Being more of an introvert himself, and being perfectly fine with stillness, it went without saying that there were definitely clashes between the two since Chanel couldn't tolerate so much silence. Now, though, she had a different relationship with business. She didn't want to necessarily enjoy solitude, but she could get overwhelmed too. For a girl like Chanel, who was naturally very carefree and jovial, being stressed was even harder for her to handle, unlike some people who thrived on it.

She cast her nose up to the sky, squinting at the sun as she pondered at Holly's next question. That one was tougher because now she had to think further back, since she knew for a fact that her mother had never gone on any roller coasters while Chanel was in high school. It wasn't any secret to her that her mother didn't like to do anything at parks but eat and go on the tame rides, the latter of which was rare on its own, but it would bug Chanel if she couldn't think of any specific instance to back that up, because she knew she was right. When it finally came to her, she nodded, counteracting the "No," she uttered. "She hates them. She's super Afr--aid of them," she said, replacing African with afraid, since she knew Holly wouldn't understand what she meant with the former. Technically, no one else in the group would either, but everyone else would be able to figure that it was a cultural inside joke of sorts. "But she's scared of everything, just like my brother." If her memory served her correctly, the last time her mother went on a roller coaster was when she was eight, and was too small to ride by herself. She might have been even younger, since she'd always been quite tall for her age. She couldn't quite remember why her dad didn't ride with her, since he loved thrill rides. Chanel couldn't recall much, but she knew the ride itself wasn't that bad because they only had a metal bar holding them in. Nevertheless, her mother screamed the entire time; you'd think someone was murdering her. She also remembered it making her aforementioned brother cry from the sidelines. Such an experience would make it understandable if Chanel had been deterred from riding roller coasters ever again, but if anything, it just made her impatient to be tall enough to ride by herself. She wasn't an adrenaline junky by any means, as she still had her limits when it came to rides, but with a place like Disney, she knew she didn't have much too worry about anyway. Then it dawned on her that Holly had more than likely never been on a roller coaster, and since they weren't going on a kiddie ride, it was probably a bit of an introduction by anyone's standards. "Cara, what do you think of this being Holly's first roller coaster?" she said with an excited smile that purposely didn't reach her eyes or match her concerned tone. As if to add insult to injury, just seconds after saying that, loud screams erupted from Tower of Terror, and she gave Cara another knowing look.

Cara nodded in a thoughtful manner as she took in Chanel's advice. Sometimes, Cara had a tendency to ask for advice, receive good advice, but then do the opposite of it anyway if it was what she was originally planning on doing. Right now, Chanel seemed right, though. Confronting Brooklyn would only add fuel to the fire, and like Chanel, she wanted to relax. She needed to relax, and she could have already been relaxing if it wasn't for Collin and his bright idea to include the trailer park trash that Cara was glad were trailing behind far enough that she had breathing room, finally. Brooklyn deserved to be put in her place after such a crude remark, but Cara had to remind herself that A: it would provoke Brooklyn into being more of a nuisance and B: people like Brooklyn were uncultured and classless. That was what Cara told herself, at least. She probably came from one of those families that spent their summers visiting dirty lakes or spending days at Dorney Park downing ten Big-Gulp sized cups of Mountain Dew and five thousand calories worth of junk food in a six hour period and then complaining that their rented scooter wasn't comfortable enough. Trash. She needed to remind herself not to expect any sort of manners or class from the girl. Just because she told herself this now, and was able to take a deep breath and move on, especially since no one else seemed as agitated as her, didn't mean that she wasn't going to let Brooklyn bother her for the rest of the trip. It was too easy to get under Cara's skin when it came to that girl.

