Alex takes out his credit card and puts it on the bill. Thanks to abuse of interest laws, he's got WAY more than enough money in his bank account to pay for it.

The man looks up as the something runs past him. He pauses for a few seconds, worrying that that "something" might be something come to get him, to finish the job they started at Fontin. He reaches into his pocket for another cigarette.

"I do hope things recover soon," Elysia said.
"Of course, Lady Elysia," said the waitress. "We hope to see you again!"
And the three dragons left to check on any damages.

Outside, the figure in the alley peeked out slightly and noticed the foreign-dressed man reaching into his pocket.
"Thank you~!" Natsumi said, several times in succession.
"I do hope things recover soon," Elysia said.
"Of course, Lady Elysia," said the waitress. "We hope to see you again!"
And the three dragons left to check on any damages.

Having paid his bill and left a sizable tip, Alex heads out of the restaurant as well.

The man takes out another cigarette and puts it in his mouth. This one seems to light itself, letting out lines of purple smoke as a purple, smoky arm appears under the man's right sleeve.

As Alex heads out of the restaurant and down the road towards Fontin, he sees the man with the smoke arm and stops in his tracks. The man turns and notices Alex as well.
"Shit," said Alex, instinctively reaching for Bane.
It's then that Alex remembers he doesn't HAVE any of his swords. Because Majestic, and by extension the man in front of him, took them and mass-produced them. He slowly backs away from the man, who just holds up his good arm in a "stop" gesture.
"Don't run," said the man. "Whoever was sent to get me is doubtless fast enough to get you."
"Shit," said Alex, instinctively reaching for Bane.

The figure in the alley slinked back a bit when he saw Alex. While he and the other man were talking, though, the figure felt something skittering on his arm. He tried not to move, though being stiff from fright wouldn't help much.
"... Why the HELL would you be warning me about-" began Alex.
"Because I'm on the outs with Majestic now," said Black Jack.
Black Jack glances towards the alley quickly, then back to Alex. He doesn't seem to see the figure very clearly.
"And whoever's back there is trying to kill me," said Black Jack.
"How are you so sure?" asked Alex.
"Mockingbird is very thorough," explained Black Jack. "Care to help me take down this next attempt?"

"Because I'm on the outs with Majestic now," said Black Jack.

It wasn't long after Alex's last line there that the figure came tumbling out of the alley, wresting several spiders off of him and landing on his left side. The figure in question is a yellow fox-like ferran, clad in dark leggings, gloves, and boots. When he noticed that he was in plain view of Alex and Black Jack, his eyes widened.
"(Uh-oh...!)"

Alex and Black Jack couldn't help but look at the fox-like newcomer as he tumbled out, making quite a racket.
"... This guy one of yours?" Alex asked Black Jack.
"Not unless he's a new hire," said Black Jack, almost amused. "What's your name, then?"

Black Jack walks up to Valentin and extends his good arm, trying to indicate that he wants to help Valentin up.
"A pleasure, Valentin," said Black Jack. "I'm Black Jack. This is-"
"Don't introduce me like we're friends or anything," said Alex, looking very unamused.

Valentin was a bit skeptical at first, since Black Jack initially thought that he was hired to kill him. Also...
"Hang on - what's this about you and...Majestic?" Valentin asked.

"Apparently bad blood's gone between me and their de facto leader," said Black Jack, still extending his hand. "They want to kill me."

"Not all of them for justified reasons, I imagine," said Black Jack with a smirk.

With those words, Valentin thought back to a memory, one that's haunted him throughout his life...

There were barely any survivors left by the time Corona's soldiers made it there - Valentin was lucky enough to be one of those survivors. But everything else in Cadarnel was...

"Indeed," said Black Jack. "They're making a move on Coronach, using Haven's military as their backbone. I'm afraid I wasn't high enough clearance to know what they want here, though. Most of what they want, they can get in Haven."

"Haven doesn't look too kindly on... 'non-norms', let's say," said Alex. "And they're at war with Coronach. If you're lucky any form of transport we take would be shot down and we'd die quickly."
"And if Majestic is after me they'll be careful to check if I've boarded any boats, planes, or what have you," explained Black Jack. "And they'd... rectify their issue, so to speak. So I'm not in any hurry to go back, if you understand my meaning."
