Name: Helena Joselynn Demontian Nurse

Nickname(s): None, she only prefers Helena. Of course, there are always the people who come up with annoying nicknames, or those who call her 'princess'. (which infuriates her) In Chesire, where she hails from, she's known as the infamous and mythical Black Raven.

Age: 22 (709)

Birthday: Jan 12, 1303 (Human Birth)
July 31, 1319 (Rebirth)

Bloodtype: Helena is awfully picky when it comes to feeding. Although she doesn't quite mind most bloodtypes, her preferred choice is AB+. Seeing that it is a slightly more rare bloodtype, she'll sparsely ever enjoy most feedings.

Place of Origin: Chesire, England

She tends to be very sympathetic towards him | She is also sympathetic towards *Matt Dallas*. Not only because she is his maker, but also because he reminds her of her younger brother. | She keeps most of her past a secret, particularly the time period between her early vampirism to when she first joined the Forbearers. She's dabbled on being a bitch, but after the death of her younger brother, her goal has always been to change herself for the better. |

Personality
Helena's personality is quite enigmatic, as certain sources will tell you something different about the young woman than others. On the one hand, those who usually have a higher ranking than her describe her as being impenetrably loyal, intelligent, strategic, practical, and wise. With a professional and no-nonsense attitude, Helena usually puts herself next to the procurer as well as the leader of the Forbearers (whom she is devotedly obedient to ) at almost all times. She shows respect and restraint towards those above her ; comparable to a knight following the code of chivalry. She will obey orders without question, and will come back from her missions successful, or else she will die trying.

On the other hand, those ranked below her in the Forbearers know her to be a condescending, strict, and a stick-in-the-mud sort of woman. A running joke about Helena for the new whelps of the coven is that she never smiles. She's an enforcer all right; when she's not on a mission or doing something of great importance, she can be found watching over the procurers, as well as the humans. She scolds people whenever they are goofing off. Being of traditional nature and upbringing, she sticks to the rules at all times, and clearly makes them aware to others. With her seemingly cold and uncaring personality, for some, her scoldings are amusing, while for others, they're just downright scary.

However, never let first impressions fool you. She displays a much softer side towards those whom she respects or admires. When someone has a problem, she shows remarkable compassion and concern. She can even have a motherly nature due to her wise and mature traits. Another thing about Helena is that she is seemingly still living in the early 1300's, as her mannerisms tend to be very ancient-like. For example, she still has a habit of using 'sir' or 'lady' right before addressing a person's name. Also, she will bow to people of respect at various times, as well randomly speak and write in medieval slang and pronunciation. She can't quite curse right either, often using funny shakespearean phrases instead of modern everyday swears.

Despite her pessimistic behavior, Helena is a dreamer and an idealist. She is passionate about her work, as well as her hobbies and interests. Her anger and strictness comes in part from her emotional vulnerability. Being skilled in hiding secrets has made her a master at hiding her feelings as well. This doesn't mean that she isn't honest towards others, it's just that her selflessness makes her view getting out emotions as being 'self-indulgent'. Her selflessness also makes Helena a perfect candidate for becoming a martyr, as she views honor for others greater than her own needs.

History

Helena Demontian was born in Blackburn, England on Jan 12, 1303; a couple of years before the Hundred Years War. The Demontians were nobles who had agreed to let their only daughter marry the duke of Chesire when she was only fifteen years old. The duke, of course, viewed the marriage as a joyous occasion; not only would he be gaining more land, but he would be courting a beautiful young woman as well. What he didn't know was that the Demontians had a well kept secret; most of their ancestors who had lived during the Roman Empire were prophecies and psycics. It had been so long, however, that a person born within their lineage had acquired these psycic gifts. Little did they know that a new 'oracle' would reveal herself soon.

Helena had lived a remote life in her husband's small castle while he went off to hunt and do his official duties. It was around the age of seventeen that Helena started to see strange visions of battles and warfare while asleep. After doing some research in the castle's library, she realized that what she had been seeing in her visions had actually occured in the past. She learned that this was an ability known as retrocognition. She kept this a secret, even hiding her gift from servants and maids who helped her throughout the day.

As time passed, her ability seemed to start fading away. Tensions grew with her husband, and Helena found herself in deep water. Discovering that the young duchess was unable to bare children, the duke's court men urged him to execute Helena, for if he didn't, there would be no heir to the noble position. Growing deep affection for the woman, he refused. This only made his men angry. In the meantime, the girl had become slightly more rebellious. She started to learn the ways of an apothecary, and brewed medicines, draughts, and even poisons in secret. One day, the duke had brought his wife a shiny new necklace. When she touched it, something terrifying happened. Helena started to see visions of the past, watching the murder of a young woman who had previously worn the necklace. In a demonic voice, she spoke what had happened in the visions out loud, scaring the duke as well as his court men. Little did they know that the duchess was performing clairsentience; a form of recognition that recalls the memories and events of people by touching an object that once belonged to them. After Helena blanked out, the duke rushed to the shop where he had bought the necklace. Sure enough, it had been sold to the small business by a man who had been the murderer of the woman in the vision.

