Personality:
| Kind | Manipulative | Selfish | Carefree | Indulgent | Curious | Materialistic |
Chanel does her best to be as nice to people as she can. The majority of the time, she's wearing a smile or is laughing. She tries to see the good in people and situations and is all around just trying to live life with as few restrictions as possible. This makes her come off as immature to some as she's already 22 and doesn't have a clear projection for the future, but to others she is seen as very free spirited and relaxed. She's always ready to do something fun, almost too much to the point that it actually inhibits are ability to get things done. She would much rather go to a concert or walk through Soho instead of doing actual work. To quench her extrovertism and need to do right by the world, she occupies a good chunk of her free time with social activism. In this way she can still interact with people while actually being productive. Her carefree nature can be charming, but also reckless. She likes to pretend the rules don't apply to her since growing up she was used to always getting things to go her way. She doesn't like being told that she can't do something, and if that something is even as trivial as her buying something she doesn't need to buy, she'll still ignore what she should do in place of whatever satisfies her in that given moment.

While she is an agreeable person, this isn't how she is by nature. Even as a child she has always been very manipulative and calculating, determined to get what she wanted. Because she also incredibly charismatic, her ways were mostly ignored, or completely masked for what they really were. She loves gossip and drama and always being in the know whether that involves having knowledge she shouldn't or following the latest trends. She feels the need to have the best and be the best because at her core she is very competitive. She's what most would call incredibly fake, and she was honest enough with herself to admit that such was probably true. Her cold nature comes through projecting her own insecurities in the disguise of confidence and aggression. She's always forced her ideas and personality onto people in a way that made it hard to resist, partially because she was intriguing, but also because she was intimidating. None of this changed until her brother's suicide attempt when she was eighteen. After that she was consumed with guilt because it was the people like her that almost took her brother from her, and even now she accepts some responsibility for his attempt. Her kindness and activism, then, is more so out of a need to make herself feel whole again and distract from the guilt she still feels over her brother's suicide attempt. Deep down she knows that this friendly persona isn't who she truly is and so she tries harder if not to convince others, then to convince herself.

Likes:
| Shopping | Novelty | Oranges | Candles | Organic | Collectibles |
Chanel loves buying things and acquiring new items. She's always up for trying new things and indulging herself. Much of her recklessness comes from little luxuries that add up. Although she is the exact opposite of a Type A personality, she likes to give off that aesthetic so that other people know as well. So she'll waste money on expensive organic juices, a multitude of curly hair products, pricey items from so called 'boho' stores, and expensive gym memberships. Her finances don't allow for it, but she chooses to ignore this and does as she pleases. Of all things, she has a guilty pleasure of buying authentic jewelry and pieces of art with lots of cultural backstory. Her dresser, if not her body, is an array of trinkets and bracelets that she 'just had to have.' She's also very big on music and loves going to concerts, even if that means going out of state to see someone live. Because she gets bored easily, she likes discovering new things. This is where her excessive shopping habit comes in, but also her tendency to scope out new restaurants and places she's never been before.

Dislikes:
| Settling | Work | Her Guilt | Restrictions | Familiarity | Pumpkin anything |
Chanel hates feeling tied down which is the main reason she hasn't found stability in the two years since moving away from home. Although she is trying to be a better person, she's used to being spoiled and thinking that only the rules she likes actually apply to her. Sitting for too long makes her anxious and as though she's not doing enough which in turn opens the door to her closeted guilt. She busies herself not only because she physically cannot sit down but for so long, but because she needs a distraction from her own self.

Background:
Born to a veteran and a dance instructor, Chanel lived a relatively modest life. Before second grade, her family moved around a lot due to her father working in the military and within that time her younger twin brothers were born. Once her father finally retired, the family settled down in Pittsburgh where they carried an average but fulfilling life. Her childhood was a good one what with memories of the smell of Moroccan cuisine and the familiar, nostalgic sound of Arabic spoken by her father. Things were relatively simple and happy. One of the earliest turbulent moments that ever happened to her was when she was 10 years old. Her mother had gotten into a brutal car accident that reared her unable to to teach dance anymore. Similar to Chanel, her mother was unable to sit still for too long, her mother went to school for two years to get an associates in Nursing and has since stayed with that.

Apart from that, she would say she really enjoyed growing up in Pittsburgh where everything seemed to go according to plan. Her home life was good, as was school which was never problematic for her especially since she never had problems with fitting in. This lack of issue didn't stem from her simply not being concerned with the peer pressure that came with growing up. In fact, the opposite was true. Out of fear of being left out, she was very dominating over everything and formed her own rules and cliques, always being the ring leader of whatever she did. Her teachers dubbed her a leader because of her vivaciousness and willingness to take charge, but to others she was intimidating and even somewhat of a bully. However, due to her charm and discreet manipulative nature, she was able to keep friends and was well-liked among the majority of the peers.

Even though this was true, it could also be said that most liked her only on the surface, and didn't really enjoy her for what she truly represented. Such caused a lot of drama and tension when she entered high school. Chanel always found herself entangled in some form of drama and her cattiness only got worse as her need to be a part of something intensified. While her flaws were a driving force in the way she acted, it was never conspicuous enough in the presence of her persuasiveness and natural charisma for people to totally exile her. People knew that she was, for lack of a better term, fake. She would use people and tear them down and seemed to play games with people, just to prove that she could. Nevertheless, there were still many who would say that they didn't necessarily dislike her, but that there was something about her that made them wary of her true intentions.

By the time high school graduation came around, she was sick of all of her classmates, and they felt the same towards her. She'd lost most of her 'friends,' but didn't seem bothered by it all too much. So while she got through school mostly unscathed and used to being in control of everything, it wasn't until after she got her diploma that she started to experience the exact opposite. Chanel had decided to take a gap year before going to school, just working and enjoying life. Unlike her, one of her brother's had always struggled in school both academically and socially. It had been an issue for so long that Chanel pretty much ignored it, even as it worsened through middle school and into high school for him. She was at a party when she got a call from her mother, frantic and in tears, telling her that her brother was being rushed to the hospital after trying to kill himself.

To think about life before that moment is odd her now. To be able to fathom that her life was so normal before it happened feels almost surreal. After her brother's attempt, everything at home changed. With all of the stress that was now put on the family, her parents began fighting more, her brother declined mentally, and Chanel became consumed with guilt. She didn't understand the exact extent to her brother's bullying, but it was because she chose ignorance over action. Not only that, but she felt responsible because she was one of the types of people who drove her brother to suicide. Even with everything going on at home, she attended university the following year as planned.

At first it was a relief, a good distraction from her problems--from her guilt. She went in with the intent on being a graphic designer, but after just a semester she was convinced that college wasn't for her. She stayed another semester before dropping out and moving back in with her parents. She busied herself with working and tried to mend relations with her family. While things had improved over the past two years, she still couldn't look her brother in the eye without feeling guilty. Eventually, it became too much to handle and she left for New York City. The reason she gave her parents was that she didn't want to be a burden and wanted to go and start her own life, but in reality it was for far more selfish reasons.

While at first the idea of moving to the city was thought to be temporary, she has since stayed and tried to reinvent herself in different ways. She became more involved in social issues and now will sometimes write for different papers or websites if she is able to find a gig. Outside of that, she hasn't really settled down like she told her parents she would. Instead she had been doing many small jobs and typically only long enough to get her to the next paycheck before she gets bored and quits. As her interests continue to vary in this phase of reinvention, she completely thrusts all of her energy into a hobby and will try to find a job that correlates. Since she quickly bores, though, she never really sticks with anything and so has only really gotten her feet wet in the past two years since being in New York. To make her lack of security seem like less of what it is, she calls herself a freelancer, which isn't necessarily false. While the types of jobs she'll freelance varies, she has consistently stuck with social awareness writing and jobs that involve graphic design of some point, mostly for small companies. As of now, she's still all over the place but relies heavily on freelancing as a means of making money. This is harder, though, because she does not have a college degree and most clients are looking for someone with more qualifications. When finances become too tight, like now, she will get a more stable job, and so currently she works part time as a barista at a small coffee shop, but she's already considering quitting.

Despite it being around noon, Collin was only just catching up with the group at Magic Kingdom now. His hangover had been brutal, at least in his terms, and he just couldn't bring himself to get out of bed before everyone else left. He was now showered, with his headache dulled out by Advil and copious amounts of water, and was feeling somewhat human, though still sub par. And that was only physically speaking. Mentally was a whole other story, and even worse than how he was feeling physically. He remembered every detail from the night before, and though in a way, it still made him jittery to think about the unexpectedness of what had happened with Chanel, he was also sober now, and that meant that he realized how consequential his actions could be. The hardest part about all of this was that he didn't know what Chanel would remember, if it meant anything, or if he should ever even bring it up again. He pondered the possibility of pretending that he didn't remember a single detail about the night and had blacked out, and maybe if he didn't actually like Chanel on a friend level, and this had just been a random close-to-hookup with some random girl, he could have done that, but he didn't want to lie. Even as he approached her, Cara, Makayla and Holly by one of the bathrooms, he didn't know what he was going to say, but he knew that he had to say something, if he could get her alone for a minute. God forbid Cara happen to overhear anything about what had happened the night before, and Collin knew that he would be flown back to New York in a casket. "I'll be waiting out here," he mentioned, as they neared the restrooms. He had no need to go in himself, and though he was tempted to go across the way to a kiosk selling drinks and ice cream to buy something, there was an empty bench in between the doors for the men's and women's bathroom, so he sat down there.

