General Characteristics
Name: Kiyomaru “Kiya”Shinikami. - Siversten Appearance: White ashen skinned, dark haired, green eyed, attractive female with angelic like wings. Most of the time is covered by a hooded cloak and a black and white mask over her face. Voluptuous in form. Dominant trait is demonic, while she gives off the appearance of an angel due to her wings, it is a ruse to disguise that she is a demon. Symbol: An ouroboros – Serpent that devours its own tail. Such represents the cycle of eternity between life, death, and rebirth. The circle is an unbreakable cycle as a unity for there is no beginning and no end to it. Many find rings associated with this as the perfect circle represents infinity. The serpent devouring its own tail is of symbolism for eternal suffering. I chose this to represent Kiya since her affliction with an immortality curse prevents her own final death. She will not see her own retribution come in or be able to serve as a result of it. She is an abomination to the cycle of life and death with being unable to continue her own cycle. For this she is locked in her own eternal suffering with the taunts of granting death and the chances of redemption on others, but she herself will not experience it until the curse is lifted.
Name Origin: Kiyomaru itself came from an old translation I had caught on one random translator thing. It had read “To be purified” Shinikami is a rough version for “Guardian of death” So it should be held as “To be purified the Guardian of Death.” Kiya came from one of Akhenaten’s beloved wives he had. It was a pet name he had used for her. I liked the story to it as this is partially infused in the romance between Kiya and Damien. Name Meaning: Simply like above it is supposed to mean the whole “To be purified The Guardian of Death” Since she seeks purification but at the same time she doesn’t want it. Other Names: Only Kiya. Titles: Grim Reaper, Angel of Death, Regent of Death, Green-eyed Reaper, Resident God of Death. Abomination, and Guardian of Purgatory. Alternate Forms: Kiya has a range between Seraphim of the angels, succubus as per her rebirth under Damien, a full first choir demon, a generic based form, and based on the level of power she uses determines her alignment shifts and which side she gears towards. The more unholy power used the more she will appear demonic, the more holy based power the closer she comes to her redemption. For fights she retains her neutral form as much as possible without using much holy as it has a double effect. While she can tap into the power it also will burn her as her demonic status is weak against it. Manner of Death: A very violent death, she was strung up by her feet and killed by Elizabeth Bathory in one of her rituals for eternal beauty. Her abdomen to her neck was slashed before a full beheading. And of course Bathory bathed in her blood. Last Words: “Do it you ugly whore!” Primary Objective: Keep the flow of balance among the Underworld. Her role as a Guardian of Death is as it is said. She is the keeper of souls, she governs over the living, the damned, the righteous, the cursed, those that seek redemption, she bestows their retributions, she grants them passage into the other realms if they’ve earned it. She does so without a flicker of through concerning herself, and content with where she stands now. As the govern of her own realm and all flow that goes into it. Good and bad. Secondary Objectives: She is also a keeper of a specific key that allows people to see into the future, the past, the present, and to oversee the good, damned, and soon to die. She also protects this as her goal and role as guardian. Priorities: Maintaining the balance of her realm, if one thing tilts off she destroys the whole thing and refreshes it. She is the pure example of chaotic neutrality. She does everything to benefit her own motives to the realm. She also doesn’t hesitate to tear anyone apart who upsets that delicate balance. Motivation: Her own motivation is set to lifting her curse. To gain that is to annihilate her own enemy as a necromancer among the land of the undead. Stepping foot there however is a suicide run and for her last attempt was a humiliating defeat that earned her that curse. She won’t tangle with them unless she sees fit. Accomplishments: Kiya has always been a high ranked soldier somewhere, her former accomplishments before her fall was being a second in command to a “God’s” throne. She had her rank as a proud seraph, but at her fall those wings were cruelly torn out of