After the maids found out about Helena's apothecary secret as they dragged her off to bed, once again, the duke's court men urged him to execute his own wife. With the things she had been doing, they were convinced that she was a witch, as well as a threat to Chesire. The duke was troubled and worried. He truly loved Helena, but knew that it was best for his reputation as well as his people if she was gone. Instead of execution, he declared that if Helena performed a strange act again, she would be banished to the dungeons for eternity. Furious over his caring and judgemental decision, the court men kidnapped Helena, brought her far away from the town into the forest, stabbed her in the chest, and left her to die. Before the disappeared, they had shouted that they had done the act 'for the safety of the duke'. As blood flowed out of her body like a river, she wept as she thought about her husband betraying her.

It was then that a brunette-haired woman approached her. After the woman had asked her what had happened, Helena had explained that she had been falsely accused for being a witch, and the duke had sent his men to kill her. The woman, strangely, offered her a chance to get back at the man. Thinking she was practically dead anyway, Helena accepted the unrealistic offer. After that, everything went black. When Helena woke up, she felt a peculiar feeling all throughout her body. It was then that a human (presumbly one of the duke's men) had entered the forest to make sure the woman was dead. Having a strange craving for his blood, Helena lept towards the man and attacked him. She then realized that she was a vampire, and she was undead.

Seeking vengeance, Helena kept her identity a secret as she re-entered Chesire. She threatened a knight to teach her in swordfighting, or else she would kill him. He agreed, and although he had kept his half of the bargain, Helena didn't keep hers. She fed off of him, as well as other unlucky victims during the night. Eventually, the woman snuck into the castle and killed/fed on the duke's men, as well as on her own husband. The death of the duke left Chesire in turmoil. Thinking that the ghost of Helena Nurse had come back to haunt the town, the citizens gave her the title 'Black Raven'. Convinced that the woman's relatives were also witches and were behind the attacks, the cavalry men rode to Blackburn and raided the city. They also executed Helena's brother, whom she was extraordinarily close to, in a public hanging. Devestated by her brother's death, the newly-turned vampire made a goal to never cause destruction with her abilities again, and vowed to change herself for the better. If she was going to live life as a demonic creature, she would at least do so with restraint and honor.

It was some time until she had found the woman who had turned her. She eventually joined the Forbearers, and moved up in ranks as she grew. With vampirism also came the growth of her clairsentience. This allowed her to not only fight off the Fallen, but also do detective-like work on the side. Eventually, Helena became the Forbearer's enforcer, a title that she still holds today.

It was also during this time of developing in her vamparism that Helena came across a drunken man standing on the edge of a cliff. No doubt, the man would be dead in a couple of seconds if he were to jump off of the cliff into the raging waters below. Taking pity on the fool, she tried to convince him to think twice about ending his life. Even in his drunken state, the man reminded Helena of her younger brother as he told her his depressing story. Not wanting to see another good soul die another tragic death, she turned him. She desperately wanted to just leave him be as a human, but she knew there was no other way to truly save him than to bring him into the world of the undead. She watched over him as he was unconcious, and once he woke up, she told him about the Forbearers. He joined, and now Helena does her best to watch over him.

Anything Else

Skills
  • Swordfighting~ Having been trained in swordsmanship and using swords as her primary weapon for over 600 years has made Helena a lethal sword-wielder. She uses a one-handed, silver-bladed sword with encrusted red gems as her primary weapon in combat. She has learned archery over the past couple of years, but she doesn't feel control over the bow the same way she does control over a sword. She can also use a shield, but it's too much to carry for standard missions.
  • Clairsentience~ Having this form of recognition as a mortal, Helena's clairsentience has grown stronger in vampirism. It is especially useful in detective work. Although Helena can control this psycic ability at will, its usage comes with a cost. Depending on the importance and signifigance of the item she is using clairsentience on, she can experience fatigue, dizziness, and unconciousness after using the skill. For some reason, it also drains a lot of the blood from her system, and almost immediately after using the ability, she will need to feed in order to become strong again.
  • Intelligence~ Helena has always been known to have the ability to use her brawn as well as her brains in combat. She is especially knowledgeable in all things history-related, as well as things regarding politics.
  • Apothecary~ Having practiced the art of brewing draughts since she was a mortal, Helena is an exceptional apothecary. She is knowledgeable in plants and herbs, and can create copious amounts of medicine as well as poison. Unfortunately, the draughts she creates don't work the best with vampires. However, they do come in handy for the Forbearers' pets. If one of them was hurt, Helena could heal them with her natural remedies.

Miscellaneous
  • Helena always wears her blonde hair in a high bun, or in a low ponytail. She rarely wears her hair down, despite the fact that people have told her it looks quite beautiful when it's not tied up.
  • Her voice is so deep and booming, that people believe she was turned into a vampire at a much older age than she actually was.
  • Surprisingly, Helena enjoys gambling more than she seems like she would. She knows a variety of card games. Her two favorites are classic poker and blackjack.
  • She holds her sword in her left hand, but does everything else with her right hand.
  • She has been given the nickname 'princess' as a joke, despite the fact that she was actually a duchess.