Although Brooklyn and Roman had begun their day with the rest of the group, after a few rides, Brooklyn had insisted that she and Roman split up from them. Relaxing on the railroad train that rode throughout the park seemed better than standing in like for the Winnie the Pooh ride that the others were obviously only going on for Holly, and though she had shut her eyes for the duration of the ride throughout the park, she would still say that she enjoyed it. Once they had circled back to where they had started, she and Roman got off, and though she did text in the group chat to find out what the others were up to, her attention drifted as they found themselves in an area with lots of gift shops. Brooklyn was definitely a shopper, but not so much for trinkets like the things Disney sold. She liked high end things that would deplete her bank account after just purchasing one item. It was a bad addiction, but one that she wasn't interested in breaking. Even if she wouldn't be so recklessly impulsive in Disney, she was shopping on Cara's dollar, so it was all the more inclination to go into the stores whenever something caught her eye in the window. "Pick something out that I can give to you for Christmas," she said to Roman, as they entered one of the stores. "Do you drink coffee? What about a mug?" she asked curiously, picking up a teacup that was shaped like Chip from Beauty and the Beast. "This is cute, you should get it for me."

As expected, Holly was enjoying herself to the fullest extent possible. She loved people, and new things, and bright colors, and youthful themes, so a place like Disney World was one where she undoubtedly thrived. There was so much to see and do, that it was like for once, she wasn't the only person who could get overwhelmed at all of the possibilities. Though there was no denying that she was still a bit different in her reactions to certain things than other people, there was a sense of bringing out your inner child at Disney that seemed to be a universal feeling, so her behavior didn't stick out as much here as it may have in other places. Even if it did, she didn't care, or even notice. Though it stemmed from sheer obliviousness, Holly was lucky that she possessed enough confidence in herself that she usually didn't even think to consider that people could be judging her. She was very sensitive to criticism or teasing that was done in a manner that was impossible for her to ignore, but 99% of the time, she didn't think to even consider that someone could be making fun of her, because taking other people's opinions of her into account just wouldn't cross her mind.

Collin was just now catching up to them, but unlike Chanel, he didn't receive any concern over his well being from Holly. She liked him enough that she probably would have pressed him as to why he was sick, and if he needed any help in feeling better. However, because she hadn't been fed the same line that he was sick being of drinking, like Brooklyn had done with Chanel, it had been easy for her to accept the excuse that he was late because he had been tired. "I'll wait with you!" she piped up, promptly taking a seat on the empty space beside him on the bench. She didn't need to use the bathroom, and saw this as a good opportunity to get to socialize with someone who she hadn't seen for most of the morning. "You missed a lot of fun stuff! Chanel's sick, maybe with chicken pox or cancer, we're not sure, so don't bother her or we'll make you find new friends, but other than that, you missed a lot of fun stuff! We met Elsa and Anna, and Chip and Dale, and we're going to get lunch after this!" she explained, adjusting her Minnie ears distractedly as she spoke. "And Brooklyn and Roman left us, but it's fine, because even though Roman already gets to spend the whole night with Brooklyn, we're not going to let it bother us that he wants to just have her to himself for the whole day too!" she insisted, her tone still happy, though the words probably sounded a bit passive aggressive, as if it was more-so a line that she was saying to reassure herself of that, than to actually tell Collin.

Though it had been a rough start--which was saying a lot about Chanel's typical level of comfort and her standards since she barely woke up with a hangover--Chanel was pretty much good as new by the time she caught up with the others. Holly's enthusiasm, while not entirely welcomed when she was trying to sleep this morning, was not like another boost to get her into the mood for Disney. Taking a hot shower jump started it all, waking her up and leaving her feeling refreshed. Her hair, despite it being a tangled mop because she had bunned it or braided it the night before, was surprisingly cooperative. The warm weather, the fact that she actually didn't forget her favorite pair of underwear, and her being on vacation all helped her turn the clock. In that amount of time, a few memories had bounced back into her head, but they were all arbitrary. Despite this, she still had an uneasy feeling sitting in her stomach that she just attributed to being the leftover alcohol.

It was easy to push it off once she got distracted by the day's activities, and even more so when she began to get hungry and her newest concern was getting some food. But even by that point, there was still a sense that something off had happened, and it made her want to remember more, but at the same time, do the opposite. What was most disturbing wasn't the possibility that she'd done something really stupid, or that something really bad had happened, but the fact that she really didn't have any reason to think that anything of the sort happened, so why did she have this weird feeling? As if on cue, she noticed Holly scurrying towards a seeming stranger, but before she got the chance to pull the girl away, she noticed that it was in fact just Collin. Seeing him made her recall an instance on the boardwalk, something foggy though, like them getting food and talking by the water, but she couldn't be so sure it was him, even though that probably did make the most sense. Chanel had done crazy enough things in the past that made it not be totally unreasonable that she would end up hanging out with a total stranger. She finished thumbing at her phone, sending a message to one of her friends back home about a possible New Years Eve party, before she made her way over.

"He's alive!" she laughed as she sat next to Holly, the girl being the only reason she was still wearing those Minnie ears that were definitely too tight on her own head. She'd been constantly pulling at the band to alleviate the tension. Chanel didn't take forever getting ready, but she definitely took her time, especially once she felt her groove returning. She had no clue the amount of alcohol Collin had had, and understandably assumed that she had topped everyone. So it was a wonder why he was taking so long, which led Chanel to the conclusion that she technically had won their little bet. While Chanel was the first one to get knocked, the fact that Collin seemingly had such a terrible hangover over, again seemingly a lot less alcohol, convinced her that she was still champion. It was an interesting thought process, but she was trying to find a way to come out on top. She clearly wasn't going to tease him right now, or talk about last night at all, what with Holly sitting right here and still thinking Chanel was three seconds away from cardiac arrest.

"Holly, are you sure you don't have to go to the bathroom?" Chanel asked distractedly while she shuffled through her purse. It wasn't so much that Holly wasn't perfectly capable of knowing when she did or didn't have to go to the bathroom, but Chanel knew Holly would be the one to get distracted by more interesting things until the last minute, like while on the way to the dining area. Surely there'd be restrooms there, but it was just easier to get it all out of the way now she figured. Chanel herself could be the same way, where she didn't have to go, or maybe just a little bit, but then once the opportunity had passed, suddenly she really had to go. "Ooh, peppermints!" She'd been looking for her hand lotion, but came across the minty candies instead. She always filled her purse with peppermints this time of year for that exact reason. She always ended up forgetting she'd done so and it was always like a little surprise. She popped one into her mouth with a wide, pleased grin. After pulling out to more, she held her hand out to them. "Want one? They're the soft kind."

"I don't!" Holly insisted, laughing to herself though nothing about it was particularly funny. With how flighty she was, it was entirely possible that the moment that they sat down for lunch she would complain that she had to go to the bathroom, but she wasn't thinking about that right now. "Are you sure that you don't?" she said, returning the question as she plucked a mint out of Chanel's hand, looking at it with undeserved fascination before she unwrapped it and popped it into her mouth. "You're supposed to be drinking a lot of water, Chanel!" she said, as if she had just remembered it in the moment. "Sick people need to stay hydrated! I'll get you some more!" she stated, not even waiting to see if Chanel had a bottle in her bag, or even whether she wanted some or not. "Wait here!" she demanded, hopping off the bench with energy. She hurried away only a few steps before turning back to look at Collin. "Collin, do not let her move until I get her water!" she advised, as if it were a life or death matter, before hurrying a few yards away to a concession stand.

There were a few people in line in front of her, so she spent a few seconds studying the picture menu that they had of all of the ice cream options. It distracted her enough that by the time she got to the front of the line, she definitely would have forgotten to buy the water that she had originally come over for, and would have walked back to Chanel and Collin with just an ice cream for herself. She didn't even get that far before something else distracted her, though. A worker passed by holding a hand full of balloons that streamed into the sky in a bouquet-like fashion. Holly had seen someone else carrying them all before earlier in the day, and though makayla had quickly shot down the idea of her buying one, Makayla wasn't there right now to tell her no again. She told herself that she was only following the woman to figure out which of the balloons was the prettiest, not to actually buy one anyway. There was a Minnie Mouse one that she wanted to buy for Chanel, an Anna and Elsa one that she wanted for Collin, since he hadn't been as lucky as them, and had missed out on meeting them. She decided that the green Mickey one would be perfect for Roman, and that Brooklyn could have the red, and she would get the pink, of course... and before she knew it, the bathroom or concession stand were nowhere in sight. Holly didn't even realize that she had moved so far away, or that she didn't know how to get back to where she was, because employees were now including the street, forcing the guests onto the sidewalk, as a parade was beginning to start. There was no chance that she was going to think back on sitting idley by a bathroom when music was starting and she could sense that something exciting was about to happen. She didn't want to stand and wait for it either, and continued down in the direction that she thought the parade was starting from.

