h e i g h t x // x5'8"

w e i g h t x // x147lbs

h a i r x // xA dark brown like the two eldest children. Unlike his siblings, Alex keeps his hair cut short.

e y e s x // xBlue-grey

o d d i t i e s x // xOn the rare occassion he lets any semblence of a beard grow, it's a reddish-auburn colour.

a p p e a r a n c e x // x Alec is the youngest of the Chambers children and, much to his annoyance, retains some of the roundness in his features that Laurence has since shed. To his own mind, he is the least visually impressive of the children. Sigrid is fierce, Laurence is strong, and Elira is beautiful. He is Alec. He walks carefully, his footsteps barely making a sound as he moves and he lacks the noble posture of his family, namely from years spent bent over a book. His years indoors have also led to Alec having a paler complexion than most men around his age, which is enhanced by his dark hair. In a few more years, Alec might be considered handsome, but right now he is still boyish in his appearance.

Tactician x // x While Sigrid and Laurence may be the warriors of the brood, Alec is a gifted tactician, even if he doesn't always realise that he is.

Patience x // x Like his moniker, Alec is an extraordinarily patient man. No one can honestly say that he has ever lost his temper.

Intelligence x // x Having spent his formative years studying in solitude, and continuing on to being the unofficial spymaster and official archivist of the Western Bluffs, Alec's mind is kept sharp and is his greatest asset.

Herbalismx // x It might be dismissed by some as a woman's world, but Alec knew from his early teens the importance of knowing which plants can heal, which can weaken, sicken, and which can kill a man outright.

Physical strength x // x Having shucked weapons training at the first opportunity, Alec lacks the physical strength of his siblings. His strength lies in his mental fortitude.

Solitary x // x By his nature, Alec is a solitary young man. He doesn't make friends easily and can be uneasy when people seek out his company.

M E T U M
xxxxxxxxxxxxx f e a r xx \ ˈ f i r \ x

Failing to protect his family x // x Just because he does not swing a sword does not mean Alec does not desire to protect his brother and sisters, which he tries to do in his own way.

Letting someone inx // x While he loves his family, he keeps them at arms length. The same goes for any of his more intimate relationships. There is always a wall there stopping anyone getting too close. He fears what will become of him when someone pushes past those walls and sees the boy beneath them.

P E R S O N A L I T A T E
xxxxxxxxxxxxx Adaptable xx Patient xx Introverted xx Secretive x

Alec is an odd boy. While most of his noble peers are sociable, sometimes to the point of gregariousness, Alec is perfectly content with his own company. He can socialise, it's a trapping of his status that he has to, but he finds it draining and is usually the first to make his excuse to leave. He's perfected the timing on when to leave a party so as to not offend the hosts. To those who don't know him, Alec is quiet and withdrawn. The reality is that Alec prefers to be a closed book, that way, he can manage people's expectations of him. He doesn't mean to be a control freak, he just grew up to be one. Alec has extraordinary control of his emotions and lacks the volatile temper of his elder sister and father. In his twenty years, no one has ever seen Alec lose his temper, or so they say. The truth of the face is that Alec's anger smoulders rather than explodes. If someone slights his family, his anger and patience and skill weave together to seek retribution. He has an anger in him, just not an explosive one.

While he keeps most people at arm's length, he is softer when it comes to Elira. Her own disposition settles his and he finds himself being the person he might have been and his formative years not been so isolated. He is still quiet, prone to long bouts of thinking with Elira, but he's more open with her, more inclined to a clumsy attempt at humour. He can be quite dry when the mood takes him, but he seldom talks to people enough to form that sort of camaraderie.

Whether his isolation is self-inflicted or a result of his parents' benign neglect is a matter for debate, but whatever caused it, it has formed an arm of who Alec is and has made his position as spymaster that much easier to maintain. If he has no one prying for his attention or information, then he cannot unintentionally reveal what he knows until he is ready. Everything is about remaining in control. That being said, Alec is an adaptable young man. One does not command a network of spies without a degree of flexibility; information changes, people falter, all of this must be absorbed without missing a stride.

H I S T O R I A R U M

As the youngest child and the second born son, Alec knew he would have to prove that he was important rather than coast on his noble blood to get him ahead. Alec is the youngest of four children and as such was a quiet child, especially with the decidedly headstrong Sigrid looking after him. There was a worry for a while that Alec was mute and so he was more hidden than the rest of the noble children in order to avoid any embarrassment to the family. His absence as a child was excused as him being sickly, a label that sticks with him to this day despite being in generally good health. Once Sigrid and Laurence had their own studies to contend with, Alec began to come into his own and it became apparent that Alec was not mute, just a quiet child since his three siblings were acting as his voice.

While Sigrid and Laurence were gifted warriors, it was clear that Alec lacked their prowess. He was good enough to defend himself, but perhaps not enough to be joining the guard as was the usual path for the second son. It was academics were Alec shone, enhanced by his early years spent reading to occupy himself. He was also incredibly observant which Alec reckons came from years of watching life in the Western Bluffs rather than participating in it. He knew that Sigrid resented the attention she had from boys, that Laurence was popular, that Elira was the perfect daughter. Since he rarely had the attention of his parents, Alec began working with the archivist and began recording the daily goings on as they were reported; imports, outports, taxation. As the years passed, the archivist's sight began to fail as old age caught up with him and Alec increasingly took on more responsibilities until he was the archivist in all but name.

