It was a strange-though nothing quite so peculiar happened in Jeong’s life, most of it was rather predictable. But this really took the cake. People tripped all the time but it was not just a regular nose bleed. With so much blood he had expected her to faint and yet she still had enough energy to race away. For a few minutes he watched her movements as drops of blood dripped on to the ground as she looked terribly confused before making her way over to the white haired girl for assistance.
Was this normal?
For a few more moments he attempted to make sense of the situation then feeling that he probably would not see the girl again, as the school was massive decided he needed a drink and some fresh air. One hand on his book he took a small glass of apple juice from a waiter and walked outside to the less crowded balcony.
Upon feeling the cool night breeze through his air he noticed a figure seated atop a tree branch. A custom for some species or race, perhaps? Jeong could not help but feel himself stare at the conspicuous female in casual clothes. What caught his eye the most was the array of feathers within her ponytail. He was not sure of whether to feel a sense of hostility towards the usage of birds in such a way or in awe of the female’s courage to be seen outside of the norm of societal party life.
Jeong knew that staring was rude but he could not quite help it. His eyes would trail down to his drink then move back to see whether the female was still sitting in the tree. The feathers, attire, attitude and the strange markings on her face made him oh-so-very curious.
As Jeong turned his gaze back on the girl in the tree she was moving and in fact jumping, her tone athlete's body carrying her easily enough to the balcony she was being observed from. Any looks of surprise or irritation were ignored or, for one poor girl, answered with a growl. Once her feet were firmly on solid ground she pulled at the bottom of her shirt to adjust it.
"Looks like you're all dressed up for the party, want to go back in there and get me some food?"
She was very tall-much taller than he had expected when she was sitting on the tree branch as she stood over top of him now. His shiny green eyes needed to be raised a bit upward just to look at her. He withheld a blank gaze. A bit deeper down within him a thought floated about, “it must be nice to be tall.” That thought vanished as soon as she addressed him.
“Looks like you’re all dressed up for the party, want to go back in there and get me some food?”
Did he look like a servant? No, she had mentioned the whole ‘dressed’ up part. Then she was ordering him to do something? A complete stranger! Well, the environment around here had to be pretty civil if strangers can ask other strangers to do chores for them. It is not like anyone has been killed yet, hopefully.
He placed the now empty glass that he had drained on to a nearby stand. There were waiters and people walking around so they would get his cup eventually.
“Wouldn’t it have been easier to get food if you had dressed up a little?” he innocently inquired. Although he would not exactly be considered THAT dressed; he had the idea to skip the whole mingling and the chatting but because that would be rude since it is the school’s anniversary, he threw on a white blouse and some clean black pants and shoes. It was nothing compared to the some people who had decked out.
If she wasn't going to be getting any more food it might be a good time to head off. Physical violence or the threat of it wouldn't do much good in this situation. Too much effort for someone she probably wouldn't interact with again. "Well, whatever."
"Thanks to her it's a little less urgent." the blonde thought with a smile.
"You helped me a lot. Thank you," she spoke once again and looked to her right.
"Oh, the bathroom. There it is, let's go there. Don't bump into people that much." she thought while walking.
"So far I kinda have sucess... kinda. Maybe I should have introduced to the girl properly, she might turn out to be a good friend. Well, to be fair, I painted myseld all in red, so I had to go quickly. Ugh, I hope it will go away before I go home. I don't want my parents to see me like that... they'll go crazy..." she thought while washing herself.
Abigail went out of the bathroom with the handkerchief stuffed in her nose, as her left arm was lifted upwards.
"I should also come back to Tazuki too. He probably thought I was weird, or offended... or both. I must fix that, because he might turn out to be a good friend too. What to do next? I better go outside first and wait for the nasal waterfall to stop. I should think in the meantime... I hope I won't miss my chances..."
After some time alone outside the ball, Abby went back, ready for round 2.
"Whoever I see first. I'll go with the flow. I might start talking to more people... but I already talked to those two, so it would be easier if I focus on them so far." she thought. "Ah!"
"Hey, Tazuki! Er, sorry for my sudden and long departure. I really needed to use the bathroom... Ah, uh, not that, it's because there was blood... Well, forget what I just said, soo hello again! Hey, perhaps we're in the same year! By the way, are you familliar with that girl, Angel?" she spoke to him.