"Wait right there til I get out," Makayla said to Holly. She was tempted to thank Collin and Chanel in advance, but figured that by now, she probably just sounded annoying thanking everyone every two seconds for doing minor things for her sister. Still, she knew that it wasn't always minor, because even if everyone was pretty tolerant of Holly, she could be a handful sometimes. She walked into the bathroom with only saying that, though, figuring that the quicker she got in, the quicker she got out. Disney seemed to be one of the most well-prepared and organized companies, because despite it being a busy season for the parks, with the holidays a week away, other than for the rides (which seemed inevitable), there weren't horrible lines anywhere else, including in the bathroom. Makayla was by the sinks, washing her hands and fixing her hair within a few minutes, and she smiled as Cara made her way to the sink beside her. "I've said it a million times and I know that I'm annoying for it, but I seriously hope you know that I really appreciate you bringing us here," she said, looking away from the mirror momentarily to look at Cara sincerely.

Even if she had been one of the first awake this morning, and even if she didn't feel horrible, Cara was making a point of drinking as much water as possible to keep any leftover hangover symptoms at bay. Given that they were walking around in the warm weather all day, it was all the more needed anyway. When they passed a bathroom, she suggested they stop there before lunch. She was surprised that Holly and Chanel opted to wait outside, but only really because she liked to think that everyone was on the same schedule as her in every single way. She was in the mindset where she felt like she deserved to roll her eyes if either of them wanted to make a detour to use the bathroom in the next hour, as if they were an inconvenience and that her making them stop now wasn't. Regardless, she headed into the bathroom without informing them of that potential consequence, and met Makayla by the sinks a little while after. "Stooooopppppp," she groaned dramatically as she scrubbed her hands with soap, as Makayla thanked her again. "I just wish we had all went sooner. Holly's energy makes everything ten times better, and I feel bad that she never got to go as a kid. I'm glad you guys are having fun. Disney is just, like, a must do," she continued. She remembered her conversation with Chanel from the day before, about trying to act more relateable or appreciative of this trip, even if she didn't need to be, so she was trying to be careful with how she said what she wanted to say. "I seriously love her," she added. "Like, I don't think I've met anyone in my life who appreciates things as much as your sister does." She meant that seriously, and wholesomely. Even if it was still hard for Cara to put herself in other people's shoes, Holly was good at reminding her of how easy and important it was to not take things too seriously, and just appreciate being alive. She could find a reason to compliment someone on just about anything, or turn a bad experience into a good one, and it was admirable.

Makayla nodded, smiling but somewhat unsure of what to say. Cara was right, that Holly was very pure in her emotions and her outtake on life. Cara didn't even know the half of Holly's backstory, so if she knew what her sister had been through, and that she was still so optimistic and pure, she knew that it would only enhance how surprisingly genuine Holly was. It was something that Makayla would never bring up. She was sure that people could guess that both of their upbringings weren't the kindest, and beyond that, it wasn't Makayla's place to be spreading her sister's business around, even if Holly would be the first to absentmindedly do it to her. "Trust me, she loves you too," she eventually said as she stepped over to grab a paper towel to dry her hands. "Can I ask you something, though?" she inquired, her smile growing a few inches with curiosity. "Your dad really doesn't mind us charging all of this food and drinks and stuff to your account?" It was something that she had been genuinely wondering about all morning, as she reflected on the night before. She had never been to Cara's family's house in Manhattan, but she knew that the girl's family owned an apartment in the Upper East Side, and she was pretty sure they had multiple vacation homes too. Even just in her possessions and her way of being, Makayla knew that she was filthy rich, but it was still surreal to her to imagine that someone could spend probably close to a thousand dollars in a day with the amount of food, drinks and souvenirs purchased, and just not think anything of it. It was maddening to think that someone could be that wealthy, when she would feel guilty about spending more than five dollars on a meal.

Following Makayla to dry her hands, Cara had to laugh at Makayla's question. She wanted to say that she dared her dad to have a problem with it, because that was how disrespectful she could be. If he wanted to comment on her spending habits, she would happily remind him that he couldn't complain about her spending habits when she had saved him millions of dollars by forcing him to get a pre-nup when he married his gold digger of a wife. She would tell him how he was lucky that she was spending time with Collin, since she had much better things to do than to go on vacation with him. Luckily, she recognized how spoiled and bratty that would sound, so she just shook her head. "He's the type that goes out to dinner and spends a thousand dollars, so he won't even notice," she said in what she thought was a reassuring manner, though it probably wasn't as rational sounding to Makayla as it was to her.

It made Makayla feel a bit better about spending now, again, that it was confirmed that the Forresters were beyond wealthy, but it still felt like an unbelievable, and impossible-to-relate-to concept. She would take it for what it was though, because it helped her conscience. No one else seemed to feel guilty about Cara's family footing the bill for everything, so Makayla still didn't know why she cared either. She was glad that she had confirmed the money thing now, since she was feeling hungry, and would now feel even less guilty about ordering exactly what she wanted for lunch. As they returned outside, she found Collin and Chanel still sitting on the bench they had left them out, but Holly wasn't there. Makayla wasn't immediately concerned because she figured that Holly had to be in the immediate vicinity, but because Chanel and Collin seemed enthralled in conversation, her eyebrows furrowed slightly. "Hey," she greeted normally, before casually adding, "Where'd she run off to?", in reference to her sister.

"Thanks," Collin said, as he took one of the mints that Chanel offered. He played with it in his fingers for a few seconds, nodding to Holly as she insisted that he make sure that Chanel remain seated as she go get her a water bottle. He wouldn't have objected to her going anyway, because it seemed harmless in letting her run across to a stand that was within their line of sight, but because this was potentially the only time that he would have a minute to talk to Chanel alone, he was all the more willing to let Holly leave. He was clearly underestimating her attention span, which was stupid in itself, but even if Collin knew how Holly could be, it just didn't occur to him that she could get distracted that quickly and wander off. He wasn't even looking in her direction after he saw her get to the stand and join the queue. "I'm surprised that you made it here before me," he laughed, alluding to her state from the night before. He decided that he needed to just cut to the chase and not pretend like nothing had happened, as he continued. "And you know I'm lame, so maybe I'm breaking protocol and am supposed to just pretend like nothing happened, but I just wanted to make sure that... we're cool, you know? After last night? That nothing's gonna be weird now between us, and hopefully, that you're cool with Cara not finding out about what happened?"

Chanel didn't get the chance to stop Holly, only because she was gone within the next second. Granted, she was still within view, but when it was really just her out here, she felt the need to be more hawkeye. It also seemed useless trying to convince the girl that there was absolutely nothing wrong with her, so maybe letting Holly feel as though she was 'curing' her would be the best possible solution for this, since Chanel's own insistence clearly had no weight. Watching her in line for a second, she seemed to be doing pretty okay, but Collin also distracted her from her worrying. Her initial reaction was to smile at his own admittance to be lame, but even as he continued talking and she grew more confused, she kept a polite smile on her face. That was, until the very end when she really had no clue as to what he could be talking about. Her face indicated such as she twisted her face and glanced away, thinking what the fuck? She wasn't going to be so crass, though, and instead just chuckled. "What...is there to find out?" she said, though trying to answer the question herself. She thought harder to their time on the boardwalk, and any uncertainty she had as far as it being him she was with dissipated, only due to his own words. "You were with me on the boardwalk, right? I get super clingy when I'm drunk," she said, shaking her and shrugging. Chanel rolled her eyes as if the information was common knowledge, and nothing worth such sincere worry on his part. "She literally won't care, but okay."

Maybe he was stupid for it, but Collin interpreted Chanel questioning and downplaying what happened as her dismissing it. He quickly told himself that he was clearly overreacting, and that it had meant nothing to her, and therefore, should mean nothing to him either. They were drunk and just being dumb and having fun, and that was it. The only thing he had to object to was when she acted like Cara wouldn't care. Even believing that Chanel remembered everything that happened, he couldn't believe that she genuinely thought Cara wouldn't care if she found out that they had made out and nearly had sex. He laughed quietly, trying to force himself into seeming less worried or concerned than he actually was, as he spoke. "I'm glad one of us is confident that she won't kill us. You see how she acts towards me after hooking up with someone she doesn't even like, so if she found out that we almost... slept together, or whatever," he said, continuing to try to sound nonchalant, "Given that you're her friend, I'm pretty sure I'm more dead than you would be."

Chanel offered a comforting, albeit confused, grin his way as he laughed himself, still evidently concerned over nothing. She shook her head to herself, trying not to laugh at just how polar opposite he was from his do-no-wrong sister. He wasn't sure how they were even raised in the same house. As she fished through her purse for more peppermints, she reminded herself that the same was said about her and her brothers from time to time, but she felt the differences between them weren't so extreme. She turned to him once more when she found the candy, beginning to place the peppermint in her mouth. Just before mid-bite, though, she pulled the mint from her mouth and cocked her head. "What the hell did you just say?"

Still, even as Chanel looked at him with confusion, Collin couldn't tell if she was joking or not. He didn't know if she truly didn't recall what he was talking about, or if she was playing dumb to make him look stupid. It showed just how anxious he could get, and how easy it was for him to overthink even plain interactions like this, but it was hard for him to stop himself from getting that way. "What?" he questioned, smiling in his own confused way, just in case she was trying to joke with him and he just wasn't catching on. "You really don't remember what happened last night?"