Had it not been for the screams that erupted in the distance from The Tower of Terror ride, Cara might have waved a careless hand at the concern in Chanel's voice. She had been coming to Disney since she was a baby, and she had went on the ride a few years after it opened, when she was tall enough. She had been seven years old, and she knew that only because she had a picture of her riding it with her mother somewhere in one of her photo albums. With that being said, though, Cara had been on other roller coasters before it. Magic Kingdom had lots of more child-friendly rides that could allow a kid to work their way up to a ride like this. Cara was aware that this was Holly's first roller coaster from their previous conversations, but now she was beginning to wonder if she had actually ever been on any amusement park rides at all. This roller coaster was going to be a big start for Holly-- between the way it went from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds, and how it had lots of turns and even an upside down loop... Holly had seemed so excited about everything that the possibility of this being too much for her hadn't even registered in Cara's mind. As much as she wanted to act like part of this vacation would be centered around giving Holly and Makayla the perfect first-time visit one could have, she was also definitely thinking about herself and the things that she wanted to go on. Only now was she realizing that it may have been considerate to at least ask Makayla in advance if she thought Holly would be okay on a ride like this, so that in the worst case scenario, she could have fastpassed something else for Holly and Makayla and discretely went on the ride with Chanel without making a big deal out of it. Since the huge guitar was now in sight, it seemed too late for that now, though Cara had bit her lip as she glanced over at Chanel, mouthing "Do you think she'll die?" Not waiting, and already following the park employee's direction to scan her band at the entrance, since even if Holly and Makayla sat this out, she was going on it, she continued to say, "I think it'll be fun. Do you think you'll like it, though, Holl? It does go pretty fast. Do you think you want to try a different ride first?"

Makayla followed behind the girls, close enough to not notice when Collin detached himself from Roman and Brooklyn, and a family managed to squeeze in to their sequence to separate Brooklyn and Roman from the group ahead, but still not close enough to Holly, Chanel and Cara to really hear what they were saying. She kept an eye on Holly from behind, but was doing good at giving her some space. Getting angry at the girl before had warranted it, but also, despite what people probably thought, Makayla knew that it was good, if not essential, to give Holly some level of freedom. She was sixteen after all, and Makayla didn't doubt that most kids her age would be wandering around the park with no parental supervision if they wanted to. Of course, Holly wasn't your average sixteen year old, and Makayla had no doubt in her mind that if she let Holly do something like that, she would be thrown out in less than an hour for cutting every ride line, and more specifically, every line for the meet and greets with the characters. She was relieved that they hadn't seen any dressed up characters yet, because she knew that would be a show in itself with her sister's reaction. She knew that Cara and Chanel must have understood that they would be dealing with a lot of Holly this trip, and both were always very tolerant and insistent that she wasn't a problem, so Makayla was going to do her best to not be too smothering of Holly (even if when she did that, it was only for everyone else's benefit). She would watch from afar and only step in when needed. It would do Holly some good, but also allow her to regain some of the patience that she normally had, that had seemingly evaporated on the spot earlier in the room.

As they walked, she distracted herself with people watching. It wasn't entirely easy to do while simultaneously trying to walk and not bump into anyone, and while also watching what Holly was doing ahead, but she got by. It was sweet to see all of the families here. They all looked happy and picture-perfect in their own way. She wondered if most of them were people who lived in Florida and did this so regularly that the charm barely existed anymore, or if they were people who had saved up for years and years to afford a trip like this. It certainly meant more to be here if you knew that you wouldn't be able to come back for years, if at all, than if you had a seasonal pass and could visit every day if you wished, and that was why Makayla was going to try to enjoy herself. She knew she would probably never end up here again, and if she did, it would require at least ten years time, or a rich baby daddy.

She only truly caught up to the girls when they were in line, and with the way that the fast pass line was vacant, at least compared to the other line, the three girls ahead of her only stopped walking once they had made it through the maze-like empty line outside, and were inside of the building. Because the line was empty enough where they were able to keep walking, Makayla didn't take in every single detail, but she appreciated the record-industry type of vibe that the ride gave off. Just before one of the cast member's asked how many were in their party, and was told four, before allowing them to step into a room that was already pretty full of other ride-goers, that appeared to play a small video clip on a screen before you were allowed to get on the ride. "So you go upside down on this?" Makayla asked, missing most of what Holly had said as she looked to Cara and Chanel after overhearing a group next to them talking about the ride. She hadn't done much research on any of the rides prior to coming, and even though she wasn't a thrill-seeker, she didn't think she would have any problems on the rides. She had been on a few before at Coney Island as a kid and survived, and since it was Disney, she automatically assumed that they were mostly kiddie rides. The thought of flipping upside down made her stomach churn, though she wasn't about to back out over it, but she did look over at Holly a bit cautiously at the thought of something even semi-intense being her first ride.

