    Strengths & Weaknesses
orderly | She's great at managing tasks and making sure
everything is in order. She is especially good at sticking to
habits and routines that maintain a healthy lifestyle for
herself and that ensures that those around her are well
cared for. x sensitive | towards the end of leading a
stable lifestyle she places especial importance in
establishing tight-knit relationships with the few
friends she has. She is known to be warm, personable,
and to care deeply about other people’s feelings.x dutiful
    | she has a strong sense of responsibility and strives to meet
her obligations, although it is often unsure if she does so
completely out of an inherent altruism or from a sense of
    societal expectations.

inflexible |she tends to be overly concerned about what is
socially acceptable, and rarely steps out of her comfort zone.
She is critical over anything unconventional or outside the
mainstream.x needy | she often beggars for attention because
she wants to feel appreciated. She is not excessive or abrasive
about it, but she does clam up if she does not readily get the
recognition she desires. x overbearing although she is naturally
sociable and likeable, when she meets people for the first time
she can often come on too strong. From first impression most
find her overwhelming happiness to be disingenuous until they
take time to get to know her.

    Bedtime Buddy

Her feet furiously pattered away at the pedal board, each jab weighted with as much assurance her ten year-old frame could muster. The church reverberated with the sonorous sounds as if elevating the stained mosaics depicting Christ’s birth to their bona fide provenance. The raucous, exultant cries of composers and musical genius of a bygone era ringing in the air. Gavriila suspected not even a full grown adult could quite get accustomed to the strident intensity of the organ or its immense facade.

Her quaint figure practically buckled under its chilling tonality, but was all at once driven to complete the piece by its raw power. Her fingers snipped with a metered glide across the glistening white ivories relaying Handel’s Organ Concerto Op.7 No. 4 in D minor ending the piece with bravado as the final note released in a sweet sigh. Gavriila’s eyes fluttered open relishing the musical escape her breathing ragged from such unrestrained passion. She stood up, hobbling slightly at her legs’ soreness, and turned to see an incalculable swarm of onlookers rise up in standing ovation, even the members of the orchestra that had accompanied her. Gavriila could not help the beaming smile that parted her lips as she bowed for their applause.

At that moment she felt like she could conquer the world. Seeing this fervent crowd of its varied creeds united before her was remarkable. Such conditions of clemency rarely occurred in Mexico’s turbulent times and for her young heart it was surely a sight to behold. her youthful mind could not help but zealously race with notions of music’s therapeutic effects and thoughts of its ability to bridge the gap between peoples and their prejudices. Gavriila’s eyes drifted to the faces of those seated at the pew closest to her, scouring them for sight of her father. When the realization hit she felt all her wide-eyed optimism drain from her being as fast as it had come. “He didn’t-- but why would he…”
    ~

Mexico City, a bustling metropolis with a storied history and culture and a time and people that always seemed engaged in festivities. Gavriila was not immune to this tradition of entertainment, for she had taken to the drink quite early on. Even now it would not be odd to see her milling about the streets in a drunken flurry after a night clubbing the town, although it could be said her alcoholism stems from a more ingrown issue. However, just as the muck that undoubtedly films her lungs from inhaling the city’s overhanging smog, Gavriila knew from her youth that a much more toxic creed walked these streets just beneath human detection. They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, but in Gavriila’s case she had landed far, far away. Whereas as her long ago counterpart was raised in relative prosperity, her social status placed her not far above the dirt she stepped on.

Raised in such surroundings Gavriila could have easily been swayed from the path of her musical realization. Her father, at least in one of these regards, helped her stay rooted. He lived an ardent lifestyle never straying from the straight and narrow and was determined to become a self-made man. Through his shrewd business dealings and being even tighter with the coin he was able to establish a modest medical practice. Although the medical field is often synonymous with wealth, due to location of his offices near the slums of the city, his only patients were often the poor and needy with nowhere else to turn. Nevertheless, seeing the value of his dedication, Gavriila’s father wished to impart the same work ethic in his children. And with the four others he surely had, all of them even following in his precedence for their profession of choice. Gavriila, however, was the outlier.

Gavriila’s passion for music surfaced from the first time she heard the local choir sing. Although her father would incessantly remind her to attend to her studies, she could never translate those mountains of text to something truly meaningful. She would always find herself meandering to the world of eighth and sixteenth notes, and fortissimos and crescendos; a written notation that finally dawned on her an esoteric clarity.

Her father refused to fund these improbable aspirations, so most of her classical training in piano came by way of the directors of a volunteer youth organization bringing music to the impoverished. Gavriila’s inherent skills were quickly noted by the top directors and before long her insatiable thirst for knowledge exhausted the group’s modest library encompassing all strains of theory and composition.

By her teen years Gavriila had made ample headway in bringing her compositions into the spotlight and she was touted as one of the country’s up and coming stars. Despite the success, Gavriila never lost touch with her humble beginnings and her struggle through poverty. Much of any monetary gains she had made performing often went back to help improve conditions in the neighborhood she grew up in.

Besides her philanthropic pursuits, Gavriila bears a penchant charm for compassion and sympathy. Although quite shy and reserved in her day-to-day transactions, whether adequately inebriated or completely sober and with the opportunity to converse vis-à-vis, her grace shines through. No matter who she speaks with she maintains her heartiness and affable nature.

Although Gavriila can make pleasant conversation out of nearly everything, she stops short of divulging details of her personal life. She is firmly independent and refrains from forming relationships that would ruin this self-reliability. Besides the circumstances mentioned when she is involuntarily placed in a social environment, her relative estrangement from others makes her prone to a quick temper and irritability, even tantrums when people they don’t act in accordance with her. As fiery as she may appear in these instances it does not extend to her whole being for she bears no grudges and is even keeled in all of her judgments.

For all the benevolence she exudes, Gavriila often yearns for the same acknowledgement herself. She doesn’t gallivant for attention, however she recluses to herself when she doesn’t readily receive the ‘respect’ she desires. These vacillating sentiments can rub people the wrong when they first meet her, but her kind-heartedness breaks them down in the end.