For her new friends, it probably seemed completely unprecedented just how quickly angered Chanel was becoming. Her face grew more stern and intense, but it was nowhere near indicative to the fire she felt in her chest. A world of words and emotions was flooding her throat, threatening to pour out in a string of swears and vulgarity, but she was around kids, and she was trying to tell herself that a hasty, perhaps unwarranted, reaction could completely undo her years' work. To her old friends, the ones who really knew, this would be her reacting surprisingly well; her control would be the shock, not her anger. Chanel was impulsive in more ways than one, and going off on people when she was truly upset was one of them. It had been something she'd worked hard no, and up until now, something she thought she had finally overcome, but the urge to lunge at Collin was so strong she questioned if she'd just been wasting her time in New York for the past four years. His words kept running through her head, and each time it did, she grew hotter, as the consequences of such implications made themselves known. This time, she didn't offer him a comforting smile, or even a soft gaze. She stared at him seriously, keeping her mouth closed because she wasn't playing this twenty questions game. At this point, she felt like Collin was just making a joke out of something serious, even if it wasn't in his nature. But the fact that he was asking if she 'really' didn't remember them apparently almost sleeping together was annoying since she didn't think she was giving off any such vibes.

His smile faded pretty quickly as Chanel's face became serious, and as she responded with just a stare (which felt more like a glare), rather than any words. His expression still reflected confusion, but also anxiety too, as he tried to read her, now hoping that she was actually joking and trying to still make him look like the fool. "You really don't remember? We were on the boardwalk, yeah, but then we went back upstairs, and by the time I got out of the bathroom you were on my bed but you passed out, so--" Collin tried to explain himself but cut himself off abruptly when Makayla's voice startled him. Seeing her and his sister meant that this conversation absolutely had to be put off, and he was so caught up in the moment that he nodded to Makayla without even looking to confirm that Holly was still by the concession stand. "She just went to get Chanel a water," he said, pointing across to the stand, and only then looking to see that the line in front of it had disappeared, and Holly wasn't there any more either. His expression changed once again now, from nerves to actual concern, as he looked to Chanel with urgency. "Wasn't she just right there? Literally two minutes ago," he said, getting to his feet as his eyes scanned the immediate area. Though he was still convinced that Holly had to be somewhere right there, probably doing something dumb like chasing a butterfly around the corner, he felt the urgency in the mere sense that he was sure Makayla was going to be pissed, even if they had only misplaced her for that second.

She sat on her hand when Collin, again, asked if she really didn't remember, because she couldn't trust that that very hand wouldn't let itself on the side of his face. She'd maintained her hard gaze on him, but as soon as he began detailing what had happened, she turned ahead and closed her eyes, seemingly praying. When he cut himself off, though, and she heard Makayla's voice, she didn't immediately return to usual Chanel. In fact, it took a second to register her question, only because she was confused by it since she was of the understanding that Holly was right there. Going by Collin's own confusion, and when she saw that the girl was in fact not at the stand anymore, her agitation returned. "Why the hell are you asking me, Collin, when you clearly have all the answers, huh?" Surely to the other girls, Chanel's reaction seemed over the top, and Collin would be the only one to get the undertones, but since he was apparently dumber than he looked, there was a slim chance on that one. Chanel stood up herself, shuffling past Collin to reassure that Holly was definitely not there. She went over to the stand herself before coming back, shaking her head, pressing her palm to her forehead. "Makayla, I am so sorry. Fuck." She groaned and took a deep breath, angry for many reasons now. "I'll find her, okay? She couldn't have gotten that far."

Cara followed Makayla out of the bathroom, smiling as they returned to the others. She didn't immediately take notice to Holly's absence, but Makayla was quick to point it out. Her eyes followed Collin's gesture towards an empty concession stand, and that quickly had her frowning. It only grew once Collin seemed to frantically explain that she was just there, before asking Chanel for confirmation. The anger in her tone was noted in Cara's part, but because it was so easy for her to feed off of other people's energy when she wanted to blame someone for something, she didn't even consider that it was misplaced, and instead, jumped on that bandwagon as she glared at her brother. "She's right," she snapped, as if she knew what Chanel was referring to about him having all of the answers, when she obviously hadn't heard a bit of their conversation. "Were you not sitting here too this whole time? You couldn't have just been a decent person and watched her, instead of wallowing in your self-pity about having a little headache, Collin?" she said. Her own reaction probably seemed dramatic and harsh too, but with how their sibling relationship worked, Cara would never miss an opportunity to bash her brother for a wrongdoing. She looked to Makayla then, mirroring Chanel's tone once more, but apologizing for Collin's actions rather than her own. "This is Collin's fault, trust me. I should have warned you guys that he can't be trusted with anything," she said. Had Chanel not been eager to snap at Collin for her own reasons that were unknown to Cara, then there would have been a 50/50 chance that Cara would have blamed Chanel or Cara. Being able to gang up on him with Chanel immediately made the decision easier for her, in favor of her blaming Collin, but the mere fact that her decisions were so easily swayed spoke to how unfair she could be sometimes.

She looked back at Collin quickly, though her glare clearly read, "you better find her unless you want me to kill you", before looking to Makayla once more. "She's probably right here somewhere. I know we were talking about buying a blanket she had seen earlier. I'll go look in the stores over there to see if maybe that's where she went," she said, placing a hand on her shoulder reassuringly, but dropping it as she turned away to follow up on the possible lead. "Text me if you guys find her first," she called out, not slowing her pace. Though she was downplaying the severity of this, she knew good and well from her own interactions with Holly that it was just as likely that she was on the complete opposite side of the big park by now, that it was that she was only a few feet away, out of sight. Holly could get distracted so quickly and so easily, and she was also so naive and gullible, that the possibility of her getting lost or even abducted had crossed Cara's mind multiple times before when she took her out into the more crowded areas of Manhattan. Getting kidnapped in a crowded place like Disney World, with so much security and so many people, seemed hard and unlikely, and even if it was enormously more likely that she had just wandered off, with Holly, you could never be too sure. It was always better to expect the unexpected with her, and Cara was baffled that her brother was so moronic to not know that by now.

"No, no... it's not anyone's fault," Makayla was quick to reply when Chanel apologized, and then Cara insisted it was acually her brother's fault. Even if she did have grounds to blame Chanel or Collin for letting Holly run off, she would never do so. It all went back to her mentality of disliking the idea that anyone was responsible for her well-being (and in turn, Holly's), other than herself. She would blame herself before she would blame either of them, because even if it was indirectly expected that they would make sure that Holly didn't get into any trouble for the couple of minutes that Makayla was in the bathroom, Makayla still felt like Holly was ultimately her responsibility. Chanel and Collin weren't paid to be babysitters, and she told herself that she should have just forced Holly to come into the bathroom and wait in there for her, even if she didn't have to use the bathroom herself. It was times like these where she reminded herself that despite public opinion (or what she thought public opinion was), she wasn't dramatic for not giving Holly all of the freedoms that most kids her age had. This was a perfect example of how in many ways, she was like a small child who had such a small attention span that it took literal seconds for them to disappear.

Holly wasn't a small child though, and even if Makayla recognized that she had limitations that were out of her control, she also knew that Holly needed to be treated like a teenager in some ways, so that she could grow. She couldn't just run off, or cause trouble, and expect no consequences, because it would only enable her to continue to be irresponsible and reckless and dependent. That was why while Cara and Chanel and Collin shuffled the blame around, Makayla initially told herself that she was to blame, but also reminded herself that the person who also deserved blame for this inconvenience was Holly herself. She better hope she was kidnapped, because she's about to leave this park in a body bag if I find her in some damn gift shop, she thought, and though she wouldn't say that aloud, she would still refuse to let the others take blame for this.

Despite her anger in the moment, her chest was definitely tight with anxiety too because yes, while she was sure that Holly had just run off to do something stupid, like look in a gift shop as Cara had suggested, Holly was her responsibility, and basically her child. Maybe her maternal instinct wasn't exactly the same as a biological mother would have for their child, but in their situation, Makayla was damn sure that her maternal instinct for Holly was a lot stronger than Holly's actual mother's was. With that, along with the annoyance that she felt at the moment, there was definitely a wave of anxiety too over the idea of Holly being lost and unsure how to find them. With Cara going in one direction, and Chanel in another, Makayla found it only suitable to go in a different direction to cover as much ground as possible. Though she knew, like Cara, that Holly could be anywhere by now, she also knew that Holly was loud and easy to spot in a crowd, so she hoped that that would play in their favor now.

Maybe he was victimizing himself more than he realized, but Collin didn't think that he deserved the sudden and unexpected firestorm that started from Chanel, but mostly then came from Cara, once it was made clear that Holly was lost. His mouth fell agape, as if he was tempted to say something and object to being vilified, but everyone dispersed so quickly that he didn't have time to clear his name. He should have watched Holly closer, he knew, but she was right there! Right across from them, just a minute or two ago! And on top of that, she was so insistent on getting Chanel water, that he really wouldn't have imagined that she would have gotten sidetracked so easily. He wasn't going to voice that aloud for a few reasons. For one, the girls were all already going off in various directions. Additionally, he doubted that any excuses would help his case, and on top of that, he was sure that claiming that Holly wouldn't have disappeared on her own free will wasn't going to ease anyone's concern. As he always thought, Makayla was the type of person to have an inner aggression to her that he didn't want to see, so he knew to keep his mouth shut. He stood stuck in place for a minute, truly bewildered by what had just occurred, and unsure if he should split up too and try to find her, but without thinking, he found himself running after Chanel to catch up with her.