her back and she was thrown out. Greatest Achievement: Earning her place now as the God of Death, and ruler of purgatory. Failures: Her lost rank of the heavens, her damnation into the Underworld, her at one time being a mindless slave, Her bestowment of her immortality curse, her failing the jump of faith. Being severely burned by necromancer’s flames. Biggest Failure: The biggest failure is her entanglement with the necromancer Vanth. Because of her going into the fight blindly she is inflicted with her curse. Also at one point becoming a Litch’s doll. Self-Confidence: She has enough confidence to be able to step anyone down from feeling like they’re above anyone else in her realm. Traumas: This is a long event. Ever since she had been brought into Bathory’s castle as a chamber maid and otherwise slave, she has witnessed nothing but unimaginable horrors. From people being killed in front of her, to her own death. After her death she had risen in her ranks only to be brought back down as a mistake on her part for giving into desires of sin. For it she was cast out of the heavens and given a new role. She is still enslaved to those desires, but she has gained other abilities, but not without enduring horrid treacherous quests to obtain them, some being the moment she had met Chiron and after her wanting further power, her eyes were torn out and replaced with Gorgon eyes. She has suffered a lot of bodily harm all taken cared of through regeneration. But it would still be a pain in the ass to have things severed off and wait for them to regenerate. Extremities such as arms, wings, legs, and such are easily fast, but say she has suffered a great devastation to her body, like lower-half is blown off, it will take longer to regenerate as organs and those things are higher priority. As a result, it is possible to slow her down if you deal enough damage, usually on those she will concede a fight and grant the enemy a win. As nothing is bad like losing your body to excessive power. (I have only had this happen to her three times…) She also does not deal well with animated corpses. The hardest event for her to watch was the Witch Trials, it was around these times where her soul hardened more to anyone at seeing the depravity humans will put onto others for the sake of a holy entitlement. Afflictions: Presently the top affliction is her curse, the curse prevents her own redemption and she is seen as an abomination to some, even her own appearance is such with the angelic appearance but a demon in the body. She also assumes the form since it is easier on weary souls who may fear her. Embarrassments: She hates the reminders of her failures. Such is her neck the tell-tale scar that reaches around her neck of when she was beheaded not once but three times since her death. Her initial death is still the first scar, and also it hints to opponents that it is a possible weak point. For a clean decapitation earns a victory to enemies and opponents. Regeneration on that takes at least a week, depending if the head is kept close to the body and reattached. Otherwise the body has to go through a ritual. (Note for reasons in a fight I will not allow decapitations unless I have a good story plot with anyone. Or the fight must be really good to warrant this. I will not accept anyone who meta-games. Takes the outside information and infuses it into their character as automatically knowing her weakness. Also you must be very close to earn that hit, you must have a weapon that cuts through gold and is resistant to lightning as she will be shocking you upon touch to it, and you have to be good about avoiding her scythe. Just because your character may know her weakness doesn’t mean you may get a chance to deal it. In a full fight to the death, you should be well experienced to take her own. She has a lot of tricks up her sleeves and she will not give away what she will do next. I have had too many people god-mod and meta-game with this information. So as a result I will make it extremely hard for you to even do a death fight. Trust me.. I have at least 10+ years of rp experience.) Worries: The only worry is anything that inhibits the flow of her realm, and not locating it in time. Usually she will find it instantly and will be in front of the disturbance. If she can’t find it, you can expect her to demolish the whole place to not allow the wrong thing through that one gate into paradise. Other than that, nothing escapes her. Soothers: What calms her is her outside realm her Sanctuary. A tranquil realm