Introduction
“I have hardly anything in common with myself and should stand very quietly in a corner, content that I can breathe.”
Franz Kafka
Short Introduction
In the year 2122, a planet was discovered by Teo Walsnak as “the most promising planet” we have yet to discover which can support life. But the distance of 3124 light years away was a daunting task for any modern organization or country. However, with dozens of other projects already in motion for planets near 1200 light years away, it was proposed by a Beijing delicate to the U.N. that a mission to HD-142839 would be invaluable to human civilization as “no other planet has ever seemed to be so perfect for human life other than Earth,” and if there was a collaborative project it would be feasible.
So in 2131 eight world powers (China, U.S., U.K., Russia, Germany, Japan, India, and Korea) collaborated on the project which produced some of the most groundbreaking advances in space travel for the next ten years. Such as the ability to have the body in Stasis far longer than previous means (age one year for every 80 years passed) by having a person aging one year for every two hundred years in Stasis. Then producing a shockingly innovative artificial gravity and an engine with a top speed of .98891 light speed, the association within the U.N. created the ship Kronos.
Simple Background
Most that travel into space tend to be employees of vast world corporations who have invested for mining settlements to set up shipping routes to Earth. As a result, many bring their entire families to live on mining faculties where later generations are planned to transport resources back, or simply create a new city, a stopping point, or open up trade far from Earth. Nevertheless, the new space revolution has also resulted in mass employment of the lower classes with little to no skills or education, but requires the willingness to work and find jobs off of Earth.
Furthermore, with sponsorship from governments, the boom in space has just begun to see real profits in the last twenty years as the closest settlements have been shipping large quantities of resources back to Earth.
However, with the increased traffic, nations are beginning to claim parts of space, and have put strains on international relations, such as China’s push for dominance in our Solar System which has caused many countries to explore even farther. Then with the discovery of the element Incendium, a new fuel source, and the ability to mass produce anti matter in 2115, humanity has been coming closer than ever to reaching the speed of light, and thus, pushing further into undiscovered space.
Plot
In 2143 the ship Kronos was created in the harbor owned by the Beijing Aerospace program on the dark side of the moon and left port six months later with 15,000 residents on board.
While it was traveling out of the Solar System it stopped at two cities, Tiangong off the moon of Jupiter, and Franklin City 4.5 light years from Earth as a promoting project for the U.N. where they stayed for a week at each settlement.
The promotion became a huge success as Kronos was the 2nd largest vessel in space and brought needed support to the U.N.'s International space program.
The last stop was Nether before Kronos traveled past all main settlements towards HD-142839., a small community 123 light years with little over two hundred residents.
However, the last reports were that Kronos simply went past Nether without responding to its hails. After, there was no communication with Kronos or its crew, but the ship was spotted by long range telescopes to be on course, yet the ship was too far for the U.N. to do anything else to establish contact.
Setting
Kronos is a massive ship of narrow corridors, maintenance passages, walkways, and passenger accommodations. Even though the main hallways are made for passengers and general population with periodical maps, it is far different when you go down maintenance walkways that are miles long. You can quickly become confused with low lighting, monotonous cabling, and automatons moving about. From end to end, the ship would take a few days to explore and experience everything Kronos has to offer in the respect of entertainment. However, the maintenance hallways seem endless with sudden turns and dead ends.
The areas for general public are always well lit with artificial lighting or artificial widows to scenery or cityscapes, and if you spill or break something, a machine will be quick to clean up the mess, or replace an item.
In the back walkways and maintenance passages, appearance isn’t a priority as the robots are only programed to keep everything functional, so as long as anything isn’t inhibiting efficiency, the corridors are left alone and are left for human counterparts to determine if it needs to be cleaned or not.
Begin
It isn’t too disorienting waking up—just like taking a deep sleep and if you are in a luxury room, you wouldn’t find anything amiss, except this time you feel more tired than usual. Or if you are in the poorer housing, in the capsule pods, lined in rows and stacked, you would immediately think that you’re one of the last ones to wake up. You’d make your coffee and sit by your breakfast nook and get ready for your day. Until you realize later, when you leave your room, that no one else is awake, or missing.
Before everyone went to sleep in Statsis Kronos was headed to the city of Nether.
Now you seem to be on an empty ship.
And if you look in the mirror, you realize you’ve aged.
“alone, condemned, deserted, as those who are about to die are alone, there was a luxury in it, an isolation full of sublimity; a freedom which the attached can never know”
Virginia Woolf, Mrs. Dalloway

Setting
0.00 INK
- Able to house 20,000 comfortably
- Almost all functions on the ship are automatized set up through a network which maintains the ship through automatons and computers. So, essentially, most crew members have no work until they reach their destination.
- The only ones employed on the trip are security personal and operators of the bridge who oversee the ships functions and maintain order to other passengers on the ship.
- The ship contains all resources needed for the trip for all passengers to live in semi-luxury, but also contains mining equipment and means to gather resources should a need arise.
- There are also 190 probes controlled by Kronos in constant use which travels with the ship, with 3 main ones which are at least a light year ahead.