"What the hell was that about?" he asked with a surprising amount of annoyance in his voice, given that he was usually more meek than that. "One: letting me take the heat for that when you know just as well as I do that she was right there two fucking seconds ago, and two: freaking out on me like that. Should I have just not brought up last night? I always thought you were supposed to address stuff like that after it happened to clear the air. Didn't realize it would piss you off," he said, not realizing that now probably wasn't the most appropriate time to flesh out what had caused the both of them to become so distracted in the first place. He didn't realize that it probably seemed selfish to continue talking about this and his own feelings and needs when Holly was lost, and that was supposed to be the new focus, but this was also something that was so new and unexpected for him, that it was impossible to think about anything else, even as he followed Chanel in her plight to find the girl.

Chanel had moved in the opposite direction of Cara, walking a briskly through the crowd. She was overwhelmed with everything that had happened in the past two minutes, and so hearing Collin coming up right behind was no help. Their...whatever it was...was the absolute last thing she wanted to talk about. Chanel didn't enjoy struggle of any kind. She didn't like being uncomfortable. She didn't like have problems, and when she was going through any of those, they needed to be dealt with and managed on her terms and hers only. So Collin forcing the conversation still, and quite frankly being a bitch, had her slowing in her tracks. His tone and word choice had her looking around the park, but this time not for Holly, and for whoever it was he thought he was talking to. Chanel was already on the edge, but now she'd been pushed into old territory and she didn't really care too much about tainting her cherry sweet image at the moment. She turned to face her, placing her hand on his chest as she backed him up some, seemingly putting him in his place. "Hold up now. Who the hell do you think you're talking to?" She said, completely serious before she began laughing incredulously. "Because I pray you weren't speaking out of your ass like that to me. Because I know you're not talking to me. I just know you wouldn't be that fucking stupid, Collin." It was probably a bit creepy how quickly she switched attitudes, and how she was being so threatening while wearing a smile on her face.

"But you know what? It's fine. It really is. I'm going to answer your stupid fucking questions since this is clearly about you. Because otherwise I might just find my hand across your face. What the hell was that about? You seriously just--ugh!" Chanel took a few steps back then, turning around because she was sure that if she looked at him for a second longer he'd end up with missing teeth. There were very few times when Chanel couldn't handle Chanel. She could handle positive high energy, but negative high energy quickly made her unravel because she was just that bad at handling stress. When she turned back to Collin, her hands were folded together, as if in prayer. "First off, no one is thinking about you and your fucking feelings. Why? Because two, Holly is lost because three, you thought it would be a good idea to casually tell me that we what? Almost slept together? And you can't seem fathom why you, a guy, telling me, a girl, that kind of shit wouldn't leave her totally happy? You're an idiot, and you can be offended. But since you want to talk about this so badly, then fucking talk. Tell me how the hell any of that happened? Because you were clearly nowhere near as drunk as I was if I can't remember half of the night and you seem to remember everything. Which means you weren't too drunk to know what you were doing or that I wasn't being myself, Collin,. You're a shitty person. I mean, you can't even see why I'm upset? What role you play in this?" she said, her voice breaking against her will. She wasn't going to cry, only because she'd told herself no more tears for this year; she'd cried enough. But if she could jump into a hole and disappear for the rest of the day, she'd definitely have a breakdown. Not just because she was mad at Collin for being such a boy about this, but because she was genuinely scared. It wasn't to say that Collin was the type to take advantage of girls like that, but you heard of things like that and worse everyday. Even if the odds were in a girl's favor, the first thing her mind would go to would be that she had been in trouble. Chanel clearly didn't know that Collin, too, had been incredibly drunk, but she still couldn't believe that he had somehow had so much to drink to not know what he was doing, yet still remember everything from the night before. She was clearly coming from a place of fear, and when she was scared, she got angry so that she felt a tougher in the situation than was actually true. She didn't like feeling as though she was at someone else's mercy, but that was how it essentially felt now. Not only because she was completely relying on Collin for the truth of the night before, but also because she didn't think she could trust him. Because if they did hook up last night, then he certainly wasn't the person she thought he was, which meant that he was all the less credible.

On top of that, if what Collin was saying was sure, there was more than just having to deal with the guilt and obvious consequences of whatever it was they had done. To her, it would mean a complete restart. A Year 0. Because now she was back to old Chanel who had no morals or boundaries and went around getting shitfaced and making stupid decisions that ended friendships. While she was grown enough to admit her own role in it--or as much as she could since she still didn't really know what had happened yet--she would also blame Collin because if he was taken out of the equation, all of her hard work rebranding herself wouldn't have gone down the drain. She wanted him to be playing a sick, cruel joke, which was why she was painting him as an absolutely awful person, in the hopes that that would somehow increase the chances of him actually doing something so unlike him. If it was a joke, she could move on from that. She'd still be pissed, but it'd be a lot easier than dealing with what she knew was the truth. Chanel cleared her throat, taking a deep breath. In that long monologue, she'd tired herself out, and it was clear in her voice. The hard anger had melted away enough to expose the worry and frustration she felt. "Is that what you do? You just sleep with girls to make yourself feel better. You did it with Brooklyn, what? This month? Are you serious? Oh my god." she said, laughing at her realization. "You are seriously a slut. A spineless slut who uses girls as body counts and depends on his whole puppy woe-is-me thing to get him out of trouble. I used to think it was so weird how you and Cara were nothing alike, but now I definitely see how you're related because neither of you can take responsibility for your actions, but you're always the victim, right?" She ran her hand over her face, realizing she needed to take a second to breathe. "But no, go ahead. Explain yourself, Collin. Tell me what the fuck happened" she said, this time a notable, almost worrisome, calmness to her. "But let me tell you now: come at me correct."

Although Collin expected Chanel to respond with emotion and anger, since she had pretty much done so in her response before, he definitely was not expecting it at the level that she sent it at him. He had never seen Chanel in this way before, and doubted that any of the others had either, so it left him feeling all the more unsettled and bothered by it. Not only was she not the girl that he was hanging out with last night, but she wasn't the girl that he had known for a couple of years. She was entirely different, a complete one-eighty. "Are you... serious?" he answered, after looking at her for a long minute, as if he was trying to figure out who she was. His expression reflected the offense and disgust he was feeling as he continued to look at her. "You're accusing me of... assaulting you, or trying to?" he questioned. "Do you even..." he allowed his thought to trail off then, knowing then that just as Chanel seemed to think that he was a completely different person than she knew, that the same could be said of her. He understood that she was shocked, and genuinely didn't remember what had happened last night now. He understood that that had to feel scary and unsettling, but he couldn't be empathetic or even sympathetic to how quickly her personality flipped. Being angry and upset and asking questions was one thing, but to slander his character and accuse him of something so serious was beyond something that he was willing to humor.

"You know what," he said, shaking his head, because this was the end of this conversation. He could have said more and fueled something more volatile between them, but given the setting of this argument, it was probably better that he decided against it. " I'm sorry for even bringing this up. You're clearly not the person that I thought you were if you think that I would ever do something like that to anyone, so I'm not going to even bother engaging in this with you here." Even if he did want to continue and tell Chanel off, right now, he didn't even know what to say. He was just as shocked as she was, and he wasn't vicious enough to even attempt to express how he was feeling. He wasn't a confrontational person, and if this hadn't come with the shock factor that it did, he wouldn't have even engaged in the argument this far. "I guess I'll go find Holly by myself," he said, stopping in his tracks. "Wouldn't want you to forget making a move on me and claim that I tried to assault you, so consider last night forgotten. I won't bring it up again, and if you wanna think whatever you think happened, happened, go for it. I'm not gonna even defend myself against shit like that."

It made sense that Collin would be offended with Chanel's insinuation, which wasn't something she could objectively admit right now. All she could see was that his level of offense compared to what she was feeling was out of line because he wasn't trying to see why she was freaking out. He wasn't trying to understand that girls are constantly assaults by their closest friends and family, and that those are the ones most like to enact the assault. The reality was that girls were being punched and stabbed and murdered for even saying no to a guy. What put an even bigger taste in her mouth was the fact that he tried framing himself as more of a victim than he actually was. Was it so wild that girl who'd blacked out would jump to those conclusions when that complete was prewritten for her since birth? She couldn't say that she was surprised, though, and her eye roll made that very clear. She had vilified him, but not unjustly. To be honest, she didn't know Collin like that. And while he couldn't know this much, she didn't have a good relationship with men. Of course, given the way the social system was set up, she couldn't and didn't expect him to understand or even know half of what she was feeling. The fact that he was so defensive also rubbed her the wrong way because it made him seem not only incredibly unsympathetic, but guilty. In all, he didn't make any sense. How her rightful concern of something happening without her full consent suddenly warranted against her personality was beyond her. Of course, Collin was coming with the full picture and didn't seem to comprehend, or want to comprehend, that the gray areas were very gray, and nine times out of ten were never in the woman's favor. For Collin, he knew he was incredibly drunk, but not so drunk to where he was making rational decisions. But for Chanel, that comparison wasn't there. The only thing she knew was that she remembered nothing and he remembered everything, which reasonably meant that he hadn't that much to drink. She didn't go to the conclusion that he was that drunk, but she was that drunk and so much more.

