▪Has recently become a self-proclaimed pescatarian, though she still sticks to eggs. ▪Always has a pad of sticky notes in case an idea strikes her. ▪Her left eyebrow kinks upward instinctively when she is feeling flirtatious or when she feels insulted. ▪Quirks her lips to the side when she is judging someone. ▪Hums when she is cooking. ▪Needs complete silence when she is writing mode. ▪Tucks her hair behind her ears to give herself time to come up with the right words during certain situations. ▪Lowers her gaze for a second when she receives a compliment. ▪She talks in her sleep; not as if she is having a full-blown conversation, but little mumblings like things she would never say consciously. ▪Refers to children as “little people.” ▪Calls the bathroom the “loo”. ▪Extremely ticklish

øFalling in loveø
Every person wants to find love. They say they don't, but that's never really the case. They are just afraid. And even though Jenna will deny this to the four corners of the Earth, she is undoubtedly terrified of falling in love. She doesn't know who she is without these insecurities and her father's struggles plaguing her every thought. So, she is fearful of someone unpeeling these layers of bitchiness and elusiveness to see how broken she truly is and not wanting her afterwards. Sex is easy. Anyone can do it. Allowing someone to love you - soul mate or not - is hard.
øDark and enclosed spacesø
Well, when you're twelve and four girls gang up on you, lock you in this dark and small cellar thing for three hours even though you bang on the door and beg to be let out, and your teachers think you obviously skipped classes can leave you scarred. It's easy to explain this fear for another character on paper, but if you ever ask Jenna to overcome said fear, she will probably slap you.
øDisappointing her momø
Her mom would have wanted her to become strong and this false sense of security she's got going on is not achieving that goal. Jenna knows she should have sought out counseling and learned to let more people in. But it's so hard and she can feel the pressure of disappointing her mom weighing down on her. But how can you fix something's that's already been broken all by yourself?
|{Secrets}|
✤Bullying✤
Most of the other celebrities or those who have seen her interviews and have heard her opinions on teen girl empowerment just think that she’s really passionate about it. Some even speculate that this all for publicity. What she has yet to tell them is that Jenna dealt with bullying for nearly seven years and by the time it was over, she was a wreck. And the only reason she ever held it all together was because her little sister was counting on her. The bullying only worsened to the years and the girls even locked her this small and dark space. Jenna had been so scared that she passed out. The scars from when she used to cut herself have healed over, but you can still see the faded white lines from a pain that went by unnoticed.
✤Her Father✤
Most people don’t even know that he still exists. Jenna has kept her life so private that there are only speculations and rumors around, and none of them are the truth. What is the truth is that Jenna has not spoken with her father in nearly a year now. After her mother died, Jenna had to grow up fast to take care of her sister as her father succumbed to a life-long commitment to alcohol. She spent years trying to get him to get help to no avail. Last year, when she thought he was getting better, he started abusing again and her sister came to live with her.

Providence, Rhode Island
|{History}|
When you think of the background Jennifer gave to the public, you would think that she had it pretty well. She attended an all girls' Catholic school from five all the way to high school. She came from an upper middle class family, living in a very nice home in Providence, Rhode Island. Not much happened there, right? She had a lot of family support when it came to writing. The picture she painted would have made you think that she was simply groomed to become a part of the rich and elite of America.
In reality, a part of that truth has been smudged. She did have a pretty decent family life when it came to support and finances. But school had never been that great. As a child, Jenna was definitely on the thicker side - she hates the words chubby or fat; they bring up too many unwanted memories. While the teachers were strict the majority of the time, the true conflict in her youth came from the girls she studied with. While most would think that the uniform left little for anyone to tease anyone else about, there was always this one group of girls - Grace, Laurel and Annabeth. Annabeth and Jenna used to be best friends, but when Jess turned ten and started developing early, it left room for taunting.
And taunt, they did. Every day they picked at her for her weight. They put extra servings on her plate at meals because "she was going to sneak the food anyway." They knocked her books on the ground and would sometimes screw with her desk for the hell of it. They even locked her away in this small and dark space that left her pretty much scarred for a month. And it wasn't like her mom didn't try to do anything. While Oliver Harris would have loved to do something for his daughter, his position as an employee of Grace's father left him unable to make a move lest he lost his job. Marie didn't have that kind of patience. She even got into an altercation with Grace's mother, her husband's job be damned. But it was no use. The more Jenna talked, the worse the girls got. So, she buried herself in books and writing.
And it helped. But she was damaged. She began cutting her wrists because she had become so numb to the taunting and abuse. By the time she turned thirteen, she had become a shell of the happy girl her mother knew. Marie tried everything; she even wanted to take Jennifer out of the school and put her elsewhere. But they paid big money for their daughter's education; Jenna had always been rather smart and Tibby would know doubt follow suit. And Jenna promised that she was fine and painted a smile on her face. Then tragedy struck. It was a car accident, on a rainy night - how cliché! Jenna could tell you exactly where she was when the incident occurred, but the one thing that will always be on her mind is the day one of the police officers - a friend of Oliver's - came and broke the news. She was fourteen. It was the night before her birthday.
From that day on, her family was destroyed. Her father spiraled into an alcoholic depression, disappearing at nights because he was too ashamed for his daughters to see how much of a failure he was to them. Jennifer was tasked with taking care of Tibby. You'd think that the girls at school would cut her some slack; they didn't. She had simply become so numb that they grew bored with her and only fucked with her every now and then. And Jenna? She hardened herself; she learned to bottle all of her emotions, never exactly showing how hurt she truly is, how much her self-esteem and overall self-worth had plummeted. But it speaks through her writing, which is how she got her first publication and commercial success with her first book, which spanned a series. Years later and Jenna was in California, far from home with only one real friend. And sure, she knows her mother would probably be disappointed with how she has managed her life, but it is what it is. She doesn't know how to be what her mom would have wanted. She just knows how to be what everyone else would expect.

On a night when she couldn’t sleep, Marie made Jenna some cinnamon hot chocolate with whipped cream and they cuddled watching Doctor Who.

Begging her father to stop drinking and to get help. But he didn’t listen and threw a glass bottle. It was the last time they had a meaningful conversation.
