It was a mean town, a beautiful town. After the sixties, they tried to keep it still, keep it quiet within themselves but they kept getting refugees, the kind that couldn’t afford to live Aboveground. Nowadays, it was especially bad. Several families would trickle in yearly. The population was made up of a majority of minorities—Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, Middle Easterners. Few white people, being a purebred of anything was rare. Here, in Babylon, over generations, they had created a race of dark, catlike creatures, a rainbow of skin, vicious eyes, cruel lips, cold-bloodied bodies toned to perfection.

It was not that they - the Libertines, those who lived in Exvivo - lacked morals. They simply lived on a different set of morals, ones that disregarded political correctedness, blue-ribbon etiquette and the righteous facade so common to the people Aboveground. They loved fiercely, murder was performed for justice, and loyalty was a matter of life or death. Theirs was a world that revolved around survival, desire, and allegiance. It could be said that Exvivo never progressed past the simple-mindedness of the Dark Ages - but they would reply that the Aboveground had “advanced” to the point where they had lost their humanity. Those people had created technology and were bound by it, but the Libertines created technology and made it their slave, used it to enforce their world views of an age long lost in the apartments, offices, restaurants, bars, businesses, newspapers and magazines of New York.

They developed their own culture: fight clubs, stadiums, clubs, brothels, street parades, all integrated with the technology they had founded. A hooker there, a pimp here, a homeless man waxing theology with an executioner. A woman with sapphire-studded cheeks, a man with wires like maps glowing behind the skin of his temples, a naked youth with feathers stitched along his spine. Cutters, addicts, gamblers, and some of the most talented human beings on the face of this planet. There, an obese lady with a beautifully painted face was having coffee and laughing at some kids, and over there, a pale, alien-like couple were holding hands and chatting. Behind you, a group screams in delight at re-uniting after a month of no contact and before you, eleven people are shrieking in drunken delight at a game of limbo.

Exvivo is upheld by its Tribes - groups of Militia, or Gladiators as they are sometimes called. Each Tribe has its own laws and its own system. Some Tribes fight in the name of their God, others fight for the sake of bloodlust, still others fight for the money and the fame. Routinely, Tribes will battle each other, send out their champions, or execute great acts of violence to claim territory. The aim of the game is for your Tribe to rise to the top, gain power in Exvivo, and bask in the glory of your life accomplishments.

But this is not all. Libertines hold the ideal of a "Pure Tribe" - a Tribe not separated and whole since its birth. Many tribes, on their rise to the top, will crumble and fall. There is no glory for two Militia to claim the crown. This is a world where the glory must belong to the community - or nobody at all.

If you're reading this, then I congratulate you for even getting this far! I know it's a lot of information but bear with me (: The aim of this RP:

1. Make Tribes. Rise to power. IF POSSIBLE, rise to power with a complete number of 6.
2. Thwart other Tribes by defeating them in combat, or getting rid of their Warriors through intrigue, bribery, romance, etc.
3. Develop your character into a deep, history-filled, complex individual with plenty of social ties.
4. KEEP UP WITH THE HADES REPORT! Many new things will be revealed through it.
5. There will be global plot advancements, but those remain a secret for now!

Additionally, you MUST develop your character outside of combat - otherwise, you are probably much better suited to play in RG's Arena forum. It is crucial to maintain your character's storyline so that you know where you are when the big plot advancements occur!