Chanel quietly perked her brows in response to Cara's silent question. She told herself not to worry so much, since she figured someone as responsible as Makayla must have already taken that into consideration. She only figured that if the concern had passed her mind, then surely it must have passed Makayla's, and if something worried Chanel, it probably did Makayla as well, who was already openly cautious with all things Holly. It was hard, though, to be too nervous and scared for the girl when she was so visibly excited. Of course, the charm of Disney, in some ways, did fade as you got older. In the sense that that childlike perception of the world inevitably gave way to adulthood and everything it required of a person. The jovial air of the place was still present, but the magic that she swore the air was riddled with as a kid, was no longer there. It was just Disney, and as much as she could love it, like millions of people across the world did, she had easily outgrown it. She didn't watch the sky with unmatched dedication, searching for Tinkerbell and Peter Pan in the clouds. Chanel was never told that all the times her and her father would point up, exclaiming that they saw the characters, was only pretend on her dad's part. It never needed explaining because one day, and it was an indeterminable amount of time after she actually subconsciously figured it out, she just knew. Never mind the fact that she'd get odd, concerned looks if she were to twirl around everywhere she went to show how excited she was, but even internally, she didn't match Holly's enthusiasm. It was refreshing in its own right, hard not to grin at.

"They like dogs actually," Chanel told the girl, welcoming the laugh in her belly. She couldn't remember how much times a dog or some sort had come up in conversation. And Chanel was sure Makayla had to have told her why a dog just wasn't possible, or maybe she didn't bother because it might have been futile, such a simple rule. Because then the question wasn't why can't we have a dog, but why aren't dogs allowed, why in apartments and not houses. She'd lived with the girl long enough to know, too, how much the girl thoroughly loved dogs. "I was just exaggerating because they're scared of a lot of the things that don't scare me. But we all like dogs." As they smoothly moved through the maze of a line--of a lack of one--and got closer to the entrance, to a point where Chanel could hear the rides, she was on the brink of asking Holly about some of her favorite dogs, or if she could create a dog, what kind of dog would she create. It was a strange question, but when she was little herself, and had begged for a puppy (for Christmas specifically, because it had to be like in the movies and TV shows), she was so indecisive and picky that she essentially created her own dog which was essentially a composite of all of her favorite dogs. She even included a little, misshapen creature to illustrate to Santa how the dog should look. She never got a dog, and clearly not that design-a-dog. Even if it had been possible to create such a beast, it probably would have frightened her more than anything if it resembled anything close to her sketch. Makayla's question came before she could indulge into Holly's presumptive creative response. "Yeah, this one does. You probably won't be able to feel it, though, since it's dark and goes pretty fast." She herself had never been on the ride, but she knew about it and was excited. So when they were finally able to board, and she looked ahead and the dark tunnel in front of her, her stomach began to twist in the best worst way possible.

Makayla nodded at Chanel's response. The faster it was, the better, she assumed. Not only would it be over quicker, but like Chanel said, it would probably be harder to notice and process what was really happening if it was going that quickly. Makayla assumed that she would prefer a roller coaster that was fast and indoors, even with a loop, over than those huge ones that towered into the sky with big drops. There was too much suspense with those. Even just waiting in line now was making her a bit nervous with suspense, but luckily, they boarded pretty quickly. Makayla hadn't heard Holly's earlier remark about wanting to sit with one of the other girls on the ride, but she was still paying enough attention to her sister that when she noticed her inching towards the side that Chanel was climbing into, she yanked her towards the empty row behind. "Let Cara sit with her," she said quietly, giving her a look of warning to keep her from complaining. Makayla didn't want Holly sitting with Chanel partially because she knew that Chanel would prefer to sit with Cara (even if she wasn't going to admit it). Additionally, though, she didn't know how Holly would take to a ride like this. The redhead was clearly excited enough to not seem nervous, but Makayla was sure that that was only because Holly didn't know what she was actually in for. She didn't know what roller coasters entailed from a first person perspective, and since she was sure that Cara had only talked the rides up to Holly, she had no one telling her how scary and jolting they could be. The last thing that Makayla needed was for Holly to get sick mid-ride while she was sitting next to anyone other than her.

If something like that happened, Makayla knew that she would probably feel guilty and mortified enough to switch their flight home to that night and end the trip right there. It probably seemed dramatic, but it just related to how uncomfortable she truly felt with already accepting the kindness Cara was showing them. She was determined to ease up and relax, accept Brooklyn's thought that they needed to take advantage of this while they could, but unlike her, it just wasn't in Makayla's nature to take, take, take. Even if there were no strings attached, her mind could convince her that there were. As they pulled their restraints over their head, the car moved forward and an employee came area to check that the restraints were fully in place. With it tightly secured over her upper body, Makayla couldn't really turn to face Holly, but she reached over to give the girl's hand a squeeze. "They said this is going to go really fast, so hold on to the bars, okay?"