untouched by humans or seen by anyone except those who she will allow into it. You must have earned her interest and trust for her to take you to her home. Instigators: Seeing anyone in relation to necromancers, or studying necromancy. People who resemble Bathory earn a special cruel malicious murder from her. Mercy on the souls who fight in her realm however. She will throw a soul back into Hell itself under extreme notice for infinite torment should a soul murder another in her realm. Purgatory may be designed for further torment, but it also serves the purpose of realizing what you have done and determine if you are worthy of redemption. Earliest Memory: Her family before her father’s death, and especially before her own mother was killed. During the travels to Czech escaping persecution for leaving military. Fondest Memory: The time she has spent developing her relationship to Damien. The secret between them of a 100% love despite the for show fights. Children however get taken to her realm till they’re ready to go to their respective realms for being accepted into the heavens or adopted into a demon noble’s keep. This is held respectively within her more angelic half. Her halved nature very distinctive and is remotely why her appearance is more human/angelic than monsterous/demonic. She can’t be scaring away souls when her role is to guide them off into the various realms. She has decent traits but the most notable is her indiscrimination. As a neutral soul she has determined everyone is equal and everyone eventually winds up on the shore of Styx. Ability: Kiya has a wide range of abilities. She flies, shapeshifts, regenerates at will, Shifts into different plains of existence, materialize around others, alter her alignment from true good to chaotic evil. All within a thought’s flick. She can charm willing souls under her control and or steal their souls, she can petrify people with her stare, and depending on the other soul’s sensitivity she can erode their body to dust with just her own touch. Element: She is a master of elements. Her dominant preferred element is fire she will use this the most depending on her enemy’s weakness. If she learns their sensitivities she will exploit them. Immunities: Kiya is immune to most elemental attacks, mind control techniques, and things that attempt to alter her perceptions. She is not immune to holy attributes as a demon and she is sensitive to ice and light. She also is immune to poisons and most paralysis effects. Futilities: Beings with like attributes to those with the afflictions of elements. Like flames will not harm another flame wielder, unless she imbues it within a different element or attribute. If someone is weak against both fire and unholy she will use both as a combined attack. But if someone is immune to fire and holy then the attack will fail. Restrictions: While she can use holy to an extent it also harms her to a great level. There is also a certain fire that harms her such as necromancer’s flames. Such thing is like acid to her and reduces flesh to skeleton instantly to a being like her. Origin: She first learned the powers respectively from things like small crystal to learn the powers. She learned from Chiron how to harness her powers and conjure at will compared to borrowing from established fixtures like sparks or earth itself. The colors are neutral of black and white with her colors and gold leafing around the eye holes and spirals down into a flame pattern, Her Ouroboros choker. Dress Style/Wardrobe: Gothic attire, composed of a one piece style body clothing. The front has open centers at the chest and an exposed abdomen. Completely backless to accommodate wings, and extends down like leggings. An over skirt at her hips that is opened in center and transparent black lace. A black tattered cloak used to conceal her identity, a double looped belt. Ankle high boots with gold loops that look more like a moon shape than circle and arm gauntlets. Equipment: A scythe, an endless scroll, five hidden pouches on her waist tied to the belts that contain poisons and antidotes. Most Prized Possession: Her ring from Damien, and her scythe. Most Valuable Possession: Gold coins. Trinkets: Rings, and her earrings. They’re not just fashion they’re tuned to alignments and specific spells in them to reduce her chances of corruption. Her mask also holds a particular ability in allowing her to remain unseen to most clairvoyant eyes. Even if they’re able to see ghosts and spirits normally, they still will not see her with it donned.