It would be a lie to say she didn't understand where he was coming from or why. Collin probably never needed to defend himself in a serious sense a day in his life, and he had the assets to essentially make himself untouchable in this world that favored and was for wealthy white men. The reality was that even though he didn't do anything, he could. And his minimization of the situation either meant he was so unaware of of this power or was aware but wanted to unwrite himself from the conversation. She wasn't sure which was worse or scarier, but it was frustrating that she was completely powerless in this situation. She was powerless in this specific instance because she was reliant on the truth through someone else, but in a larger social aspect; it was all a slap in the face, but the sting had long since faded. She wasn't going to waste her time coddling his feelings, because his feelings were nowhere close to what she was experiencing. The feeling of being accused of assault was incomparable to the sensation of not knowing whether or not something had happened to you.

Her personality had abruptly changed, and she didn't think about how unsettling it probably was because her mind was only focused on what was directly in front of her. It was focused on the fact that as soon as she brought up a reasonable concern--albeit not in the best, but you surely couldn't police someone's approach with a thing like this, implying that they are only due respect if they themselves are respectable--he no longer wanted to talk about it. It was the telltale story of hard conversations only being initiated and facilitated on the time and energy and desire of those who benefit from ignoring their own privilege. A guy not wanting to talk about sexual assault was nothing new. Chanel wasn't any further angered, if anything, she was dulled out because it was the same thing yet again. Chanel wasn't the person he thought he knew because she had so vehemently stuck up for herself, opposite her very sweet demeanor. Collin wasn't the person she thought he was because he was everything she knew him to be. But, like her, his sweet demeanor had clouded that. The biggest difference there was that with him, it just reaffirmed an old truth, which was like getting used to a numbed wound before the medicine faded away. Chanel swiftly looked Collin up and down and chuckled, finding it funny that he was giving her permission to believe what she believed. "Like you'd ever have to a day in your life, love," she said, in reference to his refusal to defend himself. "But you're clearly used to guys grabbing and yelling at you and trying to take advantage of you. And you not being able to do anything about it because no one will believe you and you'll end up being the perpetrator. Because the criminal's feelings are more important than the person's right to their own body. So yeah, my bad. I forgot how you're the victim in the situation, Collin." He had already been on the track towards leaving, but had stopped for his final remark. She encouraged his leaving with a flick of her hand. "But go along. Be a hero. Your entitled ass clearly needs it. Well, actually," she said after a thought. "I was heading this way. You were following...as you do. So..." She moved passed him, purposely bumping shoulders with him and continued in the direction she was going. Though she was no longer verbally freaking out, inside she was still enraged, and what she really wanted to do, more than anything, was pour hot water at him and yell at him for being a stupid, ignorant boy.

In what was probably his smartest move in this conversation, Collin kept his mouth shut. It wasn't for the smart reason of that he didn't want to continue to add fuel to the fire, though. Like Chanel, he was too caught up in only seeing this situation from his own point of view. There were too many emotions involved, and he wasn't interested in setting those aside for a moment to consider what she was saying, and how it obviously made sense for her to be scared. She was comparing him to a criminal, and accusing him of heinous things, but if he was in a clearer state of mind himself, he would have been able to understand that she was overrun with emotions too, and that that in itself excused what she was saying. Collin was normally someone who could be empathetic, and who took other's emotions and feelings into consideration before his own, so if he hadn't been so caught off guard, and also so inexperienced in this realm of things, he genuinely would have reacted in a more compassionate and tolerant way. Right now, he just couldn't clear his mind enough to allow that side of himself to come through. He kept his mouth shut, instead, because he had decided that this conversation wasn't worth his anger.

Although he was dramatic enough, and as Cara had put it, ready to wallow in his self-pity, enough to consider just turning around and going back to the hotel right now (or maybe returning to the boardwalk to start drinking this early), he knew that they had to find Holly first. It it didn't seem like Cara and Makayla were covering the opposite areas, he would have left Chanel's side, but at this point, he felt like he had to continue looking with her where they were. The way she brushed past him physically tested him more, but he only rolled his eyes. She was... something else. That was the nicest thing that Collin could think at the moment, and though he didn't make any effort to catch up with her, he continued behind her. It was probably a waste of time, in itself, for him to even continue with her, because with how caught up he was in his own mind, Holly could have crossed right in front of him and he wouldn't have even noticed.

Chanel was still fuming, even before she realized Collin was traveling behind her. And, of course, with her luck, she was feeling the need to use the restroom. She tried silencing her mind because that was the best thing for everyone. What she really wanted more than anything else was to find a spa and some snacks and just call it a day. Not only was she overcome with the pandemonium of emotions that interacting with Collin had brought, but she was also feeling incredibly stupid and frustrated and guilty over losing Holly. She told herself that this wasn't entirely her fault, though, and placed a significant amount of the blame on Collin. It wasn't for the same reasons as Cara, but it wasn't to say, either, that she was totally in the right herself. Chanel told herself that if Collin hadn't distracted her with those issues that he felt was necessary to bring up in the middle of Magic Kingdom, for whatever reason, Holly would be right next to them and the group wouldn't be scattered throughout the park. When she looked behind her, she saw Collin trailing behind, quick to roll her eyes at the sight of him before turning around. It didn't take her long to assume that he was only hanging around because they both needed to find Holly, but Chanel still thought that Disney was a big enough place that him going in an opposite direction wouldn't have harmed their chance at finding her.

Chanel's brisk pace and doubly rapid heart rate due to all the panic she was feeling depleted her energy fast. She wasn't out of shape by any means, but she was getting thirsty and hungry a lot quicker, so as she scanned the streets, she also kept a look out for a food stand. When she found one, she veered in its direction. She folded her arms, and after standing in line for a few seconds, she realized she was still glowering, so she made the conscious effort to relax her face. Not because she was trying to overcome her anger--she was in that stage where you were so angry that you didn't want to even try to feel better--but because she wasn't trying to get wrinkles prematurely. The unneeded stress was surely already taking a toll on her skin. She reminded herself to tell Cara they needed to find a spa ASAP because she was in need of a total detox. It could have been because she was feeling particularly impatient, what with her need to find Holly as quickly as possible, even though not that much time had passed, she quickly grew annoyed with her slow the line was moving. There was a family currently being taken care of. They had four small, and--most notably--indecisive--children with them. It seemed like they were ordering for the whole park with how slow they were going. Amidst her annoyance, she realized that she couldn't really be the one rushing them when she hadn't even looked at the menu. A quick gloss over and she decided she'd grab a turkey leg, just because she wanted to hate herself and breakout three days later and having something else to blame Collin for. While she was on her self-sabotaging kick, she even considered getting popcorn as well. She wanted to get a lemonade, but knew she didn't need it, and water would help her much more with conquering this everlasting thirst she couldn't seem to get rid of no matter what she did.

Holly returned at the most random time, and in the most random way, but what more could be expected from Holly? She had managed to disappear in an unexpected way, at an unexpected time, so it shouldn't have been shocking that she would resurface in such a way, either. Cara breathed a sigh of relief when her high-pitched voice rang out as she shoved between her and Roman, though she would be lying if she claimed that part of the relief didn't come from how Holly had luckily come just after she had kissed Roman, and not during it. "Oh my God, thank goodness you're here," Cara said, as she pulled Holly towards her for an embrace. She quickly remembered the annoying man who was the reason she was standing there to begin with, and like Roman, knew that now was their best bet at getting the hell out of there. The last thing they needed was for him to pry any further, especially since she was sure that Holly would actually be the type to enjoy conversation with someone like this. With a hand pressed against Holly's back, she guided her a few feet behind Roman to an area just off the main circle by the castle.

It took some restraint for her not to glare at Roman as he questioned Holly on where she had been, only because it would have been typical of her to feel like he was being too mean when dealing with her. She was wondering the same question, so she only looked to Holly inquisitively, though her attention was redirected when an unfamiliar woman approached them and Roman walked off with her to take a photo. "Holly, you had me scared to death," she said, standing in front of her and taking Holly's free hand in hers before squeezing it. "You know you can't just run off like that without telling anyone where you were going. Makayla's probably upset with you, don't you think?" she pressed, her voice probably too sweet and coddling than Holly deserved at the moment, but it was hard for Cara to be the bad guy when it came to her. She wanted to prep Holly for Makayla's anger, and the possible anger of the others, but she didn't want to be one to actually show those feelings, partly because she wasn't angry at Holly. As noted before, Cara would be much more likely to blame what was obviously wrong on Holly's part, on Collin and Chanel. "We were worried that something happened to you. There are so many people here that even if you run off for just a second, it becomes really hard to find you."

