Theme: Coming Soon!

GENERAL INFORMATION
Name: Toekii Tsibuna (Toe-Kye Tsi-Bune-A) - in his language, this means "He Who Never Sleeps"
Role: Chief of the Wikani Tribe Kabaka, or 'the Hunters', and Council member of the New Native Confederation.
Nickname(s)/Alias(es): Only Maka, which means Sleep.
Gender: Male
Race: Wikani
Age: Wikani do not count age the same as the colonists: by their standards however, he is 26.

APPEARANCE
Height: 5' 11
Weight: 170
Build: Musclular/Toned
Eye Color: Brown/Hazel
Hair Color: Fair/Blond
Scars/Tattoos/Piercings: Toekii would not be of the Hunters if he did not have his war tattoos. Most of them are green and litter his body in intricate and varying patterns, with really no reason as to what they are supposed to look like. For the most part, they are jagged at the ends, and curvy throughout the midsections of the tattoo. For scars, Toekii could not be chieftain if he had none - that means that he either never fought, or only fought those below him which is considered dishonorable. Scars are mismatched throughout his body, ranging from small ones to the deep one across his covered mid-section. Piercings are considered impractical by his people, so there are none.
Preferred Clothing: Green is the main colour of the Hunters, as it is the easiest to blend in with the dense forestation around them. Toekii personally wears a white garb to cover his body, which is then semi covered by his armor, which is detailed better in the picture. Since his fighting style is speed, his armor is lighter than some of his companions.

MENTALITY

Skills: A natural born leader, Maka has many talents under his belt. His greatest skill, however, is his ability to call forth the spirits of the earth and use them to create Gedoboni, which the colonists rudely call alchemy. Toekii mastered the art of poisons, healing potions, and other spirital uses as a child, which became his greatest asset when he first came into contact with those from the colonies. Next is his grace, speed and agility. Toekii's mother taught him many of the ritualistic dances of his people, and in turn he practiced his fighting moves with such dancing included, allowing for his fighting style to be highly fluid, graceful, and deadly quick.

Flaws: Toekii is not a man to play dirty or to cheat: regardless of how scary he is doing so, Toekii will always be truthful under any situation, which has gotten him into quite a bit of trouble with the Confederation and the Colonies. Toekii also has no aptitude for social events, which confuse him to their usefulness. Finally, Toekii is horrible with ranged combat: he considers it 'dishonorable' and 'petty', just like how he believes most western folk are.

Personality: Toekii is an interesting fellow of few words. His motto is to lead by example, which he strongly believes in: those that cannot walk the walk, are to be punished for lying. Passionate is probably the best word used to describe a man of his stature, and it clearly shows. Toekii will speak up for anything and everything he believes in, not backing down when others attempt to prove him wrong. His opinion, while may not be the most important, is usually the loudest of the groups. Toekii, however, can be quite understanding to those that he feels care or pity for (good luck trying to get that out of him) and always tries to make sure that all of his people are safe, secure and content with their lives.

Toekii is capable of feeling love, but in recent events, the man has gone cold and harsh towards all of the outside world. His personal hate for all of these 'Foreigners' runs deep into his body, a hatred that he cannot give up easily. He will refuse any and all help from the trash colonists, unless they have proven themselves to be worthy of his trust: Few have earned it, as it usually requires a dual of strength, and Toekii didn't get to be chief by writing a term paper or spelling words.

In combat, he is the exact same, but more at peace it seems. He always is relaxed, regardless of the situation, because he knows that if he should die, then he should die: he does not fear death, but embraces it as a living entity with a spirit, and therefore is to be respected as Gedoboni states it should be. Whether or not he is to die, Toekii will always fight with honor, rarely sneaking up on anything that he cannot fight head on: even game that he needs for food, he faces head on to kill it.

COMBAT

Weapon of Choice: His mighty spear. It has no name, but was made for him by the people of the Kabaka when he became chief, woven by Gedoboni from the Dan Marain (Elder Tree) itself. It has yet to ever break, even after all it has been through (fights against swords, really big animals, the works). It is also perfectly balanced, perfect for throwing it similar to a javelin.

Equipment: Toekii carries very little, but it is stored in a small pouch on his back. Inside is a drawing of a woman with flowing hair, a ceremonial knife and many small bottles of Gedoboni potions he had brewed earlier that day.

Power(s): Performing Gedoboni is his only true power.

Fighting Style: Adaptability and patience are his two virtues in fighting. For starters, Toekii will take the situation at hand, calculate it out, and act accordingly. He has been in many fights during his short lifetime, and many of them challenging and forcing him to adapt to the situation. He has honed this skill to a point, and has taught himself to understand his opponent's styles, moves and such, and apply them to his own. Next comes his patience. Toekii can wait for hours if he must, or for an exact second that he must attack, or for his opponent to get closer than they ought to be for their safety.

Both of these virtues are executed by his fast paced, graceful fighting. He will fight with honor, grace and speed; only losing if he must.

HISTORY
Relationship Status: Widower
Family:
Mother - Dancing Flower - Alive and Well
A ritual dancer, she taught her son everything he knows about grace and agility as they danced together for hours for her to practice. She singly raised her only son (though the tribe normally contributes a lot to raising the young ones)
Father - Dishonored (Previous name erased) - Presumed Dead
A former soldier of the tribe, he was cast out months before the delivery of his first child. He had been found out that he had been sleeping with a colonist woman secretly.
Wife - Chika Odanga - Soft Breeze - Dead
Toekii's childhood companion and late wife, she was killed three years after their marriage.

