Lyric is a troubled girl who tries her hardest in everything she does. Her extra-curricular activities include field hockey, debate team, cheer leading, drama club, volley ball, dance lessons,(Ballet, jazz, modern AND tap) and french club. Lyric gets excellent grades, does well on sports teams and to everyone else, an overachiever. But Lyric is not the happy, smart and athletic girl she seems. She strives extremely hard to get her mother to notice her. Being a single, working mom Denise Abraham is one of those people who think they can buy their daughters love and never have to see them again. Although Denise rarely talks to her daughter, out of the few times she did, the words that Lyric will remember forever are "try to lose a few pounds."
Angst filled and frustrated, Lyric is now obsessed to do just that, convinced it will make her mother notice her. In between spending hours on a treadmill and throwing away much of her lunch at school, Lyric is fighting an eating disorder with all her might, but doesn't know if she will win.
One the outside, Lyric is a friendly and very popular queen bee. Although it looks like she has many friends, all of them don't know much about her and they aren't truly close, due to the fact Lyric isn't allowed to have anyone at the house. Lyric can be rude, snobby and exclusive to some girls but she is more of a bystander than an actual bully. Other than that not much is known about her to others.