After he had finished his reply Abigail asked one more question which involved Angel, he scratched the back of his neck and made a confused face, "Well...to tell you the truth, I don't realy know anything about her exept her name. Sure I may have had some classes with her but I don't interact much with her except with the simple greetings."He also left out the part where he sometimes pranks the girl since he wanted to keep that a secret.
Jeong thought that her straightforward thinking was- something admirable. Although he could not quite figure out what was so funny about the whole dressing up along with the girlish things. The person she described was similar to his own sister with the curtseys, twirls and giggles and all. There did not seem to be anything out of the ordinary.
Oh well, he shrugged it out. Another reason why he did not bother to understand his refreshing unusual classmates, everyone just seemed so different that it felt hard to interact with them while being unable to understand them.
Now that he thought about it after the thoughts crossed his mind and were digested, he did not know anyone’s names in his classes. Even ‘better’, he did not know the name of the stranger he was even talking to! His avoidance must have caused many of the students to dislike him for his disrespect. It felt a bit shameful, and he broke two rules that his tutors had embedded in his head, in one night, just on manners; one was the whole staring and the other was that fact that he had questioned the normalcy of a female without realizing it-the horror. He needed to correct himself.
“I don’t really understand you,” he hesitated; the words came out a lot worse than he thought. In his stressed mind he could feel the imaginary mystifying images of his tutors and their disapproval with re-correction tools. This is what happened when he spoke the first thing that came to his mind when thought too little. “If I get you food, will you tell me why miss you think that way?”the younger boy covered up his rude blunder.
Sure giving food to a stranger was, weird, but he had been the indecent one in the first place. The most he could do was salvage his mistakes and attempt his properness once more, the clearly older student must have thought him to be a brat or some unsavory pheasant.
Abigail noticed that the tissue was still in her nose, despite the end of her nose bleeding, so she quickly took it off.
"So you're in the same year as her..." she spoke before her eyes widened in shock.
"Oh no... What's going on here?" her voice trembled, as she was watching the girls gaining up on Angel.
Abigail was too afraid to do anything. Transforming might get her in trouble with teachers, going to the rescue as a human would end up with the three girls bullying both of them. She felt a bit ashamed of her fear of saving the girl who gave her a tissue.
"In the middle of an event? Where actual teachers and the principal are here? Does this happen often in this school? What now?" Abby asked Tazuki.
"Well now...I'm not the one who would use force to do anything, but someone has to help her. Besides, if they are this bold to push a lady in public, there is no telling what else they may do. I will go help her, you can help too if you want or go find a teacher to break this up." Tazuki Responded to Abigail's question before walking to the group with a calm expression.
"Greetings fellow classmates!" He called at the group, "My name is Tazuki Kaito, and I am a student who noticed that you three are picking on that young lady over there. I would like to ask you kindly to stop picking on her, especially during a event like this." He then smiled at the group. At the very least in the worst case scenario, he would be their target instead but at least he can buy some time for an adult to arrive, or some help from the large crowd of students.
"Teacher... A teacher! Where should I find a teacher?" she mumbled to herself with both of her hands on her head.
The girl stared walking in a direction, not knowing what happened there. She didn't know if someone else interfered, or all of the witnesses left it on Tazuki.
"I might lose time if I look behind. Must find an adult right now!" she thought. "Both of you, hang in there!"
Abigal's face lit at the sigh of what seemed to be an adult, hopefully a teacher.
"Excuse me!" she approached the middle-aged man. "Please, come with me!" she grabbed him by the hand.
"What is going on here?" he asked.
"Please, come!"
"First, tell me what is going on here!"
"It's very urgent, there is no time! Please, come!"
"Stop pulling my arm and tell me everything!"
In her panic Abby tried to explain everything, but it was barely understandable.
"In other words?" the man asked impatiently.
"There is a fiiiiiiiight!" Abby almost yelled in her panic, as her trembling arm was extended at the direction she came from, pointing at it with a finger. Then both of them headed to the place of the fight.
This caused the older girl and her friends to flinched, their scared eyes locked into Angel's blood red ones. "H-how dare you disrespect your senior! I can't wait to leave this place and never see you again!" Tricks shouted in disgust. Angel was about to add another comeback but her eyes suddenly stopped it's bright glow, becoming dull and gloomy. She became unsteady on her feet, weak and started to cough again, her pale skin even more pale. "Why is that thing always sick?" Trixie growled under her breath.