Personal History/Background:
Toekii was actually born Maka Tsikana, meaning 'He Who Sleeps Soundly' which was the name his mother gave him as he was one of the few children that slept quietly during the beginning of his life. He grew up as a Kabaka child would: learning how to hunt, fish, track, and overall contribute to the tribe as a warrior and hunter. Since his father had been Dishonored however, another father took up the cause to help the child out, as was custom in their tribe. The little Maka ended up growing together with a girl companion, Chika Odanga or Soft Breeze in their tongue, instead of just with a father figure. Because of this awkward predicament, Maka became equally skilled at women roles as much as he became skilled at the roles of the men. To exemplify this, after his learning periods with Chika and her father, Maka would come home and dance with his mother, learning the art of grace and fluidity as he did.

When he became of age to become a man (16, anyway), Maka was put to the test: perform a Gedoboni ritual that would help him hunt a Vidosalem, or molebear (for those confused, molebear is what the colonists called it: as the name suggests, it is a massive mole with bear like features). Maka, after a week of preparation alongside the three other initiates, prepared something odd. Instead of a weapon, a tool or an assistance, Maka created a brew that would allow him to not starve or become thirsty. When initiation started, Maka chose a pathway, and waited. The initiates had a full moon cycle to complete this challenge, and while the other two came back with the skins many days before the end, Maka came the night of with his. The reason? Maka sat in the bushes and waited for a molebear to walk the path, and it took the entire cycle. This prompted his name to be changed to Toekii Tsibuna, He Who Never Sleeps.

So began his days as a warrior and hunter for the tribe, and he found it satisfying. Well, maybe not entirely. See, deep inside Toekii was a burning sensation, one that could drove him to accel at everything he did, a sensation that drove him toward a goal he never knew he wanted: become chief. Two reasons drove this sensation. The first was that he knew he was destined by the spirits to lead. The second was that if he did not strive to be chief, he may not find a life partner. In tradition, only the strongest warriors could take wives, known as life partners, so that the tribe would flourish and stay strong. Toekii, while very strong for his age, was nowhere near the same level as those above him, and the season for choosing a life partner was coming up. So Toekii, after surviving his twentieth summer, challenged Chieften Yaboonka to a dual for the right of chief.

The battle lasted two whole days, with neither side giving up: while Yaboonka was much older than Toekii, that did not make him any less of a strong warrior. In the end, however, Yaboonka fell by Toekii's makeshift spear made of tree wood, and Toekii honored the former chief as he slipped into death. The tribe was shocked to see Toekii return from the fighting ground and not their chief, but honored him as the superior fighter. When the choosing ceremony came around, Toekii once again shocked the tribe by choosing what many considered the 'plainest girl' to be his life partner: Chika. To prove their are compatible as partners, the tribe sends them on a hunt for the largest animal they can find in a span of three day cycles to see if their spirits can work together. When they came back, the fur of the Wayowaten towed behind them (literal translation is 'The Feared ones', but the colonists call them Spiderphant: a hideous breed of spider and elephant).

Three years later, Chika was pregnant with their first child, only half way at that. Toekii had lead the Kabaka people to a level of prosperity not often seen by the warrior folk, and they rejoiced. However, at the time the colonists were edging ever closer to lands of the Wakani, something that disturbed Toekii greatly: he had only seen these foreigners a few times, and their methods and alchemy were atrocious. He despised them, but not enough to take action. That is, until an incident occurred at the Wagonee, the Great River. Chika and Toekii were resting for the day, at which Toekii wanted to talk to his wife about a strange occurrence he had when he sang to a snake yesterday. Before he got the opportunity to, however, they heard the familiar roar of a Goni Bear (normal bear, but quite a bit larger and more scruffy looking) not far across the river. Both looked in shock as a few foreigners ran in terror from a ferocious bear, that was already caked in blood. Before Toekii could say a word, Chika dove into the river, determined to help while Toekii couldn't care less. Toekii, in light of this new development, jumped in shortly after to help his wife, as he knew that pregnancy had hindered her ability to fight. However, Toekii had never been as strong of a swimmer as Chika, who was out and running before he was halfway. By the time Toekii had gotten out and started sprinting, Chika was a few steps from engaging the bear to save the foreigners. With nothing but her fists, she stalled the bear to allow the men - who were shocked at the sight of a wildling helping them - to prepare those silly muskets of theirs.

Toekii arrived to assist, and together they gained some ground against the bear when the first musket shot went off. As usual, the lousy weapon shout wide, so Toekii ignored their idiocy for the time period to chase away the bear. Just as he was about to resort to Gedoboni, another shot went off - but this one did not hit the bear. Instead, the piece of metal shot right through Chika's back and lodged itself in her midsection, to the shocking surprise of everyone but the bear (which was backing off due to the loud noises). Toekii instantly ran to her, spluttering as he tried to save her and the developing child's life, but they both knew that she wouldn't make it - with the village too far away, she would die in his arms as he ran. So Toekii instead sat there with his darling Chika as they talked in hushed voices, the foreigners shocked into statues and the bear started walking towards the couple on the ground, poised to strike. As it began to shuffle close, however, Toekii did something odd: he began to sing a song to Chika. It was calming, melodious, but full of grief. By the time he had finished, she was already dead, but his plan was not: while singing, he mixed together elements of the earth to create a potent mixture, strong enough to tame any creature. AS the animal was poised to strike, Toekii threw the mixture into its face, and it was tamed instantly. Using the language of his people, he ordered the bear to kill the colonists as it saw fit, and it did so. Toekii crossed the river a bit farther upstream, but not out of the earshot of the screaming foreigners.

Toekii brought his wife's body back to the village in grief, and the village mourned the loss before preparing the ritual for the dead: a tree is planted within them, and then they are buried, as a symbol of the continuation of life. This sparked extreme tensions between the Kabakas and the colonists, but the new native confederation was in full swing: all they could do was elect Toekii as a councilor to exact their revenge, and he has attempted to do just that.

So begins...
