Bryan sat in the corner of a tent, a frown on his face. He had been spending the last three years training to be a guardian, on Kilika. Now he found himself on Besaid, on the recommendation of Hardin, a guardian who had saved him many years ago. He was actually the one that inspired him. This island sucked, it was small and boring, nothing to do whatsoever. The summoner also didn't seem to enjoy him being here whatsoever.

He stood up and made his way outside, looking to the large temple at the edge of town. It was the only permanent structure on the island. "Beautiful day." Bryan wasn't sure if it was a statement or a question. He turned to see Hardin looking into the sky. "Ya, I guess it is."

Rhia was pacing back and forth, gripping her staff tightly. She didn't want to admit it, but she was beginning to be nervous. Today was the day she enter the cloisters underneath the temple, and attempt her first summoning. If she succeeded, her pilgrimage would begin. She would get to travel all over Spira, collecting Aeons to eventually defeat Sin. It was a huge task, a task that not just anyone could accomplish. But she was confident that she would be able to. She was determined, and had trained all her life for this moment. Her eyes drifted to Ivory, who was calmly sitting in the corner, watching Rhia's every move. A small smile spread across Rhia's mouth. It gave her comfort to know Ivory would be by her side. The one constant she had known in her life would remain constant throughout her pilgrimage. The other two guardians she wasn't too happy about. They were unknown. Ivory had suggested the guardian Hardin herself, praising his capabilities, so she supposed he would do well enough. The fourth guardian, however, she didn't want to accompany her at all. Someone she'd never met in her life, willing to guard her to the death seemed downright foolish. It didn't settle well with her, and she guessed that he had some other motive for coming along.

She pushed all the negative thoughts from her mind. This wasn't what she needed to be thinking about before she went to her trial. Ivory stood, walking over to stand next to Rhia, and placed a hand on her shoulder, squeezing it reassuringly. "I'm ready." Rhia's voice sounded strong, with no hint of fear. "Let's go," she said before she walked out of the tent, heading for her destination: the temple. Once outside, her eyes found both Hardin and Bryan waiting for her. She met each of their gazes for only a brief moment, her eyes hard and unwavering. Then she turned her back on them, taking her first steps toward the temple, hearing Ivory fall into step behind her.