What surprised him was Angels reply to the three after they had told her go back to where you belong, "you mean by your grave?" It sounded like a threat and it appeared that she was going to fight back against the bullies, but then she began to cough and turn more pale which looked like she had gotten realy sick. He thought after her threat, the three would take this oppurtunity to "kick her while she was down," and decided to step in-between the two parties before speaking, "I belive this is enough you three, so I ask you to leave her alone for the time being until a teacher arrives." He spoke with relative calmness.
Soon both of them reached the place of the conflict.
Abigail's face lit up at the sight of Tazuki standing between Angel and her bullies.
"Great job, Tazuki!" she thought in admiration before her smile got erased.
"Is she alright?" the blonde asked.
"What in the world is going on here?" The man asked. "Angel Blood-Rose! What is it this time?"
He looked at the staircase and at the top of it, there was a statue on the ground and it was not clear if someone was injured or not. At that point he decided to rest for now and let the teachers do the rest of the work, "they went that way and one of them is called Trixie." He then pointed in the diction he saw them go before waving back at them and left for the table with the drinks and food.
"Looks like the fight isn't the problem for now. You go somewhere, me and the other working staff will look for injured people." the man told Abby.
"Ok..." she replied in a slightly high pitched voice. Her brain was screaming and trying to realize how come he seemed so calm about this.
"Is all of this something normal around here?" she thought as she was frozen in place. "Okay. I'm done for now. I'm done. I need to go outside for a while... again."
Abby slowly walked outside with a stiff body posture, her shocked eyes rarely blinked.
"I musn't tell my parents about this. No harm done. Everything's fine," she thought and bent herself against a tree that wasn't far away from the tree Billy climbed on earlier.
"No harm done? I really hope so... I ran out too fast to know..."
Didn't matter to her one way or another. She could play along for the sake of more free food. Answer some dumb questions as she filled her belly. Of course she hadn't missed the confrontation inside, watching over Jeong's shoulder. She might have stepped in too but the school frowned on violence and it was her sole source of conflict resolution. What was life without a bloody nose? So boring.
Upon seeing the buffet table a second time, it still would baffle the sixteen year old boy to no end. Sure he had gone to parties, formal ones, but the amount of food was often limited to a suitable amount so that everyone could have a bit. This buffet table could feed a whole country ranging from Chinese cuisines to Irish desserts. The tables could have stretched for miles if they were not placed in such an organized fashion.
He avoided the tomato dishes like she had told him to. He went to the meats section, assuming that she liked meats with her healthy body. He had learned a long time ago that meats were a good source for building muscles but no matter how much he ate it his muscles never expanded a lot. Jeong was not a big fan of meat to begin with, unless it was fish.
A few steaks, ribs, curry fishballs, some pork meats and a lamb to finish the slightly towering pile of food on the dish. That certainly would do, the plate was thirty centimeters high with food. The other students gave him a few odd looks, how shameful of him.
Jeong plopped the dish in front of the girl seating himself on the ground in front of the dish. Well, he hoped she was satisfied with this amount although going through such an effort to please someone, it was like being back at home all over again. Why did answers never come easily?
"Do you always ask strangers to give you food?" Whoops! He had done it again, letting his mouth run on its own. It was too late now and Jeong was already feeling the fatigues of the night. It honestly could not be helped.
While not particularly starved she did enjoy meat and would devour it with great gusto when capable. Her sharp canines did their work and even flashes as they caught the light from inside, dripping with saliva. This girl was comfortably in tune with her inner animal and did nothing to hide it.
"Now I'll continue. I'll find a table with people and sit with them. Nothing bad will happen. If I find Tazuki or Angel there, it will be a bit easier, though," she thought and touched her silver pendant with the "Avengers" logo.
"Stella, you'll be proud of me when I make close friends by myself." Abby mumbled to herself and took her breakfast.
After she'd allowed herself to look at Angel just a fraction too long she dodged through a crowd of slower students and with a bark of annoyance continued on to the dining hall. A morning run was always great but there was no resisting the allure of meal time on the campus. She'd have to stuff her face quickly and book it back to her dorm to shower and change. Every instinct in her cried out for a shower if only to reduce the likelihood that something bigger might catch her scent.
Soon she was seated at a table, head down to avoid conversations, and shoveling food into her mouth.
