“Come one, come all to Convict Carnival! The entertainment is games where the price for losing could easily be life or death! But don’t worry, all the people putting on the show are convicted criminals who have all been placed on death row! Will they survive? Will they make allies or enemies? Come and find out at a carnival where the scum of the world are putting their lives on the line!” A man on a commercial yells out advertising the newest prison that doubles as a carnival. The man makes the place sound like so much fun….if you are not the entertainment. The people who take part in this entertainment are much less dangerous and housed in A-Block through F-Block. Depending on performance the participant can get Carnival Points (CP) to spend in the Convict Store. The Convict store sells many things including Candy. However Candy is very expensive since it is such a wonderful item. Why you might ask? Well that is simple; Candy in Convict Carnival is actually an antidote for the poison that is slowly injected into your body via the Death Sentence Collar. Since everyone that is in Convict Carnival is on death row and the Death Sentence Collars are forced upon the inmates the Candy is very helpful.

However what he doesn’t tell you is that some inmates, placed in what is called G-Block, are people with amazing yet dangerous powers. These people are called ‘Deadmen’ as a group, but individually they each have a nickname relating to their power. Each Deadman has complete control over the blood in their body, which they can use as a weapon. These abilities have been come to be called ‘Brach of Sin’ and seem to differ from Deadman to Deadman. They powers range from hand-to-hand combat to long range attack; offensive and defensive. However, not only is each Branch of Sin different they each have unique traits for each. Regardless of how a Deadman’s Branch of Sin takes its form it seems they only have one offensive or one defensive power. Also it seems that it is not how good one’s Branch of Sin is, the Deadman with more skill, knowledge, tactics and experience usually tends to win.

“Win what?” one might ask. Well the answer is simple: Deadman Pit Fights! These Deadman Pit Fights are held with no knowledge to the general populous. Only those with a lot of money or power can watch these fights, and even bet on them. For those labeled a Deadman watching is optional but highly advised. After all you may be fighting one of the fighters sometime, and knowing is half the battle. In addition Deadmen can also bet CP on the matches. The winners of the Deadman Pit Fights get a Candy, some CP, and the luck of not being sent to the Slot Machine.

Questions on what the Slot Machine is? No worries I’ll explain. The Slot Machine is not something that you can use CP with, nor do you gain anything from it. Instead the losers of a Deadman Pit Fight are sent there if the Deadman is not killed in the process of the match. The Slot Machine has one spot that shows the result of what happens. However no matter what it lands on you will have one less body part to worry about in your next Deadman Pit Fight. Be it an organ or an appendage, you will lose something.

Many would ask “Why don’t they just use their powers and escape?” The answer is much simpler than what the Convict Carnival is; Deadmen can’t use their powers anywhere except the Deadman Pit Fight arena after they are hit with the anti-serum upon being arrested. For those found to be a Deadman after being arrested, well the poison they are injected with delivers a constant supply of the anti-serum that the Candy has no effect on. How are they discovered then? Regardless of what conditions are met the Branch of Sin automatically activates if the holder is about to die via external damage and defends them. No one is sure why this can’t happen if they are fighting another Deadman, not even the Deadmen themselves.