Social Characteristics
Communication: Kiya communicates with individuals upon their death, or if they’re close to death she will hang around them for a time. She does not reveal her identity until the soul is dead, they will get her full name and title of who and what she is. For at face value meetings she always is wearing her mask to conceal her face as normal meetings without it while giving a soul the warning of their imminent death goes against an executioners code for breaking their anonymity rule. If she breaks that then she hangs around the soul until their death and reaps their soul. To prove she is not attached to the soul. Criminal Record: The most criminal thing you can count would be going against the laws of heaven. Punished by being cast out. Discriminations: Idiot people the most. If a soul is an utter moron, or in particular tries to assault her she takes no mercy on them and usually reduces the soul to fear or ashes. And she has this thing about closets. Dominance: Iron-fist sort of persona. You’re not going to convince her to spare your life. Ego: More lethargic and neutral. She doesn’t see herself better than the next soul. She can’t think herself better than others with her role as death. Emotional Stability: Kiya is very well grounded for stability. It takes a serious blow for her to lose it. Analogue: If I were to compare her to an already existing character. She would be more like a full harder than nails version of Ulquiorra Cifer. That is without her blabbing her own weakness and not losing her attack of opportunity. She is one of those that will go in for the kill. Desired Voice Actor: No one right now. Inspiration: I spent years of research and learning between angel-ology and demonology. Partly what sparked some of this was my interest in Astrology. I went through so many internal re-writings before I was set on an actual idea. The spark that came off for the Zodiac spots was with Thirteen Ghosts. I liked the concept of that, but instead of keeping with the original story format. I went my own direction with it. I also grew up with a lot of history books so when I chronologically placed her age at 400-402 and timed it backwards till it landed on 1610 I looked for the most distinct tyrant of that time that would be capable of inflicting horrors onto a 17 year old girl… The one that popped up was Elizabeth Bathory. And I had always wanted to go with a story told from a victim point of view that becomes something more than just that. A very powerful being. This also comes from years and years of rp till I was satisfied with the character make up. She is not an evil character but she is certainly not a good character. She is her own unique make up and I always have fun with coming up with new ways to bring her to people. I wanted a relatable character yet complex.

MBIT Personality Type: INTJ Anima: It is very rare to see her let her guard down. When she does it is usually when she is by herself and when that mask comes down she is more prone to opening herself up to another. She acts normal but more talkative. Easier to come up behind her on and she won’t attack. Persona: Stand-offish, aloof, and in general she holds herself up with a higher importance in front of groups.

First Impressions: She treats all first impressions with high guard up. Everyone is an enemy, and everyone has potential to be a threat. So her meetings at face value are quick and to the point. Strangers’ Impressions: Fearful of her. Upon sight usually they’re running back away from her due to her wielding of a scythe. Friends’ Impressions: Stronger willed and held in higher respect. Family’s Impressions: Blood family has long been dead. Self Impression: Self contentment and her own impression of herself is ordinary. Just another being. Authority’s Impressions: Amon has a particular liking to her she keeps the realms going and is his call for executions and enforcing other grave laws. The community of the four realms she inhabits depends on her need or the demand of events happening. Generally there is the steady flow of souls from death and the circle for rebirth eventually. Purgatory is a realm designed for further retributions of souls that realize their wrongs and seek a way out through earning it. The human realm is where it starts for most. Her own realm is her own refuge.
Development
Personal: I think from the time spent on her she is well developed. Still rough in some areas, but as far as story goes very good personal development. Social: She needs better social structure but if I ever get around to writing better this will be filled better. Physical: She is designed as a creature that lures people into a false sense of security. Souls are least likely to fear a being that looks more angelic than demonic. For that her physical structure is very simple. Spiritual: High spiritual tuned. This is best determined based on who she deals with.
Defining Moment
The defining moment it took to create a character like Kiya was a thought of a creature that is in between good and evil. One corrupted and has the chance of redemption but doesn’t want it. Then later is cursed so it is taken away due to her very being is now an abomination to other kind. What set this apart to me was going back and revamping her earlier information. She use to be a sister but I abandoned that after the story got too complex.
Biography
Infancy: Happy infancy, traveling between birth to around 6. Childhood: Around 3 left Aesland due to persecution and ended up at Czech Republic where they lived for a while on the outskirts of the town till Kiya reached 10. She and her mother were taken into the castle for tax reasons. Her father was killed in one of the wars from demanded use as military swordsman. Adolescence: From 10 to 18 life spent in Bathory’s keep until her death at 18. Adulthood: After death she aged till she would be around 20s to mid 20s and stopped aging physically. Seniority: She does not physically age.

A complex character but one that is great to make. I spent 12+ years developing this character to how she is now. There is still a lot of room for improvement. Everything is subjected to change. And I hope whoever stuck with this to the very end was able to take good time to understand this character.