"Well it wasn't hard for me to find you guys! Your hair is shiny and blonde and Roman has tattoos!" Holly offered, clearly not bothered or even really processing that they had been seriously looking for her. She probably was lucky enough that she had found Cara and Roman, over Brooklyn and Makayla, because it was definitely more likely that her peppiness would have been squashed on the spot if she had encountered the others first. "And I did tell Chanel and Collin where I was going!" she remembered, as she squirmed her hand out of Cara's grip to wave the bag that was hanging from her arm, holding the two water bottles she had purchased earlier. "Chanel needed water because she's sick, and I told them I was going to get her some, and they said that was okay." She wasn't completely lying, but obviously buying water in a store in a completely different area of the park was different from her original plan of buying it from the food cart that was just feet away from where the duo were sitting.

"Did they?" Cara didn't actually believe that Chanel and Collin would be so dumb, but she played along, because even if she felt like Holly was skewing the story, she wouldn't have been surprised if it wasn't that far off from the truth "Well, they should have went with you. You know that Makayla doesn't like you being off on your own, and this is why. We've been looking for you for a long time." In order to lift the mood, even slightly, after a glance at her phone, she added, "But we still have time to make our reservation. Enjoy a few more licks of that lollipop because you need to throw it out before your sister gets here." She suspected that Makayla would already be angry with Holly, and seeing that she had been so unconcerned with things that she had time to buy candy would probably only make things even worse. "Sit," she said, pointing to the concrete divider they were by. "I'm going to text the others to tell them to meet us at the restaurant." She turned her back slightly to Holly, as if she needed to face away to focus on what she was writing, as she turned her attention to her phone for a moment. Reverting back to her old self suddenly, she decided that she didn't want to be associated with Roman, so she opted to pretend that they weren't together. She considered sending Makayla a separate text for a moment after the initial one, and she ultimately decided that it was a good idea.

To: Brooklyn, Chanel, Collin, Makayla, Roman
I found Holly. Meet you guys at Be Our Guest in 5!!!

To: Makayla
Please don't be mad at her! She didn't mean it and she knows that she was wrong and she's sorry. I really want everyone to have fun and I don't want anyone to be upset :/!!!

Holly had initially sat down on command, deciding to take advantage of the few minutes she had left to finish her lollipop without objection. There was no way that she would actually come close to finishing it, but she would get bored of eating it sooner than later anyway, so she didn't complain about the verdict. It was only a few seconds after she had sat down though, that she was back on her feet, and moving once again. She had seen someone who she was positive was Chanel walking towards the castle, and Holly wouldn't let Chanel move another feet without drinking the water that she had purchased especially for her! She was going to pass out! She was going to die! The only real similarity between this girl and Chanel was their hair style, and how the girl was tall and thin and sporting Minnie ears. Her skin was a couple of shades darker than Chanel's and her outfit was different, but Holly didn't give herself enough time to consider any of that before she was sprinting towards the girl. "Chanel! Chanel! I got your water!" she called out, weaving in between people to reach the girl.[/font]

Brooklyn could admit that the Be Our Guest Restaurant was cute. She had never been there before, and though she was unsure if it even existed years ago when she visited with her family, she doubted that her parents would have taken her there even if it had. They lived comfortably, but not lavishly. A vacation to Disney was expensive in itself, so they usually stuck with the more affordable dining options at the parks. Had she been there as a child, she knew that she would have been mesmerized by the idea of dining in a place that looked like it could have come straight out of the Beauty and the Beast movie.

"I know Makayla needs a glass of wine, so are we getting a bottle for the table, or are you two still shaken up from the two beers that knocked you out last night?" she asked, looking over her menu with a small smirk at Chanel and Collin. "Collin's treating you and Makayla to a spa trip after lunch, by the way," she continued, her eyes focusing in on Chanel then. In both of her comments, it was clearly apparent that she didn't know that there was bad blood between Collin and Chanel, but then again, even if she had known that, there was no saying whether that would have actually stopped her from making the comments or not. "And if you say no, just know that you're going to be at the top of the suicide note when Makayla kills herself, so don't be that person," she added, as her eyes casually returned to the menu.

Only a few minutes had passed since the four of them had been seated, but Brooklyn still had to comment on the late arrival of Roman, Cara and Holly once they got there. It wasn't surprising in itself, simply because once Cara had claimed to have found Holly, she assumed they would take a bit longer to get there. Even if Cara had made it seem like she had done it alone, Brooklyn was privy to the idea that Roman was with them, since he had been the one to tip her off to Holly being lost in the first place, and that meant that he had to be with one of the others. Although she was very tempted to add fire to the fuel between Holly and Makayla and provoke Holly first, the heart that she hid so well still felt bad for Makayla, so she didn't egg that on just yet. Cara was the second best target, so as she adjusted her face and tone to seem innocent and simply concerned, she smiled at them. "If we want to make the best of this trip, I think that it's really important that we all try to remain on time for planned things like this lunch reservation," she said, mimicking something that she was sure Cara would say had anyone else been late.

"Maybe if Cara didn't seriously lose Holly five seconds after we found her," Roman said.

Brooklyn laughed, shaking her head as her eyes returned to her menu. "Typical Cara," she said, as if she really knew Cara well enough to claim that. "Every group needs that one person who can't keep it together." Again, she was tempted to say something to Holly about disappearing, but she kept her mouth shut for Makayla's benefit. She didn't even make eye contact with the girl, and though she was never all overly loving with Holly, she felt like that in itself was a good way of showing her that what she did wasn't going to be entertained or brushed off as being okay. "Back to my question: are we ordering a bottle of wine for the table?"

Makayla was still feeling overwhelmed and anxious, but once Cara texted in the group that she had found Holly, she was able to relax a little. It wasn’t like she had expected Holly to truly be missing and in danger, but the duration of time that she had been missing still felt like it was dragging on for longer than was necessary, so the confirmation that this was over was comforting. She was about to text Cara back to thank her, when a separate text came through from Cara, outside of the group chat. Makayla knew that Cara meant well when she asked her not to act callously towards Holly. She understood that it would make things awkward and uncomfortable for everyone, and that was why she wasn’t planning on unleashing a wrath on Holly that felt deserved. Not only was she angry right now, but she was tired too, and that tiredness was taking control and promoting the idea of just letting things go until she was back home. Having Cara try to add in her word of advice was unnecessary though, and irked Makayla whether that was deserved or not. Rather than tell Cara she wasn’t going to snap on Holly, and let her believe that it was her voice that made Makayla “change her mind” about that, or send Cara some message about how she appreciated the advice, but didn’t need it, she didn’t answer the text. She sent out a simple “thank you, see you there” in the group chat so that she didn’t seem ungrateful or impolite, and followed Brooklyn to the restaurant.

They arrived at a similar time as Collin and Chanel which was helpful, because while Brooklyn probably would have been fine with asserting herself and sitting at the table without one of the Forresters present, Makayla wouldn’t have wanted to without one of them there. They were seated quite quickly though, and being able to just sit down and relax felt needed once she did. She was still pondering the spa trip that Brooklyn was seemingly forcing her into. While she knew that it was something that would probably really help her, if she already felt like she was abusing Cara and Collin’s kindness with this trip in itself, she knew that that would push her past feeling guilty. Then again, she probably was going to end up snapping on Holly and “upsetting” Cara at some point if she didn’t get a few hours to herself, be it at the spa or just in the room taking a nap, so she weighed the possibility that her going to the spa might be better for everyone. She didn’t need Chanel to come along, though she wouldn’t have minded the company to make her feel like she was abusing the generosity less, since someone else was doing it too, so when Brooklyn brought it up at the table, she tried to address it in the most unbiased way. She ignored the inappropriateness in Brooklyn’s reference to suicide, as she said, “You don’t have to come if you don’t want to. Not trying to pull you away from the fun, but she made the appointment for two for after lunch, so just know that you’re welcome if you feel like it.”

She had begun to scan over the menu in front of her too, when the rest of the group arrived. They all looked a bit frazzled, but then again, Makayla was in a state of mind where she was at that point, so it could have just been her own vibes altering her perception of the others to make her feel better. Although her eyes roved over Holly for a few seconds, she eventually looked away without acknowledging her sister. Call it petty, but Holly was lucky that she was being addressed, because Makayla had nothing nice to say to her right now. “Thank you guys for finding her,” she said, looking to Cara and Roman and passing over Roman’s comment about Cara losing her right after she had been found. She didn’t think the comment held any weight coming from Roman, since it was clear he and Cara weren’t great friends to begin with. Besides, all that Makayla really cared about right now was that Holly was found and the day could go on. Later, or maybe not until they were back in New York if this spa trip really helped her, she would deal with Holly disappearing not once, but twice.

While part of her felt like drinking was a bad idea, a glass of wine was never harmful. It wasn’t like she was drinking liquor, and it also wasn’t like she had gotten out of control last night, even when she was drinking liquor. At this point, wine was going to be the only thing that would keep her from taking Brooklyn up on the offer of Xanaxs, but she didn’t want that to be obvious. “I’ll have a glass if everyone else is getting some, but if no one else is drinking, I’ll probably just get water.”

