Strength as a spirit: He isn't able to manifest for very long at all, struggling to. He can appear for five or ten seconds, but then is much too drained to be able to do anything else like it for a long, long while. The only other power he has as a spirit, is on occasion, people can hear him sing.

Personality: Thomas is extremely kind and shy, keeping to himself most of the time. When he feels upset or lonely, he will usually sing a song to cheer himself up, having been a gifted musician in life. When he sees happy couples, he becomes deeply saddened, missing his family. If there was one thing he missed most, he missed being able to play the violin or piano and have people be uplifted by the sound instead of terrified. Though when you get through his shyness, he's actually rather lighthearted and joking - Very paternal and sweet, extremely generous and sympathetic, but he's also very, very sad.

History: Born in Manchester, England, Thomas was raised to be a kind, polite gentleman. He was an honor student and was extremely talented in music, becoming a performing soloist by the age of seventeen, graduating early at the same age. He moved several times to go to different colleges, becoming a professional soloist and choir director at the age of twenty two.

When he was twenty one, he married a beautiful young woman named Elizabeth, and soon after they were gifted with fraternal twins Melia and Matthew. They were a very happy family, both parents working - But Elizabeth working from home to keep an eye on the twins. Everything in his life was going swimmingly, absolutely perfect. That is, until Dave Lorraine entered his family's life.

Dave Lorraine was a cruel man, a demon at heart, who had known Elizabeth for years, and wanted her as his own wife, and hated Thomas from the bottom of his heart for 'stealing' her from him. One night when Elizabeth was out with the kids, taking them to a friend's birthday party while Thomas finished grading, Dave snuck into the house. Using a rope, he strangled Thomas and tied it tightly around his neck until it began to bleed. Then, Dave dragged Thomas into his living room and closed him in an antique wooden chest while Thomas struggled. Taking the safety device off of the lock, he locked Thomas inside the chest and left him there.

When Thomas was found, he had died of esphixiation while scratching the inside of the chest until his fingers bled. No one ever found out who murdered him, but wife and children mourning his loss even now as they try to figure out why someone would take someone like Thomas away from them. Dave being a 'close friend' of Elizabeth, she confided in him and eventually married him, thinking that Thomas would be happy to just have her continue living her life with someone who truly cared about her and came to help them in the family's time of need and grieving.
However, Thomas watched, helpless, as Dave took another women into the house when Elizabeth was out, having gotten 'bored' of her now that he had her. He would go around with another women, sleep with them, and only cared for the twins enough for Elizabeth not to suspect he was actually mostly neglecting them.

Why he stayed: Thomas is desperate to show his family the truth behind his murder, to tell them that the man that has been accepted into the family is the very one which tore it apart in the first place. Thomas also wanted to watch over the children, and when he can, he will appear to them to comfort them, and will sometimes sing to them to put them to sleep or soothe them.

Mainly, Thomas wanted to reveal the true Dave, so that his wife and children don't have to suffer and unknowingly live with a man violent, unstable, and jealous enough to kill another person. He is also terrified that he would kill Elizabeth to be with another woman, and wants to keep Dave away from his family.
