Appearance
Amara’s eyes are a mix of color, as if an artist decided to experiment one day. With streaks of brilliant green, and deep blue, her eyes are an interesting combination of color. She stands at 5’6”, and has a slender body build. She weighs 126 pounds, roughly, but it’s mostly due to her height. Her skin is stubbornly fair, with delicate freckles that splatter across the tops of her cheekbones. A fan of skirts and dresses, it’s rare for Amara to be in pants. She loves to wear long necklaces, pearls or chains, that dangle down her front because she likes to play with them when she gets nervous. On her left wrist is a small black leather watch that she always wears. Black flats are her favorite shoe to wear. Her hair is a dark chocolate brown, almost black, and she prefers to wear it down. On special occasions she will curl her hair, but most days she prefers to leave it to it’s natural wave.

Amara has a tattoo of a dandelion being blown from the back of her right shoulder to her neck. The tiny particles of the dandelion blow across her shoulder, onto her neck, and turn into birds.

Unsure if it’s a gift or a curse, Amara can turn into a mermaid upon coming into contact with water. Now, we aren’t talking someone dumps a cup of water on her and instantly she’s flopping on the floor. She has to be submerged in water, at least up to her hips. No, she doesn’t sprout fins if it’s raining outside. When outside of the water, Amara has a deep ache for water. She often drinks it, carrying around a bottle with her to take the edge off. While out of her mermaid form her powers are limited, but when in mermaid form they are heightened. She can use telepathy with one person at a time, and this is not limited to just speaking. She can also push images into another person’s mind, but only if they are open to accepting it. She can also control water, but only in her mermaid state of being. It’s handy for swimming faster, or saving a drowning person by pushing the water away from them to form a bubble of air around them. She also has an unspoken bond with sea creatures and fish. It’s more of a perk than a power. While in mermaid form she can grow a set of fangs if threatened, and extend her normally nice nails into sharpened claws. As traditional mermaids, she has an irresistible pull about her when it comes to men while in her mermaid form. Something about that smile, just makes them want to join her in her watery depths. This magnetic attraction only works while in her mermaid form, but does have some effects around her while in human form.

Personality
Amara is painfully loyal, to the point that it may even hurt her sometimes. Once she’s decided she’s on your side, she’s by your side to the bitter end. She would do anything for the one she loves, even uproot and leave her entire family behind for him (again, being a little too loyal?). Amara is a charming young woman, with the mermaid blood running through her veins. It is very easy for her to make friends, as people just seem to like her despite having no real reason to. She likes to keep to herself, as large crowds make her a little nervous. Not to say that she doesn’t enjoy a night out dancing with Him, because she does, but she’s aware that many things could go wrong when she’s in a crowd.
Amara does not normally have a large bloodlust, but as she becomes older He begins to look tastier and tastier. Appalled by her own dark desires, she struggles with if she should tell him or not.

Opening up a small bakery along one of the many half-water-engulfed streets of Venice, they made a happy life together there. Amara never knew her father, but her mother said she has his eyes. That same year a boy pushed Amara into the water in a back alley. Amara had never learned how to swim, but she found that she could breathe just fine under the water- and she had a tail, too! Frightened, she struggled her way onto the shore and ran, naked, back to their home above the bakery. Her mother calmly explained to her what she was, and began to teach her the ways of their people.
Years past, and Amara fell in love. Her mother did not approve of the match, and pulled Amara to the side one evening to tell her why Amara had never known her father; her mother had eaten him. Horrified, Amara agreed to escape with her love to the Hotel De L’Amour. She didn’t want to believe what her mother had said was true. She couldn’t! Now with the urge growing stronger by the years, Amara struggles to live two lives. Secretly sneaking away to make a meal here or there out of some unsuspecting male, and praying for forgiveness. Torn between two worlds, her lover and her animalistic instincts, Amara fights to find a balance.