If being suddenly jerked away from the people she had been talking to hadn't been enough to make Holly cry, then maybe it was surprising that she was on the verge of tears when Cara approached. It was being called a pain in the ass" that had set her off. She was sensitive by nature, but there was no rhyme or reason for why that upset her more than how Roman had acted a minute before. Granted, being called that, and then having her waters and ears stolen pushed Roman out of the category of being "mean", and into the category of being a heartless villain in her eyes. She didn't say anything to him, only stood watching him with a frown on her face as her eyes welled up with tears, and it was a wonder that they didn't flood over when Cara returned and told her that she was lucky that Roman found her before Makayla. In what was a rare occasion for Holly, she didn't have anything to say, and didn't say anything. In fact, she remained entirely silent on the walk back to the restaurant, and after Cara's reference to lice, and how she tended to take things literally, she didn't even have it in her to put the ears back on her head.

It was only suddenly setting in that they were acting like Makayla and everyone else was going to be angry at her. She disliked being yelled at or made fun of to begin with, but that, on top of being told that she was ruining everyone else's day made her heart hurt. Holly didn't think of herself as being annoying, and she wouldn't pick up on social cues in the moment to realize that she was being annoying, but she had been called it enough times to know that she didn't want to be annoying. It was always too late once she found out that she was being annoying for her to stop the behavior, but that didn't mean that she acted that way on purpose. She was just excited and energetic. It was really as harmless at that. Sure, at sixteen, it became harder to rationalize behavior like what she had just exhibited, but quite simply, her mind had not caught up to her biological age. It was probably possible that she could become more "normal", but it would take intensive, or at least regular, therapy, and it was something that Holly had no interest in. When Makayla had first become her legal guardian, she had tried therapy. She had been put on medication, was seeing a psychiatrist regularly, and was seeing her school's psychologist once a week in addition to that. While Holly enjoyed most activities, especially ones that involved individualized attention, therapy was not a place that she thrived in. She didn't want to talk about what had happened to her growing up. Not even for a minute. She was smart enough to know when she was being tricked into indirectly talking about things through their methods and games, and she just shut down. She wasn't ready to reopen wounds that were still so fresh and painful. She wanted to be able to talk about what happened without having to mention how much it hurt. She wanted to be able to heal, and care for those wounds, without reopening them, and to reference the pain without inviting it to consume her again. It had been too hard though, and ultimately, she got to a point where she refused to go. Not thinking about her past had proved to be so much easier for her mentally. Clearly, it wasn't good for any development, or any long-term sustainability, but it was a method of survival for her.

Even if clinging to this youthful side in a very subconscious way was her way of preserving herself, it was ultimately doing more harm than good. It meant that she still felt her emotions in very strong ways, where she could become easily excited over anything, but just as strongly and emotionally upset when something triggered that. It was why the idea of everyone hating her, even if it was somewhat unfounded, had her ready to cry as she took a seat between Brooklyn and Chanel at the lunch table. "Roman drank the water I bought you, and he ruined my Minnie ears, and he said everyone hates me," she said quietly, turning to Chanel in an impulsive manner, as if she had been contemplating remaining silent, but had abruptly changed her mind. What she claimed that Roman said wasn't true, but she wasn't even saying it in the mindset of purposely lying. She had spun what he had said into that, so it was what she believed her said, or at least meant, now. "So if you're thinking about moving out when we get back home, please don't because we don't want to live alone, and I'll never try on your perfume again when you're not home."

It was a relief to get that text from Cara, not only because it meant that she could stop freaking out about Holly, but because she could perhaps move on with her day. It was one stressor off the list of many, though, so even by the time they were seated in the restaurant, she still felt off. Not stressed in the same way as when no one knew were Holly went. There was an anxiousness in her bones; a jittery, ominous feeling. She was still trying to silence her mind, but the more she tried, the harder it fought back. The internal battle with herself made her a bit more spacy on the outside. It wasn't really noticeable; she was just keeping to herself. While it was no secret that she was one of the liveliest ones of the bunch, she did have her moments where she wasn't talking the entire time. Of course, this time it wasn't for the usual variances in energy or conversation, but because of what went down with her and Collin. While she flipped out on him and revealed her truer self, she didn't feel any better. She said a lot but felt like she said nothing because there was no closure. It was something she wanted to push off, but her mind just wouldn't let her. And the more she tried ignoring it, the more her brain demanded her to keep painting scenario after scenario of the worst possible situation. She was digging through her brain for the parts she wanted to desperately remembering while still trying to dodge the scary possibilities from last night. Chanel didn't feel at all bad about her accusations as Collin's feelings were the last thing on her mind at the moment. Had he been upset with her approach--which, granted, he probably was--that would have been something she could get around to. But she wouldn't ever apologize for her mind jumping to that conclusion.

The menu in front of her provided some necessary tactile function. She roamed her eyes over the words and descriptions and prices without really reading or seeing anything. Brooke did manage to pull her away from her sludge-like state, but her suicide comment only made her feel worse. Chanel had no idea about Brooklyn's own relationship with suicide, and she understandably assumed, like usual, Brooklyn was talking out of her ass for no good reason. Chanel didn't automatically shut down at the mention of the word, in fact she made sure that she showed no out of the ordinary reaction to the subject. It was really for her own benefit so that she could convince herself that what almost happened didn't happen--that she was over it and that was why she was allowed to be this new person. But clearly she wasn't because she was apparently hooking up with her friend's brother and now she was feeling a bit more responsible and guilty for everything than she had been five minutes ago. She seriously wasted her entire time. She reverted just like that. Just like that. She probably did deserve to feel so out of sorts because she was a disappointment. Her parents didn't even want her to go on this trip, so this was clearly her payback. Very rarely did her thoughts get this self-destructive, especially because she'd learned to cope with them--as in silence and ignore them. But she was in the state of mind where every little thing seemed to be reason, a rationalization for the shitty feeling inside her.

None of those internalities transferred onto her face though. Physiologically Brooklyn got a reaction out of her with the way her heart thumped heavily for a second, like just before a jump scare in a horror movie. Maybe if Collin's bomb didn't drop not too long ago, she would have given her more of a reaction, but she was too compressed. She began reaching for her glass, desperately needing to swallow because it seemed like the growing lump in her throat was obstructing her oxygen, but she realized half a beat later that it was empty. She only offered Makayla a polite smile, now more aware of her own possible intrusion. A spa sounded nice, but she wasn't even sure if she could enjoy one right now. She wanted more than anything just to get in bed and shut off the world for the rest of the day. Every little detail felt like too much stimuli and she felt a sudden urge to control everything. By the time Holly and the others appeared, she was absently chewing the side of her finger, a bad habit she and her siblings got from their father. Chanel quickly outgrew it because it damaged her nails and she was one to be concerned with appearances. But there were occasions where she would do it without realizing. Right now it might have just looked like she was in deep thought in the menu that she really wasn't reading, but she needed something to be in her control right now.

"Damn liar."

Roman's words made her realize that Holly had been speaking to her. She missed the part about Roman allegedly saying her hated her, but the latter part she didn't miss, although without the preface, it did seem quite random. Even without all the information, Chanel normally would have engulfed Holly into a huge hug because she thought she was so cute and innocent, and it was nice to feel wanted. She'd assure her that she wasn't going anywhere anytime soon and that she couldn't possibly hate her. But that was too much work and too much energy. Even the gentle, sympathetic smile she offered the girl felt like a strain. "Don't worry, Holly," she said, patting the girl's back. "I'm not leaving anytime soon." Instead of trying to distract her with something more fun and positive, like the setting or the dessert menu, she simply returned back to hers and tried reading the appetizers section for the fifth.

It wasn't necessarily rare for Holly to get emotional. 90% of the time, those emotions came in the form of excitement and happiness. 10% of the time, and that was nearly always when she was overly-tired or sick, those emotions were ones that involved her being upset or angry. Even if it wasn't rare for her to be somewhere on the extreme side of the emotional scale, it was pretty unusual for her to be upset. Needless to say, being upset in Disney seemed even more unlikely, especially when she already experienced enough of that yesterday, between Makayla being irrationally mean to her, and the unfortunate shock of the fast roller coaster. She didn't want to be upset and she wasn't being dramatic and sad for the attention or pity. It was just one of those things where things were aligning in a way that everything that was said and done came at the right time and in the right way to make her upset. It had started with Roman reprimanding her, and then teasing her, and from there, she was just in a mindset where it was easy to construe everything that was happening as being an attack on her. "She hates me," Holly concluded quickly, not giving Chanel any benefit of the doubt in her reaction, before turning to Brooklyn with a look of despair. It was quite possible that even if Chanel had responded with her normal enthusiasm, that Holly would have proclaimed that Chanel hated her regardless, but the lack of it made it a certain response. "At least I know there's nothing in the world that I could ever do to make you hate me," she continued, wrapping both of her arms around the arm of Brooklyn that was closest to her to hug it.

There was a fair chance that Holly's mood could have maintained its melodrama, but what was probably more true to her character led her to change her train of thought pretty quickly. "You're gonna like me again once you see what I got you for Christmas! It's very.... Chanel" she said, turning back to Chanel with an excited grin. "Me and Cara went shopping for everyone here!" she proclaimed, looking around excitedly, until her eyes fell upon Roman. Her smile only grew then as she laughed, "Except for you, Roman! You're getting coal! Or maybe we'll get you some water since you're always so thirsty! Only Cara can help you with your thirst problems, though, because me and you aren't friends anymore, so that's only gonna be from Cara!"