During his time as an apprentice, Alec noticed discrepancies in the books that didn't add up, money going missing, production being noted wrongly. He began investigating but soon found that, as a Chamber, there were only so many places he could get before he was noticed. And so Alec began to slip coin into the servants of the noble houses in exchange for the information the invisible could provide. While he couldn't find evidence enough to accuse anyone of the theft, he certainly gathered enough information to have leverage on the houses. A letter here, a sly word there as it was required, and the coffers prospered. Alec grew his network of spies and it is now said that nothing happens in the Western Bluffs without Alexander Chambers finding out about it.

The prospects presented by the gathering both thrill Alec and fill him with trepidation. It's a new place, a new set of people to observe, a bigger group to have in his pocket. Of course, he may well have to establish a new network to assist him in that, but there are plenty who are more loyal to coin than any banner. The trepidation comes from the expectations of his parents for this meeting. The part of him that wants to make his parents proud is overshadowed by the part that refuses to condemn himself to an unhappy marriage. While he's aware many noble marriages are those of allegiance and convenience, Morwenna's marriage a prime case, he knows he will never be interested in any of the beautiful women. Alec has known for several years that he prefers the company of men, which is, to his mind at least, just another way he manages to embarrass his father. He keeps his dalliances from prying eyes but there's no knowing who's watching in a room of strangers.

Avery was a bit surprised to hear that the lady beside him enjoyed nature and interacting with animals. He had assumed that most ladies of the court would shy away from the dirt and filthy creatures. The only woman he'd known to scoff at the idea of being pristine and pretty was his sister. It was a surprise, but a welcome one. His smile transformed into a genuine smile and he relaxed more beside the woman. He hadn't even realized he had been tense. It really had been so long since he'd spoken to a woman so freely in such a setting. Perhaps he and Lady Adelina could have a pleasant friendship after all.

Avery glanced up when he noted Adelina's gaze had shifted and saw Adelina's brother come to the table with his sister. He knew how out of her element she would feel here and the role she had to play. She could hold her own of course, but as her brother, he always wanted to make sure she was at ease and protected. She looked relaxed for now at least. Avery then took a quick moment to look at the second table where Elliot now sat. He seemed in good spirit as usual, but Elliot had always adored parties. He hoped he stayed out of trouble. Elliot seemed to attract that far too often for his liking. With the knowledge that his siblings were doing well, he turned his attention back to Adelina.

"I have seen foxes roaming about our lands but I have never seen a polar bear or caribou. It sounds like you have some interesting creatures on your land. I am far more accustomed to seeing the farm animals. Just your regular cows, chickens, horses, ox, and things of that nature. The forest, however, is home to wolves, coyotes, foxes, and deer. The fawns in spring are the cutest thing to watch as they dance around. They are such curious things. Anyway, those are the animals I have seen more often. Like you and your brother, I enjoy waking early and checking in on all of the animals on our farms. Their treatment and health are instrumental to the farm just as the workers are. After everyone is tended to, we begin our work in the field. I find nothing better than having an active hand in the work," he answered. At that point, he realized he was risking giving her too much information at once. He knew that if he started talking about the work, he may go on a tangent. Even if this lady enjoyed the earth, he doubted she would be enthralled about how he tilled the fields.

Adriana said a small thank you as her escort pulled out her chair and offered her wine which she sipped. Callum's words in response to her question made her smile. He valued his work and made a point to mention his men. He did sound honorable. The answer was a good one. And then he mentioned her hands and her reputation with the bow. She hesitated then. She knew that usually, it was not right for a woman to learn how to use a weapon, but she cherished it. At least he softened his words by mentioning his sister was also a bowwoman. Before she could say anything in response, Lady Adelina spoke up herself and offered to meet up in the morning for practice. Their families seemed similar. She wondered if most of the families here were more similar than different.

"I would greatly enjoy that," she answered. "It sounds like we both best our warrior brothers in the art of the bow," she chuckled lightly in a tease and looked over at Avery.

Avery chuckled and raised his glass to her to respect and confirmation. "I would not wish to cross you in a battle of distance," he added. Avery then turned to Callum and gave him a nod of acknowledgment.

"And while our sisters practice with their bows, perhaps you'd indulge me in a duel. I think we would have an excellent challenge." He had to admit that the prospect thrilled him. It had been a long time since he'd had a challenging duel. He loved the dance of blades, the motion, the testing of one's skill and power against another's and finding the limits of your ability and then training it further. It was a great way to learn. Elliot was less enthusiastic in their duels.

Adriana smiled and looked at the other two siblings. "Perfect! It sounds like we have a date for the morning," she mused. "Perhaps afterward we can go for a walk around the grounds."

Elliot looked up when Desmond addressed Lord Keter and his escort. Though he was further down the table, he had caught what the prince said and put on a charming smile for the man and raised a glass in his direction. "Scare us away, Your Highness? Oh, contrary, we were drawn to your radiance, moths, and butterflies," he mused with a glance to the women, "to a pyre." Elliot drank from his cup as the food began to filter to the tables and he remained quiet until the servants were done bustling around him and the beautiful lady beside him.

"Lady Sigrid, there is an air of fire about you. A unique and dangerous beauty," he complimented. "It is a rare gift for a woman to have a battle spirit and one I think quite charming. You are advancing the front for women who desire to be more than dolls. I admire your strength," he said then. "I would love to know more about you, the things you enjoy," he continued. "And what would you like to know of me, my lady?"
